    Understated and not Hollywood.

The world of Harry Brown is brought to life very well, it isn't what you might expect a retired serviceman to be living. Instead it is dirty, seedy and crime ridden.

The action isn't over the top like Hollywood can be, and if you can look past some of the minor errors like how well a person with emphazema can move in the movie. Then this is a very well done and enjoyable movie.

Here we have Harry a retired Royal Marine, his life is going from the hospital to visit his wife or play chess with an old friend in the pub. After his wife passes on he learns that the local gang has been harassing his friend.

When his friend is beaten to death by the gang and Harry follows up with the police he finds that they don't have enough evidence and are not willing to pursue the case further. Now that Harry has nothing to do and no one else to visit he starts following the gang.

Various events unfold and the police are unwilling to entertain any possibility that a frail old man could be involved in dealing out justice. The police put things down to rival gangs or even an internal gang struggle for power.
