Hace unas semanas finalizó y es por eso que quiero aprovechar para traerles la reseña de esta novela llamada Pantanal.
Hello friends! Today I bring you something different from what I usually watch. Since a few months ago I was following a Brazilian telenovela that was being aired in my country's channels in prime time. So it was impossible not to get hooked with each chapter. A few weeks ago it ended and that's why I want to take the opportunity to bring you the review of this soap opera called Pantanal.

Trama - Plot
La historia sigue a José Leoncio, un joven peón que hizo fortuna con la cría de ganado vacuno, especialmente de marruás, que son más salvajes. Su padre, Juventino, fue conocido por domar a estos animales sin necesidad de usar un lazo. Ellos establecieron su hacienda en el Pantanal que es un lugar de Brasil donde predomina más la selva que la civilización. Se dice que es la tierra olvidada de Dios.
The story follows José Leoncio, a young farmhand who made his fortune raising cattle, especially marrua cattle, which are wilder. His father, Juventino, was known for taming these animals without the use of a lasso. They established their ranch in the Pantanal, which is a place in Brazil where the jungle is more predominant than civilization. It is said to be God's forgotten land.
Un día el viejo Juventino desaparece de la nada y José, que lo busco sin parar durante meses, se vuelca de lleno en su trabajo y logra forjar una gran fortuna convirtiéndose en el rey del ganado. Su arduo trabajo lo llevó hasta Río de Janeiro por temas de negocios. Allí va a conocer a una joven de clase alta llamada Madeleine, con la que tendrá un romance fugaz y apasionado que termina con ellos dos regresando al Pantanal como un matrimonio. Tras un tiempo, Madeleine no se acostumbra a la vida de ahí y termina huyendo con el pequeño Juventino, el hijo que tuvo con José.
One day, old Juventino disappears out of nowhere and José, who has been looking for him for months, throws himself into his work and manages to forge a great fortune by becoming the king of cattle. His hard work takes him to Rio de Janeiro on business. There he meets an upper-class young woman named Madeleine, with whom he has a fleeting and passionate romance that ends with the two of them returning to the Pantanal as a married couple. After a while, Madeleine does not get used to life there and ends up running away with little Juventino, the son she had with José.

Parece una trama sencilla, pero en el medio hay una joven que se vuelve jaguar cuando siente rabia, un viejo del río que se convierte en anaconda y que es el padre de las tierras del Pantanal, un peón que hizo pacto con el diablo y ahora este habla a través de él, un estafador que tiene más muertes en su camino que dinero y una venganza pendiente que va a desencadenar muchas desgracias.
It seems a simple plot, but in the middle there is a young girl who becomes a jaguar when she feels rage, an old man of the river who becomes an anaconda and who is the father of the Pantanal lands, a peon who made a pact with the devil and now the devil speaks through him, a swindler who has more deaths in his way than money and a pending revenge that will unleash many misfortunes.
Reseña - Review
Bueno, intenté resumir lo mejor que pude la trama de esta historia, ya que es bastante compleja porque hay varias subtramas y todas son importantes a mí parecer. Es una historia bastante espiritual también, llena de la magia y la fantasía de la cultura brasileña donde predomina la conexión con la naturaleza y las emociones.
Well, I tried to summarize as best I could the plot of this story, as it is quite complex because there are several subplots and all of them are important in my opinion. It is a quite spiritual story as well, full of the magic and fantasy of the Brazilian culture where the connection with nature and emotions predominates.
El Pantanal es un lugar que posee magia por sí mismo. Por lo que es normal que sucedan hechos extraños y sobrenaturales sin explicación. La verdad es que es una novela para mirar con la mente abierta. La vi con mi madre y ella no entiende mucho cuando suceden estas cosas fantasiosas, así que tenía que andar explicándole.
The Pantanal is a place that possesses magic by itself. So it is normal that strange and supernatural events happen without explanation. The truth is that it is a novel to look at with an open mind. I watched it with my mother and she doesn't understand much when these fantasy things happen, so I had to go around explaining it to her.
También es genial que sea una novela inclusiva, ya que hay un personaje que es homosexual y se tiene que enfrentar a los prejuicios que pueda encontrarse en un lugar donde están menos civilizados, por decirlo de alguna manera, ya que allí todos se creen muy machos y están mal vistas las flores (ese es el termino que utilizan en la novela). Pero deja un buen mensaje al respecto, al igual que sobre el lugar de la mujer.
It is also great that it is an inclusive novel, since there is a character who is homosexual and has to face the prejudices that may be found in a place where they are less civilized, so to speak, since there everyone thinks they are very macho and flowers are frowned upon (that is the term they use in the novel). But it leaves a good message in this regard, as well as about the place of women.
Como no podía ser de otra manera, hay bastante romance y muchas parejas, pero no es cursi ni nada. Particularmente no es lo que más me atrajo en esta producción. Aparte hay mucha ida y vuelta entre algunas parejas y eso me resulta aburrido. De hecho, no me convenció tanto el romance principal, pero sí es una linda historia de amor, y aquí va un pequeño spoiler, entre Juventino y Juma, la joven que se vuelve jaguar.
Unsurprisingly, there's quite a bit of romance and lots of couples, but it's not cheesy or anything. Particularly that's not what attracted me the most in this production. Besides, there's a lot of back and forth between some couples and I found that boring. In fact, I wasn't so convinced by the main romance, but it is a nice love story, and here's a little spoiler, between Juventino and Juma, the young girl who becomes a jaguar.
La historia espiritual me hizo acordar un poco a los chamanes, esos que se hacen uno con un animal en específico. El viejo del río da esas vibras. Y la joven que se vuelve jaguar siento que es una representación de que se tuvo que volver salvaje para lograr sobrevivir en esa tierra hostil.
The spiritual story reminded me a bit of shamans, those who become one with a specific animal. The old man in the river gives those vibes. And the young girl who becomes a jaguar I feel is a representation that she had to become wild to survive in that hostile land.
Además de ser una producción bastante atrapante, también tuvo sus partes divertidas y emotivas. La música brasileña es otro gran plus, es que me encanta y está no es la excepción. Me gustó incluso más por contener elementos clásicos y de pueblo, con ritmos y melodías sencillas. La fotografía me cautivo, los paisajes son muy hermosos, dan ganas de conocer ese lugar, aunque solo fuera para admirarlo.
Besides being a very engaging production, it also had its funny and emotional parts. Brazilian music is another big plus, I love it and this one is no exception. I liked it even more for containing classical and village elements, with simple rhythms and melodies. The photography captivated me, the landscapes are very beautiful, it makes you want to know that place, even if only to admire it.
El final estuvo acorde a lo esperado, aunque lo vi venir a lo lejos, pero me gustó que haya sucedido de esa manera. Estoy conforme con cómo se dieron las cosas. Sentí que era un ciclo, una rueda que gira y sigue su curso. Si la ven me van a entender. Me pareció un buen final.
The end was in line with expectations, although I saw it coming in the distance, but I was pleased that it happened that way. I am happy with the way things turned out. I felt it was a cycle, a wheel that turns and continues its course. If you see it you will understand me. I thought it was a good ending.
