  1. Film and TV Friday: Not Talking About Roseanne@didic3008d

Look, this was a weak news week when it comes to tv and movies, and aside from gossip - which is not my beat - there's basically nothing out there. Except the Roseanne revival and its bonkers rating. And y'know what? I don't want to talk about it, and this is my post. This is Film & TV Friday, and we're skipping the news..

Wide Release Films Opening This Weekend:

    Film # of Theaters
    A Quiet Place 3,508
    Blockers 3,379
    The Miracle Season 1,707
    Chappaquiddick 1,560
    Source: BoxOfficeMojo
This weekend's two biggest releases are a raunchy comedy and a horror film. Which, sure. Those are things that happen. Here's the odd thing: Both are, like, really well reviewed? Blockers is at 82% on Rottentomatoes, and A Quiet Place, written and directed by Jim from The Office, is at an astounding 97%. Up is down, black is white. The apocalypse will probably commence any minute now.

Killing Eve 1 Mini Series BBC America Sunday 8PM EST
Howard's End Mini Series US Starz Sunday 9PM EST
New Girl 9 US Fox Tuesday 9:30PM EST
In Contempt 1 US BET Tuesday 10PM EST

I care about Trading Spaces coming back mostly because it could presage the return of Changing Rooms, the original house renovation show. Killing Eve looks like it may be good, and I'm hearing mixed things about Lost In Space. The big one, for a nerd like me, should be The Expanse, but I have not yet gotten into it. I know. I know.

    Trailers

Interesting bunch this week. Let's take a look.

How To Talk To Girls At Parties

So this is based on the Neil Gaiman story of the same name, but is obviously much expanded. It is directed by John Cameron Mitchell, best known for Hedwig And The Angry Inch, and a close friend of Neil and his wife, Amanda Palmer. It looks trippy and awesome and I am here for it.

    Night School

It's probably going to be funny.

    Upgrade (Red Band trailer)

This... could be intriguing? But is probably bad.

    Johnny English Strikes Again

    Oh, no.

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote

Huh. So this is actually happening? A movie so cursed, it was thought its legacy would be the [excellent documentary film about how cursed it is](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0308514/) is actually coming to screens.

    Fahrenheit 451

Well, dang. That looks like it could be quite good! The leads are certainly well cast!
