  1. Insecure Season 4 Ep 3 - Review@wolfofnostreet2247d

It's another episode and the Insecure characters are feeling Lowkey Thankful. The episode starts off at Lawrence's place. Lawrence invites Condola for Thanksgiving dinner at his friend's place but she declines as she already has plans to host her own Thanksgiving dinner at her place. This comes off as a surprise to Lawrence and he asks if he could attend hers instead. Wasn't she going to invite him if he didn't ask? 🤷

Lawrence finds out one of the investors at work sold out his shares and this puts fellow coworkers at risk of losing their jobs as there are talks about downsizing already. He however isn't bothered about losing his job because he's the only black person on his team and who fires the only black person?. He's worried about not getting promoted and being stuck in the same place instead of moving forward.

Lawrence runs into Issa at the coffee shop and they make movie jokes like old times but Condola doesn't seem to catch up on the jokes as she joins Lawrence. There's a moment of awkwardness and Issa quickly bids the couple goodbye as she leaves and catches a glimpse of them being lovey-dovey on her way out.

Issa and Molly are out shopping for Thanksgiving and Molly points out Issa is acting like everything is alright with Condola but Issa says it's all round love and talks about Molly's situation with Andrew. They come at each other at this point and both agree they have been off for the past couple of months. They decide to talk it off at pie time after Thanksgiving dinner at Molly's parent's house later.

Issa and her brother Ahmal are at a Mexican restaurant for their little dinner and the siblings have a deep conversation. Issa opens up about feeling like Condola is reaping off all her investment in Lawrence. She dated the guy with potential, the work in progress and someone else is enjoying the results. Her brother tells her it's okay to feel that way and be herself, everyone else can deal. She texts Molly she was going to be late for pie time.

Molly is at her parent's house and she tells her mom about her boyfriend Andrew, she's surpised her mom would have loved to have Andrew over for Thanksgiving as she thought that'd be doing too much. Her mom let's her know she'd never be too much for a guy that likes her.

Over at Condola's place, Lawrence is getting along fine with her friends and they're having a good drink. Lawrence finds out from a drunk guest that he is Condola's rebound after her divorce. Lawrence confronts Condola about this after the dinner. Condola tells Lawrence drunk Nicki was just drunk and she had no idea why she would say that to Lawrence. Lawrence asks if she's still getting down with her ex and Condola quickly says she should be the one worried about Lawrence because he still had Issa around. She then asks if he'd still be with Issa if she hadn't cheated on him and Lawrence has no answer.

Issa drops off her brother at his place and then texts Molly to cancel on pie time for the night. An already frustrated Molly replies, "yup, that's fine" as she tries to bond with her family. She hands her father a cake which signals a journey to forgiveness as she had been pissed at her old man from season three after finding out he once cheated on her mom.

Lawrence is sat on his couch watching instagram stories of all his friends' Thanksgiving moments and he comes across Issa's dinner with her brother, a Mexican band playing for the siblings. He sends an emoji and Issa replies immediately. A song A Case of the Ex plays off into the ending credits of the show.

Pheww....this episode had me glued. The friendship between Issa and Molly seems to be wavering and I like how they both identify that and agree it needs to be talked about. Most often, friends know there's a problem but never really want to face it off. I look forward to the girls talking it out next episode.

On Lawrence and Condola, the grounds of the relationship are being tested. Finding out Condola actually intended Lawrence as a fuckbuddy and ohh, she doesn't want to ever get married again?? I didn't put that up there but yeah, at the dinner Lawrence also found out she has no interest in getting married and that put him off. So let's say maybe she initially wanted Lawrence as a rebound but now she really likes him, how about not wanting to start a family? It doesn't seem to fit in with Lawrence's plans and that's a problem right there.

So there's been a debate on this episode, does Issa have a right to feel the way she did about Lawrence? She spent five years with Lawrence, she paid the rent, got food, she was the supporter the whole time and Lawrence sat his ass home all day holding on to dreams. She fucked up and she cheated. Now Lawrence had it going well for him and he's doing all the things he never did for Issa with Condola. I can't fault Issa thinking this way to be honest. But she gotta let that man go, it is what it is.

I am excited about the next episode unlike how I felt after this episode. I'm loving Lawrence's character development, he's got a better life now but still insecure as he might not be getting promoted at work. We can't tell for sure if he's over Issa but the next episode might just be our eyeopener.

Thanks for reading, be sure to stop by during the week for the next episode.

  2. Insecure Season 4 Ep 2 Review@wolfofnostreet2254d

I'm back like I never left with another Insecure review. So I had talked about being friends with your ex's new boo in a previous review here. In this episode, Issa and Condola talked about not making things weird between them and not letting Lawrence interfere in this blooming, promising friendship. Now they got that out their chests

Issa and her girls, Molly, Kelli and Tiff are in her apartment for their usual Friday night get together. Molly complains about Andrew (Asian Bae) being really distant, not opening up to her and wanting more in the relationship or situationship. The girls think it's okay for Molly to be in her feelings and want to slow things down, except Kelli who doesn't like the idea of putting the pussy on pause.

Next scene reveals the big ass clapping butt cheeks of Issa's fuck buddy. He's very dutiful and takes Issa to church with the missionary. The used condom is however stuck in Issa and we see her struggle getting it out but not without disappointment from her mirror self.

Lawrence is super weirded out by the friendship between his ex Issa and his current girlfriend Condola because he feels all the girls do is talk about him and that makes him insecure. I'd be weirded out by that too 🤷 He then goes over to Issa's to talk it out and she assures him they're really not talking about him so much but she agrees to tone it down a little anyway.

Molly cooks quite a salty dinner for her and Asian bae, insisting they eat in instead. just to get him to open up. It's however a flop during the dinner as Asian bar still is a hard nut to crack and Molly wants a guy with depth. This has Asian bae storming out of Molly's house because everything is an issue with Molly and he thinks she's acting out because there isn't any label to their relationship yet.

Asian bae calls some other day and apologizes to Molly though, saying he just needs time and he'd be able to let Molly into his space.

I think this episode was nothing out of the ordinary. I mean, I was so pumped about it but it just seemed like no effort was put into the story. From the first episode I expected Lawrence would talk to Issa about toning down her friendship with Condola but it was just that. It didn't leave me in suspense or hyped for the next episode.

I really do not know why Lawrence is still on the show though. Is he meant to get back with Issa at some point? He's got his own thing going on now and was only a drag to Issa's life. There is currently no feelings between the ex's. He's better off the show, a strong character that'd do well on his own show. There are infact a lot of string characters on this show and it feels they all should star in their own shows.

For Molly, I like that she really wants to know this guy and build something with him. It'd be good to forget the married childhood friend she been fucking.

Thanks for reading, until the next episode, your dutiful Insecure review maestro here.

  3. Insecure Season 4 Ep 1 Review@wolfofnostreet2260d

Every now and then, we all want to connect with a movie or TV show that better expresses how we feel and HBO's Insecure does just that for me.

Set in the urban area of Inglewood, LA is this comedy-drama detailing the life of Issa Dee (Issa Rae) as she faces life as an awkward black girl (awkward black girl here) battling relationships, friendships, finances and fulfilling her dreams.

Season 4 takes off in her apartment, doing yoga stretches with her best friend Molly (Yvonne Orji) and talking about Issa being focused despite no job, no man. Good vibes only

Issa's block party plans from season 3 is still in place. She had her planning coordinator Condola (Christina Elmore) making sure the party was going to be hit, Issa was really impressed with her. They get along so well and are having a chitty chat when they both realize the new guy Condola had been yapping about is in fact, Issa's ex. It gets even more awkward when Condola realizes the ex couple dated for five years.

Now they both try to play it cool but it obviously isn't as there's tension between the ladies. It isn't like a bad vibes kinda tensed, just really really awkward that it has Issa's wild imagination creating weird images. She imagines Condola and Lawrence her ex, Condola's new boo, rumpo all over her apartment in a 'in your face' fashion. She tries to overlook it and be professional as Condola is really competent at her job as a party coordinator.

Molly on the other hand isn't enthusiastic about Issa still being friends with Condola cos, who still remains friends with someone dating their ex? The block party is a success and Issa is happy, all cherry faced as she cleans up the yard with Molly's help after the party. Issa has a lil talk with Molly about how Molly seems to really like a guy, Andrew, she had been having fun with. Molly then points out Issa still keeps Condola close because she still wants an access to Lawrence and enjoys here life being messy. Issa barely engages Molly in this discussion.

This in my opinion is a typical case of friends projecting their insecurities on their friends. Molly comes off as that friend that only feels good about herself when her friend Issa is going through one shit or another. Here is Issa happy about the night's achievement and Molly felt it the right moment to call her life messy. Coming from someone dating a married man with hopes he'd leave his wife for her or is it developing feelings for someone she's just meant to be having fun with.

So that's the first episode, I'll be back with more tea

Quick question, would you still remain friends with someone dating your ex?
