  1. Maxton Hall Season 2: Growing Up Hurts, Loving Hurts Too | Series Review [En-Es]@neruel205d

When you can only save yourself.

Cuando solo puedes salvarte tú mismo.

    1.png

Maxton Hall is one of the biggest phenomena on Prime Video. I would even dare to say that the series has led to new user subscriptions since its release. The second season premiered recently, and I decided I would pay to watch it calmly. After all, the story is an adaptation of Mona Kasten’s book.

The beginning of this new season unfolds with a fire that refuses to burn out—fervor, intensity, and pain. Three emotions simmering inside the two protagonists. I can describe this young-adult series as a luxurious dish that has completely shattered, yet no one wants to throw it away. They want to keep it for its wonderful identity.

Damian Hardung delivers a flawless portrayal of James Beaufort. The season begins with the news of James’s mother’s death, which turns him once again into the same insecure teenager he was in the first season, before he fell in love with Ruby Bell. The news of his mother’s death acts as a trigger that pushes him away from everything he loves and binds him once again to his deepest insecurities.

The second season plays with the emotions of all the characters and forces them to make decisions. The reason is simple: they are becoming adults. Reality can’t be avoided. Among James’s sister, Ruby’s friends, and the two protagonists, an emotion begins to rise—an urge to break free from their chains. These chains aren’t tradition, but rather the expectations of the environment in which they were raised. This gives the story a captivating depth, and I believe it reflects the book’s plot very well.

The visuals move from sweetness to the fantastic. The fantastic then shifts into romance, and that romance becomes a unique dramatic image. After all, Maxton Hall is a school for wealthy children and influential families. Ruby is simply a young, intelligent woman trying to find her place among the children of England’s most prestigious families.

    3.png

The series also plays with eroticism, but it never crosses into vulgarity. That is what makes the story so appealing. I enjoyed the energy it creates—a symbolic touch within the scenes that makes everything more intriguing. Ruby Bell is beautiful, though even more stunning is the actress Sonja Weißer, who plays Lydia Beaufort—yes, the sister of the infamous James.

Lydia Beaufort must also grow up and face her reality. She has to understand what matters more: her mother’s love or her ambition to run the family business. This is a central element in the story. James is a complete mess, but so is his sister. What’s interesting is that she is stronger, and she faces everything without running away.

I appreciated how Harriet Herbig-Matten, as Ruby Bell, confronted James and set boundaries after he stepped on her feelings and failed to respect her. No one can save you; just because you love someone doesn’t mean that person must carry your pain, take responsibility for your mistakes, or bear the weight of your inability to be brave. I’m referring to James’s lack of courage to break free from the life imposed on him by his father.

The second season of Maxton Hall is splendid—a perfect series filled with meaningful messages, where each character must mature. Even friendships are put to the test, and the value of life shifts from being overlooked to becoming something precious. I hope you get the chance to watch the series and connect with each of its messages.

  2. 🎬My opinion about Maxton Hall || Mi opinión sobre Maxton Hall❤️✨@eldiariodelys526d

    Hello, hello🩷✨

I recently saw this series that had everyone on social media talking about it, especially those who love enemies to lovers stories, teen romances with heart-racing drama and secrets. Maxton Hall is inspired by the novel Save Me by Mona Kasten, hence, this Amazon adaptation also got the reading community hooked. However, my review will focus only on the series, since I haven't read the book because it's not my literary style, but the plot I do enjoy watching it on TV🤭

But, does the story work for a series? Does it manage to hook with its characters and elite school atmosphere? Here I give you my honest opinion on what Maxton Hall has to offer✨

    $1

The story introduces us to Ruby Bell, a bright and disciplined student, whose main goal is to complete her studies without any distractions in order to fulfill her biggest dream: to enter Oxford University. Most of her classmates come from rich and powerful families, therefore, she tries to keep a low profile, so as not to have any problems affecting her scholarship. However, due to life circumstances (and the script), she witnesses a serious secret involving a professor and a student, a young woman who belongs to the most influential family in the institute.

This is how her path crosses with James Beaufort, the typical rich, arrogant and privileged guy who will do everything he can to keep her quiet. What begins as a clash of worlds, a confrontation full of tensions and differences, becomes a story where pride, desire, and appearances collide, turning into unexpected feelings. Ruby struggles not to be distracted from her goal, to stay true to her principles, while James is caught in a struggle between his family's expectations and what he really wants. A great youth drama where class differences and appearances play a crucial role.

    Characters & Romance

If there is one thing this series does not hide, it is that its story is based on well-known clichés: the studious and humble girl, who works hard to fulfill her dream, falls in love with the arrogant, popular and rich boy, who seems to have it all. Ruby Bell is an intelligent and persevering student, with her feet firmly on the ground, and a future that depends only on her effort; James Beaufort is the typical heir of a powerful family, captain of the lacrosse team, accustomed to the world turning in his favor. Their lives are totally different, but when they cross paths, the typical clash of personalities begins, where both end up changing and falling in love.

Throughout the series, their relationship follows the predictable, but effective, dynamic of opposites attract. James challenges Ruby to break out of her bubble of perfection and morality, pushes her out of her comfort zone to find herself, to enjoy her life. In turn, Ruby becomes an anchor for James, teaching him that life is not just about money, power, and class, that it is also important to have dreams and goals of your own, and that you can enjoy striving to achieve them. The development of this romance is not groundbreaking, it doesn't offer anything new to comment on, but you enjoy watching the chemistry and tension between the main characters.

    Personajes y romance

    Narration & Scenography

From the very first episode, Maxton Hall manages to grab you with the tension between Ruby and James, with that classic “enemies to lovers” game. The first few episodes are well structured, with intense moments and a pace that keeps you glued to the screen. However, as the plot progresses, it seems to me that there are some ups and downs, since there are crucial scenes that contribute to the development of the characters and strengthen their relationship, but there are also other moments that felt unnecessary or even boring. Even so, the finale manages to close the season with intrigue and expectations for the next season.

As for the set design, I loved it for those British vibes, the visual charm you expect from a story set in England. The old architecture, the classrooms of elite institutes, the trip to London and the visit to Oxford give it that monarchical and elegant air that reinforces the atmosphere of exclusivity. However, there is one detail that made me personally uncomfortable. Although the series is set in the UK, the production and actors are from Germany, hence the original language is in German. Texting, writing, and anything else is in German, despite the fact that they are supposed to live in England, which I found quite jarring. I felt it was disconnected, that there was no authentic representation of the story. If at least the language of the place had been respected, it would make you feel that everything is more genuine, and would not lose the magic of the place.

    Best and Worst (Personal Opinion)

Even though they exploit an overused cliché, I feel they did it right, we can never get tired of a good cliché as long as it is structured and entertaining. If you have a desire to see a short romantic story, this could be a good choice. Also, I like how they portrayed the social class issue, you sense the tension and disdain for Ruby, the pressure James and his sister feel to meet social and family standards. This part shows you that even if you have a bank account with a lot of money, it doesn't assure you happiness, not even comfort. It may give you good opportunities to achieve those goals, but what good is it if you don't know what to do with your life?

Otherwise, I liked how the series started and ended. I loved Ruby and James in all their facets: enemies, friends and lovers. However, that transition from enemies to lovers was not very clear or satisfying, from one scene to the next they were already in love. It was very short, I didn't feel the emotion, the spark of a budding romance, it was: “you guys just fall in love for the sake of it”. I think that transition is the most important thing.

Similarly, there are other secondary characters, but they don't really contribute much to the plot, except for James' sister, who started it all. The others are just filler, but she is a good character to give a little more prominence in a second season. Like her, there were several loose ends at the end, which I hope they can pick up in the future and maybe give a more innovative touch to the series, and not just another story of teenage romance.

In conclusion, Maxton Hall is a series that plays with the clichés of “opposites attract”, do you think it really is so? 🤔 For them, this formula works. It's an entertaining story for a weekend break, when you want to disconnect for a while from reality. It leaves you with a pleasant feeling, of expectations. It is not an innovative series in its genre, but it fulfills its main function of entertaining you, with a visually attractive proposal along with emotional scenes to catch you. Furthermore, it is already approved for a second season, where hopefully they will deepen the dynamics of the characters and help them evolve in their relationship with themselves.

    See you later🩷

  3. Maxton Hall || Worth the hype or not?@oluchi31706d

What happens when you just come out of the exam hall, done with your last paper for the session? you sleep first and then bingewatch SERIES. You give your brain the pampering it has lacked for a while due to the academic stress.

An unforgettable semester it was but I’m happy I survived. If I was asked to describe the semester in a word, HORRIBLE is what I’d describe it. But in all, I’m grateful for everything. Now I proceed to the next level.

During the course of my exams, I made sure to store as many movies, dramas, anime, books and whatever fun thing I came across. Made a mental note of some, collected some from friends who already had them and downloaded some when I came across good network. So, in all, I accumulated a number of movies and dramas for this summer break. (Forgive my choice of the word ‘accumulated’. It just seemed so appropriate. Hehe)

Before I proceed, be rest assured that there are no spoilers in this review.

After my last paper, I decided to treat myself to a series which seemed to have been receiving all the hype on the internet some weeks ago – Maxton Hall: The World between us. I also came across a review here on how good the series is and when I came across it, I added it to my after-exam collection. Although the series was hyped by instagram, tiktok and even by friends, I didn’t find it to be worth all the hype. After watching, it just seemed like a regular series to me.

MAXTON HALL: THE WORLD BETWEEN US is a series of 6 episodes each season and it is based on the novel Save Me by Mona Kasten. The series stars Damian Hardung, Harriet Herbig-Matten and Sonja Weißer as leads. Also, the entire series was casted in german language.

    imdb

Maxton Hall is a school designed for the rich and wealthy. According to a character in the series, it is a microcosm of millionaires.

The first episode opens with James Beaufort (Damien Hardung), in bed with a girl. Both of them tangled in the sheets. He stands up from the bed, drink in one hand and walks out to meet his friends by the pool outside. He is dramatically welcomed into their midst and pushed into the pool playfully. He is called out when his sister, Lydia Beaufort (Sonja Beaufort) comes walking towards the pool, tears streaming down her face, her undereye a mess, thanks to mascara. She walked towards the pool, crying and ranting to her brother about how her life is going to be a mess if Ruby drags her into a scandal.

Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten), a girl from an average family who worked hard and got a scholarship into the prestigious Maxton Hall, wants to get into Oxford the next year, a university attended by former and future world leaders. But in order to get into Oxford, she needs a recommendation letter from one of the teachers at Maxton Hall. She then requests a recommendation letter from Mr. Sutton, one of their teachers at school. One fateful day, while she was just about leaving the school with her friend Lin, she finds a document she was meant to give Mr. Sutton. She runs back into the school and walks into Mr. Sutton and Lydia Beaufort kissing. The papers dropping from her hand and flying around. Getting herself back together, she bends, gathers them and leaves the classroom. Leaving Mr. Sutton and Lydia Beaufort panicking.

This whole situation requires James to intervene just so Ruby doesn’t tell on his sister. He offers her a huge sum of money to keep shut but she refuses. He even proposes his body for her to sleep with but she still remains a hard nut to crack. James who doesn’t know how else to get Ruby to shut up, is determined to make life hell for her.

Although I haven’t read the novel on which the series was based, I found the whole plot and storyline of the series amazing. And there’s also the casting. Many of the actors and actresses looked really suitable for the characters they portrayed. The only exception being Lydia, who to me, looked way too old to be James’s junior sister.

I loved the chemistry between the lead characters and the little humour weaved into the series but I found the series a bit too rushed which made me loose interest after a few episodes. I found myself replaying some parts in the series just to make sure I didn’t miss a point. But I didn’t find any. Although I’m not in anyway a director or related to movie productions of any sort, I feel the series would have been better if it wasn’t so rushed. An extra episode would not have hurt. For the purpose of avoiding spoilers, I would not elaborate on this anymore. But this made me loose interest and I found the series unappealing after the first two episodes.

There’s also the behavior of some characters which I found annoying at some point. The female lead’s insensitivity towards others, her alternating between being strong and ending up misbehaving, the Beaufort’s father’s masochistic and sexist statements. I found it all unsatisfying which led to my inability to enjoy the series. To me, it isn't really worth all the hype.

It is a nice series regardless but I don’t think I’ll be looking forward to the second season which is already in production.

    Rating: 6/10.

To my brain, I’m really sorry I couldn’t give you something really satisfying to watch after the end of semester exams. Now, lets find another scintillating movie to spoil ourselves with, shall we?

¡Hola queridos usuarios de Hive ✨💕!
    Hi dear Hive users ✨💕!

¡Hola Hola Comunidad!

Hello Hello Community! ✨, Well, it turns out that I've been discovered, I like teen series 🤣, although the truth is that lately I'm liking them less and less, and maybe it's because they are putting zero love and zero desire into the stories, they are taking for granted that since they are stories aimed at teenagers, they should not strive to be good, or at least that has been the common denominator of Netflix in recent times, because when we turn to see the productions of Prime Video we find something different, and proof of this is precisely the series I want to talk about today, which I came with low expectations and I left quite pleased 😌, so here I leave you my review of the recent teen series Maxton Hall: The World Between Us 💶📚.

    💕 PROTAGONISTAS || PROTAGONISTS 💶

I'll start by saying this without anesthesia, Prime Video is making better adaptations than Netflix, and I say this despite not having read the book, but when something is well done you can tell, and this series is definitely well done, in fact part of everything that is right about this project is undoubtedly its characters, or rather the actors. Ruby's character is magnificent in many ways, she's a teenager completely determined to achieve her goals, she doesn't hesitate or waver at any moment and that's something difficult to see lately in teenage protagonists, she's not afraid to stand up to James, even when he's in a position of privilege above her, but although we could say that this is typical of this kind of story, Ruby adds the different element of also knowing how to apologise when the situation warrants it.

Because for her the action of apologising has nothing to do with being vulnerable or submissive, but rather with being in control of the situation, an aspect that we later see reflected in other circumstances, so if I had to describe her character in one word, it would clearly be "determined". With Ruby we also have one of the most emotional scenes of the season, and I think those who have already seen the series will know that that scene in the car with James is enough to make anyone cry 🥺.

And just talking about James, we could say that he has an excellent character development, it is very noticeable that transition from being a complete egocentric and arrogant, to be someone with more empathy and closeness to others. Something I definitely love about his character is the unconditional support and love he shows for his sister, which in fact leads him to do everything for her, I like that despite being a character that can fall into the toxic, I felt that at no point did he cross that line, and although it might seem that towards the end of the season he is a bit of a snob, I say that in inverted commas because part of the reason why I don't consider him a toxic character has to do with the fact that it's his father who takes that title, and is responsible for the attitude that James takes at a certain moment.

And as I said before, although the merit of the series is focused on its characters, it is really the actors who take the prize, and especially the actor who plays James gets all my applause 👏🏻👏🏻, what a sublime way to show with facial expression all the feelings of his character, you realise the exact moment in which he falls in love with her, how even in the most overwhelming situation for him his look softens just by looking at her, it is without more than saying the golden performance of this series.

In general terms I liked the series, it caught me from the beginning and I found it extremely entertaining, as I said at the beginning, you can tell that it is well made and that it was made with enthusiasm and taking care of the details to the greatest extent, however not everything can be perfect and obviously it is a story with a couple of flaws. Even so I don't feel that these flaws are of great importance, but rather small plot holes, for me the most important is that I felt that we went very quickly from hate to love between the protagonists, when I started watching the series I thought that this transition typical of enemies to lovers would reach its peak about halfway through the season, so it was an absolute surprise for me to see that it happened much earlier, and that it was presented in a very hurried manner, or at least that's what I perceived.

Although I have said that the pillar of this series is in its performances, it is true that I can not say that all the characters had an excellent performance, because it is true that there are scenes that are quite cringe, and that the reason for it is the rather bizarre staging that is given, I must say that this happens in a very counted way if not almost nonexistent, but it does happen and for me it did not go unnoticed. Another gap that the story left me with, or rather it was a situation of confusion, is due to the geographical location of the events, I think I haven't mentioned this but the series is German, and I understand that the author is also German, so at the beginning I thought that the story was taking place precisely in Germany, and although there was mention of universities in England, I genuinely associated that the characters would be studying outside their own country, so it was a surprise for me after several chapters (and a lot of confusion), to understand that the story actually takes place geographically in the UK 🤣, and although again it is an element that can go unnoticed, I consider that if you come to the series without having read the book and not knowing anything about it as I did, you can get too confused when trying to understand where, geographically, the events of the series are taking place and as a viewer, this can play against you.

  5. Maxton Hall: The world between us@omokhafue754d

Hi guys. I'd say it's a lovely hour in here right now but that'll only be me lying. It's 6pm at the moment and I am seated on the ground, leaning against a wall with furrowed eyebrows. Yes, I'm frowning.

Was scrolling through Instagram and I kept seeing contents about this particular series that just came out. Normally, I don't usually watch series for their popularity but I was losing my mind at a particular moment and I needed something to distract me from the fact that my mind was being lost. Heard this particular series was a book before it was acted, it was literally the only thing that spiked up my interest. Source

I'm talking about Maxton Hall. After downloading all six episodes of the series, I got to find out that it's acted in Spanish and I needed to download extra subtitles to be able to watch it.

At that moment when I found out,I just slept man. I couldn't deal with that.😭😂

Maxton Hall is an adaption of the book series "Save Me" by Mona Kasten. The series revolves around the life of Ruby, a determined scholarship student at a top school,Maxton Hall who seeks to acquire a recommendation letter for her acceptance into the Oxford university. Ruby's focus is disrupted when she becomes witness to a teacher and student affairs between Mr Sutton and Lydia Beaufort. The Beaufort is a rich family, millionaires to say the least. James Beaufort, the heir of a millionaire tried to silent her by making her life hell. They unexpectedly develop feelings for eachother and I don't know, you should watch it if you want to know the rest. It's not the best prime video series I've watched but it's literally what's trending this year for prime video and I admire the movies, series that prime video produces. In a way, they excel in romance series/movies. Source

Now, this is just a quick and easy summary of the series,If you're looking for something soft, dull and interesting, you should definitely try it. As for what I rate it, I'd give it a 3 and half out of 5 stars. This is entirely my opinion though and I'd love to hear yours once you've seen it. Thanks for reading.

  6. Why so much hype with Maxton Hall?@lucianav759d

    💕 Hello Hive Community! 💕

I guess I have to admit that over time my tastes have changed quite a bit when it comes to watching movies and series. Also when it comes to reading books. Obviously, this book detail is something that I share with you frequently in my weekly reviews, but today we are going to focus on the fact that I don't love watching romance movies and series anymore because I feel that the stories don't grab me, but at the end of the day I get to tolerate them. So that's how I came to watch this series, which has been a stir on the internet, a lot of people have said it's great. It's Maxton Hall and I have some opinions about it.

    2.png

To make a long story short, this is a series about a girl named Ruby Bell who studies at a very prestigious school on scholarship and she is typical of a studious girl, who doesn't talk to anyone, is invisible and evidently has other ideals. She witnesses a very intense secret, a kiss between a student and a professor, and as a result she is basically “stalked” a bit by the chic's brother, who happens to be the male lead, James Beaufort, an arrogant millionaire. James begins to bribe her and insist that she not tell what she saw, even though Ruby's plans were not to say anything, as it was none of his business. And that's how these protagonists begin to live together a little more by circumstances of life and begin to understand each other a little more, and then obviously develop emotions between them and fall in love.

    3.png

This is the typical story of an invisible girl with a super arrogant protagonist, who inherits a fortune or an empire, to level up the thing. Which evidently has been instilled in him that he has to be perfect, even though he doesn't want to be, and to top it all off, this relationship that forms obviously wasn't going to be supported by the Beaufort family. Overall it's a 100% pure cliché, which actually looks pretty smooth, although I do have opinions. First of all, I have to say that I was sold this story as Enemies to Lovers and the Enemies thing lasted literally one chapter, the second chapter they softened it up and honestly it was a disappointment. On the other hand, I don't think I found the main characters attractive at all and I don't feel that they matched each other, I didn't see much chemistry, there were only 3 moments that I did see some spark, but not much.

    4.png

Do I think it's bad? Not really. I feel it's for a specific audience, maybe teenagers or people who really enjoy this kind of series. For me the truth is not so good, it didn't seem like a big deal, even though the Hype it has is pretty big in social networks. Everyone is talking about this series and how “beautiful” it is. To me it doesn't seem like a beautiful romance, it was a cliché romance. And don't get me wrong, some clichés I do like, but this one didn't convey much emotion to me. It's not like those clichés that are cute and you fall in love in the process, and for me to fall in love with a male character I'm doing my major and I didn't connect with any character in this series let alone the male character. For my taste, out of five stars I give it only two, I don't find it to be really bad, there are really bad series and this one kept me mildly entertained. And well, I simply comply with giving my opinions about it, I hope you liked to know them, see you soon!

  7. Maxton Hall: The World Between Us – The Bestseller About the Invisible and Tempting Ruby Bell | Miniserie Review [En-Es]@neruel777d

Invisible, strong and sexy. She is someone who doesn't fit in; but who is like fire. You light it and it is able to burn you without being able to be extinguished. Her eyes, her mouth, her skin and being are what every man wishes to have. I fell at her feet too!

Invisible, fuerte y sexy.

Maxton Hall The World Between Us.jpg

Maxton Hall is Prime Video's new 6-episode miniseries adapted from the Save Me trilogy written by Mona Kasten. A Bestseller comes back to the screens to show the love, agony, pain, suffering, happiness and understanding of two different young people. It is different not only for their way of seeing life but also for their condition and social position.

Beautiful and beautiful Ruby Bell, a character that incredibly matures little by little in each episode. It captivates you, envelops you and attracts you despite the plot, which is not different from what we have seen so far but remains solidified due to the strong structuring and identity of the characters. In literature, we call this effect literary personality.

The reflection and message of the central argument of the miniseries is: Whenever you have a dream, you can achieve it if you work for it.

Ruby Bell has a dream of getting into Oxford, one of the most prestigious universities on planet Earth. Therefore, she always wanted to go unnoticed at Maxton Hall College. She did not want anyone to look at her; no one should watch her; no one should talk to her. Only those of her own social class could converse with each other. The reality is that at Maxton Hall School, only the children of Germany's millionaire families study.

Maxton Hall The World Between Us (1).jpg

Unexpectedly, everything changes for Ruby Bell. Just opening her teacher door will let her know something she shouldn't know. Something is so serious that it will bring her closer to the most popular, arrogant and opulent boy at Maxton Hall School: James Beaufort.

At this point, I must highlight the performance of Harriet Herbig-Matten as Ruby Bell. He simply shows in each episode the beauty of an innocent girl who matures and dares to face the world. She is the synonym and the clear reflection of a memorable performance that recognizes the character she plays.

I must also rate Damian Hardung very highly as James Beaufort; he demonstrates the indolence, frivolity, lack of perspective on life, and emotional fractures of the protagonist. As each episode progresses, we see James who is beginning to understand himself and finds himself imprisoned by his family's relevance and wealth. Apparently, the children of millionaire families are only tradable objects. That is what Mona Kasten wished to convey in her Save Me books.

Another important reflection is left by the performance of actress Sonja Weißer as Lydia Beaufort: The meaning of being a mother, being an empowered woman with the ability to grow. Incidentally, Lydia is always the second choice of the Beaufort family, but she herself finds the answers she needs in the midst of loneliness and suffering.

Maxton Hall The World Between Us (3).jpg

In the miniseries, there are two genres that are preponderantly exploited: Romance and Drama. The romance is born innocently, in the middle of the dispute and the growth of the protagonists. There is a phrase that even I believe in, and that is hoisted in a scene: When you truly love, you are also capable of letting go of that person for their sake.

In the case of Drama, everything is like an explosion of emotions for each protagonist. James Beaufort holds himself back; it's even as if a gunshot pierces him, and he endures the pain. For Ruby, it's like a ticking time bomb. Being of a different economic status than her classmates is rough; enduring their stares and even her phobia of water is something that reflects the drama very well in the miniseries.

Visually, the infrastructure of the space, the European buildings and the photographic shots at junctures stand out. Of course, without diminishing the emotion they convey, but rather highlighting what they mean.

This miniseries is one of the reasons why I subscribed again to Prime Video. It's a perfect choice to enjoy on the weekend; each episode is between 44 and 46 minutes long. I hope you can watch Maxton Hall: The World Between Us and enjoy it as much as I did.

Espero que puedas ver Maxton Hall: The World Between Us y disfrutarla como yo.
