    Plot Summary

Alchemy, a method of transforming one substance or element into another, functions much like magic in this series. Two brothers, Edward and Alphonse, attempt to resurrect their deceased mother using Alchemy, but instead, Edward loses an arm and a leg, and Alphonse loses his entire body. In hopes of recovering their lost body parts, they embark on a journey to find the mythical Philosopher’s Stone. This journey leads them to uncover a hidden, dark truth about Alchemy, Alchemists, and their homeland.

    Highlights of the Story

Brotherhood: The core theme of the series is the strong bond between Edward and Alphonse. The love and trust between the two brothers remain unshaken despite numerous adversities. At times, misunderstandings and arguments arise, but by the end of the day, the brothers set aside all differences to unite in pursuit of their goal.

Side Characters: Every side character in FMAB is given sufficient attention. Through their motivations, ideals, and resolute attitudes, the writer highlights deep trust and love for friends, as well as a sense of responsibility toward one’s country. Additionally, themes like blind patriotism, greed for power, and racism are portrayed through various characters.

Antagonists: The series introduces several antagonists, including the Homunculi, who symbolize the seven negative traits of the human mind, power-hungry Alchemists who forget their humanity, and a unique individual who seeks to challenge God. Each antagonist is powerful and engages in intense battles with the protagonists.

Patriotism: Many are willing to sacrifice their lives for their country. But for the sake of that patriotism, can you take the life of someone from another country? Would your hands not tremble? Another key theme in FMAB is the horror of war. Those who fall victim to attacks in a war suffer, but the inner conflict faced by an ordinary soldier following a commander’s orders is vividly portrayed in this series.

Abuse of Power: In World War 2 and many other instances, we see how a single government figure’s desire can spread propaganda, manipulate the masses, and carry out genocide to gain personal benefits and strengthen their power. This series draws inspiration from such events of World War 2 in various ways.

    1000058548.jpg

    Technical Aspects

Animation: As a 2009 animation, it is exceptionally well done. The color grading of the animation evokes the vibe of the 1900s.

Music: The series predominantly uses Classical European Orchestral music and Latin-language music, which perfectly complements the series’ atmosphere.

Intro/Ending: Every Intro and Outro of the series is beautiful. My personal favorite is the first Intro.

    1000058547.jpg

    Final Words

With deep themes like war, racism, and genocide, no filler episodes, a compact story, a beautiful ending, enjoyable OST, and a complex and emotional narrative, FMAB is a worthy contender for the title of the best Shounen anime. So, even if you’re short on time, make time to watch this 64 episode masterpiece.

  2. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood | A story like no other (En-Es)@cjlugo328d

    PPhKgzo-fullmetal-alchemist-brotherhood-wallpapers.jpg

In the world of manga and anime, there are stories that stand out above the rest, such as Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Anyone who has seen or read it cannot deny the immense quality of the script. Even my young children delight in watching the Elrick brothers' journey to recover their bodies. For both of them, it is their favorite anime at the moment.

This is understandable, as the plot and character development provided by mangaka Hiromu Arakawa is undoubtedly excellent. And when I talk about development, I don't just mean the Elrick brothers, but everyone, including the villains, who were also perfectly developed.

The spectacular story begins when young Edward and Alphonse are faced with a tragic reality: their mother has died and their father has abandoned them. With their limited knowledge of alchemy, they perform something considered taboo in the world of alchemists: human transmutation.

However, things do not turn out as they expected, and instead of bringing their dead mother back from the other world, they create an abomination, thus understanding that human transmutation is impossible and that it brings great consequences to those who dare to perform it.

This point, let's say, is the main context, from which the rest of the events derive, but in that tragic beginning, the story envelops and captivates us as we see that the young men will continue alone and now face many adversities.

I confess that “Brotherhood” far surpasses the story broadcast on TV channels in the 90s. In fact, they don't even resemble each other in terms of plot development; one is faithful to the manga and the other is not. And although the one broadcast back then was good, there's nothing like watching the original, because that's where the author's thoughts are captured.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is a philosophical work, its plot makes anyone think. In our case, we have a rather different position to the one shown there, but it doesn't hurt to learn about other people's ways of thinking, just to have an understanding of how other people think.

On the other hand, I must also confess that I hadn't seen it—shame on me—but that's because I saw the broadcast version many years ago, and I had never thought about the “Brotherhood” series until recently, when I was looking for something to watch with my children and decided that we should take a look at it together. I felt a little sorry for them because what I had told my children did not happen in the series, ha ha ha, until I managed to understand the huge difference.

I must say that we are happy, it is an impressive series, and it has a very beautiful ending. There are many painful deaths, of people who are on the side of the good guys, but also on the side of the enemies. I really liked how the homunculi, despite all their evil, deep down just wanted to be human, to have friends, to have family, in short, everything they couldn't have.

Finally, I highly recommend it. Perhaps you have already seen or read it, but if you haven't, take a look, because it's spectacular, a story that is worth spending time on because you will enjoy it.

    Thank you for reading.

What can I say about Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood that hasn't already been said in this community? I think almost nothing, since I consider myself just another fan of this incredible series, but especially of its second version, which is a work of art not only because of its impeccable designs but also because of its adaptation, which remained so faithful to the manga. This series touches the heartstrings of anyone who watches it. You immediately connect with the Elric brothers because of the tragic moment shown at the beginning of the series. In addition, the choice of intros and endings are so good that since I heard them for the first time, I added them to my music repertoire. Hearing them transports me to the universe of Full Metal Alchemist every time.

I was amazed as I read each chapter published in the manga. But I was disappointed when I saw the first anime adaptation and how much it deviated from the original story. I was one of many fans disappointed by this story's downfall in its first version. However, my eyes filled with joy when I saw that after so many complaints and, of course, waiting for it to be done justice, they managed to give all of us fans this manga turned into a majestic anime. The truth is that when I watched the first episodes, I was so enchanted that for me it was like watching a work made by fans for fans. Everything was very well done from start to finish, as it should have always been.

The universe created by the Elric brothers obsessed me so much that it led me to research alchemy and the philosopher's stone, and made me admit that those who created the series, especially the manga, knew exactly what they were doing. Every detail, down to the smallest, was taken into account in these aspects to develop one of the best dramatic and action-packed stories with justice in this anime. Here, profound themes, laden with philosophy, are touched upon in a subtle and easy-to-understand way, leaving a mark on the lives of those who watch it. This is not just another anime; it is a lesson in life, a reflection on humanity, war, and love.

For me, Roy Mustang is one of the most outstanding characters in the series, both for his complex personality and his iconic charisma. One of the things I liked most about him is the fact that he was considered one of the most powerful alchemists in Amestris, but in reality he had a weakness that his enemies knew very well. He couldn't use his alchemy in the rain or when there was no oxygen. This led the villains to repeatedly push him to his limits, causing him to lose his best friend and uncover the government's conspiracy. All of these situations forced him to grow and become stronger, eventually turning him into an idealistic hero.

    image.png

Another thing I loved about this series, and what made it so memorable and special to me, is the development of its villains. In this version, they were very well portrayed. Each villain, such as the leader King Bradley and The Dwarf in the Bottle, evolved perfectly and was so well adjusted to the manga that I enjoyed seeing them at their best. Seeing King transform from a natural leader into a ruthless and remorseless being was one of the best parts of the series, while the Father turned out to be the worst of them all, acting as the embodiment of arrogance and the desire for absolute power. Both characters took the Brotherhood series to another level that is difficult to match.

  4. FMA vs FMA: Brotherhood@herosik333d

    okk.jpg

[Me] FMA is one of the most praised anime from my teenage years. Back then, I wasn't a fan of it. The beginning didn't really grab me, and I didn't want to watch it. For years afterward, I said it wasn't worth watching when you could watch Brotherhood. I'd say back then: "Why waste time on filler?" "Why watch an old anime when you can watch this newer one, which has aged very well in every way?" Today, I know I was wrong, and there's nothing wrong with having two adaptations. Especially if they're good and emphasize different things. Today, I'll talk to one of them, Karol, about both series.

[Karol] I remember you complaining about the old series. The claims that it's filler, that it's Brotherhood, that it's a waste of time watching something that isn't a faithful adaptation of the manga, were all well-deserved. We can finally talk about what the writers did better than Arakawa, what they did worse, and of course, how it performs as a standalone title. A bit personal at first, I first watched Fullmetal when it started its first or second broadcast on Hyper (an old Polish TV channel that aired anime). The funny thing is that despite watching it several times on TV, even when Hyper was glitching and the sound was muted, I never managed to watch the very end.

[Me] I'll start from the end. When I think about both titles, I like to compare them, listing their strengths and weaknesses. In my opinion, Brotherhood has fewer weaker moments, but more strengths. These stem largely from the larger budget and likely superior technical expertise, such as music, art, and animation. While the scripts for both titles can be described as equally outstanding, and it's difficult to definitively say which one was better written, Brotherhood is far superior to its older brother in technical terms. True, the 2003 anime has a few fights that were better than the newer version, but these are minor quibbles compared to dozens, if not dozens, of excellent fights. It's not in this league. The script is a different story. Without wanting to take away your arguments, I'll tell you which I liked better. I'll start with another, and in my opinion, better main antagonist than the Homunculus from the Lamp. Not that Arakawa's idea is bad or poorly presented, but I certainly can't say it's as good as her best storylines. While Father Homcunulus's plan is more impressive, and Dante doesn't get much screen time, I find her much more convincing and human. I know that was Hiromu's intention, to make him inhuman, but despite his willingness and good work, I think she contrasts poorly with the Elric brothers' master. I've seen Villian want to rule the world for similar reasons too many times, and it's no longer as appealing to me.

[Karol] I won't discuss the technical aspects, as it's not very fair, but that doesn't apply to the music. I don't consider the Brotherhood version better; it's certainly more sublime, but it wouldn't have fit the 2003 version. In the original version, we have a much smaller story, so the soundtrack is also more down-to-earth. We didn't get as much orchestral music, because it would have clashed with the story. A major advantage of the older version is the reduced scale. We don't have a huge intrigue involving the entire power of the state and affecting all the inhabitants, but a story where a certain powerful figure slightly nudges some alchemists so that they unknowingly fulfill her whim and create her philosopher's stone. This also leads to a bit of debate about whether the law of equivalent exchange is true, something that isn't developed as much in Brotherhood. Only at the very end does Al mention that Ed hypothesized that you have to put in more than you get out. Certain plotlines in the 2003 version are, in my opinion, better thought out, such as Mustang killing Winry's parents, how the Homunculi were created, and why they're named after sins. Scar's murder of the Rockbells resonates much less, and the idea that some powerful being decides to strengthen itself by getting rid of what it considers imperfect within itself is a bit cliché.

[I] I agree, it's not entirely fair, which is why I'm not comparing the two series in this regard, as I would, for example, with the power systems in OP and HxH. It was more about whether I enjoyed both series. Yes, animation is one of those aspects that gets old quickly, but despite the passage of time, it can still be impressive. Sometimes, adding simple effects, like in DBZ or OP, is enough – even if those scenes have simple animation, you can hide it. That's why I'm not very merciful towards old anime. Some might be offended by this, but for me, the old FMA is so-so in this regard. Aside from a few fights with Scar, I barely felt the power of alchemy in the 2003 series. It's different with, for example, DB or the first Naruto series (yes, I know, for obvious reasons, all of these series make a stronger impression). The first title was created much earlier, and the second not much earlier. In the first adaptation of FMA, I practically don't feel the strength, power, or emotions of the characters. It's a bit like the creators of good RTS games were tasked with making a third-person game. In a sense, they created a decent game with a good story that was well-presented to players, but the gameplay is underdeveloped or at best acceptable. In my opinion, it's worse than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, despite having the potential to be, say, Assassin's Creed (however you judge that game, it supposedly has much better gameplay). To put it simply, the creators of the old anime could have done a bit better. As for the music, I generally agree. Both soundtracks are of a similarly high standard, so it's a purely subjective matter.

However, I disagree with the story. Maybe I'm wrong, because I saw Brotherhood a long time ago, but it seems to me that the moral of the new series is different from what you wrote. From what I remember, Brotherhood shows that different paths lead to the same solution, while the older series had several paths with different conclusions. Dante says that if you know a topic better and have access to better ingredients, you can compensate for many years of hard work by another person, which is closer to our reality. Brotherhood idealizes this a bit and emphasizes the principle of equal exchange, and the moral of the final episodes of the 2003 series shows that something can be achieved with less effort and resources. I prefer the 2003 version because it's closer to our reality. I also disagree with Roy Mustang, but that's purely subjective – I like both situations equally in terms of the motivation and the idea, but the 2003 idea didn't convince me. However, I do appreciate the Fire Alchemist's excellent and truthful speech about following the orders of his commanders. I agree, however, about the Homunculi and Dante, whose motivation was much more appealing to me than Arakawa's.

[Karol] Dante tells Ed directly that the principle of equivalent exchange is naive. Just because you give something doesn't mean you have to get something in return. He gives Izumi's son as an example, who gave his life without receiving anything in return. Another example is the restoration of Al's body, where Ed sacrificed his own, which theoretically should have been enough, but it didn't end that way; Al also had to sacrifice the memories of their four years of journey. Why is Mustang's murder more powerful? The whole thing hits more personally. Roy is a guy who, as a military man, is tasked with protecting his country's citizens, and he kills them. Later, from Winry's perspective, the same man who took her parents takes away people he considers his brothers. He was even willing to sacrifice the death of a friend for a military career. Scar, to Winry Rockbell, is more like an idea, someone less tangible. This doesn't change the fact that it works within the story; Winry here implements what Scar's master had previously spoken about, namely, breaking the cycle of revenge. I would compare this to the OP and the arc with Arlong and Enies Lobby. For me, the story with the fishman is better because, despite its much smaller scope, it's more personal. The enemy isn't an imaginary entity like the Government, represented by CP9, but a flesh-and-blood character – Arlong.

[Me] Sure, I understood what Dante meant when she told Ed about the principle of equal exchange. That's why the 2003 translation appeals more to me, because it can be applied to the reality we know. Part of our lives do depend on our choices, but in reality, they are primarily determined by chance (where we're born, the environment we grow up in, who we encounter in our lives). Even when we consciously choose or do something, everything is subject to chance, because we can constantly make bad choices, or we can ultimately do everything right, but make one mistake at the end that thwarts our efforts. I prefer this explanation to the principle of equivalent exchange known from Brotherhood – if you put your work, time, and resources into something, you will receive an equivalent of what you ask for.

Regarding Roy, as I wrote in the previous paragraph, I completely agree with your arguments. This makes the entire storyline more relatable to our characters and more tangible for the audience. I'll supplement your opinion of Roy with what I wrote earlier – his storyline shows that life isn't as simple as it's portrayed in Brotherhood. People, as well as morality, are more gray. This is more true to human behavior—few people are so sincerely evil or good. We and those around us often follow orders we don't want to, but either "that was the order" or sometimes we need to administer a drug that can kill, but can also save us from death, which is inevitable. Roy's story perfectly embodies this in the areas you mentioned, such as exploiting a friend's death to gain a better position in the army, to change the status quo, or to be forced to follow orders, because the army isn't a school trip where a student stomps their feet and defies the teacher. In the military, if you disobey an order, you get an exemplary punishment for insubordination, and someone will eventually carry out your order anyway. I'm not saying this is good or bad—it's simply the way it is for specific reasons. If there were more lawlessness in the army, it would have more negative consequences than positive ones. I'd also add that over time, among other things, Thanks to knowing you, I understood better why some events work better in a smaller format - they are more personal, and we, the viewers, focus more on the conflict itself, without being distracted by additions that, although enriching the story, somewhat dilute its main message.

Since we've talked about what the 2003 FMA does better, what do you think both series do equally well? That means you'd have to really think long and hard about which is better—the solution from the newer series or the older one. It's like choosing between two equally useful items in an RPG. For me, it's the events of Ishval. Initially, I thought they were poor compared to what was shown in Brotherhood, but the clever combination of Greed's chimera plots and Tucker's experiments on enhancing humans with animal genomes changed my mind. But first, let me explain my opinion, which you'll probably disagree with. Maybe I'm being insensitive, but the events of the first series didn't move me in the slightest. They neither made me sad nor made me feel sorry for its inhabitants, I did not feel the weight of the state's power as in Brotherhood or at least One Piece (I'm talking about Buster Call - for those unfamiliar with this title, it's about the use of a fleet of battleships that annihilated all the people on the island and any traces of their existence). Even the music, which I've grown to appreciate over time, didn't make me shed a tear during this scene, let alone Roy Mustang's involvement, which wasn't fully explained until the end of the anime. In Brotherhood, I felt a behemoth of a nation using every means at its disposal to crush a nation. Its power and ruthlessness were felt in every aspect—alchemy, conventional weaponry, and the common soldier who stared into the terrified eyes of people before taking their lives. Speaking of which, there were more scenes of their corpses or their reactions to the military that shocked me. The impact was enhanced by the somber music, which may not have been perfectly suited, but better served its purpose.

I changed my mind because of the involvement of the secret services. I don't know much about them; my knowledge is fragmentary, but I love watching them in action. Whether it's a fantasy title, a semi-realistic one (like Lupin III), or one that aspires to that title. If the writer knows how these things work, presents them correctly, and the director devotes adequate time to them, I'm as happy as 13-year-old me watching the first Goku vs. Vegeta fight. The provocation instigated by the Amestrian military looked much better than the Ishval holocaust, which we were shown dozens of episodes earlier. I felt a greater dynamism, a more intense atmosphere, and the special forces' action itself made a greater impression on me due to its larger scale. I don't want to compare them, because I like them equally, and the advantages are more or less balanced. And both actions show, albeit somewhat simplified, what a provocation in the Warsaw Ghetto during the German occupation might have looked like (if the tension had been even greater, because the murder of children of Polish or Jewish descent didn't make a sufficient impression on the ghetto inhabitants) or the Gliwice provocation of 1939. Brotherhood, although it looks better overall, has some gaps that are perfectly filled by the scriptwriters of the old anime, which is clearly visible in this example - we have a great military depiction, but the author forgot about the involvement of special forces, which are important in many conflicts between countries.

[Karol] I also treat the action in Ishval as something on a similar level, although I'd more accurately say it was the military's general actions against minorities. Regardless of whether we're talking about the Red Eyes or Lior, both series present a rather powerful depiction of annihilation carried out by the military. The older version placed more emphasis on Rose's people, while Brotherhood focused on Scar, which is why 2003 has a better episode in Lior and 2009 in Ishval. This doesn't mean the differences are drastic, but the pacification of Lior benefits greatly from showing what it actually looked like and what its consequences were. Brotherhood has one episode about how the riots actually began, followed by the city's reconstruction. On the other hand, the Ishval massacre is more developed in the 2009 version, as are Hawkeye's memories (which are more developed in the manga), and Armstrong, for whom escaping from the front is still something vivid, which is partially demonstrated in Maria Ross's "death." In Hughes's character, we get a military man who, thanks to his family and for his family's sake, wants to forget the tragedy of war. The original version emphasized this theme much less. Yes, just like in the 2009 version, it was the starting point for Mustang. In both versions, it's the moment he decides he wants to take over the military to prevent things like this from happening. The same with Dr. Marcoh, but aside from the refugees and Scar's mission, that's practically all.

[Me] It's good that you pointed out Lior, which in a sense fills in the gaps in the 2003 version regarding Ishval. I completely forgot about this storyline, which played out throughout the entire series—from the Homunculi's efforts to once again incite the crowd against the army, to the guerrilla warfare that led to the rape of Rose (it wasn't explicitly mentioned, but it was implied several times). It reminded me of The Witcher, when Sapkowski discussed incidents on the border between the northern countries and Nilfgaard, and our world, where tensions arise between various countries (e.g., India and Pakistan), which, if the balance is noticeably disturbed, can escalate into open conflict or the takeover of a given territory. As for the characters, aside from Roy Mustang's storyline, which is equally compelling in both series, I find Hiromu Arakawa's vision much more compelling. Especially in the case of Dr. Marcoh, who was less utilized in the older series. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the writers of the 2003 anime ran out of ideas on how to develop his role throughout the story. I see Scar and Greed's ending similarly – do you agree? As for the other characters, their storylines resonate more strongly, and I find them easier to relate to, not only from a personal perspective, but also from the perspective of humanity in general, and the conflicts between us.

[Karol] For me, it wasn't so much that they ran out of ideas as that they simply decided not to continue their storylines since our Imperial colleagues were gone. In the manga and Broherhood, Greed is developed as Greelin, Marcoh only returns after Scar rescues him, and the Ishvalan's story is strongly connected to Mei and chemy. Instead, they gave Tucker more time, let Hughes live longer, Lust got more background, and the adventure in Dublith was expanded a bit. What was given to some characters was taken away from those who appear after the Greed plot. Such is the joy of inventing your own story.

Another thing I consider equally important is the overall quality of the story. Because both stories strike different tones, we're told a similar story, presenting similar issues but from different perspectives. The 2003 version focuses on a darker tone, while the 2009 version aims for more hope, and in their own way, they complement each other. What was weaker in Brotherhood has already been addressed (to some extent, as I don't want to break it down episode by episode), but it's compensated by things that are better, and there are some. But more on that in a moment. I'll also preempt something: I don't think combining the two would suddenly create a super-FMA, better than anything else; it would probably even lose some of its quality.

[Me] While I agree with Greed and partially with Dr. Marcoh, I don't buy your arguments regarding Scar. I'm disappointed with the ending of the Ishvalan arc. She wasn't a weak, stupid, or unnecessary character; she could have been given a more important role at the end of her life or developed even further. And even if they had insisted she die right then and there, they could have come up with something better. Scar wasn't far from Ed, and the armor transformed into a bomb so slowly that he could have easily delivered it to him. When Scar sacrificed himself for Al, I felt like I was in the Kakuzu vs. Naruto fight, when Kishimoto took the Akatsuki member's brain for a few moments so Naruto could get rid of it. In Marcoh's case, I'm torn. While it's true that his role ended at that point and the creators met all the conditions for killing him (he had no way to escape, nor was he as strong as Scar to create a path), I think his storyline was abruptly cut short. It was as if someone chose a moment and cut his storyline too perfectly.

Regarding the second paragraph, I agree with every sentence, but the last one puzzles me. How do you envision such a combination of the two series? I assume you meant to combine the best qualities of both anime? I agree that this idea makes no sense. Firstly, the story would be overloaded with threads, secondly, some of them would have to be thrown out so as not to detract from more important events. In my opinion, this makes no sense, especially since both anime are very consistent (FMA less so, but these are minor elements that could easily be fixed), present a high standard, and their shortcomings are minor. In the case of the old one, it's the fights, while in the new one, it's the overly positive message, which is, in my opinion, too idealized. Both anime stand on their own, and any tinkering with them would only ruin them, in my opinion.

[Karol] Example: In FMA, we're developing Greed's character, meaning we're introducing Greelin. This would end up taking up airtime from Wrath and Lust. The same with Scar, which would mean introducing Mei and Marcoh, which would require cutting time for other characters. A significant increase in the number of episodes wouldn't be a good thing, because the number we got was very good. The opposite would be true: developing Nina and Tucker's storylines would likely mean cutting other storylines. I'm not mentioning the script changes that would be required, which would end up being glued together with saliva.

Another thing that's on a similar level is the ending (I'm not considering the movie; there will be time for that later). Both are a bit disappointing, for different reasons, but still. FMA lacked a few episodes to wrap up certain storylines, and after the escape from Resembool, everything moved too quickly. More time could have been given to Hohenhem and Dante, and we could have gotten more interaction between the Elric generations. The history of Amestris from 400 years ago could have been expanded upon, why the old city ended up underground, why Christianity was wiped out. However, in Brotherhood, everything was so typical: the main character comes out dressed in white and kicks Villian's ass. The 2003 version tried to do something different and started too late for that number of episodes. The 2009 version took a safer route, which is why it loses out, since the rest tried to be something other than a typical battle-shounen.

[Me] Responding to your texts regarding Scar - it was enough for me to handle his storyline in Lior a bit differently, i.e. to give him a real and unavoidable ultimatum - either you sacrifice yourself and we save the case, or you don't sacrifice yourself and all your effort goes to waste. As for the rest, I agree. To avoid repeating myself, I'll be brief: both series are perfectly balanced in terms of the number of characters and their storylines, and any changes in this area would do more harm than good. All it would take is a few more episodes, I think a maximum of five, to flesh out and flesh out certain storylines, such as the finale, which was painfully shortened. You (those who watched the anime live) must have been furious when the anime ended and we were given only a few minutes to see the consequences of the series finale.

I agree with all the comments you raised about the 2003 anime in the second paragraph. All those storylines you mentioned had the potential to be truly interesting. This could have made the series much deeper and more multifaceted; it's a shame it ended this way. I don't entirely agree with the comments about Brotherhood, because while the finale is indeed a typical battle-shounen, the fights are of an exceptionally high standard. The choreography, atmosphere, emotions, and character behavior are excellent; it's clear that this was created by a female artist with a great imagination, not some talented male creator like in HxH, etc. Just as I often like to mock left-wing circles that claim women are equal to men in sports, esports, etc., women also dominate men in culture, as evidenced by numerous examples. Let's move on to discussing the film, do you have anything else to add?

[Karol] If you know me, you know that fighting is often a secondary issue for me, so I largely skipped it. I'm more interested in the story from the moment Father takes over the stone made of the entire country. The coup itself, Bradley's glorious return, the zombie attack, etc., are very well done, though they're a bit clichéd.

We still need to talk about what's worse. For me, my main criticism will be Winry and Risa. I don't know how widely Winry is received now, but I remember that 12 years ago, she could be considered the most disliked female character alongside Sakura, Orihime, and Hinata, which I disagree with both then and now. I have to admit, though, she was given much more time to develop in the remake. And while I didn't have any major complaints about Marcoh or Greed being weaker, as they were only episodic characters in the 2003 version, I can't defend that here, since she's a much more important character in the story. She's not poorly developed, but there's less of her in the older version, she's not as close to her brothers, and you don't feel as much attachment as in the new version. It's similar with Hawkeye; in the original version, she's just a subordinate with a certain degree of attachment to Mustang. Brotherhood fleshes out why she's so determined to protect Roy, and we get the beginnings of a romantic relationship. The film does try to develop these characters a bit, but let's be honest, not only is it 100 minutes long, but the girls won't be the main characters.

[Me] Yes, I know you place much less importance on them than I did, but I interpreted your earlier words about the fights differently. I don't know what Winry was received like a dozen or so years ago, and I don't really remember how her younger version is perceived, but like you, I disagree. In my opinion, they can't be compared to Sakura, Orihime, and other irritating female characters, because both Winry characters have deeper personalities, are more independent, can cope without help, and can even contribute more to the story's development than shounen heroines envisioned by male authors. The heroes and heroines of comics by female authors are more fully developed and relatable, flesh-and-blood characters with much more developed personalities. Their emotions and personalities aren't as simplistic, difficult to describe with a few simple traits or catchphrases. This is also evident in their sexuality – Winry doesn't flaunt it like some heroines, but she's not a quiet mouse either.

As for the film, it unfortunately doesn't work well as an epilogue, as it only subtly develops certain issues. There were other, more important things to build (characters in an alternate universe, a reason for them to end up in the alchemists' world) that were supposed to make the film more compelling for viewers, have a more interesting plot, some conflict, and so on. While I enjoyed it as a true finale, I'm disappointed with the weak conclusion to some of the storylines. Unfortunately, that's the price of a feature film – everything usually looks better, and is usually better written, but there's not much time to develop the secondary characters and give them a satisfying finish. However, its unquestionable advantage is that we get an Austrian watercolorist and Maes Hughes, who is almost 100% Nazi.

[Karol] The final major weaker element is King Bradley. And it's not like he's weak in the 2003 version or anything, but let's be honest, the original commander doesn't have half the charisma he did in the manga and Brotherhood. We didn't get even a fraction of a scene like his return from the assassination attempt, where Grandpa, standing in front of the gate, made Briggs' soldiers pee their pants in fear. Even General Armstrong and Mustang didn't inspire such fear and respect among their men. The original gives us the brawl in Dublith and the fight with Roy, but it's not on this level. The fact that he is Homculus is also a bit of a side note, I don't mind that we don't really know who he was during his lifetime, but I would love to see how he came to power.

[Me] Oh yes, I completely agree. Every time I watch scenes with a genuinely angry Bradley, I can feel a very powerful aura coming from him. Arakawa can write and portray these scenes like no male shounen author. Even though he's just a character drawn on a piece of paper, you can feel his charisma and power in every word, movement, gesture, and strike. While reading your text, I refreshed my memory of the scene where Wrath arrives at his palace after a failed assassination attempt and massacres the elite Amestrian troops. His attitude, his line "You think I'm going to enter my own palace from the back...?" and his breaking through the defenses as if they were, at best, lead replicas of real soldiers, was epic. I felt a similar feeling when Scar also activated his "100% seriousness" mode or Roy Mustang killed Lust. Only a few male comic book authors have even remotely approached this level—for example, Akira Toriyama during his best moments in DBZ, Kishimoto in a few moments in Naruto, or Togashi. The latter came closest, though even he could only keep up with Ms. Arakawa, not lead her by the hand.

It's similar when comparing the old FMA with the new one. Bradley had a few short segments where I only felt a hint of the charisma he exuded practically every step of the way in Brotherhood, even in scenes where he wasn't showing his full strength. I'd also love to see flashbacks showing how Bradley from the 2003 version rose to power. Especially since, in my opinion, the old anime better addresses the political aspects of "Fullmetal Alchemist." I wonder what they would have come up with instead of Bradley, aka Captain America, who was brought to life by those behind the curtain.

[Karol] It's time to talk a little more about the movie Conqueror of Shamballa, without comparing it to Star of Milos. For context, since it's a movie, I'm more lenient on the expansion of plotlines and consider it a conclusion to the series' story. Let's be honest, you can't build new characters and give the old ones time without any simplifications in 100 minutes. For as long as I can remember, he was always considered very average, which I disagreed with. I'll start with what I like about this film. History shows that Dante and Hohenheim are right; the principle of equal value doesn't apply. To recover Al's body, Ed had to sacrifice his own body, and the younger brother, for this memory. After Bradley's death, the military took responsibility for at least pacifying Lior, and Mustang was demoted and sent to Wypizdów Dolny, somewhere beyond Suwałki. We're stuck in a mix of sweet and bitter; Izumi dies before the film's action, Wrath during it, their deaths tempered by their reunion behind the gate. Winry grows in character. I like the character counterparts in our world, especially Rose. I just wondered why he reacted that way to Bradley. It's nicely shown that people fear the outsider, even when calling such fear irrational is too weak. The brothers' first meeting works very well, as the armor containing Al's soul is transported to our world. It's bittersweet again. On the one hand, Ed knows Al is alive and has renewed hope that he can return to his senses. On the other, the meeting could only have lasted a moment.

[Me] Did internet users really rate this movie as mediocre? You surprised me. I don't remember how I felt about this film; I don't even have time to scour the internet for reviews (which isn't really worth it, as some of them have disappeared; it's been too many years), but after seeing it, my impressions were generally positive. I didn't like everything about it, and some things I actually disliked, but overall, it was a pretty good production. As I wrote in the article about "Halloween," which will probably be posted on my fanpage a little before our conversation, it's been a while since I saw it, so I don't remember it very well, and therefore, I'm sure I'll miss some of the points. Regarding your valid point about introducing new characters into a 100-minute film, the creators made a very good decision to use characters known from the series and present them in a different light. We've already gotten to know them, so they don't need expansion. Instead, we can enjoy their differences from the original and their interactions with the other characters. While I didn't like all the deviations, I'm not nitpicking. Bradley as a Jew or Maes Hughes as a model Nazi make up for any shortcomings. Especially the latter in contrast to his counterpart from the world of alchemy. Even though there was no reason to laugh, I couldn't contain my reaction whenever Hughes slandered the gypsies. In one world, he's a decent and helpful man, while in the other, he's a vile racist who insults others at every turn based on stereotypes and skin color. I liked the storylines of Izumi, her husband, and her son – the parents received little time, but we were given specific details about what was going on, while Wrath and Al were placed in one location, saving time and allowing viewers to watch them fight Gluttony together. But why did he appear there and look like that? I understand that he lost his temper over Lust's death, and I'm not surprised it affected him so much. As I wrote in one of my Brotherhood posts, stupidity and great strength are a very dangerous combination, which was very well demonstrated in "Conqueror of Shamballa." It's just a shame the creators didn't introduce him more effectively; I also had the strong impression that they added him there primarily to add more action to the film. If they'd used something else instead of this fight, viewers would probably complain that not much happened.

Why are you surprised by this reaction to the Jewish Bradley? For me, it was quite natural. Ed is an intelligent character, he doesn't get carried away by his emotions like some characters in other shounen movies, so he accepted that this Bradley was a completely different character. If I remember correctly, he was a little scared of him at first, but a moment later he realized he was a completely different person, and only shared certain personality traits and physical appearance with the old Bradley.

[Karol] Regarding Gluttony. After all, at the end of FMA, Dante turned on his "beast mode," completely shutting down his thinking. That's why he stayed in the underground city and became a beast. As for Bradley, Ed has been living in Berlin for a while now. His neighbor is Glacier, the district attorney is Hughes, he works with Al, he shares a house with Rose, but it was only in front of Bradley that he reacted, "Where are you from?"

Now, what I don't like about this movie is the ending, specifically the last 10 minutes or so. Ed kicked Dietline Eckhart's ass, everything seemed to be fine, until suddenly Ed got the brilliant idea that he had to go back to our world and destroy the gate on the other side... But why? They probably showed Al being able to implant a fragment of his soul into the armor for a reason; that's how they could have done it. I know the ending is supposed to be bittersweet, with the brothers reunited, but not in their world, but we have that without it. The Al from our world dies (he would have died soon anyway, but whatever), Rose is abandoned by Ed, and we have a lot of bitterness.

[Me] I understand, I agree with your explanation, but... I still can't change my mind. I buy what you're saying, but... I don't know, maybe it's just me, and if I watched it again, I'd change my mind. I just finished watching the TV series, and the fat Homunculus's presence in that scene really surprised me. Especially since, like with Envy, his design is slightly different from what was shown in the show. As for Bradley, for me, it was simply an instinctive reflex. He treated him as an enemy for so long that the image was embedded in his reptilian brain. He later came to his senses, as I said in the previous paragraph. As for the second part of your comment, it's one of those parts I don't remember well. From what I remember, I didn't like the ending because it all happened too quickly. For me, it lacked an extra 10 minutes to make everything feel better. I also didn't like the final fight, which was resolved too quickly. Regarding your complaints, I think they did it as a bare minimum plan – they didn't have time for a more detailed explanation, so they took the path of least resistance. Or maybe this is one of the few cases where they didn't think things through thoroughly and ended up the way they did.

[Karol] It's high time for a summary. I know I'm in the minority, but I consider both series equally good. Thanks to their different approaches to telling the same story, both series are worth watching. People who repeat the mantra "FMA isn't worth it because it's filler" often haven't seen the first series and are mindlessly repeating slogans from others. FMA and Brotherhood are, and will be for a long time to come, among my top three animated series. Yes, it has flaws, but show me a title without flaws. Brotherhood does some things better, and vice versa. I've been watching it regularly for about 14 years, about once every 15 months, and I'll probably continue to do so for the next 14 years.

[Me] I don't know if I'm being completely correct, but I sense your criticisms are directed at me, hehe :P. Actually, rightly so. Today's me would criticize my old self for the nonsense I spouted about the old FMA. I completely agree with you, I subscribe to what you wrote above. It's true that I personally value the newer series more, but that stems from the fact that I enjoy the fights and elements characteristic of battle shounen more than you do. It's not a huge difference, because as we've mentioned many times in this text, our private conversations, and public discussions, FMA and Brotherhood are, overall, on a more or less similar level. Of course, the latter is more visually appealing, but that stems from specific reasons, or rather, several of them, which can be summed up in one sentence: a larger budget and a desire to "apologize" to fans for the fact that the first anime wasn't a full adaptation of the manga. If an experienced director with good skills has clearly defined their vision and has no constraints (especially financial ones, or similarly significant ones), they will generally produce a better title than one without such a drive for success and constraints. Or, to put it another way, a more understandable example, both anime feature two girls. Both are more or less equally beautiful, with nice figures, but the latter wears more expensive or better cosmetics and more expensive clothes. You can ignore the visual aspects or ignore them, but you can't deny their effectiveness and usefulness in highlighting strong features. If both girls have roughly the same number of strengths, a similar number of minor flaws, and their beauty is clearly beyond our expectations, then it's just cosmetics.

I probably won't rewatch these anime as often as you do, but I'll definitely revisit them at least once. I remember both stories well enough that I probably won't do so until, say, five years from now, when I'm approaching 37 and don't feel the need to rewatch them myself. It's not because I didn't like them—I still consider Brotherhood a masterpiece in terms of plot and fights, and the 2003 anime purely for its storytelling, but it's too much of a time investment. I have too many anime, games, movies, books, and TV shows to catch up on that I want to watch before I have so many more responsibilities and so little time that I'll never catch up. I just don't want to have a moral hangover that I missed some important title that has been bothering me for many years.

[Ja] FMA to jedno z najbardziej wychwalanych anime z czasów, gdy byłem nastolatkiem. Wtedy nie przepadałem za tym tytułem. Początek niespecjalnie mnie przekonał i nie chciałem go obejrzeć.

Wiem, taki był zamysł Hiromu, by uczynić go nieludzkim, ale mimo chęci i dobrej roboty, to słabo kontrastuje moim zdaniem z mistrzynią braci Elric.

Nie mamy ogromnej intrygi, w której bierze udział cała władza państwa i dotyczy ona wszystkich mieszkańców, a historię gdzie pewna potężna postać lekko trąca niektórych alchemików, by ci nieświadomie spełnili jej zachciankę i stworzyli jej kamień filozoficzny.

Mówiąc prościej - twórcy starego anime mogli to zrobić nieco lepiej. Jeśli chodzi o muzykę, to się w sumie zgadzam. Oba soundtracki prezentują wyrównany, podobnie wysoki poziom, więc to kwestia czysto subiektywna.

Brotherhood to odrobinę idealizuje i podkreśla zasadę równej wymiany, a morał z ostatnich odcinków serii z 2003 pokazuje, że można coś osiągnąć mniejszym nakładem sił i zasobów.

Dlatego bardziej do mnie przemawia tłumaczenie z 2003, bo można to odnieść do znanej nam rzeczywistości.

  5. (ENG/SPA) Lust: The Woman of my most Terrifying and Lustful Dreams, Sinful Review@promete0sz384d

I have a great weakness for bad girls and that goes to my tastes in anime that besides giving me that kind of not so innocent personalities, gives me unique and exotic aesthetics where some fall into the generic structure that I love but there are other women with unique designs and features that I love even more.

Today I want to talk about a female character with the name of Lust, what a powerful name she has been assigned haha, she belongs to the Full Metal Alchemist anime that handles the topic of Alchemy, all of the above are ingredients of an almost aphrodisiac formula that was used as a presentation to the alchemical conflict that was going to develop.

A brief synopsis to understand it is that in the anime one of the greatest mysteries of alchemy are the homunculi that are adorned with the characteristics of capital sins, Lust is the beautiful woman that you can contemplate in the miniature that precisely fulfilled the author's objective to awaken the most carnal and sinful desires of the male audience of Full Metal Alchemist.

    .

    image.png

The author of Full Metal has a very peculiar way of drawing, he gives a lot of individuality to his characters, my perspective is that he makes his faces quite round or with a lot of curves, I like the curves and the design of Lujuria because as a character she fits my tastes perfectly, it's not just her huge breasts haha, I mean her face that I find sexy, funny and very different from the facial stereotype in anime of attractive female characters that dominate various franchises such as Demon Slayer.

To further reinforce the idea I want to convey, I share with you a youtube video of a cosplayer who does a makeup tutorial on Lust, note that the structure of the youtuber is thin which clashes with the peculiar structure of Lust in anime.

The point is that I consider Lujuria as a design that escapes the mold in anime and in real life of what would be an attractive female face because it totally departs from the social structure imposed in real life where women must be very thin and almost lose even their feminine voluptuous features.

    image.png

Her personality is cruel, that really sums her up haha, although her name is Lust, as such she is not lustful at all times, in fact I saw her very calm in those aspects, perhaps it is because the anime is basically aimed at all audiences and that capital sin was not explored in her in that way.

Lust as such does not sprout in her but it generates it in others, that is her ability that is used very well during the initial arcs of the anime that I highlight is one of the most susceptible moments of any story to fight for the attention of an audience to stay and watch more.

A personal detail is that I loved her friendship with Gula, that's why I insist in saying that she as such lustful is not because Gula I think she saw him as a friend or teammate, nothing else was born in her towards him.

This duo of sins entertained me a lot, I saw myself reflected in Gula because we are very similar haha and what can I say, I love to eat to the max and I would do exactly as he did in the anime, to be behind as a lapdog of my precious Lust 😍.

    image.png

    untitled.gif

Narrative details to criticize the character is that it lasts very little in the anime, as I suffered with his absence so early and although I understand the reason for this decision by the author, I complain because of other sins we had many chapters and of her perhaps few three .... sadness floods my soul.

The positive thing is that she is present in one of the best chapters of the anime in every aspect, battle, techniques, history and suffering.... of this last one a lot because I suffered a lot with her, in fact I would have preferred to win haha.

In Tenor's Gif I share with you how flirtatious she looks in her gothic look, red lips that by god how beautiful she looks plus the color of her eyes, my favorite color is purple and she has them in that color haha... this woman has it all for me.

She is not the most predominant sin in the story but in my little heart she managed to leave her beautiful tattoo of Homunculo as Lust, the woman of my most terrifying gothic dreams.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

  6. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - A Philosophical Masterpiece@fashtioluwa446d

Hello, anime world, it's a beautiful day for us to reflect on the psychological part of our lives. What are the philosophies we follow, and how does anime come into that view? Many people watch anime for the romance story, the fight scenes, the comedy, and many other things. Yes, this is one of the reasons I watch anime, but do you know there are anime that contain all this yet with a strong philosophical theme, if we can think deeply? The words said by the character, their ideology, and their view of humanity and the world.

Today, I bring one of that kind of anime to the table for us to discuss and learn from it. The name of this anime is "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood," and we will be discussing some of the things viewers might have missed during the show.

    image.png Image source

I remember the first day I watched this anime; it was sent to me by a friend who was also an otaku. While watching it, I realized it wasn't like the other kinds of anime I have watched; it has a deeper meaning, just like "DeathNote, Monster, and the like". Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a thought-provoking anime series that explores complex themes, moral dilemmas, and the human condition. It is safe to say the series is a masterpiece of storytelling, character development, and emotional resonance.

You see, at its core, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a series about the pursuit of knowledge, just like every other human on earth is doing, the consequences of playing God, and the importance of human relationships.

The story follows the journey of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse, as they search for the Philosopher's Stone to restore their bodies after a failed attempt to bring their mother back to life using alchemy. The philosopher's stone is not a stone you just find lying around in a forest or a mystical dungeon, or a particular tribe in the anime owns it. The philosopher's stone is created, and the method of creating one is something that wouldn't sit well with you, even though the show is an anime.

    image.png Image source

Fullmetal Alchemist explores various religious themes, which are reminiscent of the biblical idea of sacrifice and redemption. The show also touches on the idea of a universal equivalent exchange, where every gain comes with a corresponding loss. The show broadens your mind on how the universe works, which can even make you start questioning the concept of the universe. I love this anime because you learn from every episode, the bond between brothers who are ready to do anything to get what they want, and the actions of some characters who want to prove they are right.

Many people have this belief that it is impossible to dislike anime characters because they are fictional but Fullmetal Alchemist will prove you wrong. Some characters in the series are truly despicable, and their actions are haunting. For example, Shou Tucker, the Binding Alchemist, is a chilling example of a character who prioritizes scientific progress over human life and dignity.

    image.png Image source

I still don't understand how a father will take his own little daughter and experiment on her. He fused his daughter and her dog together just to prove he was able to, and this part of the episode doesn't sit well with many viewers. The fact that he saw nothing wrong with it was very disturbing.

    image.png Image source

The storyline of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is about how two brothers who went to extreme ends to recover their bodies after trying to perform alchemy to bring back their mother, but things didn't turn out the way they wanted. During their journey, they discover the true depth of the things they have done and how disturbing some people did it. The series is engaging, complex, and emotionally resonant.

One of the most significant lessons I learned from this series is the importance of understanding the consequences of our actions. The Elric brothers' journey serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of playing God and the importance of respecting the natural order of things.

The series also highlights the value of human relationships, friendship, and sacrifice. The bond between Edward and Alphonse is a testament to the power of brotherly love and the lengths to which people will go to protect and care for one another.

This is an old anime, and I expect all anime fans should have watched it, but if you haven't seen it, this is the best time for you to watch another masterpiece so you can brag to your friends about it. Also, rewatching it isn't a bad idea. The series is a 10/10 because of the various aspect of life it covers.

If you are going to watch it, then get ready to have your mind blown away.

Thanks for reading; my name is Fashtioluwa.

  7. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, one of the best series I've seen [ENG/ESP]@ibet457d

What's up @theanimerealm community? I hope you are doing great, as I was telling you a few weeks ago, I was watching an anime that had been on my list for years that I hadn't remembered to watch and boy, do I have to talk about this one.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009) is the faithful adaptation of the manga of the same name (since there was a first adaptation in 2003 but it was far from the original story), and if the original story was as I saw it in the series, I really understand the saying that many have of “make it a Brotherhood” (please, make a Brotherhood to Tokyo Ghoul and Berserk). This is without a doubt one of the best anime series I've seen and it has it all, love between brothers who are willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of the other, corruption, politics, betrayal, drama, annoying homunculi like Gula, and the most important, love, heterosexual love hahaha.

Out of jokes, I really enjoyed every chapter and the plot twists in these were really good, I was really surprised to see that King Bradley was also a homunculus and was part of the bad guys, I think my favorite homunculus is Greed since he basically does whatever he wants. In my post where I mentioned that I was starting to watch Fullmetal Alchemist, I mentioned that I don't know how Edward and Alphonse were going to do to get their bodies back and I was a little worried about how the author was going to solve that and I think she did it in an ingenious way and it was all thanks to the Law of Equivalent Exchange, which says that to get something, you have to give something in return, just like what happened with all the failed human transmutations, everyone who broke the taboo, had something taken away from them. I really don't want to give spoilers, but I was seriously surprised for good how well they resolved the issue of the Elric brothers' body retrieval.

What's up community? I don't hang out here that often anymore and I've been missing a lot, but, I come with a new post to remind you of my existence hahaha... I tried to keep up with the Month Quest, but I haven't really had too much time to watch anime.

One that I started watching recently is Fullmetal Alchimist: Brotherhood (yes, that one, because many say it's better than the first adaptation) and I don't usually post before finishing a series, but I've been liking it and every chapter leaves me intrigued. I'm barely on chapter 8 and, what many know already happened, the event with Nina and her little dog Alexander, and that made me wonder “how far is a person capable of going to achieve their goal? “because clearly Nina's father went over the welfare of his wife and daughter, even over the welfare of Alexander, and maybe for many it is a spoiler and I'm sorry for that, but I could not let this fact pass that disturbed me a lot of the series, even knowing that it was going to happen because many times I saw images of the event, but still, when I saw it I felt a huge discomfort.

Sometimes I want to get ahead of the facts, so I want to see if Edward and Al can get their bodies back, but, I want to let the series take its course, although I think if they are going to get their bodies back, I think it would be nice if they show in the series that even with all the attempts, actions have consequences, and well, for something human transmutation is a taboo, but well, I will save my words for later in a next post of my full opinion of the series.

So far I've been hooked on the series, I don't know why I postponed watching it for so long, but well, this would be all for today's post, I hope you liked it. I'll say goodbye for now, thank you very much for reading and I'll see you later in another post ❤️

If there's one anime that every fan of the shōnen genre should watch at least once in their lifetime, it's Fullmetal Alchemist, Brotherhood. Considered by many to be a masterpiece, this anime combines action, drama, philosophy, politics, and emotion in a way that few others can. From its first episodes, it draws you into a deep story, with endearing characters and a well-built world where alchemy is not just a power, but a science with its own rules and consequences.

But what makes Fullmetal Alchemist, Brotherhood so special, and why does it remain one of the most beloved anime of all time?

The series follows Edward and Alphonse Elric, two brothers who commit the greatest taboo in alchemy: attempting to revive their dead mother. But the price is devastating. Edward loses an arm and a leg, while Alphonse loses his entire body, leaving his soul bound to an empty suit of armor.

In the hopes of regaining their bodies, the brothers embark on a dangerous quest for the "Philosopher's Stone," facing powerful enemies, uncovering military conspiracies, and questioning the very nature of power and humanity.

Lo que mas me gusto / What I liked the most

Brotherhood's narrative is incredibly strong. Over the course of 64 episodes, the series develops each story arc masterfully, connecting all the elements of the plot to reach a satisfying conclusion. There are no loose ends and every character, even the secondary ones, has their moment to shine.

The Elric brothers are endearing protagonists, with a realistic and touching brotherly relationship. In addition, characters like Roy Mustang, Riza Hawkeye, Scar, Ling Yao, Olivier Armstrong and the homunculi villains enrich the story with their own conflicts and objectives. Each character has clear motivations, and their personal stories add emotional weight to the overall development.

The anime doesn't stop at action. It explores deep themes such as pain, guilt, sacrifice, war, political corruption, ethics in science and the price of power. The phrase "the principle of equivalent exchange" is not just a motto, but the philosophical foundation that supports the plot and character development.

The fights, although not the main focus, are very well choreographed and full of emotion. The alchemy fights, with spectacular effects and intelligent strategies, are a visual delight. Moments like the battles against the homunculi or the final fights are simply epic.

Lo que no me gusto / What I dont like

Although the series faithfully adapts the manga, the first episodes move very quickly because it tries to differentiate itself from the first anime version (Fullmetal Alchemist 2003). This can make some important details go unnoticed at first.

Although some homunculi, like Envy or Wrath (King Bradley), are excellent characters, others like Gluttony or Sloth do not have as much development and are somewhat flat compared to the rest of the cast.

¿Recomiendo Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? / Do I recommend Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood?

Definitely yes! Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is not just another anime. It is a complete, mature and deep story that mixes adventure, action, philosophy and human drama in a masterful way. It is an anime that makes you laugh, get excited and reflect on important topics, such as the price of our decisions and the value of life.

This time I want to talk about my favorite character in the book. I am going to talk about Roy Mustang, the fire alchemist.

Fullmetal Alchemis Brotherhood has dozens of good and memorable characters. I'll go out on a limb and say that they are all well designed and built. Especially the main ones and some secondary ones that have a very good character development. Anyway, today we are going to talk about just one, Roy Mustang.

    2.png

Roy was born in Amestris, the city of alchemy. Unfortunately his parents died in an accident when he was a child. So he was adopted by his aunt Chris Mustang.

Growing up, Roy became interested in alchemy. So he began to study and practice alchemy under the tutelage of Berthold Hawkeye (Risa Hawkeye's father). He was the one who taught him such destructive fire alchemy. For which Roy returns to Roy one of the strongest characters of the whole series.

    3.png

    Fuente

One of the reasons I like this character so much is because he shows you the deeper meaning of friendship. At one point in the series Maes Hughes is killed out of envy. Hughes always stood by Roy's side and vowed to support him in his goal to get to the top, to make Amestris a better nation. Since then, Roy seeks to find his killer to take revenge. During the course of the series we can see Roy asking the same question to different enemies “were you the one who killed Hughes?” All the answers were “no”, until he meets Envy. He confesses that he was the one who murdered him. This unleashed a lot of will go and pent-up angst, so Roy humiliates him to the homunculus.

    4.png

Another great moment of Roy was when he saved Risa from the homunculus Lust. At the moment where he was presumed dead, where we all saw him bleeding to death on the ground, he appears in the most masculine way possible to give us one of the best moments of the anime. Arriving with his torso uncovered, the wound cauterized and with the transmutation circle drawn on his hand, he gives us a show of fire. Managing to kill a being that was believed to be immortal.

    5.png

Roy is not a perfect character, nor invisible. He is human and he made mistakes, which almost took him out of the way. But that makes him great. The will to overcome adversity and move forward. He could have easily been the main character and no one would have complained. I hope I have paid tribute to this great man called Roy Mustang.

I consider Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood a masterpiece. Personally, it is my favorite series. And if I only had to recommend one audiovisual work, it would be this one. No doubt about it.

This time I would like to share with you a top of my favorite scenes. The ones that moved me the most and/or that I liked the most. Needless to say that there ARE SPOILERS.

    dsadasd.png

    🔹 5 🔹 Roy Mustang vs Lust/Lujuria (EP 19)

    1.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

Roy had been seriously wounded by the Homunculus Lust. He was bleeding to death and looked like he was going to die. Later, the same homunculus is about to kill Alphonse and Riza. When all seemed lost Roy appears with the wound saturated to give us a fire show and kill Lust.

I love this scene because we got to see the strength of Roy Mustang, who for me is the best supporting character of all. Because he went from bleeding out and on the verge of death to saturating his own wound and murdering an almost immortal being. In a stoic and incredible way.

    🔹 4 🔹 Edward vs Father (EP 62)

    2.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

Alphonse sacrifices himself to save his brother. He gives up his body (which at the time was the armor) to return Ed's right arm. After seeing this, Edward explodes in anger and anguish. Causing a frenzy of attacks and blows towards Homunculus Father.

This scene is one of my favorites because it manages to show you a perfect combination of anger and anguish. It's also satisfying to see how the protagonist humiliates the being who wanted to be god.

    🔹 3 🔹 Edward rescues Alphonse (EP 63)

    3.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

After defeating Father, Edward searches almost desperately to bring his brother back. Since he had sacrificed himself. After some thought, he decides to open the door of truth to look for him. Obviously, he has to offer something in return. Cleverly, it occurs to her to offer the door itself as an exchange. This allowed him to practice alchemy. Without almost thinking about it, he makes the sacrifice and manages to rescue his brother.

This scene is wonderful because it surprises the viewer, including me. I really didn't expect such a clever move. And the best part is that after so many chapters, we get to see the brothers get their bodies back.

Realmente, no me esperé esa jugada tan inteligente.

🔹 2 🔹 The death of Hohenheim / La muerte de Hohenheim (EP 63)

    4.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

After defeating the homunculus, Father, Hohenheim decides to visit his wife's grave. He dedicates a few words to her. He makes a monologue that touches anyone. The scene ends when Pinako finds him sitting in front of the tombstone the next day. And she realizes that he died right there with a smile on his face. The opening song plays and the chapter ends.

For me it is impossible to remember or look at this scene without being moved. Seeing Hohenheim rest in peace after so many centuries, captivated me. Besides, those responsible for the series did a great job to convey those feelings.

🔸 1 🔸 The promise of Edward / La promesa de Edward (EP 26)

    5.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

After being swallowed by Gula, the group of Link, Envy and Edward look for a way to get out of her stomach. Ed comes up with the idea of using human transmutation to escape. When he finds himself at the door of truth, he realizes that he is not alone. Alphonse's body is also there. He tries to approach quickly, but the door opens and pulls him inside. When it looked like the scene and the chapter was over, Ed kicks the door open again. Only to promise Alphonse that he will come back for him.

This scene simply makes my skin crawl every time I watch it. That moment where it shows a close-up of Ed raising his finger and making a promise while listening to the ending, it's fucking art. I love this scene so much that I'm going to tattoo the vignette on my arm.

  12. Full Metal Alchemist vs Brotherhood: Which is Better? (Eng-Spa)@pannavi721d

    𝙵𝚞𝚕𝚕 𝙼𝚎𝚝𝚊𝚕 𝙰𝚕𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚖𝚒𝚜𝚝

    FULL VERSION ESPAÑOL

This post is in Spanish and English. You can go to the post in English by clicking HERE

Hello anime fans who belong to #TheAnimeRealm Community. For a long time, I wanted to do a special post about this series that marked my adolescence. It's a popular series that became controversial, and they made an improved version. Today I'm going to talk about Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

I'll give you my point of view, my opinion and answer questions about which is better between the two, why? and which one is worth watching? And if you saw both, let me know in the comments if you think the same as me or want to add something else. I'll be happy to read you. 💕

    -1-

Before answering the questions, I should explain a little of what the story of these brothers is about to give context to people who know nothing about this series.

The story is set in a universe where alchemy allows you to create, repair, and have a better quality of life using this branch of science, but not everyone can do alchemy, and those who can are forbidden to create a human being as it goes against the laws of nature. This is what the Elric Brothers (Edward and Alphonse) did when they wanted to bring their deceased mother back as they were orphaned at a very young age.

    -2-

And here the adventure begins, like all forbidden things, something very bad happened while trying this. Edward lost his arm and his leg while Alphonse lost his whole body, taking into account the law of equivalent exchange that says: that to obtain something of the same value, something must be given in exchange taking into account the same materials in quantity and proportion.

To avoid losing his younger brother, Edward gave up his right arm and left leg in exchange for Alphonse's soul. And so it was attached to a hollow armor using an alchemical mark made from Edward's blood. Since then they joined the State Alchemists at a young age to recover their bodies in search of the famous Philosopher's Stone. With that context, I will answer the first question:

    -3-

𝚆𝚑𝚢 𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚝𝚠𝚘 𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚜 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚒𝚖𝚎 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚊𝚕𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚜𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝚗𝚊𝚖𝚎?

The first version called Full Metal Alchemist started at the same time as the manga, but at a certain point, as expected, the story in the anime caught up with the manga and the manga was slow to catch up, so the creators had two options, continue the story in the anime or cancel it and continue it in the manga. Since it was so popular, they opted for the first option.

So, at a certain point, the story deviates completely from the manga, giving it an alternative ending that leaves many fans unhappy and with many inconsistencies, completely away from the manga story and with an open ending that causes a bittersweet taste for all that the Elric brothers suffered, for me they deserved something better in this version, it left me pretty bad at the time. Which brings me to my second question:

    -4-

𝚆𝚑𝚒𝚌𝚑 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚝𝚠𝚘 𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚜 𝚒𝚜 𝚋𝚎𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛?

For me, both are equally good, as they both tell interesting and original stories. But if I had to choose, I would choose Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, not only because it tells the story according to the manga, but also because of its improved graphics, and added characters that give a spectacular plus to the series itself, but above all because of its ending. An epic ending that meets all the expectations of its fans.

And even though in the first version of this series there are iconic characters with heartbreaking stories like Nina and her little dog Alexander. I mean, this anime version first turned out to be too cruel for my taste and after watching both versions, I completely understood the dissatisfaction of the fans.

    -5-

𝚆𝚑𝚒𝚌𝚑 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚜𝚎 𝚝𝚠𝚘 𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚜 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚠𝚊𝚝𝚌𝚑?

I'll leave this up to you. For my part, I recommend watching both series or if you are a manga fan, reading the manga as such (I didn't because I prefer to watch the anime series). So, if you have the time, I recommend watching the first version of Full Metal Alchemist which has a total of 51 episodes of about 22 minutes.

While the Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood version has a total of 64 episodes. Both stories are very good, and both are worth watching, but if you're short on time, then invest it in Brotherhood. I for one give both versions a go:

𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚍𝚒𝚍 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚔 𝚊𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜? 𝙸 𝚠𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚍 𝚢𝚘𝚞! 𝚂𝚎𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚗𝚎𝚡𝚝 𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎!

I'm going to be direct, FULL METAL ALCHEMIST BROTHERHOOD IS A DAMN WORK OF ART. I've often said that I'm not a fan of anime, but I've considered this series my favorite for a decade and to this day I haven't found anything that can match it, let alone surpass it.

Whenever I have the opportunity, I recommend watching this series. Even to those people who are not used to watching anime. Personally, I think Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood should be watched by everyone. And in this blog I explain the reasons why.

🔹 A STORY WELL DONE / UNA HISTORIA BIEN HECHA 🔹

    1.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

The story is very well structured. That means that everything is perfectly tied together, with no plot holes and no inconsistencies. Apart from being extremely interesting and entertaining, it is very well written. You won't find any "Deus ex machina", everything follows a logic and a sense. I have to say that the author did an excellent job in this sense. You can see all the work and effort in her work.

    2.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

The author managed to bring her characters to life. It is amazing the development of the main characters, how they change and evolve as the chapters go by. Not only them, there are a lot of characters with a development and a change. Even this can be seen in antagonists and villains.

    3.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

If you're like me, you hate too much filler. That's why I have a hard time watching series like One Piece or Naruto. I like the plot to be dynamic and not stagnate for too long. Fortunately, FMA Brotherhood has almost no lulls in its development. I'm not sure, but I think only one episode out of 64 is filler.

    🔹🔸 ROY MUSTANG 🔸🔹

    4.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

So far, I can say with complete certainty that Roy Mustang is the best supporting character I've ever seen. I can't say much, nor give details, but his development is spectacular. And not only that, but also his personality, his role within the series, his story, etc. In my opinion, this character is enough excuse to watch FMA Brotherhood.

    5.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

This series is very philosophical. There is a part where we are introduced to the concept of "one is all and all is one" which is very interesting and leaves you pondering. Not only that, but it touches on heavy topics such as life, death and God. There is even a character who defines himself as "the truth" which is pure and simple philosophy. In a dialogue he tells you "I AM THE BEING YOU CALL THE WORLD, OR MAYBE THE UNIVERSE, OR MAYBE GOD, OR MAYBE THE TRUTH, OR MAYBE THE ALL, OR MAYBE ONE AND I AM YOU". With that sentence we realize the depth that this series handles.

🔹 VERY GOOD OPENING / MUY BUENOS OPENINGS 🔹

I show you only the first openingo for you to appreciate.

I left this aspect last because I know that many people are not interested or care too much about it. This series has 5 openings in 64 episodes and I can say that all of them are very good or excellent. Personally, I never saw the need to omit the intro of this series. Since they change constantly and as I said before, they are all very good.

Welcome dear internet travelers and thank you very much for making a temporary stop in my post, a long time ago I had a conversation in the comment box with @spellcastkeith in which we touched on the subject of the adaptations that the Fullmetal Alchemist manga had and how good they were, at that time I refrained from giving my opinion because I wanted to make a post about it, it takes me a while but here we are (Hell I take 4 months lol) Without more to add get ready to do alchemy since we are about to start.

The manga of Fullmetal Alchemist was created by Hiromu Arakawa, began to be published in 2001 by the hand of the publisher Square Enix, has 27 volumes. The manga had 2 anime adaptations produced by the BONES studio, the first adaptation has the same name as the manga and was released in 2003, was directed by Seiji Mizushima and had 51 chapters; the second adaptation has the name of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, released in 2009 and directed by Hiro Maruyama, has 64 chapters. It is a story of adventure and fantasy, everything revolves around the Elric brothers who live in a country called Amestris, in this country alchemy is of utmost importance since it is a very advanced science that allows alchemists to transmute objects following the rule of equivalent exchange. The father of the boys one day left when they were very young so they were left alone in the care of their mother, unfortunately she is sick and dies; the boys did not want to accept their loss and dared to break the taboo by trying to make a human transmutation, their attempt goes terribly wrong since Edward loses his left leg and Alphonse loses his whole body, in an attempt to recover the only member of his family that edward sacrifices his right arm to bring back his brother's soul and link it to armor. Determined not to continue in this way, they embark on a search for the philosopher's stone in order to ignore the equivalence of exchange and recover their bodies.

The 3 versions have almost entirely the same characters and honestly all are very well characterized in all versions, in turn there is a considerable number of characters so I will limit myself to mentioning the most important actors: Edward and Alphonse Elric the guys who did the unthinkable and tried a human transmutation and now try to recover their bodies, Roy Mustang an army colonel and the one who invites the boys to become state alchemists in order to have access to all kinds of investigations that can be of benefit to them to be able to recover their bodies, Scar an Ishvalano who has a deep resentment for the military for having caused the murder of a large part of his red-eyed brothers, last but not least we have Winry Rockbell, childhood friend of the Elric brothers, is the one who maintains Edward's mechanical parts; in turn he has a great affection for both and considers them part of his family.

The drawing of the manga is extremely stylized and wonderful since it manages to capture wonderful scenes; the adaptations are not far behind at all since the animation they present is dynamic and excellent, logically the animation of Brotherhood is better since it is more recent but with everything and that the first adaptation of the anime looks quite good. The soundtrack of both adaptations is great since it adapts to the different moments that are lived to provide the appropriate musical atmosphere to give emotion or drama to the different scenes.

The construction of the world is very similar in the manga and in Brotherhood since it raises a world in which there is a totalitarian government ruled by the army that has soldiers trained in the use of alchemy that are the most powerful weapon of the State, being the dogs of the government perfectly represents that love and hatred of the population for them; in turn, it also reflects the control that the military has both over its people and the information that circulates through the nation. The explanation given about the use of alchemy is much better achieved in the Brotherhood version than in the manga, giving much more understandable details that facilitate its understanding.

    separador.png

The 2003 adaptation features a similar construction to Brotherhood on alchemy but presents a huge difference in the development of the army; this difference lies in the fact that it presents individuals who are part of the military and act actively either by fulfilling orders in favor of the state or their own interests, the truth of the matter is that this individuality of the secondary characters is demonstrated. Last but not least are the aftermath of Ishval's war that is not only remembered as a tragic event but generates guilt, hatred and resentment in different characters; in the manga and Brotherhood is mentioned but is not treated with the psychological weight it should.

The manga presents a plot that advances at a good pace, the concepts it presents have a logical development and in turn many of these have a closure to conclude the idea they represented; the combats are very well achieved and have a good focus, these are not determined by who is the most powerful but by the one who knows how to make better use of their skills and strategy to succeed in these, it is simply wonderful that you do not make use of power increases so that specific characters win conflicts just because. Brotherhood and the 2003 adaptation do exactly this but better since they give a better explanation about the concepts presented; in some cases they even take the audacity to add new content that does not appear in the manga to make more sense of the events; while Brotherhood also adds some content that did not appear in the manga is the 2003 adaptation that goes further by giving focus to different characters and elements to deepen these and make them much more interesting.

Without a doubt he created that the section of the characters is what differentiates in a more notorious way to the different versions, at this point both the manga and Brotherhood do it in a very similar way since they present a couple of children entering the cruel world of adults, suffer from the rawness of it and must mature soon to be able to move forward and meet their goals, all this journey makes them mature and understand the different nuances that life usually has; outside the Elric brothers the other characters are not given much importance, few are the other characters that manage to have a focus and development like the Elric, the best exponent of these is Colonel Mustang who is seized on more than one occasion by the desire for revenge for the death of one of his friends being that he even achieves a catharsis of his own that makes him evolve. Outside of the colonel and the brothers no other character achieves any kind of development, they obtain an excellent characterization but do not get to delve into these.

    separador.png

The 2003 version does much better in this section, first I will mention the enormous difference that the Elric brothers have from this version, here they also evolve and grow but before doing so they are dejected by all the horrible things in which they are involved, their crises are stronger and they still have that iota of immaturity that is consistent with the fact of being teenagers; the past of the characters is also more detailed in this version and this not only includes the brothers but also other characters such as Mustang, speaking of the colonel I have to say that it seems to me that in this version he is a much more complete character since he has defects and the war in Ishval if it had a greater meaning for his life both positive and negative. The main villain of this version as of the previous ones are identical in the sense of being bad just for the fact of wanting to satisfy some personal desire regardless of the damage that is done to the neighbor by carrying out this, they are basic in general but still feel imposing and threatening; what should be noted is how the homunculi of this version have their own ambitions and desires, this makes them much more interesting by leaving behind that design of being highly obedient pawns as raised by Brotherhood and the manga.

Despite the different versions that Fullmetal Alchemist has, it always presents a very complete, logical and interesting world, where the main message is that it is not always worth making great sacrifices to achieve the goals, thus reflecting the importance of seeing that sometimes it is not worth fulfilling some objectives. The manga deserves a 5.5 star rating out of 7, Brotherhood deserves a 6-star out of 7 rating, and the 2003 adaptation deserves a 6.5 stars out of 7. I can tell you that Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the best jewels ever seen in the world of anime and manga, it is simply wonderful how its 2 adaptations manage to shine in such different ways being Brotherhood a better told version of the manga and the 2003 adaptation a different story that brings completely three-dimensional characters.

After a horrific alchemy experiment goes wrong in the Elric household, brothers Edward and Alphonse are left in a catastrophic new reality. The boys attempted to bring their recently deceased mother back to life. They suffered brutal personal loss: Alphonse's body disintegrated while Edward lost a leg and then sacrificed an arm to keep Alphonse's soul in the physical realm by binding it to a hulking suit of armor.

The brothers are rescued by their neighbor Pinako Rockbell and her granddaughter Winry. Known as a bio-mechanical engineering prodigy, Winry creates prosthetic limbs for Edward by utilizing "automail," a tough, versatile metal used in robots and combat armor. After years of training, the Elric brothers set off on a quest to restore their bodies by locating the Philosopher's Stone: a powerful gem that allows an alchemist to defy the traditional laws of Equivalent Exchange.

  16. Fullmetal Panic spoiler review@herosik1710d

    fmp3 oku eng.jpg

I finished Season 3 of "Fullmetal Panic" recently. This post will be filled with spoilers, because for obvious reasons only fans of this series will read it. A version for those who fell out of curiosity - it's a very good war anime with mechs - I highly recommend watching! This is not shounen, just an adult series. It has a few frivolous, humorous elements and sometimes typical manga characters, but the rest is at a sufficiently high level and if you don't mind Japanese style, you can go ahead and watch it. Anime is a few years old, but still enjoyable to watch. Edit: I am finishing Season 4 and this is where such good things are fucking off that I recommend turning a blind eye to all the flaws! Spoiler - I'll give him 10/10.

    fmp3 1.jpg

From this point on, there are spoilers. At the moment, season 3 is the best, but I've heard that season 4 is even better, so I'll leave the comparisons for the next review. There is a lot of action, the characters have been well developed and especially the relationships between them. I mean the relationship between A.I. Arbalesta and Sousuke, Chidori, and Souske, and Gauron and Souske. I was a bit surprised that the latter survived, but it was explained in a meaningful way, so I'm not complaining. When I was a kid, in Kawaii (an old Polish magazine about manga and anime, from the time when we had modem internet) I read a review of this fairy tale and the reviewer was very surprised that Gauron survived. For some reason, I have remembered this passage until today and have been waiting for this moment. And ... I don't understand why he wrote about it - if only because it was a big spoiler. Yes, you can guess at the beginning that he survived (after the words of these killer girls), but his role was small and did not take too long - probably not even half the episode. However, it was enough to make me feel the strength of his character, just like in season 1. Gauron, although barely alive, probably with injured internal organs, because the rest we could see, having artificially prolonged life for several months, still remained an exceptional motherfucker. Comparing him to the Joker is even more appropriate after this excerpt. He mocked Sagara as if Batman's arch enemy did. The mockery was made all the more forceful this season, we saw that the military, whether in the real world or in the anime, is just as motherfucker when it comes to obeying important orders. Feelings like feelings, but when people in advance tell you to do something, you have to fucking do it without talking. Sagara did use a bucket of cold water to make him realize that he was acting like a soft pipe. I also liked that his words had a double tone, as if Hisoka was criticizing Gon in "Hunter x Hunter". I don't remember any anime (other than FMP) that would better show this type of relationship. Ie an experienced, elderly man who found a youngster with equally great talent, a tough character, but even greater potential, and would like to fight him as often as possible - preferably by fighting to the death. And that hilarious look on his face at the time of his death was great!

    fmp3 2.jpg

    fmp3 4.jpg

    fmp3 3.jpg

It seems to me that Sagara, despite his misconceptions about Chidori status, was willing to help Mithrill deal with the new threat. This was how his behavior could have been interpreted differently, but he did not have time to give a clear answer before his girlfriend showed up, and his words suggested (at least to me) that he would get into the mech and fight anyway. Fortunately, Chidori showed up, and I saw the first scene of this type (which we see in almost every medium, even in the 5th volume of "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" there was such a thing), which I liked and I was not able to criticize or laugh at it . The point is that Sagara was unable to express his feelings because he does not understand them, and the blue-haired girl was ashamed. They always pissed me off, but in FMP and LotGH they came out naturally and normally (noticeably worse in the latter title), just like in life. They were not recolored like most of the cases I have seen. Sagara has never experienced such emotions + he is so anti-social that it does not surprise me at all - I have seen similar cases in real life. Whereas Chidori like women ... If she's not really forced, she won't express her emotions directly, she prefers Sousuke to do it for her. The only problem is that Sousuke doesn't understand xD. I can't wait to watch the next season, I am genuinely curious how their relationship will develop, especially after what Karol wrote to me - "History will go into these areas, that betraying such things spoils a lot."

    fmp3 5.jpg

    fmp 6.jpg

    fmp3 7.jpg

As for the rest, it's unchanged from Season 1 - it's still a great war-themed anime. True, this is realism on the level of semi-serious Hollywood action movies, but there are so many real elements (battle planning, reconnaissance, navigating combat, spies, and more) that I can turn a blind eye to such details. It was nice to return to the main plot after the comedy season 2, especially since the beginning is very effective, and the rest of the episodes do not stand out in terms of level and plot content. We got more information about Mithrill, the geopolitical situation, we got to know better the military structure and relations between Mithrill and representatives of the most important countries in the world. The cool thing is that not only Russians and Americans have such technology. By the way, it's interesting that the best pilots of robots equipped with Lamda Drive (or at least that's what I think after the episodes so far) are cowboys, people with a highly individual approach to life, who are characterized by high intelligence, exceptional skills, huge cojones and a bit of arrogance. Kind of like the main character of the movie "First Man" and a lot of astronauts. Such was Gauron and Gates, and so is Sagara.

    fmp3 8.jpg

In terms of action and graphic aspects (animation, dash, CGI), this season was even better than the first. There was a lot of blood, brutal scenes (twice I was genuinely surprised to see something like this in the anime - for example, these two killers, Gauron's friends), just honey for lovers of this type of atmosphere. Each battle gave me a lot of fun and I watched many fragments twice in a row. Especially the clash in an underground tunnel in China or during the suppression of a military junta revolt in one of the countries. The final match was fun, Sagara had a dragon entrance, but ... In my opinion, this is the weakest fight. Don't get me wrong, I really liked it, especially in the context of the perfect cooperation between the AI of the main character's machine and its owner, but previous skirmishes made a stronger impression on me. Summing up, they did not make my jaw drop towards my ass with delight, but it was close. Speaking of Arbalest and Sousuke, I enjoyed their conversations. First, the AI told him that he was so weak and that he was the problem, but when the moment of trying came, they worked well together. Sousuke made good use of the possibilities offered by alien technology (electronics and something like psionic powers), and Arbalest was able to focus on enemies and threats that his pilot did not see.

    fmp3 9.jpg

All in all, this anime is so good that it is worth watching at least 1 season. He is almost 20 years old on the back of his neck, but as I wrote before, he is as good to watch as modern anime. Season 3 is a great show that provides a lot of relaxation after work. You can see that the author of manga and books is working with them - the anime clearly stands out on the script level from most of the competitors. My rating is 9/10.

    Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood review.jpg

Hello my people, for more than two years I had been recommending this anime, and when I finally decided to watch it, I realized that it had two versions, so I had to investigate what was the difference, the first one that came out in 2003, was not faithful to the manga and this many fans did not like it, but there are others who are very fond of this version because it was the first they saw, a few years later would come out the second version more faithful to the manga, and this is the one that many catalog as one of the best anime of the stories, The truth is that this did not convince me I am not to follow the herd, but when I saw it, I realized all its popularity, and really they are right is a work of art, everything in this work has a why, a so that, has such a solid foundation that it is impossible or almost impossible to find errors in the plot, something very common in any audiovisual production that is known, but in this case is a jewel not only of anime, if not animation in general.

It all begins with a story that we all feel in common, some children who lose their beloved mother, they want her back and therefore begin to learn the art of alchemy, but all this results in disaster, as one of the brothers loses his body, and the other breaks his leg, and then his arm when he tries to recover the soul of his brother, then they must travel this world, looking for the philosopher's stone, and thus restore their bodies, but everything gets complicated, the plot escalates to a point where they themselves doubt if they should really get their bodies back or accept this fate, as many people around them are in danger, or dying, this is an interesting point of the series, which plays a lot with double standards, making us doubt about what is good or bad in this world, entering, to analyze what for us is the concept of good and evil.

Shonen genre within the manga and anime, is located mostly for men and contains a lot of action, its previous version of 2003 had more drama than anything else, and in this more current version, the action scenes achieve a quality of animation that even today other anime would envy, another point of the strong, is not to put the protagonist as a God, and always win, in fact more than once he loses, although he is a genius with talent, it does not make him perfect and win them all, and in fact his younger brother in many cases has better capabilities than him, another strong point are the songs, everything is where it should be, none of them feels like it is too much, each piece becomes special at the right time, if I had to see something bad that is not a big deal either, is that the leader of the country and the alchemists is called the funrer and you quickly identify that he is the bad guy or that he has an association with the bad guys, so when the time comes to see him as a traitor you really are not too surprised, and what can I say I am one of those who recommend watching and reading the other original, as the story is more consistent and you feel that everything really connects in a clear way without strong plot holes.

  18. The exciting story of the Elric brothers@claudio831944d

I was not aware of the community of Anime and Manga fans, and that's what characterized my teenage life a little bit with Naruto, One Piece and many others. But one anime and manga that I particularly loved is Full Metal Alchemist (Hagane no renkinjutsushi original title), a manga written and drawn by Hiromu Arakawa. I read the manga for the first time at the age of 15/16, on a suggestion from my friend and owner of the comic, and I was immediately attracted by the beauty of the drawings, so well made and cared for.

    Fma01.jpg Font

The story follows young alchemists Edward and Alphonse Elric, two brothers traveling to the nation of Amestris in search of the legendary philosopher's stone with the aim of regaining their original bodies lost in a human transmutation that went wrong. During their journey they will discover a plan orchestrated by seven beings called homunculus that could destroy the country if not stopped in time.

The plot is actually much more delicate and human than you might think, the transmutation, a particular complex magic called alchemy, allows you to bind the soul of a deceased to a body in exchange for a part of your body. In an attempt to bring the brothers' mother to life, the transmutation carried out is wrong and this costs the loss of Edward's left leg and the entire body of his brother, but managing, by sacrificing his right arm, to bind his brother's soul. AL to an armor. Edward's limbs are replaced with mechanical prostheses called automail.

Hence the brothers' journey in search of the philosopher's stone, an alchemical object capable of nullifying the principle of equivalent exchange, and thus regaining their original bodies. A very compelling story, full of twists, full of dangers as the philosopher's stone is the object of desire even of the evil homunculus, a group of human-looking creatures with strong fighting abilities and the ability to regenerate their wounds thanks the use of the philosopher's stones.

I really recommend to those who have never read comics and are fond of manga, to discover one of the most beautiful works I have read. There is also an anime, really well done, but maybe having seen it after reading the manga, it didn't give me the same emotions. If you like the fantasy genre but really very excited, as only manga can do, Full Metal Alchemist is the perfect manga and I am sure that I will find wide support from the community

Now I write about anime. Its been a long time since I dont write about anime and I want to come back with one of my favorite, because its the best shonen anime that I’ve ever watch: fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. The second adaptation by the manga fullmetal; this time, adapting all along and with more attached to the manga, con a better animation and with a perfect end.

When we speak about fullmetal we can speak about so many thing. We can do an characters analysis one by one and even so fall short, explained all the history and the development itself. Showing the analogies that the anime transmit, give it to us a funny history for the children, and a perfect history for the adult one.

Its common in this kind of anime see something too cliché. A principal character that he is not the best, but with training and talent will be, with “the power of hope” he achieves him objective, that may be a little egoistic. That’s is one of the most important different between a common shonen and FMAB, the principal character. Edward isn’t the best the anime can give, but thanks to him we understand what the anime is not like all we see in the past (obviously, when we talk about shonen).

    FMA-characters.jpg

With just 64 episodes, FMAB development characters which a worthy way to admire, and also bring us a history completely fresh that it works for everyone, with tiny touch of moral, greed, politics and obviously, because is a “anime for children”, comedy and fantasy. It’s a anime which I’ve been watch three times now and I really don’t found one bad point for no watch it, so, if for some reason you don’t watch it yet and you are reading this, What are you waiting for?

    My Anime Rating System:

    1/10 Don't watch this anime

2/10 Awful, I wouldn't even bother wasting my time watching this anime

3/10 Bad, not a good anime, it's really bad

4/10 Not good at all, I would rather see something better

5/10 Meh, it bored me after watching it through the begining to end

6/10 Okay, it wasn't the best, but had some good ideas in there.

7/10 Good, it's a good show. (However, most of the time, a 7 can either be that I thought it was a good show, and had good elements, but it's not something I'll come back to again, depending on what the show is, or how it went. Most of the time, it will be a show that I'll watch once)

8/10 Great, it's a great show with alot of stuff in it that will make you continue to watch it, even if it has some issues in story or plot, it's still worth watching, even if there's no flaws, just depends on what it is

9/10 Awesome, it's really awesome, so much epicness in this anime

10/10 Excelente, 100%, watch this anime, you will love it

Bonus Rating System - If an anime is Good and Great, at the same time (or at least getting up there) 7.5/10 and so on. It can also be a boost of how much I liked this anime and because it's really good or brilliant. Not to mention, the F***Up rating for an anime that is like....Wha?

In an austere and unforgiving world such as ours, rarely does anyone get the chance for a do-over.

Even when such a do-over would be the best possible outcome, people are hesitant to make such a move. Consider Star Wars, for example.

The moment Disney obtained the rights to the franchise, their first move should have been to remake the prequels. Because it doesn't make sense to put a new floor on the house if the foundation is cracked.

Yet that apparently did not occur to them, and they went a different way. A lot of people don't like the end result, and others have mixed feelings about it, yet the real problem, I would argue, was not anything in the movies themselves, but the fact that the franchise was already broken when they got it. Yet they refused to repair those problems before forging onward.

    Japan Shows Us the Way

Yet, rare as they are, occasionally a do-over will actually grace the world. Japan is a lot better at this than most western countries. They learned that the Dragonball Z filler episodes were a mistake, so they created Dragonball Z Kai, which removes them. They sometimes re-engineer shows to make them more cohesive, removing episodes from canon or retconning faulty storylines.

They are even known to go back and re-animate episodes of anime, to make them look more polished for the DVD release.

And while this approach has its drawbacks (look no further than the Star Wars Special Editions to see movie revisions gone wrong) it can, in the right hands, be used to repair and even enhance the viewer experience.

Take, as an example, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

    A Triumphant Comeback

The original Fullmetal Alchemist anime was...a beautiful wreck.

What started with such well paced character development ended with a phoned-in explanation that didn't make a lot of sense and was not emotionally satisfying.

Yet that was the series I watched first. I had been told, by unreliable sources, that the first series was actually the better of the two. I must conclude, therefore, that these unreliable sources had not watched FMA:B beyond the first part.

The show is divided into five parts, and the first is definitely the worst. Part 1 of FMA:B is dedicated to recapping all of the opening storylines found in the earlier series. These recaps take the form of brief, bare-bones depictions of the events, and do not serve the story well.

In the future, it may be possible to improve Fullmetal Alchemist anime further by combining the earlier episodes of FMA with everything in FMA:B from part 2 onward. As it stands now, FMA:B oddly requires the viewer to already be familiar with FMA in order to get the full experience.

However, there can be no question that FMA:B is the better series overall. A bad beginning can be overlooked, but a bad ending can not be forgiven.

    The Story

Once upon a time, two boys find themselves living out a tragedy as their mother succumbs to an unknown disease.

Using the science of alchemy, which they learn partly from their estranged father's books and partly from a stern teacher, they endeavor to bring their mother back to live by transmuting her back together from basic materials.

The process, as you already know from the earlier series, goes horribly wrong, with the older brother losing his right arm and left leg. The younger brother, likewise, loses his entire body and becomes little more than a wayward soul which gets attached to a conveniently adjacent suit of armor, allowing him to live as a kind of animated shell.

The boys, in an attempt to recover their lost body parts, decide to undergo an intense study of alchemy in the only way that is available---by joining the military.

After a number of adventures, it becomes apparent that someone is trying to stop them from attaining their goal. These are the homunculi, a mysterious race of almost-humans who serve a dark purpose.

Up until now, this is the same story in both versions of the anime. Where it differs is in who the homunculi are working for.

    The Villains

In the original anime, they're working for some old crone who selfishly wants immortality.

Dante is such a lackluster villain, with such poor motivations, that it's easy to write her off entirely. And I do.

I am reminded of a quote by an obscure filmmaker of decades past:

The more successful the villain, the more successful the picture. ALFRED HITCHCOCK
A story shines with the strength of its villains, and the original FMA anime simply didn't have a good one. Her plan was half baked. Her relationship with the protagonists (and with Hohenheim) was weak. And her sway over the homunculi was utterly inexplicable.

Brotherhood, on the other hand, gives us a far more menacing adversary, in the form of "Father".

This baddie has already reached immortality, and is now in search of something greater. He is the embodiment of scientific inquiry into the nature of the divine, and the reasoning for his control of the homunculi is both clear and reasonable.

And the final confrontation with him is an intense battle that brings together all the various heroes to contribute in a single glorious battle for the fate of the world.

Whereas Dante met her end in an elevator...with none of the heroes present.

    The Other Characters

As stated above, one of the things the original FMA does better than FMA:B is the early character development.

But that's not to say that FMA:B doesn't develop some of the characters better.

While Mustang, Hughes, and other military members get more attention in the original (to the detriment of the Elric brothers, even), Brotherhood gives some much needed fleshing out to Scar, Hohenheim, and others who were neglected by the earlier attempt.

All of the Homunculi, except for Lust, are better handled here than they were in FMA. Hawkeye is given her own backstory. And we get an entirely new delegation of characters from the country of Xing, who have come to Amestris hoping to find an alchemical method of saving their emperor's life.

And, though I already mentioned Scar, I need to point out just how much better he is in FMA:B. In the original series, he felt like he had accidentally wandered in to the story from a different show. Here he is integrated far better, and has more to offer.

    The Humor

One of my biggest shocks, when transitioning from the old to the new series, was how much more "cartoony" Brotherhood is than the original series.

In a lot of anime, it's not unusual for characters to symbolically change form based upon their current emotional state, becoming "chibi" versions, or having their eyes light up with fire, or having their teeth get sharper.

These are not meant to be interpreted as literal changes to the characters physical forms, but as changes to the way they are perceived by other characters.

Yet the original FMA did not have a lot of this. It seemed to go out of its way to avoid it, whereas FMA:B used it as often as any typical anime. The difference was striking. And I feel like the latter series benefits from a better sense of humor and from not taking itself so seriously.

    My Judgment

Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood is a better anime and a better show than the original Fullmetal Alchemist.

Though its a shame that you have to watch the earlier series in order to truly "get" the later one.

Even with its many improvements, it's still not my favorite anime, but it's a solid piece of work that deserves appreciation. And the fact that Netflix gives us both versions is testament to the platform's commitment to bringing Japanimation to a broad audience.

Give it a watch. It's an enjoyable ride.

Fullmetal Alchemist , .

It is a very nice anime which teaches us many things like science. In that show their is a time period of 1901 in which their are two thinking among people's 1st Alcamist and 2nd miracle. Arcamist are scientists who follow only one rule of forming things from a thing of equal value also the hero of the show is a Alcamist who has special ability every Alcamist need to draw an transmuttation circle before changing form of any substance into another but some how the hero found a way to do as all Alcamist without drawing an transmuttation circle anytime and anywhere also the hero is a 14year old boy I recommend everyone to watch the show. 55. fullmetal alchemist brotherhood give it a look@scvwolf3120d

I finally took the time to see the new version of Full Metal Alchemist (Brotherhood) when I returned from my trip. Actually, although the beginning was known, the way the story unfolds caught me quite (although I missed the "Sloth" of the first version) and the 2nd ED loved it.20120126-alchemistkid.png The story does not vary in its premise ... 2 alchemist brothers who lose their mother. In trying to resurrect it, they only manage to harm themselves and it is the search to recover what is lost, what manages the plot. The trip of both brothers is more raw and violent than in the previous adaptation and some characters just presented to us (of course, if they read the manga, they already knew them). The characters of Riza and Winry seem to me to be more explored, and we have a more deified Roy. For their part, the brothers have harder characteristics, like forced to mature drastically.

When I decided to choose one of the 8 OP / ED songs, I started with the first OP (Again) but the more I listened to it, the more I remembered "Let it all out." And how personally, lately I'm being more honest with myself same (or more susceptible, because I'm no longer enduring to be disturbed by certain people: P) I decided to focus on this song that tries to free us from our bonds.

The letter calls to replace everything that imprisons us in dreams and stars, that we leave what hurts us and we show ourselves as we are. Music, whose refrain is sticky, we are excited by its strength to call us to make decisions. A good way to capture the how, despite everything happened, the Elric get up and go to find a way to recover what was lost.

  61. Fullmetal Alchemist --- (Motivational Series #5)@tegoshei3223d

Hello Steemians! A wonderful day to all! In this post, I'll be sharing the 5th entry of my Motivational Series...

Here's the link of the fourth entry. --> https://steemit.com/motivational/@tegoshei/boku-dake-ga-inai-machi-erased-motivational-series-4

I hope you enjoy and learn something from this entry, too.

The following quotes that you're about to read are from the anime, ***"Fullmetal Alchemist"***. It's a world where ***alchemy*** is widely practiced. Basically, the anime revolves around the life of the ***Elric brothers*** and their search for the ***Philosopher's Stone*** to achieve their goals. It's a really interesting one, so if you haven't watched it yet... I recommend you do. ^^
So my dear friends, here are the ***quotes*** from the said anime...
    ---
    ## *A lesson without pain is meaningless. For you cannot gain something without sacrificing something else in return. But once you recovered it and made it your own... You will gain an irreplaceable Fullmetal heart.*
Sometimes in life, we learn lessons the hard way... However, we shouldn't take it to heart. Life is never easy. It's a rollercoaster ride after all. Having said that, try to imagine life as a very straight path without a single bump. Looks great, right? But do you think it's exciting?
Of course, we all year for a ***perfect*** life, but the thought of it remains ideal. Personally, I believe that there's no perfect life, but we can try to live perfectly... and there's a big difference between these two.
Life, in itself, is a challenge. We need to be strong in order to survive. Let's not take our failures for granted. They are also very important. Let's accept and learn from them. Through various experiences, may they be good or bad, we become stronger. Our once fragile self would level up to a fullmetal one.
    ---
    ## *Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange.*
Yes... that's the law of alchemy. **BUT**... Life is NOT alchemy! In life, we can be selfless and give without expecting anything in return. I suppose, being selfless is one of the hardest thing to do especially in a world full of greed and pride.
I won't be a hyprocrite and be honest... ***I am not selfless***, but I can be! Sometimes, when you give something and expect others to do the same thing to you but they don't... you'll only feel disappointed. ***EXPECTATIONS*** hurt big time!
However, when you give with less to no expectation, everything turns out better. If you don't receive anything, it's fine!... and if you do, **HAPPINESS** can embrace you!
It's actually relatable here in Steemit. We expect for upvotes, comments and resteems. Well, that's normal! However, if you expect too much... you might get disappointed.
In my case, I write or post things that make me happy... because if my posts were ignored, I still had fun making it. :) And on the brighter side, when people of the same interest or like-minded Steemians check my post and appreciate it, then it's double the happiness and enjoyment. :)
In the end, I suggest everyone to write or post things that you want to share... something that you enjoy talking about the most. I believe that when you enjoy what you're doing, others would also have a light heart and enjoy what you did as well. :)
    ---
    ## *Nothing is perfect, the world is not perfect... but it's there for us, trying the best it can... That's what makes it beautiful.*
I couldn't agree more! ***Imperfection*** is what makes life more colorful.
I'm not the *perfectionist* type for I always thought that *if everything were perfect, it would be pretty boring*.
Well maybe, we can appreciate perfection for quite some time. ***BUT***, human as we are, we never get satisfied! We seek for more. We strive for something even greater than the *perfection* we are experiencing. It's an endless process of dissatisfaction!
But then, if we know how to appreciate **"imperfection", we won't be that greedy for more. If we know how to value the littlest of things, then it would be easier for us to find satisfaction and happiness.
I'm not saying that we should settle for less. ***DREAMING is a great thing!*** However, we should also acquaint ourselves with the **ACCEPTANCE, APPRECIATION and SATISFACTION***.
Be happy, my friend! Life might be imperfect but it's beautiful... If you don't find it beautiful, then... CHANGE! Change yourself... your perception and everything else will follow! ***Start within yourself!*** Good luck! ^^
    ---
    ### Here's a bonus sketch from me to you! :)

    P_20170910_203048_1.jpg

This is a character from the same anime, ***Fullmetal Alchemist***. He's one of my favorites! He's called ***Roy Mustang***!

  62. Anime Review: Fullmetal Alchemist@xdark233297d

Fullmetal Alchemist is widely considered a landmark anime series that forever changed the typical Shōnen genre–as well as anime as a whole–through its combining of various elements in a way that had never been done before.

For those who don’t know, “Shōnen” is a genre of manga/anime that is typically humorous, action-packed, and features a male lead character. Some examples are Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, and Rurouni Kenshin.
