Source I saw this film (Oliver Twist 1948) a few nights ago and found it a bit funny and yes, a bit light-hearted at times. The scenes and situations were guessable, although at certain points in the film there were briefly disturbing, so that's where the quality of this film falls short (at least some of these moments would have added more). Straight from the momentum of the success of the other Dickens adaptation Great Expectations in 1946, comes Oliver Twist in 1948.
