  1. My Favourite Director Movie Contest ~ King Of Boys(Movie Review)@bliss112414d

Hello friends, hope our day is going well. This is an entry for the 3rd week of my favorite director movie contest, sponsored by @wiseagent and Triple A project. To participate in the contest check the link here... https://steemit.com/contest/@wiseagent/for-your-consideration-01-favorite-directors-or-a-movie-contest-sponsored-by-me-and-the-triplea-project.

So for this stage I would be reviewing the work of a Nollywood director Kemi Adetiba in her movie titled King Of Boys. Kemi Adetiba through this movie showed a thorough level of skills and privilege that could only be accorded to a few Nollywood directors. Despite creating a high expectations of the movie, she was able to successfully carry out this project. To the movie.....

King Of Boys is Nollywood drama/thriller movie, with a run time of 2hrs 49mins. Directed by Kemi Adetiba, it starred amazing actors like Sola Sobowale, Remilekun Reminisce, Adesua Etomi Wellington, Paul Sambo, Ill Bliss, Jide Kosoko, Osas Ighodaro amongst others.

Synopsis When Eniola Salam, king of the underworld feels cheated out of her place, she fights back to regain her respect and her throne at any cost.

The story follows a woman boss Eniola Salam, who had to go through thick and thin to attain the position of the "throne", that is becoming the king of the underworld as she is being referred to as the "Oba". With her gang of associate, she rules over the streets, make decisions and give permission for anything to happen. While in the face of the public she is just a wealthy business woman and a mother of two grown up kids. She uses her wealth to sponsor different politicians during times of election, with the hope of crossing over to politics.

But her hope was however dashed into thin air, when her good deeds to these politicians did not pay off. As they refused to fulfill their own part of the deal by nominating her in their party, reason being that they felt she was a gangster and the king of the underworld, so she is not fit to represent their party. Feeling so cheated and demanding for their deal to be fulfilled, hell was brought loose. The battle began with different conspiracies being revealed as they expose themselves.

While the political battle continues, chaos began to rise in the underworld. One of her underling called Makanaki ,who has had enough in enduring their boss nonchalant attitude towards the operations in the underworld felt it was time for a change. For him, she was only reaping what they worked for, so he wanted to overthrow her in order to become the new "Oba", king of the underworld. This however followed with confrontation, both physically and spiritually, leading to loss of lives.

Facing confrontations and fights from all angles did fate finally smile at her?

Sola Sobowale as Eniola Salam played a very complex and interesting role in this movie. Her performance was exceptional with how she was able to portray so well the role of the king of the underworld. Not her typical kind of movie but she nailed it, going from a ruthless boss lady, to a strict and sometimes sweet mother/business woman. Another thing I love about her is her strong presence on screen, her acting keeps you at the edge of your seat. Remilekun Reminisce as Makanaki, also performed well considering that he is not much of an actor but an artiste.

Credit to Adesua Etomi Wellington whose on screen presence may have been overemphasized probably because she a top actor but then again she was able to go with the flow, plus one can easily relate to her show of emotions. All cast deserves an applause as they were able to carry on this movie safely to the end considering it's duration.

King Of Boys is an entertaining movie that keeps you curious with questions of what next?. With a mixture of both old and new Nollywood faces to give it a refreshing touch. The movie portrayed the real world, of how gang lords or king of a supposed underworld uses their wealth to buy into positions of authority. The issue of the struggle of power, either trying to remain in power or trying to attain power has become the order of the day. Which leads to unwarranted bloodshed of the innocent, but still at the end they always find their ways to be at the top of ladder..... The world we live in.

Kemi Adetiba through this movie as a director displayed how ambitious and daring she could be to take on a project like this going all in to make it work, just few Nollywood directors would take the risk. For me the movie was an amazing one, although there places where in they could have performed better. A movie to watch with family and friends, a bit of violence though. Looking to see a movie, you can add it up on your watch list.

Thank you for reading friends, do have a lovely day.

    Bliss
