The Christmas season is distinguished by having a special touch dedicated to children, this is used to instill in them different values such as kindness, gratitude, sharing using an element that has become worldwide which is Santa Claus but what fun is this if it does not generate traumas in the little ones at home, so I prefer the definition of Krampus which is the dark counterpart of Santa Claus.

Recently I was present in one of the evil sessions in the ZDE discord where their witches talk about terror, Ivana was educating us about dark arts, for some reason it reminded me a lot to the classes in Harry Potter, she named this being that when I heard it I thought of a demon because if Santa is a saint then the Krampus is its opposite, the concept of demon I think is what fits with this being.

I had ephemerally heard of the Krampus last year, hearing his name again awakened my curiosity about this character who happens to have centuries of life, thanks to the rise of movies plus the internet he has become more known because as such he belongs to the folklore of Europe, not to mine that I am from America, however, our globalized world has made that for example Santa Claus becomes worldwide and everything that is born of this reaches us.

I have always been struck by the concept of punishing children who misbehave by not giving them gifts because of course I was a child who wanted gifts, they were also punished by leaving them coal as I have seen in some films but I think it takes evil, darkness, fear and terror, all of the above I perceive in this character.

Maybe this is why he is being so well received in the popular culture of the world, little by little he is taking his place in the Christmas celebration, not everything can be good wishes at Christmas, I notice it because since childhood this concept of punishing children who misbehave, so adults somehow traumatize children to behave well and do what parents say, you can see that regardless of the culture this is always present in people.

It has two well marked elements where the first of them are the horns, this I think is a symbol that associates it directly with Lucifer, that's why I highlight it as I see it right as a demon, it gives a goat touch but these details make it a wild animal which I do not like at all, with the horns is fine to give it an evil ornament but the pile of fur is not.

The second element is one that is out of all logic, is the sack, when I heard this part, if that stayed in my mind because it is when stories begin to be born of how to use this element to take the children to hell.

This is his greatest power and what differentiates him from the animals, it gives him that evil aura in what I think when I put myself in the shoes of a child is what I would be most afraid of, how not to fear him if he would not only take me to hell itself, as the cherry on the cake that is where he would eat me.

Putting myself in the mind of a child, the horns would impress me but the sack is what I would be most afraid of, it reminds me a lot of the Ropavejero that was named in El Chavo, this would be a concept of the country Mexico foreign to my nationality of Venezuela but the Krampus that is European uses it, I think that is where there is a connection of cultures because much of what America has as we know comes from European roots.

Closing my opinion of the character that recently I was able to study more closely, the aspect of power that he possesses is to see him as a corrupt version of the Saint Nicholas that we know, it is like seeing the Christmas spirit that is honored with fruits to deform him by honoring him with rotten fruits, it is the opposite of what we know, that is what impacted me the most about the Krampus.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

    Bienvenidos a mi blog 2 idiomas nuevo.png

With the arrival of Christmas, we usually watch cute movies that leave us lessons and/or inspire us, they are full of magical moments and leave us with our chest full of hope, I don't know if there is a precedent besides "The Strange World of Jack", but while searching for content to watch on Netflix I came across a Christmas movie, but horror, it is titled "Krampus: The Christmas Devil" and is inspired by part of Alpine Folklore, for those who want to know more about this character I share with you this link where you can get more information, but I have come to share a bit of the Christmas horror movie inspired by this particular character.

    image.png

    Source/Fuente

This movie begins with the fight of a boy like another in a mall, while his sister records him with her cell phone, after arriving home, his parents try to talk to him, this boy named Max is very close to his grandmother (Omi) of Austrian origin, who insists him to believe in Santa and Christmas, but all this apparent family peace, becomes even more complicated with the arrival of his uncles, cousins, a great aunt and uncle, Max wants to continue to believe and deliver his letter, but Max explodes after a terrible episode when his cousins steal his letter and read it in front of the whole family ridiculing him, this makes Max tear his letter full of anger and sadness and throws it out of the window of his room.

    image.png

    Source/Fuente

Now, that's where the terror and suspense begins in this film, because when the letter is thrown a mysterious wind rises and invokes an ancient spirit, there begin to occur a series of events in the population, the electric service falls, there is no cell phone signal, no local phones, plus a snowfall and mysteriously in front of the house mysteriously appears a snowman that no one knows where he came from.

As expected some strange events begin to occur starting with the disappearance of Max's older sister, who had gone out to explore the area with the purpose of seeing what had happened with her boyfriend and explore the area, so his father and uncle, go out to look for her and realize that something strange is happening, So they decide to sleep all in the living room for warmth and protection, but the cunning character sends one of his assistants down the chimney and takes one of Max's cousins, Howie, there Max's grandmother breaks the silence and tells who is taking the family, how and when she saw him for the first tim

On the other hand and not to continue narrating the whole story, I will share my opinion about the horror characters, Krampus is huge and has all the appearance of a goat which reminded me of the way we illustrate the demons, on the other hand his helpers are partly enchanted and terrifying toys, such as a clown or//arlequin that comes out of a box and swallows his cousins, also the cookies shaped like little men that seem to be harmless and are really evil characters, not to mention that the house is increasingly surrounded by scary snowmen, but on the other hand there are some scenes in the film that cause some fun like seeing the little cookie men attacking Max's uncle, or Max's mother and aunt attacking the evil toys in a frantic way, defending their own.

Another thing that I liked and impressed me about the movie, was the soundtrack, since they used many Christmas carols and songs to which they made arrangements or so it seemed to me to give it that sinister touch that I loved since it achieves that Christmas sound, but evil and creepy in an original way.

In conclusion, I can tell you that if you are a lover of horror and suspense this different Christmas movie is for you, because it allows us, believe it or not, to think a little that the spirit of Christmas symbolizes family unity and generosity and that no matter how difficult it is to get along with some relatives we must love them, have tolerance and respect, so this 2015 movie is an option for you, if you already saw it, I would like to read your impressions and if you have not done so, I encourage you to leave me a comment, I say goodbye until a future publication.

  4. Krampus review.@noemilunastorta1851d

I watch this movie because I am interested in mythological creatures, the krampus especially interested me because in Italy there are many legends around it. The krampus is a horned almost men, typical of the alps Christmas legends, he is a kind of Saint klaus helper but is not a good one but a scary one, who punish the bad kids and scare them, In the movie too, a movie with a really great cast this Christmas monster became literally a nightmare, it all star with a family, an unhappy family and with a child who hate is family.

The child wish so hard that his family disappear, because they only make trouble unfortunately someone hear his wish but it's not Santa Klaus! It's the scary Krampus and one by one the family members start to disappear in a snowy storm and I weird, bloody circumstances. But this disappearance makes the family more closer, they start to understand the truly value of every single member but unfortunately the krampus did not care, he just want destroy and kill.

  6. Movies to Watch Around Christmas: Krampus@namiks3108d

    Krampus.jpg

If, like me, your Christmas spirit has been particularly scarce this year, Krampus is a film very much worth watching.

Derived from European history, Krampus is a half-goat, half-demon that works as the opposite of Saint Nicholas. In the film, Krampus is one of many that comes in to punish those who do not have any Christmas spirit, or have been misbehaving just a little too much.

Following a child's loss of Christmas spirit, his town his engulfed in a thick blizzard that poses a threat to all that go out in it; most are stuck inside as a result, which doesn't sound too bad, up until Krampus' minions arrive to join them.

These minions are various Christmas themed creatures lurking within previously delivered presents: evil gingerbread men, not-so-cuddly evil teddy bears, and downright terrifying clowns. In a nice touch, many of his minions appear to be practical effects, rather than digital effects. These minions are going from house to house, punishing the entire street for their lack of festivity.

This film is well-written, simple, and extremely enjoyable. It's silly, thrilling, fun, and knows when it shouldn't overextend into its themes. There's a nice amount of balance between storytelling, character development, and its eerie snow-filled action. Never does something feel like it went a little too far or got a little too carried away.

Krampus is the Christmas film that isn't for festive people. It's a Christmas horror for those who aren't looking for an all up-beat, feel-good feeling film. Its narrative is dark, filled with mythology, but also has a nice touch towards the end. Krampus isn't evil, despite being one that punishes. Krampus accepts the child's apology for his lack of Christmas spirit, and gives him another chance to enjoy the holiday. Sending him back to Christmas morning, the child unwraps a snow globe that shows Krampus is watching.
