Not much emphasis were laid on this, A teaser just dropped out of the blue and then the audience got surprised by the plot being solely about Seg-El, Kal-El's grandfather. I guess they noticed if they made it about Joe-El, it could turn off a whole lot of people. This on the other hand started off at the middle (the thing line between love and hate).
