   Ever since a new adaptation of Interview with the Vampire was announced I knew I had to watch it, after all they are one of my favorite books. I didn't want to start it while it was airing so I wouldn't have to wait week after week for an episode, so, at the end of November, when the first season was complete, I set out to marathon it and while it wasn't quite what I expected or wanted, I have to agree that the final product isn't as bad as it could have been.

   Desde que se anunció una nueva adaptación de Entrevista con el Vampiro supe que tenía que verla, después de todo son de mis libros favoritos. No quise comenzarla mientras estaba en emisión para no tener que esperar semana tras semana por un episodio, así que, a finales de noviembre, cuando ya estuvo completa la primera temporada, me dispuse a maratonearla y si bien no fue precisamente lo que yo esperaba o quería, debo aceptar que el producto final no es tan malo como pudo ser.

   Daniel Molloy is a journalist in the twilight of his career, but to his surprise one of his most dangerous cases from the past has returned to give his life a radical twist. Once again, he finds himself face to face with Louis de Pointe du Lac, a vampire who seeks to "make amends" for his mistakes by telling him a much more mature version of the interview he gave him decades ago.

   Vampires have always been my favorite cinematic and literary "monsters", maybe it's because of that gothic atmosphere that surrounds them or simply because Dracula was the first book I read, whatever the reason is, whenever I see something that includes vampires I jump to see it almost without hesitation, yes, even Twilight. But that wasn't the only reason that motivated me to watch Interview with the Vampire series, actually my main motivation was, as I told you at the beginning, that The Vampire Chronicles is one of my favorite literary sagas.

   While my love for Anne Rice's books was what led me to watch Interview, I had to learn to forget everything I had read in order to finish the 8 chapters that make up the first season because the reality is that there are very few similarities, only the past of one character remained practically the same. Other than that they only kept some names and that's it, everything else changed.

   With this I do not mean that it is a bad series, because it is not, it just has nothing to do with the movie of the nineties and certainly not with the books, and I put it in plural because there are details that are from other books of the saga. At first I thought it would be only from "Interview with the vampire", but they ended up making a very strange hodgepodge of details.

   Los vampiros siempre han sido mis "monstruos" cinematográficos y literarios favoritos, quizás es por esa atmósfera gótica que los rodea o sencillamente porque Drácula fue el primer libro que leí, sea cual sea la razón siempre que veo que algo incluye vampiros me lanzo a verlo casi sin dudarlo, sí, incluso Crepúsculo. Pero esa no fue la única razón que me motivo a ver la serie Entrevista con el vampiro, en realidad mi principal motivación fue, como les dije al principio, que The Vampire Chronicles es una de mis sagas literarias favoritas.

   Si bien mi amor por los libros de Anne Rice fue lo que me llevó a ver Entrevista, Tuve que aprender a olvidarme de todo lo que había leído para poder terminar los 8 capítulos que conforman la primera temporada porque la realidad es que son muy pocas las similitudes, solamente el pasado de un personaje quedó prácticamente igual. Fuera de eso solo mantuvieron algunos nombres y ya, todo lo demás cambió.

   Con esto no quiero decir que es una mala serie, porque no lo es, solamente no tiene nada que ver ni con la película de los noventa y desde luego que tampoco con los libros, y lo pongo en plural porque hay detalles que son de otros libros de la saga. Al principio yo pensé que sería solamente de "Entrevista con el vampiro", pero terminaron haciendo una mezcolanza de detalles muy extraña.

   The story begins in the year 2022 and in itself is a sort of continuation of the first adaptation, all the events of the first one happened years ago, in the youth of Daniel, who is now an adult with a declining journalistic career, to his surprise he receives an invitation from Louis, the "vampire" he had interviewed a long time ago who intends to retell him all the events that marked the end of his human life and the beginning of his existence as a vampire.

   As the series progresses we see Daniel as confused as we are when he realizes that the story he was now being told was quite different from the one he had heard before and, although the structure is the same, a vampire turns a human, they become "mates", develop a toxic relationship, etc., etc., the truth is that so many details change that it seems like a completely new story.

   Although it was difficult for me to separate this "adaptation" from the original work, once I did I was able to enjoy it quite a bit. The story is fast paced and has all the elements of a good gothic vampire story, plus it has a good dose of gore, which is always appreciated. Despite separating itself a lot from the books, there was one detail that I found fascinating: the character of Lestat is simply wonderful, without a doubt it is the best adaptation of the character I have seen.

   La historia comienza en el año 2022 y en sí es una especie de continuación de la primera adaptación, todos los acontecimientos de la primera sucedieron hace años, en la juventud de Daniel, quien ahora es un adulto con una carrera periodística en declive, para su sorpresa recibe una invitación de Louis, el “vampiro” que había entrevistado hace mucho tiempo quien tiene la intención de volver a relatarle todos los hechos que marcaron el fin de su vida humana y el comienzo de su existencia como vampiro.

   A medida que avanza la serie vemos a Daniel tan confundido como nosotros al darse cuenta de que la historia que ahora le estaba siendo contada era bastante diferente a la que había escuchado con anterioridad y es que, si bien la estructura es la misma, un vampiro convierte a un humano, se hacen “compañeros”, desarrollan una relación tóxica, etc, etc., la verdad es que cambian tantos detalles que parece una historia completamente nueva.

   Aunque fue difícil para mí separar esta “adaptación” de la obra original, una vez que lo hice pude disfrutarla bastante. La historia es se desarrolla rápidamente y tiene todos los elementos de una buena historia gótica de vampiros, además de tener una buena dosis de sangre, que siempre se agradece. A pesar de separarse mucho de los libros, hubo un detalle que encontré fascinante: el personaje de Lestat es sencillamente maravilloso, sin duda alguna es la mejor adaptación del personaje que he visto.

   I had quite high esteem for Tom Cruise's interpretation of the Vampire Lestat, but honestly this series completely changed my opinion, Sam Reid is perfect for the character, in fact, he was the one who made me lower my resistance and start enjoying the series. I don't know if it was the actor or the showrunner, but it was a wise move to keep, if nothing else, a well adapted character. I really hope they renew it and that the story evolves enough to see what Vampire Lestat becomes.

   The other characters are practically new and I feel that they suffered many changes due to the inclusion or, better said, the fear of putting a slave owner as the main character, let's remember that in the original story Louis was the owner of a plantation that had slave labor. So both Louis and Claudia went from being Caucasian to being people of color, of course that also implied a change of era in the story and a different origin for Louis, although I must accept that in the end, despite the changes, the story works quite well.

   Something that was maintained and did it quite well was that passive-aggressive relationship between Louis and Lestat, I loved that here they did establish them as a couple formally, although I'm sure it bothered many, I think that's a detail that escapes quite a bit in the past adaptation and is actually very important, since that "relationship" gives rise to many things and is a great motivation for both characters, especially for Lestat, who is actually the protagonist of the entire literary saga.

   Yo tenía en bastante alta estima la interpretación que había hecho Tom Cruise del Vampiro Lestat, pero honestamente esta serie cambió por completo mi opinión, Sam Reid es perfecto para el personaje, de hecho, él fue el que hizo que bajara mi resistencia y comenzara a disfrutar de la serie. No sé si fue el actor o el showrunner, pero fue un acierto mantener, aunque sea, un personaje bien adaptado. De verdad espero que la renueven y que la historia evolucione lo suficiente como para ver en lo que se convierte el Vampiro Lestat.

   Los demás personajes son prácticamente nuevos y siento que sufrieron muchos cambios debido a la inclusión o, mejor dicho, al miedo a poner de protagonista a un personaje esclavista, recordemos que en la historia original Louis era dueño de una plantación que contaba con mano de obra esclava. Así que tanto Louis como Claudia pasaron de ser caucásicos a ser personas de color, por supuesto que eso implicó también un cambio de época en la historia y un origen diferente para Louis, aunque debo aceptar que al final, a pesar de los cambios, la historia funciona bastante bien.

   Algo que se mantuvo y lo hizo bastante bien fue esa relación pasivo-agresiva entre Louis y Lestat, me encantó que aquí sí los establecieran como pareja formalmente, aunque estoy segura de que a muchos les molestó, creo que ese es un detalle que se escapa bastante en la adaptación pasada y en realidad es muy importante, ya que esa “relación” da pie a muchas cosas y es una gran motivación para ambos personajes, sobre todo para Lestat, quien es en realidad el protagonista de toda la saga literaria.

   Perhaps it is true that in the series they romanticize much more the relationship between Louis and Lestat, since they invent a couple living together that does not exist in the novel, however, I think it is because the novel is a product of its time and not so much because the author did not want to include it, since the relationship between the two protagonists is too obvious.

   What I do feel was a mistake was Claudia, I did not understand the need to put a teenager and the typical dramas of that age, I think it was much better to justify the fact that the third in discord between Louis and Lestat was a girl than a teenager, it was a character that ended up falling quite badly to me.

   There was also another character that I didn't really understand during the whole series, I don't know how they are going to approach him because the story is too much changed, but I hope they are not going to give him the same treatment as Claudia, because he is an excellent character and with too much relevance for the future of the plot.

   Overall, I can say that I quite enjoyed the series, it does differ a lot from the book, but if the author herself gave her approval before she died, who am I to say if it is well or badly adapted? Luckily the second season is confirmed, I hope they give good continuity to the series, even if it's not as the novels are.

   Quizás sea cierto que en la serie romantizan mucho más la relación entre Louis y Lestat, puesto que les inventan una convivencia de pareja que en la novela no existe, sin embargo, pienso que es porque la novela es un producto de su época y no tanto porque la autora no haya querido incluirlo, ya que es demasiado evidente la relación entre los dos protagonistas.

   Lo que sí siento que fue un desacierto fue Claudia, no entendí la necesidad de meter a una adolescente y los dramas típicos de esa edad, creo que se justificaba mucho mejor el hecho de que la tercera en discordia entre Louis y Lestat fuera una niña que una adolescente, fue un personaje que terminó cayéndome bastante mal.

   Hubo también otro personaje que en realidad no entendí durante toda la serie, no sé cómo lo van a abordar porque la historia está demasiado cambiada, pero espero que no le vayan a dar el mismo tratamiento que a Claudia, porque es un personaje excelente y con demasiada relevancia para el futuro de la trama.

   En general, puedo decir que disfruté bastante la serie, sí difiere mucho del libro, pero si la misma autora le dio su aprobación antes de morir, ¿quién soy yo para decir si está bien o mal adaptada? Por suerte la segunda temporada está confirmada, espero que le den buena continuidad a la serie, aunque no sea tal cual como son las novelas.

Don't expect to see a faithful adaptation of Anne Rice's work, indeed, don't see it as an adaptation, it's more a series based on and inspired by her work than a series that sought to adapt as faithful as possible to her work, it's not, so if that already makes you not like it, don't watch it or try to, it has more changes than your ex has after he leaves you. I loved it, I was enraptured like you have no idea, I cried, and I can't wait for season 2.

She is an immortal teenager, they couldn't turn her into a vampire in another moment, if not in that one, which is one of the most complicated stages of the human being, and that makes Claudia the way she is, only that she will live things that will make her mature too much, which is when we will finish accepting her with all the good and bad.

Tengo muchos sentimientos encontrados con Louis en esta serie, porque la actuación es muy buena, pero aún así hubo momentos donde no parecía real, sobre todo en el presente, su actuación en las partes de la entrevista no me convencieron del todo, sí, tiene más de un siglo de vida, pero en vez de alguien inmortal parece alguien que sufre de reumatismo y no puede mostrar expresiones faciales a causa del botox, no sé, fue raro, lo hizo mejor en su actuación de los hechos ocurridos con Lestat.

   Claudia... No sé cómo sentirme respecto a Claudia, me llegó a caer mal, pero después me cayó bien, no la soporto, pero la entiendo, lo que hace que la quiera, pero no la soporto, la respeto mucho, la admiro, pero igual siento aversión hacia ella, es un personaje demasiado complejo que necesita de su propia serie, de su propio spinnoff para que la conozcamos mejor y logremos entender todo lo que sucede con ella. Es una adolescente inmortal, no pudieron convertirla en vampira en otro momento, si no en ese, que es de las etapas más complicadas del ser humano, y eso hace que Claudia sea como es, solo que vivirá cosas que la harán madurar demasiado, que es cuando terminaremos de aceptarla con todo lo bueno y malo.

   

   

   

   This series is gorier than I expected, that pleased me and surprised me a lot because I've seen a lot of things lately that take things for granted and don't show them graphically, which didn't happen here, also, the soundtrack is one of the most divine things that can exist, there is a song that Lestat composes to Louis and they play it in one of the chapters, I loved it, one of the reasons why I watch the credits is that and it's worth it, that song is worth listening to.

   I'm thankful to be finishing this to go see 1899, which is out now, and since it's from the same creators as Dark, I won't miss it, which reminds me that I want to watch Dark again to review it. The trailer is very well done, it's a little taste of how amazing the series can be, with all its changes and different things it has. You can like it, you can't like it, I loved it and I can't wait for the second season, let's thank providence that it's already confirmed.

   

   Esta serie es más sangrienta de lo que esperaba, eso me agradó y me sorprendió mucho, pues he visto muchas cosas ultimamente que dan por sentado las cosas y no las muestran gráficamente, cosa que no sucedió aquí, además, el soundtrack es una de las cosas más divinas que pueden existir, hay una canción que Lestat le compone a Louis y la ponen en uno de los capítulos, la amé, una de las razones por las que veo los créditos es esa, y vale la pena, esa canción vale la pena escucharla.

   Agradezco estar terminando esto para ir a ver 1899, que ya se estrenó, y como es de los mismos creadores de Dark, no me la perderé, lo que me recuerda que quiero volver a ver Dark para hacerle una reseña. El trailer está muy bien hecho, es una pequeña muestra de lo increíble que puede ser la serie, con todos sus cambios y cosas diferentes que tiene. Les puede gustar, no les puede gustar, yo la amé y no puedo esperar por la segunda temporada, que agradezcamos a la providencia que ya está confirmada.

   Hello #moviesandtvshows friends, October is here and finally the best season of all, the horror movie season, has begun. Although in our countries Halloween is not celebrated as such, the influence of American customs has been so great that the presence of this celebration has invaded Latin America and also our screens, it is a season in which a large number of productions belonging to the genre of horror, suspense and mystery are released, so no doubt it has become a month that I look forward to with great anticipation because I love a good dose of terror.

   At home we have a tradition that during this month most of the series or movies we watch are horror or at least suspense. Normally, we balance old movies with recent releases and since this week it was my turn to choose which movie we would watch I chose a classic of the genre, one of my favorite movies and books: "Interview with the Vampire".

   The monster sub-genre has always been my favorite within horror. Zombies, werewolves, aliens, beasts and of course vampires, whenever there is a monster present in the production, I know that movie will catch my attention and "Interview with the Vampire" is without a doubt the reason behind my passion for vampires and creatures in general. Not only did I become a fan of the movie, but I became a loyal follower of Anne Rice, the author of the book on which it is based, in fact, if you ask me which is my favorite literary character without hesitation, I would say it is Lestat, the main character of Rice's work.

   It is difficult to find a current vampire production that is not influenced by "Interview...", the vampire myth created by Rice has transcended her works and has been installed in series and films, leaving an immense legacy. That is why this production has gradually become an undisputed benchmark of vampire cinema, perhaps more and more on a par with the classic Dracula stories.

   Hola, amigos de #moviesandtvshows, octubre ha llegado y por fin ha dado inicio la mejor temporada de todas, la de las películas de terror. Aunque en nuestros países no se festeje Halloween como tal, la influencia de las costumbres norteamericanas ha sido tan grande que la presencia de esta celebración ha invadido Latinoamérica y también nuestras pantallas, es una temporada en la que se estrenan un gran número de producciones pertenecientes al género del terror, suspenso y misterio, así que sin duda se ha convertido en un mes que espero con mucha anticipación porque a mí me encanta una buena dosis de terror.

   En casa tenemos la tradición que durante este mes la mayoría de las series o películas que vemos son de terror o mínimo de suspenso. Normalmente, balanceamos películas viejas con estrenos recientes y como esta semana fue mi turno de escoger qué película veríamos escogí un clásico del género, una de mis películas y libros favoritos: “Entrevista con el vampiro”.

   El sub-género de monstruos siempre ha sido mi favorito dentro del terror. Zombies, hombres-lobo, aliens, bestias y por supuesto vampiros, siempre que haya un monstruo presente en la producción, yo sé que esa película me llamará la atención y “Entrevista con el vampiro” es, sin duda alguna, la razón de mi pasión por los vampiros y las criaturas en general. No solo me hice fan de la película, sino que me convertí en fiel seguidora de Anne Rice, la autora del libro en el que está basada, de hecho, si me preguntan cuál es mi personaje literario preferido sin titubear diría que es Lestat, el personaje principal de la obra de Rice.

   Es difícil encontrar una producción actual de vampiros que no se encuentre influenciada por “Entrevista…”, el mito vampírico creado por Rice ha trascendido sus obras y se ha instalado en series y películas, dejando un legado inmenso. Es por ello que esta producción poco a poco se ha ido convirtiendo en un referente indiscutible del cine de vampiros, quizás cada vez más a la par de las clásicas historias de Drácula.

   The film is set mostly in the city of New Orleans during the eighteenth century, although part of the story also takes place in Paris, which makes the gothic atmosphere that reigns during almost the entire film completely captivating, the opulence of the plantations of southern Mississippi and the "aristocracy" of the time are perfectly captured, both in the scenery and costumes, every time I see this movie I am amazed how beautiful it is visually, is a perfect gothic fantasy brought to the cinema. They managed to elevate Rice's words to a dreamlike reality and although there are details that are slightly different, the fact that the same author of the book wrote the script was the necessary touch to make this film one of the best adaptations I've had the pleasure of watching.

   That gothic atmosphere is not only present in the visual aspect of the film, but we can also find it ingrained in the story, a deep sense of melancholy, a veiled romanticism and the supernatural of vampires come together to make "Interview..." a worthy representative of the gothic horror genre. Something I love about the plot of this film is the ambiguity with which the vampires are represented, some are the classic cruel and bloodthirsty monsters, while others live lamenting their existence where murder and death reign.

   The story is full of details that make us reflect on immortality and what we would be willing to sacrifice to "enjoy" it, after all, who has not ever dreamed of being immortal, but what we should really ask ourselves is: could we bear the condemnation of living only at night or see everything we know and love withering away until it ceases to exist? There is also the need to sacrifice human lives to guarantee our existence, all these questions make us see the reality of the characters from a more "humanized" point of view, despite the fact that they are supernatural beings.

   La película está ambientada mayormente en la ciudad de Nueva Orleans durante el siglo XVIII, aunque parte de la historia también trascurre en París, lo que hace que el ambiente gótico que reina durante casi toda la película sea completamente cautivador, la opulencia de las plantaciones del sur del Misisipi y de la “aristocracia” de la época están perfectamente plasmadas, tanto en la escenografía como en los vestuarios, cada vez que veo esta película me asombra lo bella que es visualmente, es una perfecta fantasía gótica llevada al cine. Lograron elevar las palabras de Rice a una realidad de ensueño y aunque hay detalles que son ligeramente diferentes, el que la misma autora del libro haya escrito el guion fue el toque necesario para hacer de esta película una de las mejores adaptaciones que he tenido el placer de ver.

   Pero esa atmósfera gótica no solamente está presente en el aspecto visual de la película, sino que también podemos encontrarla en arraigada en la historia, una profunda sensación de melancolía, un romanticismo velado y lo sobrenatural de los vampiros se unen para hacer de “Entrevista…” una digna representante del género del terror gótico. Algo que me encanta de la trama de esta película es la ambigüedad con la que son representados los vampiros, unos son los clásicos monstruos crueles y sedientos de sangre, mientras que otros viven lamentando su existencia donde reinan los asesinatos y la muerte.

   La historia está llena de detalles que nos hacen reflexionar sobre la inmortalidad y sobre qué estaríamos dispuestos a sacrificar para “disfrutar” de esta, a fin de cuentas ¿quién no ha soñado alguna vez con ser inmortal?, pero lo que deberíamos preguntarnos realmente es ¿podríamos soportar la condena de vivir solamente de noche o de ver como todo lo que conocemos y amamos va marchitándose hasta dejar de existir?, también está la necesidad de sacrificar vidas humanas para garantizar nuestra existencia, todas estas cuestiones hacen que veamos la realidad de los personajes desde un punto de vista un poco más “humanizado”, a pesar de tratarse de seres sobrenaturales.

   If there was something Rice did well was to provide his characters with details and nuances, and this film is no exception, which is why one of the things I most enjoy about "Interview..." is just that, its characters. On the one hand, we have Lestat, the eternal spoiled prince, a selfish vampire full of vanity, who apparently lives only for himself, his desires and his pleasures, while on the other hand we have Louis, the melancholic Louis, who represents guilt and regret, a vampire who practically "lives" regretting his existence, but who also does nothing to put an end to his misery.

   The interaction of these two characters for me is the best part of the film and although one of them is not present for a good part of the story, his simple memory makes the events continue to revolve around his name. That stormy couple relationship is certainly very entertaining to watch and although in the film they wanted to disguise the reality of the two vampires, the hints made it clear that the relationship of Lestat and Louis was not only creator-progeny, but something much more beyond and no, it is not about forced inclusion, a topic that is very fashionable lately, but to remove all the traditionalism to romanticism, after all it is about vampires, they transcend human traditions.

   Perhaps one of the things I liked most about this adaptation was precisely that, that they hardly changed the structure of these two characters, although the origin of Louis is a little different, in general, the adaptation is very well done, as the character maintains his original essence of being a hardened melancholic, for his part Lestat seems to me simply perfect, since he is portrayed as an obnoxiously charming being, just as it should be.

   Cruise and Pitt's performances were truly unmatched for these characters, Pitt does an excellent job as the tormented Louis, he immerses us in his thoughts and in his eternal struggle against his vampiric nature, but the one who gets all my admiration is Cruise, I generally don't like this actor at all, neither his movies, nor his characters, nor him, nothing, except Lestat, in fact, nowadays I can't imagine any other actor portraying the Vampire Lestat, that disdain for others, the air of superiority that always surrounds the character and the feeling that the world revolves around him are reflected so organically by Cruise that it even seems that he is not acting but being himself (although maybe that's just why he does so well as Lestat).

   Si algo hacía bien Rice era dotar a sus personajes de detalles y matices, y esta película no es la excepción, es por ello que una de las cosas que más disfruto de “Entrevista…” es justamente eso, sus personajes. Por un lado, tenemos a Lestat, el eterno príncipe malcriado, un vampiro egoísta y lleno de vanidad, que aparentemente vive solamente para él, sus deseos y sus placeres, mientras que por otro tenemos Louis, el melancólico Louis, que representa la culpa y el arrepentimiento, un vampiro que prácticamente “vive” lamentando su existencia, pero que tampoco hace nada por acabar con su miseria.

   La interacción de estos dos personajes para mí es lo mejor de la película y aunque uno de ellos no está presente durante una buena parte de la historia, su simple recuerdo hace que los acontecimientos continúen girando alrededor de su nombre. Esa relación tormentosa de pareja sin duda es muy entretenida de ver y aunque en la película quisieron disfrazar un poco la realidad de los dos vampiros, sin duda, las indirectas dejaron en claro que la relación de Lestat y Louis no era solamente de creador-progenie, sino algo mucho más allá y no, no se trata de inclusión forzada, tema que está muy de moda últimamente, sino de quitarle todo el tradicionalismo al romanticismo, a final de cuentas se trata de vampiros, ellos trascienden las tradiciones humanas.

   Quizás una de las cosas que más me gustó de esta adaptación fue precisamente eso, que casi no cambiaron la estructura de estos dos personajes, si bien el origen de Louis es un poco diferente, en general, la adaptación está muy bien realizada, ya que el personaje mantiene su esencia original de ser un melancólico empedernido, por su parte Lestat me parece sencillamente perfecto, puesto que se encuentra retratado como un ser detestablemente encantador, justo como debería ser.

   Las actuaciones de Cruise y Pitt fueron verdaderamente inigualables para estos personajes, Pitt hace un excelente trabajo como el atormentado Louis, nos sumerge en sus pensamientos y en su eterna lucha contra su naturaleza vampírica, pero quien se lleva toda mi admiración es Cruise, a mí en general no me gusta para nada este actor, ni sus películas, ni sus personajes, ni él, nada, excepto Lestat, de hecho, hoy por hoy no puedo imaginarme a ningún otro actor retratando al Vampiro Lestat, ese desdén por los demás, el aire de superioridad que siempre rodea al personaje y la sensación de que el mundo gira alrededor de él son reflejadas de forma tan orgánica por Cruise que hasta parece que no está actuando sino siendo él mismo (aunque quizás sea justo por eso que lo hace tan bien como Lestat).

   On the other hand, we have Armand (Antonio Banderas) and Claudia (Kirsten Dunst), slightly secondary characters, but who leave a great impression on the viewer. Claudia, the child-vampire created by Rice as a tribute to her own daughter who died at a young age, her story is so tragic that it manages to shake anyone. Doomed to remain a child forever, she lives with the resentment of never having the body of an adult, which makes her act completely ruthless and selfless towards everyone but Louis.

   She is one of the characters that had one of the strongest changes from the books to the movies, as she went from being five years old in the books, to being approximately ten in this production, I think that reduced the impact of the child-vampire a bit, but Dunst's performance definitely made up for this difference, from the innocence of her early years, to the outbursts of supernatural rage of her last moments Dunst seems to me to have done an excellent job as Claudia, which in fact earned her a Golden Globe nomination with only 12 years old.

   One of the most unfortunate changes of this movie with respect to the books was definitely the character of Armand, although his story and plot line didn't change too much, his cast did, Banderas seems to me an excellent actor, however, he had nothing to do as that character. The Armand of the books was barely 17 years old and Banderas by that time was around 34, literally twice as old, completely distancing himself from the original character, and perhaps this would not affect so much if there was not a very important detail in the story that was justified precisely with his age.

   Another difference with the original work is the ending, although the one presented in this movie is excellent and works perfectly with the plot and with the characters developed in it, I would have liked to see an ending much more attached to the book, but those are my personal issues, because actually the ending is quite good. Despite all these small changes, it seems to me that overall, it is an excellent adaptation, as it maintains the essence of the original work, and even if you have not read the book, that is not an impediment to enjoy this magnificent film, which is also perfect for the #spookymonth.

   Por otro lado, tenemos a Armand (Antonio Banderas) y a Claudia (Kirsten Dunst), personajes ligeramente secundarios, pero que dejan una gran huella en el espectador. Claudia, la niña-vampiro creada por Rice como homenaje a su propia hija que falleció cuando era niña, su historia es tan trágica que logra estremecer a cualquiera. Condenada a permanecer como una niña eternamente, vive con el resentimiento de no llegar a tener el cuerpo de una adulta, lo cual la hace actuar de forma completamente despiadada y desinteresada con todos, menos con Louis.

   Ella es uno de los personajes que tuvo uno de los cambios más fuerte de los libros a las películas, ya que pasó de tener cinco años en los libros, a tener aproximadamente diez en esta producción, creo que eso redujo un poco el impacto de la niña-vampiro, pero la actuación de Dunst definitivamente compensó esta diferencia, desde la inocencia de sus primeros años, hasta los arrebatos de ira sobrenatural de sus últimos momentos Dunst me parece que hizo un trabajo excelente como Claudia, el cual de hecho le valió una nominación a los Globos de Oro a sus 12 años.

   Uno de los cambios más desafortunados de esta película con respecto a los libros definitivamente fue el personaje de Armand, si bien su historia y su línea argumental no cambió demasiado, sí que lo hizo su cast, Banderas me parece un actor excelente, sin embargo, no tenía nada que hacer como ese personaje. El Armand de los libros tenía escasos 17 años y Banderas para ese entonces estaba por los 34, literalmente el doble, alejándose por completo del personaje original, y quizás esto no afectaría tanto si no hubiera un detalle muy importante en la historia que se justificara precisamente con su edad.

   Otra diferencia con la obra original es el final, si bien el presentado en esta película es excelente y funciona perfectamente con la trama y con los personajes desarrollados en la misma, me hubiera gustado ver un final mucho más apegado al del libro, pero esas son cuestiones mías, porque en realidad el final es bastante bueno. A pesar de todos estos pequeños cambios, me parece que en general es una excelente adaptación, ya que mantiene la esencia de la obra original, y aun si no han leído el libro, eso no es impedimento para disfrutar de esta magnífica película, la cual además es perfecta para el #spookymonth.
