  1. Just finished "Messiah" on Netflix - Was it worth the time? Absolutely!@unbiasedwriter2101d

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about the Netflix original series named Messiah. It was recommended here by @netflixr, and he called it one of the best series he had seen this year. That intrigued me, and I wrote an article about the series after watching three episodes. I was really enthusiastic about the show then, but what is the status after watching all ten episodes?

    To sum it up quickly...

I am really sad that there ain't gonna be a second season! As I watched the first season, I was really curious to find out if there would come a second season. I also reading the words of @netflixr who said he would for sure stream a second season as well, if it would ever come. So, I was actually sad to discover that Netflix didn't renew it for a second season.

But, I have got to admit that by the middle of the final episode, I had my doubts about whether or not I would be interested in the second season. Our so-called Messiah seemed to be more of the world than I had hoped for. But, then the final minutes changed it all. What is the truth?

The series make you reflect on life...

I really like the way the series make you think about big questions in life. Not necessarily about religion, about Jesus, and fanaticism, but also about the way we deal with what we see. This might be a bit of a spoiler, but when the so-called Messiah decides to walk on water, how do you deal with that? Everyone see the same thing, but the way people relate to it and speak of it is widely different. I guess that is a great example of how we deal with COVID and all other aspects of life, and this is how it is entirely up to every individual to make their own decisions about life, faith, religion, and any other aspect of life!

    What makes Messiah so great?

Once again, I wrote some words on this in my previous article as well. But, I really like the fact that it doesn't entirely give you the answers, but every viewer will all the time sit with their own thoughts about the reality surrounding the Messiah character. It is also easy to see oneself in the characters surrounding the Messiah. Do you feel like the Pastor, or maybe the daughter of the pastor or the wife of the pastor? Or are you more like the agent player by Ruth Wilson who tries to understand him? Or are you like the Israeli agent who is filled with anger and wounds, who simply want to kill the Messiah and go on with life?

It is so easy to feel at home and identify with some of the characters in the series, and that is what made it so wonderful.

Messiah requires 500 minutes of your life!

If you want to watch this, it will require approximately 500 minutes of your life (a little bit less). Since there will be no further seasons, that is everything you will get. I have recommended this series to several friends already, and they are all enjoying it.

In other words, this is a series that captivate a lot of people discussing a Messiah kind of figure suddenly showing up in Syria, getting followers, and then suddenly showing up in other parts of the world.

I will not go further into the details of the series, but if you want a great show on Netflix in ten parts, this is one I can warmly recommend. And once again, do not forgot to read my previous article about the series as well!

Luckily, this is an original show, meaning that you do not need to change your Netflix region or use VPN services to unblock it on Netflix. But, if you want to know more about how you can access content on Netflix only available in certain countries, make sure to check out the following Reddit about the best VPN services for Netflix.

  2. A Messiah review (Netflix series) - Based on the first three episodes!@unbiasedwriter2132d

I remember when Messiah was added to Netflix... I was ignorant, and I didn't care. I like Ruth Wilson who is playing in the series, but still, it didn't attract me. Then I read a review written by @netflixr (which you can find here: https://peakd.com/netflix/@netflixr/messiah-on-netflix-quite-possibly-the-best-series-they-have-for-now) and I suddenly understood, that I need to give it a try.

I am watching the series when I do some cardio training at home on my elliptical trainer, meaning that I am progressing quite slowly, but at least, I am really looking forward to my next training session, simply because of this show.

    messiahg.jpg

I had no clue what to expect when I got started, but it didn't last long for me to really "fall in love" with this show.

Is this a religious mess-up show?

I have only seen three episodes, but I have got to say that Netflix has done a great job (so far) in making this a show that doesn't really condemn, judge, or make fun of the religions in the world as we know them today. It is not telling that one is better than the others, instead, it is making a middle way in which the "Messiah" is gathering believers among all groups.

I have read a lot in the Bible and in a way, I could easily imagine Jesus behaving something like what we can see the Messiah character in this series do. He is answering with wisdom, he is often quoting holy scriptures, and he is for sure inspired by the great thinkers, and especially, by the words of Jesus.

However, it doesn't make any attempt on making Jesus the expected Messiah, instead, we are served a new Messiah who just have many similarities.

And yes, it makes me curious, it entertains me, and it has got to be one of the most interesting TV series that I have seen in a long time.

Will this show mess up your faith?

Haha, what a question! I believe it might create an interest in religion for people who haven't cared much until now. It might confuse some believers who haven't managed to find solid foundation at where they are at right now. But, first of all, this is a TV series, a Netflix original series, and their motivation is to make money and to entertain their subscribers. It is important to keep this in mind, and that is why they have made it as "harmless" as possible, making sure not to make subscribers in Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Hinduist, and other "religiouns" countries hurt by what they see.

    watching on netflix.jpg

When I attended school, we learn about the USA as a melting pot in which all religions, people, and everything just melted together and became something new. Well, that is what is happening in this show as well. It mixes everything into soup of everything. Someone might find that to be disturbing, but I just find it to be Netflix's way of making money! And, it doesn't really weaken my faith in Jesus, it just makes me even more curious about what he actually might have been like walking around here on earth 2000 years ago!

    Where to watch it?

You can watch Messiah on Netflix everywhere. It has 10 episodes, and the average episode lasts about 35 minutes. I often use SurfsharkVPN to change my Netflix region, but considering that this is a Netflix original show, I don't need to change my Netflix region nor anything, since it is available in all the countries of the world (in which Netflix is available).

Have you seen Messiah? Did you like it? Were you able to watch it purely as entertainment, or did it stir up any thoughts you have had about Christianity, Judaism, or other religions? I would love to hear from you!

And yes, I will be back whenever I have exercised seven more times (which hopefully should be within a couple of weeks) to share my thoughts on the series after finishing it all!

  3. Noob Film Review - M E S S I A H (Netflix)@nazirullsafry2342d

    B915AA6D-31E0-4F0F-9D37-9870FD6BC8D7.jpeg

In the current world setting, a mysterious figure appeared performing biblical miracles, triggering the minds of believers (and non-believers) worldwide.

Faith (or the absence of it) is being put to the test. It is the prophecy of the end-times messiah unfolding infront of their eyes, globally, with the advance in media.

Characters like a daughter, a government intelligence officer, a refugee, an extremist and even the President of the United States is being put into a dilemma. They question their faiths after their personal encounter with the messiah.

    E51B3DB4-4E1A-4080-99B6-610815675090.jpeg

The mysterious figure is being called Al-Masih (Messiah). He didn’t asked to be called that. Nor that he declared himself to be the people’s saviour.

Judgements are being made by the people when God supposed to be the judge. The final shot of the final episode, Al-Masih almost looking at the viewer, akin looking at a mirror saying,

“For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again” Matthew 7:2

    F8A01683-F540-401B-9331-0F76560660AC.jpeg

That is probably the main message of this series, something that no review touches. (Most of them judge the existance of the series instead). And the change that one seek will not be done by any saviour from God, it is done within you, by yourself.

You (we) are your (our) own saviour.

This is indeed the current world we are in today. Does not take a Messiah to decend from God for us to judge each other.

Thanks for dropping by! #teammalaysia @teammalaysia

  4. Messiah on Netflix might be the best show on TV now (NO SPOILERS)@netflixr2369d

While it does have a lot in common with shows that we have seen before, especially Homeland this show has all the makings of something really epic and even though I am only 4 episodes in, I have enjoyed (almost) every minute of it.

    images (4).jpg src

The series focuses on one man, who appears in the Middle East claiming to be the Jesus or "Isa" and has been brought to the world to bring about the end of days. This sparks great doubt at first among the local population and later the rest of the world, but his involvement in a string of miracles sends the world searching, including the CIA.

    images (5).jpg src

The series is beautifully shot and the locations are incredible. It is meant to take place primarily in the Middle East but a lot of the filming was actually done in New Mexico, which as someone who has been there, looks a lot like the Middle East with the right camera angles.

The series involves multiple languages and therefore you are going to need to do a lot of reading to enjoy it and therefore this series cannot be watched in the background while you are doing something else. This isn't a problem though because the pacing is fantastic and there are rarely any sort of boring moments.

    messiah-season-2-1577994222846.webp src

The first series is 10 episodes long and I am not far along enough in it to make any sort of overall judgement.

I was drawn to watch this series initially because of two reasons: One, it was new and appeared quite prominantly on my "home" interface and two, because it sparked predictable controversy in certain countries like Jordan, who have blocked it from being viewed in that country. Controversy is a sure-fire way to get me to tune in and I think it works on other people as well. It almost makes me wonder if the controversy was arranged by Netflix themselves since all publicity is good publicity, right?

I think that almost everyone is already watching this epic series and the news is filled with stories about it. I think you should get in there and see this gem before someone accidentally spoils it in a random conversation.
