Saludos Cinéfilos de la fabulosa Comunidad #CineTV. La semana pasada me enteré de la muerte de una gran actriz mejor conocida como Michelle Trachtenberg. Su muerte me causó mucha impresión, ya que la admiraba mucho y más aún, teníamos casi la misma edad. Así que este post quiero dedicarlo a ella y mi película favorita de esta fantástica actriz llamada Ice Princess.
Michelle Trachtenberg fue una actriz que inició en el mundo cinematográfico a muy temprana edad, abriéndose camino por sí misma al participar en propagandas con apenas 3 años y posteriormente en series que la impulsarían a la fama como Clarissa lo Explica Todo o The Adventures of Pete & Pete, esta última perteneciente a Nickelodeon.
Pero para mí, uno de sus trabajos más destacados es de la película que les vengo a hablar hoy, se trata de Sueños Sobre Hielo, donde se cuenta la historia de una chica llamada Casey que en busca de conseguir una beca para la universidad le dan la oportunidad de armar un proyecto de física que le permita participar para obtenerla.
Y vemos a esta chica que impulsada por sus conocimientos incursiona en el mundo del patinaje artístico (tema que se notaba en un principio que le gustaba mucho) y pues una cosa lleva a la otra. Al final, para poner a prueba sus teorías ella decide aplicar sus fórmulas en sí misma para demostrarle a los estudiosos de Harvard que su descubrimiento era válido, lo que no tenía en cuenta es que para llegar a eso, se despertaría en ella una pasión incontenible por el patinaje sobre hielo.
Es así que decide luchar por lo que desea contra viento y marea hasta lograrlo, sin importar lo que los demás piensen o digan de ella, simplemente decidió ir tras su sueño por su propio mérito y la confianza con la que Michelle interpreta a su personaje, es simplemente admirable.
Este film es uno de mis favoritos porque conecto con el personaje de Casey cada vez que la veo. Imponer su punto de vista, creencia y opinión de manera firme ante dos madres controladoras que sólo quieren que ella haga lo que cada una cree netamente conveniente sin importar los sentimientos de Casey, para mí fue la parte más importante de la película.
Si yo hubiera estado en su lugar, pues definitivamente me hubiera ido mal, mi confianza estaría por el piso y mis padres me darían la espalda sin dudarlo mucho. Yo por mi parte estaría echándome a morir, dándole la razón a los demás. Así que ver este film me hace renovar la fe en mí misma y brindarme valor cuando las cosas van mal en mi vida, es algo así como darme consuelo a través de un simple personaje.
Esto fue Michelle para mí, una chica increíble que marcó mi vida con un personaje tan sencillo y conmovedor como el de Casey. Y me es lamentable su muerte a tan temprana edad, con tan sólo 39 años. Por lo que tengo entendido fue por un problema de un trasplante de hígado que se hizo hace unas semanas atrás y su cuerpo lo rechazó.
Ella al igual que muchas personas, tenía problemas con el alcohol, lo que la hizo desarrollar una enfermedad grave en la que necesitaba con urgencia un trasplante de hígado para mejorar. Lamentablemente no salió bien y lo que más tristeza me da es ver cómo su vida se iba apagando al ingresar a su cuenta de Instagram y ver las pocas selfies que compartía constantemente.
Otra cosa que me dolió fue ver que fueron muy pocos los artistas con los que ella trabajó quienes le rindieron homenaje en sus respectivas redes sociales. Fue duro ver que su muerte pasó desapercibida, o al menos así lo percibí. Por mi parte yo la recordaré por su gran trabajo a lo largo de tantos años con papeles en series y películas, cuya interpretación es memorable.

En cuanto a la película Ice Princess, para mí es y seguirá siendo mi película favorita sobre patinaje artístico, por el empeño que le puso Michelle para interpretar este personaje. ¿Sabían que ella tuvo que aprender a patinar así de bien durante 10 meses? Por lo que sí, fue ella quien hizo todas las escenas patinando artísticamente. Por esta razón le otorgo sus bien merecidas:

Greetings Cinephiles of the fabulous #CineTV Community. Last week I learned of the death of a great actress better known as Michelle Trachtenberg. Her death made a big impression on me, as I admired her a lot, and even more, we were almost the same age. So I want to dedicate this post to her and my favorite movie of this fantastic actress called Ice Princess.
Michelle Trachtenberg was an actress who started in the film world very young. She made her way by participating in commercials when she was only three years old and later in series that would propel her to fame, such as Clarissa Explains It All or The Adventures of Pete & Pete, the latter of which belongs to Nickelodeon.
But for me, one of his most outstanding works is the film I'm going to talk about today, Ice Princess, which tells the story of a girl named Casey who, in search of a college scholarship, is allowed to put together a physics project that will enable her to participate to obtain it.
And we see this girl who, driven by her knowledge, ventures into the world of figure skating (a subject that it was clear at the beginning that she liked) and one thing leads to another. In the end, to test her theories, she decides to apply her formulas on herself to prove to the Harvard scholars that her discovery was valid, what she didn't take into account is that to get there, she would awaken in her an uncontainable passion for ice skating.
This is how she decides to fight for what she wants against all odds until she achieves it, no matter what others think or say about her, she simply decided to go after her dream on her merit, and the confidence with which Michelle plays her character, is simply admirable.
This film is one of my favorites because I connect with Casey's character every time I watch it. Imposing her point of view, belief and opinion firmly in the face of two controlling mothers who only want her to do what each one thinks is neatly convenient regardless of Casey's feelings, to me was the most important part of the film.
If I had been in their shoes, well, I would have been in a bad way, my confidence would be on the floor, and my parents would have turned their backs on me without much hesitation. I for my part would be throwing myself to death, giving the reason to others. So watching this film makes me renew my faith in myself and gives me courage when things go wrong in my life, it's something like giving me comfort through a simple character.
This was Michelle for me, an amazing girl who marked my life with such a simple and touching character as Casey. And I am saddened by her death at such a young age, only 39 years old. From what I understand, it was due to a problem with a liver transplant she had a few weeks ago and her body rejected it.
She, like many people, had problems with alcohol, which caused her to develop a serious illness in which she urgently needed a liver transplant to get better. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out well and what saddens me the most is to see how her life was fading away by logging into her Instagram account and seeing the few selfies she was constantly sharing.
Another thing that hurt me was to see that very few of the artists she worked with paid tribute to her in their respective social networks. It was hard to see that her death went unnoticed, or at least that's how I perceived it. For my part, I will remember her for her great work over so many years with roles in series and movies, whose interpretation is memorable.

As for the movie Ice Princess, for me it is and will remain my favorite figure skating movie, because of the effort Michelle put into playing this character. Did you know that she had to learn to skate this well for 10 months? So yes, she was the one who did all the figure skating scenes. For this reason I give her her well-deserved:
