Yo generalmente no veo películas y es por eso que tiendo a perderme un poco de esta comunidad, ya que últimamente he estado viendo mis series viejas de las que les he hablado un montón de veces. Pero, hace una semana aproximadamente me reuní con unos amigos y me obligaron literalmente a ver una película de suspenso. Y algo muy importante de destacar es que a mí no me gustan las películas de terror ni suspenso, ya que me dan muchísimo miedo. Pero como la puedo ver completa y no sentí miedo, no sé si eso significa que la película sea mala o si la verdad madure emocionalmente. Así que les quiero hablar en esta oportunidad de la película: no confíes en extraños.
I generally don't watch movies and that's why I tend to miss out on this community a bit, as lately I've been watching my old series that I've told you about a bunch of times. But, a week or so ago I got together with some friends and they literally forced me to watch a thriller. And something very important to point out is that I don't like horror or suspense movies, as they scare the hell out of me. But since I can watch it all the way through and I didn't feel scared, I don't know if that means the movie is bad or if I really matured emotionally. So I want to talk to you this time about the movie: Don't Trust Strangers.
Esta película comienza con la historia de un matrimonio estadounidense, Louise y Ben, que tiene una hija de 12 años llamada Agnes que tiene problemas de ansiedad. Este matrimonio está como de viaje en algún lugar de Europa, donde conocen a varias personas y ahí hacen amistad con una pareja, Paddy y Ciara, que también tiene un hijo pequeño, Ant, pero que no habla muy bien por problemas en su lengua. En algún punto la pareja extraña los invita a su casa, la cual es como en un pueblo bastante alejado. El chiste es que Louise y Ben no quieren ir porque les da miedo, son como muy temblorosos en la vida hasta que bueno, el hombre comienza a su mujer para ir y pasar un rato con otras personas a abrirse al mundo y de todo un poco pues. Al llegar a la locación, era como en un bosque, tenía muchísimas montañas alrededor, era como un pueblo con casas muy distantes, las unas de las otras. Y aunque desde la primera todo se veía bastante raro, pero cálido, ellos decidieron quedarse y convivir con el otro matrimonio.
This movie starts with the story of an American couple, Louise and Ben, who have a 12 year old daughter named Agnes who has anxiety problems. This couple is kind of traveling somewhere in Europe, where they meet several people and there they make friends with a couple, Paddy and Ciara, who also have a young son, Ant, but who does not speak very well because of language problems. At some point the strange couple invites them to their home, which is like in a pretty remote village. The joke is that Louise and Ben don't want to go because they are scared, they are like very shaky in life until well, the man starts his wife to go and spend some time with other people to open up to the world and a little bit of everything. When we arrived at the location, it was like in a forest, it had a lot of mountains around it, it was like a town with houses very far away from each other. And although from the first one everything looked quite strange, but warm, they decided to stay and live with the other couple.
La película avanza y no pasa nada realmente interesante, más allá de algunas Reds Flags que se pueden notar en ambos matrimonios, de hecho, uno porque es demasiado raro y el otro porque tiene problemas como de infidelidad. Hasta el punto en donde Louise va a buscar a la niña y se da cuenta de que no está donde debe estar durmiendo y la encuentra en la cama de Paddy y Ciara, junto con Ben también, todos se ponen un poco locos y deciden irse. Pero y aquí es donde viene el momento cumbre en esta película. La niña tiene ansiedad social, les da ataques y había dejado su peluche, el cual es como su momento de confort y decide devolverse para poder buscar el peluche.
The movie progresses and nothing really interesting happens, beyond some Reds Flags that can be noticed in both marriages, in fact, one because it is too weird and the other because it has problems like infidelity. Up to the point where Louise goes looking for the girl and realizes she's not where she's supposed to be sleeping and finds her in Paddy and Ciara's bed, along with Ben too, they all get a little crazy and decide to leave. But and this is where the crowning moment in this movie comes. The girl has social anxiety, gives them fits and had left her stuffed animal, which is like her moment of comfort and decides to go back so she can look for the stuffed animal.
Evidentemente, todo va a poner ponerse más turbio, ya que se dan cuenta de que se habían ido, empiezan a tratar de manejar la situación y ya nadie confía en nadie. Desde el primer momento que conocemos al niño, nos damos cuenta de que sabe cosas, así que cuando tiene la oportunidad, le muestra a la niña algunos secretos ocultos en esa casa y ella, a su vez, se lo muestra a su mamá y comienza la misión para poder escapar con vida de esa casa. Hasta aquí les cuento todo, no les voy a dar spoilers de la película, no les voy a decir cómo termina porque sería arruinarla, pero esto es como llega el momento cumbre, también pasa muchísimas cosas para que ese momento cumbre pase y hay muchos detalles, muchas banderas rojas y también bastante suspenso.
Evidently, everything is going to get murkier as they realize they were gone, they start trying to deal with the situation and no one trusts anyone anymore. From the first moment we meet the boy, we realize that he knows things, so when he has the opportunity, he shows the girl some secrets hidden in that house and she, in turn, shows it to her mother and begins the mission to escape alive from that house. So far I tell you everything, I am not going to give you spoilers of the movie, I am not going to tell you how it ends because it would be ruining it, but this is how the climax comes, also a lot of things happen for that climax to happen and there are many details, many red flags and also quite suspenseful.
Ahora les contaré cómo me apareció a mí esta película, comenzando porque no empaté con ninguno de los personajes. Creo que mi mayor empatía va con el niño y quizás un poco con la niña, pero no demasiado la verdad. Al principio, es un poco lenta y sientes que no estás entendiendo nada de por qué están sucediendo las cosas hasta que pasa el momento cumbre y dices "OK ya aquí está todo muy claro". Por otro lado, los sucesos que ocurren después de que a todo saber la verdad son bastante escalofriantes, pero nada del otro mundo, creo que eso es más que todo porque no es nada paranormal, son humanos peleando con otros humanos y es por eso que no me dio miedo esta película, o eso quiero pensar.
Now I'll tell you how this movie appeared to me, starting because I didn't empathize with any of the characters. I think my biggest empathy goes to the boy and maybe a little bit to the girl, but not too much really. At the beginning, it's a bit slow and you feel like you're not understanding anything about why things are happening until the climax happens and you say “OK it's all very clear here already”. On the other hand, the events that happen after you all know the truth are pretty creepy, but nothing out of this world, I think that's mostly because it's nothing paranormal, it's humans fighting other humans and that's why I didn't find this movie scary, or so I want to think.
El final de esta película me pareció muy acorde siento que me pareció genial y me dio intriga la verdad porque obviamente el niño fue el más afectado de todos y es un personaje que tiene que ser algo muy importante al final como deliberación y me entrega muchísimo que sería de él si continuará una vida normal, o medio normal en lo que cabe. Por otro lado, el mejor personaje de esta película fue la mujer, aunque al principio era la más desesperante, y el peor personaje sin duda alguna fue su esposo porque fue un hombre total y completamente inservible. No sé si volvería a ver esta película, probablemente no, pero la verdad sí puedo recomendarla porque te distrae y te mantiene entretenido después de la mitad. Así que yo le daría una sólida 3.5 de 5 estrellas, espero que les haya encantado conocer mis opiniones al respecto, nos leemos pronto!
The ending of this movie seemed to me to be very appropriate, I feel that I thought it was great and it gave me intrigue because obviously the boy was the most affected of all and he is a character that has to be something very important at the end as a deliberation and it gives me a lot of what would become of him if he will continue a normal life, or half normal as far as it goes. On the other hand, the best character in this movie was the woman, although at the beginning she was the most hopeless, and the worst character without a doubt was her husband because he was a totally and completely useless man. I don't know if I would watch this movie again, probably not, but I can actually recommend it because it distracts you and keeps you entertained after halfway through. So I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of five stars, I hope you loved hearing my thoughts on it, see you soon
