  1. NOS4A2 - A Mature & Violent Vampire Story@giovaabbatichio2439d

Lately it's rare to come across stories of vampires that are different and that treat the characters in an adult and terrifying way, now what we see are teen vampires who fall in love, drink and have sex constantly; and OK I'm not saying they're boring stories, only that they've already become extremely repetitive. Fortunately someone thought it would be a good idea to adapt a vampire story and take it further down the path of terror, I say fortunately because the result was very good, not perfect, but very prominent, of course I'm talking about NOS4A2.

    # # The Plot. # NOS4A2 is a story of vampires where originally there is only one, a vampire of several years that despite what we might think is not dedicated to feed on blood compulsively, this vampire is more reserved and extremely creepy, but is dedicated to "saving" children. The plot of this series is somewhat complicated because it summarizes many conflicts that happen simultaneously and at times confuses us with so many things. Finally, as I told you in this series, we have a vampire who changes his appearance depending on his strengths and those of his old car (Yes, I didn't understand about the car either), who is dedicated to kidnapping children abused by their parents or who live in deplorable conditions to take them to a dream world created by him, a world called "Christmasland" where apparently they will be safe ( yes sure ) and will be able to spend eternity having fun, however all this christmasland thing is obviously a cover for their dark intentions, intentions that remain hidden until the end.

On the other hand, together with the vampire story that kidnaps children we have a young girl who lives in really bad conditions, conditions that constantly affect her mind putting her on the verge of multiple collapses, a young girl who has to face the fact that her parents have no responsibility for her and that they constantly put her in the middle of their discussions. But then why is this young woman important? Because she is basically the nemesis of our vampire, this young woman is able to create/invoke a bridge that can transport her wherever she wants, this young woman will almost by chance be put in the place of heroin to have to rescue the abducted children and fight the vampire with the help of some friends, something like an anti-vampire squad.

The story is not boring, but it is VERY complicated, because it not only focuses on this kind of battle and confrontation between young Vic and Vampire Charlie, but also on a lot of social and psychological issues that affect the characters a lot, and do not allow them to progress, issues that at times become too intense, that tires.

    # # Personal Opinion. # As I said at the beginning I am very grateful for the path they chose to make this story and in fact I liked it very much, because the creators achieved something different, something that moves away from the paranormal (a little), the cliches, and the fan service to become a mature, gloomy series that constantly emanates an aura of horror really catching. This is a series that has a lot of elements of terror and that takes fantastic advantage of them to establish a slow rhythm that little by little takes us to a wonderful end.

Another point certainly highlighted are the performances, Zachary Quinto seems to me that stands out much in this facet of villain bitter, grim and abusive because it manages to convey constant emotional twists that are rarely seen in television villains, here he is a silent villain who does not reveal his plans and never moves away from his goals, here everything leads to a goal, win. The young woman who plays Vic also does a fantastic job, above all because she fantastically manages to incarnate a young woman who constantly has a repressed fear that she can't accept, a fear that doesn't help her make good decisions and that constantly takes her away from reality.

I'm not going to deny you that the rhythm of the series is slow and that in order to appreciate it we need to open our minds a little and give it time, since the plot is constantly going down tedious paths that could make us abandon it but in general this is a very good series, with a Gothic Christmas atmosphere that reminds us a lot of those horror classics that were great. The series takes a very terrifying story and adapts it as best as possible softening the gothic tone but without leaving aside its essence that is basically a horror that is not subtle and instead offers us a lot of violence.

    My Score: 7,3/10
