   ¡Buenas noches! Hoy necesito expulsar todo ese odio cuando una película no me gusta y que pudo ser muchísimo mejor, me encanta las películas o series de época en serio tengo una obsesión con sus estilos (estoy consciente que no son épocas fáciles, pero me encanta toda esa ambientación).

   Goodnight! Today I need to get rid of all that hatred when I don't like a movie and that it could have been much better, I really love period movies or series I have an obsession with their styles (I'm aware that they aren't easy times, but I love it all that setting).

   Antes de comenzar ésta crítica destructiva, no puede faltar dar un resumen de la trama para que me acompañen en el odio, la película que comentaré hoy se llama Persuasión (2022).

   Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson) una mujer bastante sencilla en comparación con su familia pero a su vez excéntrica en sus pensamientos,cuando su familia cae en la bancarrota se lleva la sorpresa con el regreso de su primer amor, actualmente capitán Frederick Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis).

   Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson) a fairly simple woman compared to her family but at the same time eccentric in her thoughts, when her family goes bankrupt she gets the surprise with the return of her first love, currently Captain Frederick Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis).

   Anne con una personalidad bastante mercada, podemos apreciar que se mantiene soltera desde hace aproximadamente 7 años desde que rechazó a su primero amor Frederick por la Persuasión familiar, porque no podía casarse con un hombre en status mucho menor que la de ella (es decir un hombre pobre). Ya aquí todo mal, Anne coleccionaba todos los logros pasados de Frederick posicionándolo en un total pedestal y con una seguridad de que él aún no la ha olvidado.

Here everything is wrong, Anne collected all of Frederick's past achievements, placing him on a total pedestal and with the certainty that he has not yet forgotten her.

   

   Su encuentro con Frederick obviamente no fue como ella se imaginó, no la trató con el cariño que esperaba (¡Pues claro! Lo rechazaste por ser pobre sin proteger su amor a capa y espada, claro que va a sentirse resentido y más aún que ninguno de los dos logró cerrar ciclo mutuamente).

   Her meeting with Frederick obviously did not go as she imagined, he did not treat her with the affection she expected (Of course! You rejected him for being poor without protecting his love tooth and nail, of course he will feel resentful and even more so than anyone of the two managed to mutually close the cycle).

   

   Frederick el peor de todos y debo decir que no me cautivó, no me movió el mundo ni el corazón, y como espectadora estuve en toda la película pensando Amiga ¿Pero que le ves a este hombre?. Quizás fue la actuación de Jarvis que no terminó de convencerme para interpretar a Frederick, intenté ver la película como si fuera nueva y totalmente alejada con la versión del año 2007 pero, el físico de Rupert Penry-Jones y su actuación me cautivó mucho más, había más sentimiento (el guión para esta versión sobre todo con este personaje en particular lo destruyó totalmente). No florecía ninguna química al lado de Anne , ni siquiera en los momentos que podríamos decir más “románticos”.

   Frederick the worst of all and I must say that he did not captivate me, he did not move the world or my heart, and as a spectator I was throughout the film thinking Friend, but what do you see in this man?. Perhaps it was Jarvis's performance that didn't convince me to play Frederick, I tried to see the film as if it were new and totally removed from the 2007 version, but the physique of Rupert Penry-Jones and his The acting captivated me much more, there was more feeling (the script for this version especially with this character in particular totally destroyed it). No chemistry bloomed next to Anne, not even in the moments that we could say more “romantic”.

   

   Ni hablemos de Mr William Elliot (Henry Golding) otro desastre más en esta historia, por un momento pensé que él me haría sentir más emociones digamos pero sólo fue un personaje con una personalidad más al estilo “bad boy” que nos hace confundir a nosotros los espectadores con sus verdaderas intenciones y por su seductora personalidad que al final no fue tan cautivador tampoco (diciéndole a Anne unas excusas tan malas como por ejemplo: No quería que el padre de Anne se casara con una mujer que no recuerdo ni su nombre). Todo mal porque hasta le propone matrimonio a Anne (incluso dándole tiempo para que lo piense) y todo esto llegando al clímax de toda la situación tóxica entre Anne y Frederick (me ama o no me ama).

   Cuando Anne lee la carta de Frederick y corre a toda velocidad en su búsqueda, vaya sorpresa que se encuentra Anne observando a William besándose con otra mujer (nada más y nada menos que la mujer que supuestamente podría comprometerse con el padre de Anne), todo muy abrupto sin espacios para conocerlo mejor y su historia de amor mejor contada. Fue tan abrupto y sin mencionar que hasta de él nos ponen la boda algo que la verdad a mi no me interesaba ver, fue la manera en la que contaron todo que destruyó esta película porque su fotografía es otra historia.

   

   Algunas situaciones o acciones se tornaron absurdas y que la verdad no me hacía conectar con el momento y emociones, sin embargo, no todo fue malo, me encanta la actriz Dakota Johnson su personaje Anne tuvo diálogos buenos a la hora de debatir con personas o incluso con el mismo Frederick, debo decir que la hermana menor Mary Elliot tuvo los mejores diálogos que rompían el hielo de la situación, aunque su actitud en momentos me parecía exagerada y no se preocupaba ni siquiera en cuidar a sus hijos hasta te hace pensar si ella realmente está mentalmente incapacitada para cuidarlos ella misma, su esposo parecía su esclavo que la debía cargar cuando ella ya "no tenía fuerzas" para caminar o se inventaba alguna excusa para que él u otras personas hicieran lo que ella deseaba.

   Some situations or actions became absurd and the truth did not make me connect with the moment and emotions, however, not everything was bad, I love actress Dakota Johnson, her character Anne had good dialogues when debating with people or even with Frederick himself, I must say that the younger sister Mary Elliot had the best dialogues that broke the ice of the situation, although her attitude seemed exaggerated at times and she did not even care about taking care of her children It even makes you think if she really is mentally incapacitated to take care of them herself, her husband seemed like her slave who had to carry her when she "no longer had the strength" to walk or invented some excuse for him or other people to do what she wanted.

   

   Su fotografía es hermosa y agradable a la vista, es todo lo que está bien, jugando con los tonos fríos y cálidos en momentos específicos podemos apreciar la belleza de todo el entorno. También incluiré la ropa sobre todo la Anne donde su color más destacable fue el azul / verde, claro que tuvo más colores en su vestuario pero sus colores más usados fueron en esa paleta de color apartando los otros clores como el negro o rojo.

   Your photography is beautiful and pleasing to the eye, it's all good, playing with cold and warm tones at specific moments we can appreciate the beauty of the whole environment. It will also include clothes, especially Anne where her most notable color was blue / green, of course she had more colors in her wardrobe but her most used colors were in that color palette, apart from other colors such as black or red.

   Y así concluye este review, muchas emociones encontradas por ello recomiendo y lo ideal es verla sin comparación, es decir, como si nunca se hubiera sacado una versión antes de Persuasión.

   I have been a fan of Jane Austen for many years, therefore I know most of the adaptations that exist of her books. Persuasion is a book that despite being one of her best, as it shows the greatness and maturity of the author at the time it was written, so far it had not been adapted by a major production company and when I saw that Netflix decided to do it I was very excited, plus it had a good cast: Dakota Johnson, Cosmo Jarvis, Henry Golding, among others. Unfortunately the result, in my opinion, was not the most favorable, in this post I will tell you why.

   Soy fan de Jane Austen desde hace muchos años, por ende conozco la mayoría de adaptaciones que existen de sus libros. Persuasión es un libro que a pesar de ser de sus mejores, ya que muestra la grandeza y madurez de la autora al momento de ser escrito, hasta el momento no había sido adaptado por una gran productora y cuando vi que Netflix decidió hacerlo me emocioné mucho, aunado a eso tenía un elenco bueno: Dakota Johnson, Cosmo Jarvis, Henry Golding, entre otros. Lastimosamente el resultado, en mi opinión, no fue lo más favorable, en este post les cuento porque.

   

   

   

   

   First let's talk a little about the plot, Persuasion tells us how Anne Elliot, who is the most "normal" of a rather self-centered and peculiar family still has not been able to overcome her engagement to Frederick Wentworth, despite having spent 7 years since breaking it, after being convinced by those close to her that he was not worthy of marrying her for mainly monetary reasons, also Anne's life seems to have stopped in monotony after this. Everything takes a 180° turn when she rents her house to Wentsworth's sister and sees him again, she begins to wonder if he is over her, and we also see how Anne is sought after by her cousin William Elliot, who is the heir to her father's title and possessions, because he is a man.

   Primero hablemos un poco del plot, Persuasión nos cuenta cómo Anne Elliot, quien es la más "normal" de una familia bastante egocéntrica y peculiar aún no ha podido superar su compromiso con Frederick Wentworth, a pesar de haber transcurrido 7 años desde haber roto el mismo, luego de haber sido convencida por sus allegados de que el no era digno de casarse con ella por razones principalmente monetarias, ademas la vida de Anne parece haberse detenido en monotonía luego de esto. Todo da un giro de 180° cuando al alquilarle su casa a la hermana de Wentsworth está vuelve a verle, comienza para ella la incertidumbre de si él la ha superado, asimismo, vemos cómo Anne es pretendida por su primo William Elliot, quien es el heredero del título y posesiones de su padre, por ser hombre.

   

   

   

   

   In general the aesthetics of the film I liked quite a lot: the costumes, the landscapes, the photography, all that part is very well achieved, it is necessary to recognize it, also, it is to highlight what Netflix has been doing with including people of different races and minorities to the cast, all this is done in a way that does not feel forced, it's nice. My main problem lies in that everything is so well placed and achieved that the fact that our protagonist does things like talking to the camera and breaking the fourth wall feels very strange, what seeks to be funny ends up being weird, because it's not something you situate in that era and the movie is so serious that those touches of modernity make it strange. If for example the film had an aesthetic like Bridgerton's, which is very jocular, cartoonish and even surreal maybe this could work and it wouldn't feel so unnatural. In this order of ideas, the seriousness of the book is totally overshadowed and displaced by the dialogues written to our heroine, there is a line that shocked me a lot where Anne says something like Wentworth friendzoned her, and it is absurd given the nature of her character: a mature woman with criteria.

   En general la estetica de la película me gustó bastante: los vestuarios, los paisajes, la fotografía, toda esa parte está muy bien lograda, es necesario reconocerlo, también, es de destacar lo que ha venido haciendo Netflix con incluir personas de diferentes razas y minorías al elenco, todo esto se hace de manera que no se siente forzada, es bonito. Mi problema principal radica en que todo está tan bien situado y logrado que el hecho de que nuestra protagonista haga cosas como hablar a la cámara y romper la cuarta pared se sienta muy extraño, lo que busca ser gracioso termina siendo raro, porque no es algo que sitúes en esa época y la pelicula es tan seria que esos toques de modernidad la hacen extraña. Si por ejemplo la película tuviera una estética como la de Bridgerton, que es muy jocosa, caricaturesca e incluso surrealista tal vez esto podría funcionar y no se sintiera tan poco natural. En este orden de ideas, la seriedad del libro se ve totalmente opacada y desplazada por los diálogos que escribieron a nuestra heroína, hay una línea que me chocó muchísimo donde Anne dice algo como que Wentworth la friendzonó, y es absurdo dada la naturaleza de su personaje: una mujer madura con criterio.

   

   

   

   

   The direction they gave to the film makes no sense to me, it was preferable to make an adaptation would be like Pride and Prejudice (2005) or a film of this era based on the book of Persuasion as is the case of Clueless (1995) with Emma, it is better to leave the distortions of reality to acid and satirical works like Fleabag. In this order of ideas, although the film is not what I expected, it is not all bad, besides, any adaptation of something by Jane Austen is always appreciated, I give it 2.5/5.

   La orientación que le dieron a la película para mí no tiene sentido, era preferible hacer una adaptación sería como Orgullo y Prejucio (2005) o una película de esta época basada en el libro de Persuasión como es el caso de Clueless (1995) con Emma, es mejor dejarle las distorsiones de realidad a obras ácidas y satírica como Fleabag. En este orden de ideas, a pesar de que la película no es lo que esperaba, no es del todo mala, además, siempre se agradece cualquier adaptación de algo de Jane Austen, le doy 2.5/5
