Hello all movie lovers! Like many, I grew up with Disney animated films and when the live action versions began to appear, I remember that the impression of seeing those stories being represented by real actors was too great. That's why, even though many of the films that came out were not as good or did not have the best effects, for us they were great, since we watched them with a certain enthusiasm, seeing the animations come true. More now in the present, when so many versions of the same animations have come out and our ability to surprise ourselves has changed, that almost "magical" feeling has been lost. But that doesn't mean that we can't enjoy every version they bring us of those classics that filled us with magic in our childhoods. In the case of Peter Pan, I remember that the first version I saw was the one starring the actor Robin Williams (Hook) and for years, that version was the most iconic, at least for me. Now, more recently in 2023, the adaptation called "Peter Pan and Wendy" came out, which I will tell you about today.
At the Darling house, the children are playing pirates, Wendy, who is preparing her suitcase to go to boarding school the next day, ends up daring to enter the game with her brothers. But after an incident, her father ends up scolding her for her attitude on her last night at home and the reminder that she is too old to be part of those games. Her mother tries to make her understand, asking her to be an example for her younger siblings. Wendy, however, remains upset, because she does not want things to change, she does not want to grow up and move away from that place where she was happy.
In the middle of the night, Wendy is woken up after crashing to the ground. Her brothers tell her that they had seen her floating and that the cause of it had been the creature they had captured, who turns out to be Tinkerbell. At that moment Peter Pan appears to her aid, confirming that what they have on their hands is a fairy. The boys can't believe it, because they had only heard of Peter Pan in stories. The boy, dressed in green, is happy to be part of the stories that mothers tell their children at bedtime, implying that it is an activity that he does very often. After recovering his shadow and having Wendy help him sew it to his foot, Peter tells her that he heard the girl's wish not to grow up and that is why he has come to take them to Neverland, a place where children never grow up. Marveled by the idea of the existence of that place, they let themselves be guided by Peter Pan and thanks to Tinker Bell's fairy dust, they fly until they reach a kind of wonderful world.
There, they not only meet the requested children but also the pirates, the most dangerous beings in Neverland, led by Captain Hook. In this way, Wendy and her brothers will find themselves involved in the conflict between Peter Pan and the captain, as well as realizing that they miss their homes, especially their mothers, the bond that no child wants to get rid of. In the same way, Wendy will begin to develop more responsibility and understand that the best way to act in the face of change is not to flee but to face it.

Like many, I also thought that another installment of Peter Pan was not necessary, since the previous ones were more than enough, not to mention that there are many other stories that, to date, have not been adapted in live action version . After watching it, I confirmed this fact, since despite the performances and inclusion, the film is not that great.
There aren't many aspects I consider "memorable" other than the insertion of girls among the lost boys (although the reason why that wasn't possible was known to have been explained in the Hook movie, although I'm not sure if this fact was part of the original written work), the reckless attitude of Tigrilla, who now shows herself as a young warrior who not only defends her tribe, but also helps Peter Pan and the other lost children. At first it seemed strange to me, because in the Disney animated version, Tigrilla seemed to be more of one of Peter Pan's romantic interests, but then, I quite liked her attitude, bringing to mind the image of Pocahontas . These slight inclusion changes, which bothered most fans, I overlooked because at the end of the day, they are nothing more than interpretations and, at least for me, they didn't bother me. I really liked the settings, since it is what can be most redeemable in this type of film where the plot falters. You may be getting bored and suddenly, you see a beautiful landscape that once again captures your attention. The same goes for the soundtrack. I also didn't quite like the plot twist where Captain Hook was really a lost boy who had gone to look for his mother, leaving behind his best friend Peter Pan and creating discord between them. I don't know... I didn't like that argument at all, it seemed quite bizarre to me and it didn't convince me. I couldn't say that it is a "bad movie", but in my opinion, it is quite forgettable because as I mentioned, it has very few aspects that make it stand out from the previous versions, so I would recommend it for a free afternoon in which there is nothing more to do with it, but without maintaining expectations in this regard.

¡Hola a todos los amantes de las películas! Como muchos, crecí con las películas animadas de Disney y cuando comenzaron a aparecer las versiones live action, recuerdo que la impresión por ver aquellas historias siendo representadas por actores reales, era demasiado grande. Por eso, a pesar de que muchas de los filmes que salieron, no eran tan buenos o no tenían los mejores efectos, para nosotros resultaban grandiosas, ya que los veíamos con cierta ilusión, al ver las animaciones hechas realidad. Más ahora en el presente, que han salido tantas versiones de las mismas animaciones y nuestra capacidad de sorprendernos ha cambiado, ese sentimiento casi "mágico" se ha perdido. Pero eso no significa que no podamos disfrutar de cada versión que nos traigan de aquellos clásicos que nos llenaron de magia en nuestras infancias. En el caso de Peter Pan, recuerdo que la primera versión que vi, fue aquella protagonizada por el actor Robin Williams (Hook) y durante años, esa versión fue la más icónica, al menos para mí. Ahora, más recientemente en éste 2023, salió la adaptación llamada "Peter Pan y Wendy", de la cual, les hablaré el día de hoy.
En la casa de los Darling, los niños se encuentran jugando a los piratas, Wendy, quién está preparando su maleta para irse al día siguiente al internado, termina animándose a entrar en el juego con sus hermanos. Pero luego de un incidente su padre acaba regañándola ante su actitud en su última noche en casa y el recordatorio de que ya es mayor para formar parte de esos juegos. Su madre, trata de hacerla entender, pidiéndole que sea un ejemplo para sus hermanos menores. Wendy sin embargo, permanece molesta, pues no desea que las cosas cambien, no desea crecer y alejarse de aquel lugar en donde fue feliz.
En medio de la noche, Wendy es despertada luego de caer estrepitosamente al suelo. Sus hermanos le cuentan que la habían visto flotar y que la causante, había sido la criatura que habían capturado, quién resulta ser Campanita. En ese momento aparece Peter Pan en su auxilio, confirmándoles que lo que tienen entre manos, se trata de un hada. Los chicos no pueden creerlo, pues sólo habían escuchado de Peter Pan en los cuentos. El chico, vestido de verde, se alegra de ser parte de los relatos que las madres cuentan a sus hijos a la hora de dormir, dando a entender que es una actividad que realiza muy a menudo. Luego de recuperar su sombra y de que Wendy le ayudase a coserla a su pie, Peter le comenta que escuchó el deseo de la chica de no crecer y que por eso, ha venido a llevárselos al País de nunca jamás, un lugar en donde los niños nunca crecen. Maravillados por la idea de la existencia de aquel sitio, se dejan guiar por Peter Pan y gracias al polvo de hadas de Campanita, vuelan hasta llegar hasta a una especie de mundo maravilloso.
Allí, no sólo conocen a los niños pedidos sino también a los piratas, los seres más peligrosos del País de nunca Jamás, liderados por el Capitán Garfio. De éste modo, Wendy y sus hermanos se verán envueltos en el conflicto existente entre Peter Pan y el capitán, así como dándose cuenta de que extrañan a sus hogares, sobre todo a sus madres, el vínculo que ningún niño desea deshacerse. Del mismo modo, Wendy comenzara a desarrollar más responsabilidad y a comprender que la mejor forma de actuar ante el cambio, no es huir sino enfrentarse a el mismo.

Al igual que muchos, también pensé en que no era necesaria una entrega más de Peter Pan, ya que con las anteriores se tenía más que suficiente, sin mencionar que hay muchas otras historias que hasta la fecha, no han sido adaptadas en versión live action. Luego de verla, corroboré éste hecho, ya que a pesar de las actuaciones y la inclusión, la película no es la gran cosa.
No hay muchos aspectos que considere "memorables" más que la inserción de chicas entre los niños perdidos (aunque se sabía que la razón del porqué eso no era posible, se había explicado en la película de Hook, aunque no estoy segura de si éste hecho formaba parte de la obra original escrita), la actitud temeraria de Tigrilla, quién ahora se muestra como una joven guerrera que no sólo defiende a su tribu, sino que ayuda a Peter Pan y a los demás niños perdidos. Al principio si me pareció extraño, porque en la versión animada de Disney, Tigrilla parecía ser más bien uno de los intereses románticos de Peter Pan, pero luego, me agradó bastante su actitud, trayéndome a la memoria la imagen de Pocahontas. Estos ligeros cambios de inclusión, que molestaron a la mayoría de los fanáticos, los pasé por alto porque al fin y al cabo, no son más que interpretaciones y al menos a mí, no me incomodó.
Me gustaron mucho los escenarios, siendo que es lo que puede ser más rescatable en éste tipo de películas en donde la trama flaquea. Puedes estar aburriéndote y de ponto, ves un paisaje hermoso que de nuevo, capta tu atención. Lo mismo ocurre con la banda sonora.
Tampoco me agradó del todo el giro argumental en donde el capitán Garfio, era realmente un niño perdido que se había ido para buscar a su madre, dejando atrás a su mejor amigo Peter Pan y creando la discordia entre ellos. No sé... no me agradó del todo ese argumento, me pareció bastante bizarro y no terminó de convencerme.
No podría decir que es una "mala película", pero a mi parecer, si es bastante olvidable porque como mencioné, tiene muy pocos aspectos que la hagan resaltar de las versiones anteriores, por lo que la recomendaría para una tarde libre en la que no se tenga más nada que ver, pero sin mantener expectativas al respecto.
