En realidad no sé cómo comenzar esta reseña, ya que cuando vi esta película no sabía de su argumento pensé que era otra película de amor e incomprensión, pero llego un punto que me toco, me sentí identificada, la película para mi dio un giro, cuando en el consultorio vi a Maggie (Anne Hathaway) una chica padeciendo Parkinson en Estadio uno, una enfermedad que poco a poco te va limitando a hacer tus cosas sola y que tienes que depender de alguien hasta para comer y la pregunta es ¿Quien estaría dispuesto a estar a su lado?
Pienso que en la vida las enfermedades son una lotería, a mí me tocó el ticket ganador del Parkinson gracias a DIOS pudo ser peor, no es bueno, para nada, sumado a la secuela del Covid, no puedo caminar mucho, solo ando por la casa, eso sí es frustrante porque estaba acostumbrada a salir, era muy activa y la vida me cambio de la noche a la mañana. Y que te puedo decir de los medicamentos que en muchos casos como el mío, me descompensan, me mandan a la cama. Mi temor, todo lo que viene, bueno pero he decidido que viviré un día a la vez. Disculpen que los abrumes con mi historia pero a veces es bueno desahogarse y que mejor que escribiéndolo. Le pido a DIOS mucha salud para mis familiares que tendrán la difícil tarea de cuidarme, ya que no tuve hijos, ni pareja en quien pueda apoyarme.
Prosiguiendo con la reseña en esta película hubo una parte que me dio miedo, pero que también me gusto, donde ella acude a un conversión de pacientes impacientes con Parkinson, fue duro ver todas esas personas temblando pero dando testimonio de sus luchas y triunfo al saber llevar la enfermedad con alegría, Maggie Murdock (Anne Hathaway) se sintió bien hasta sonrió salió motivaba, se emocionó al conocer a la mujer que corre maratones, pero el Jamie Randall ( Jake Gyllenhaal) salió desmotivado, pensando si huir como le recomendó el esposo de una mujer con Parkinson en Estadio cuatro.
En si la película es emotiva, pero diría que me canso, en el sentido de que la historia no tuvo suficiente argumento, sin embargo el deseo sexual de los dos protagonistas se me hacía monótono, un chico al que le gustaba el sexo, conoció una chica también adicta al sexo y se engancharon o se enamoraron, la película es 70% sexo, jamás hubiera pensado que Anne Hathaway iba a mostrar sus senos con una película tan seca, aspiraría un mejor papel para esta actriz tan talentosa donde su personaje este más desarrollado en cuanto al guion de la trama. Sé que es un hecho de la vida real pero debieron darle historia lo único bueno son los actores que tuvieron bastante química. I really don't know how to start this review, because when I saw this movie I didn't know about its plot I thought it was another movie about love and misunderstanding, but there came a point that touched me, I felt identified, the movie for me took a turn, when in the office I saw Maggie (Anne Hathaway) a girl suffering from Parkinson in Stage one, a disease that little by little limits you to do your things alone and you have to depend on someone even to eat and the question is **Who would be willing to be by her side? **
I think that in life diseases are a lottery, I got the winning ticket of Parkinson's, thank GOD it could have been worse, it is not good, not at all, added to the sequel of Covid, I can not walk much, I just walk around the house, that is frustrating because I was used to go out, I was very active and life changed me overnight. And what can I say about the medications that in many cases like mine, they decompensate me, they send me to bed. I will admit that I am a sucker for a decent romantic comedy every now and then and when Love and Other Drugs popped up on my Netflix radar I knew exactly what I was getting myself into as there was no denying it from the trailer. However, despite the extremely predictable plot line that is defined very early on in the film, I watched this entire movie without ever looking at my phone, and this is always a good gauge of a movie that is worth watching in my world.
This is not a new film. It was made back in 2010 but lately Netflix has been going on a Jake Gyllenhaal kick in order to (I'm guessing) promote his new Netflix exclusive film called The Guilty that I didn't particularly care for.
In some of the trailers the movie is shown as being a story about a guy who was in medical school but it didn't work out for him for various reasons and he has become a bit of a shame upon the family because of this especially since his nerdy brother is super-rich from online ventures. Jamie Randall (Jake) also gets fired from his job at an electronics store because he is a womanizer and gets caught hooking up with his boss' wife while on the job.
That scene in the electronics store will be a lot of fun for anyone over the age of 35 or so because the film is meant to take place in the 90's so it's a bit of a time warp back into what the world considered "cutting edge" electronics at the time.
After losing his job because of his missteps with the boss' wife he doesn't really know what to do next and it is his recently extremely wealthy brother who recommends him for a job in pharmaceutical sales... a job that his skills as a manipulator of women actually comes in really handy for.
The movie takes a not-so-surprising twist when he is one day introduced to a patient who just happens to be quirky, pretty, funny, and immune to his charms and yeah, this isn't exactly ground-breaking material since it is the premise of just about every Matthew Mcconaughey film prior to 2009.
The film tries to be tragic but for the most part every single person watching this is very aware of how it is going to turn out and even though I hate the predictable nature of Hollywood films, for some reason, Rom-Coms get a pass for this crime in my book.
The whole "player guy who is turned straight by the right person" plot has been done hundreds of times before but there is something about it that simply works - well, for me and tons of other people because this movie turned a pretty hefty profit at the box office even though aside from one or two things, you can see every turn in the movie coming from miles away.
I think that this was done best in the film Crazy, Stupid, Love and even though this is not the film I am talking about right now, if you are going to see just one Rom-Com that you haven't already seen this weekend, I would say that is the one to go for. In the meantime though, you can do a lot worse than Love and Other Drugs as far as some couch entertainment is concerned.
Should I watch it?
Ok, that trailer is pretty cringe-worthy and to be fair to basically all romantic comedies they are as well and probably contribute to depression all around the world when these sorts of situations never happen to normal people. We are probably more likely to be the nerdy brother or one of the other people in the film. Still, despite the fact that I almost feel a bit dirty saying that I enjoyed this movie, I really did. I even got misty-eyed during a couple of parts in it and thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing. What can I say? I'm a sucker for emotional sentiment every now and then. I believe that most people will enjoy this and therefore I give this one a thumbs up.

Sí, es cierto que la fórmula del sexo por encima del amor ha sido empleada muchas veces, así que desde ese ángulo, esta película no aporta nada nuevo. La chica enferma y el chico que la quiere cuidar, tampoco es una dupla original. Lo que sí es un poco novedoso es la mezcla de todo: una joven con Parkinson, la industria farmacéutica, el amor, el sexo, todos los elementos que se conjugan para una historia de 6,5/10 puntos que se disfruta con buen ánimo, recomendada especialmente para los seguidores de estos actores o para quienes gustan de las películas románticas.
