Written by playwright Dennis McIntyre, the film was produced by Ned Dowd, Randy Ostrow, and Ron Rotholz, with a musical score by Ennio Morricone.

Timing is everything. When you have ambitious gangster epic, it is not wise to have it released in cinemas exactly at the same time as someone else’s ambitious gangster epic. There are really no such movies out there that are similar to this one, the new movies don't have that magic in them to make the viewers excited, luckily this movie does. State of Grace (1990). One of the older crime movies with a great cast: Sean Penn, Ed Haris, Gary Oldman (fantastically played), John Turturro, Robin Right Penn (as you may see in this movie, Penn met his future wife).
