Hola, amigos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv. Espero que se encuentren muy bien y estén pasando un excelente fin de semana ✨. Hace unos días estuve buscando algo que ver en la televisión con mi hermana y mirando su watchlist de Letterboxd, nos encontramos con la película Submarine. Está película es algo antigua, tiene más de una década desde que salió y tiene muy buenas reseñas por lo que decidimos verla además de interesarnos la playlist compuesta por Alex Turner vocalista de la banda Arctic Monkeys, una de las bandas favoritas de mi hermana así que sin pensarlo tanto la vimos y nos gustó. A few days ago I was looking for something to watch on TV with my sister and looking at her Letterboxd watchlist, we came across the movie Submarine. This movie is kind of old, it has more than a decade since it came out and it has very good reviews so we decided to watch it besides being interested in the playlist composed by Alex Turner vocalist of the band Arctic Monkeys, one of my sister's favorite bands so without thinking so much we watched it and we liked it. Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) es un joven adolescente de quince años quien vive con sus padres, una pareja bastante unida aunque con muchos problemas de comunicación y con una crisis matrimonial que pone a Oliver entre la espada y la pared. Mientras que Oliver intenta salvar la relación de sus padres también le toca convivir con los problemas en la escuela siendo blanco de bullying por parte de algunos compañeros de clase, aunque intenta pasar desapercibido no puede evitar fijarse en una joven llamada Jordana, que desde el primer momento en que la vió sintió una atracción hacia ella.

Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) is a fifteen year old teenager who lives with his parents, a couple quite close but with many communication problems and a marital crisis that puts Oliver between a rock and a hard place. While Oliver tries to save the relationship of his parents also has to live with the problems at school being the target of bullying by some classmates, although he tries to go unnoticed can not help but notice a girl named Jordana, who from the first moment he saw her felt an attraction to her.

La historia de Oliver es acerca de un joven pasando por la crisis de la edad en la que se encuentra y todos los problemas que empieza a tener al sentirse como un bicho raro, además de que tiene mucho temor a que sus padres decidan divorciarse. Es comprensible su miedo, muchos hemos vivido la separación de nuestros padres y es algo que de alguna forma marca un antes y un después y para alguien tan joven y siendo hijo único es mucho más grande el temor a los cambios y a un posible rompimiento de lo que es su familia.

Oliver's story is about a young man going through an age crisis and all the problems he is starting to have feeling like a freak, plus he is very afraid that his parents will decide to divorce. His fear is understandable, many of us have experienced the separation of our parents and it is something that somehow marks a before and after and for someone so young and being an only child is much greater the fear of change and a possible breakup of what is his family.

El personaje de Oliver es muy intenso con sus emociones, también es bastante torpe y a la vez es muy curioso -demasiado diría yo- mientras sigue a su madre que aparenta tener una aventura con un amor del pasado. Esto hace que la historia se sienta en parte algo cómica, ya que ver cómo Oliver busca y le da consejos a su padre como si el fuera el adulto, muestra que es alguien sumamente sensible y que también merecía tener un poco de comprensión y de un amigo con el que pudiera contar para desahogarse.

Oliver's character is very intense with his emotions, he is also quite awkward and at the same time he is very curious -too much I would say- as he follows his mother who appears to be having an affair with a past love. This makes the story feel somewhat comical in part, as seeing how Oliver seeks and gives advice to his father as if he were the adult, shows that he is someone who is extremely sensitive and also deserved to have some understanding and a friend he could count on to vent to.

Luego con la llegada de Jordana todo se vuelve un caos -ella misma es el caos- y no es para menos cuando siente que es la primera vez que se enamora de una chica de verdad, con todo lo que implica tener una relación con alguien que es totalmente diferente a él, ella es extrovertida y tiene una mentalidad más liberal, siempre busca la manera de divertirse aunque sea a costa de disfrutar de cómo molestan a otras personas, pero más allá de eso, ella también tiene problemas personales y lucha con la enfermedad que padece su madre.

El romance se da de una forma un tanto rara, pero empiezan a conocerse y por una u otra razón se entienden mutuamente aunque son dos polos opuestos, está relación es cómo un carrusel, tiene sus subidas y bajadas, pero de alguna manera tanto Oliver como Jordana se dan el apoyo que tanto necesitan en ese momento y estar el uno para el otro hace que se sientan aún más seguros de que pueden tener una relación aunque ambos sean extraños en diferentes sentidos, está relación se muestra tan infantil e incluso tonta en muchos instantes y se siente como una historia de romance adolescente más pero aunque no es de las mejores películas tiene sus cosas a favor.

The romance happens in a weird way, but they start to know each other and for one reason or another they understand each other even though they are two polar opposites, this relationship is like a merry-go-round, it has its ups and downs, but somehow both Oliver and Jordana give each other the support they need so much at that moment and being there for each other makes them feel even more confident that they can have a relationship even though they are both strangers in different ways, this relationship is so childish and even silly in many moments and it feels like just another teenage romance story but even though it is not one of the best movies it has its things going for it.

Me gustó mucho que dieran la imagen de un adolescente real, con problemas típicos de la edad y que además se encuentre descubriéndose a si mismo y las cosas que le gustan, es bonito poder ver la historia de Jordana y Oliver como dos jóvenes que solo viven el día a día y disfrutan de sus rarezas sin importar lo que pueda pasar. También el soundtrack se conecta con la increíble voz de Alex Turner mientras transcurren escenas de Oliver con Jordana y eso hace que todo sea más especial y pienso que esas escenas junto a la música fueron de las cosas que más me gustaron de la película.

I really liked that they gave the image of a real teenager, with typical problems of the age and also he is discovering himself and the things he likes, it's nice to see the story of Jordana and Oliver as two young people who just live day by day and enjoy their quirks no matter what may happen. Also the soundtrack connects with the amazing voice of Alex Turner while scenes of Oliver with Jordana are happening and that makes everything more special and I think those scenes along with the music were some of the things I liked the most about the movie.

Disfrute de la historia y de las escenas que fueron grabadas cómo con una cámara digital, le dió ese toque antiguo y también se sintió la historia mucho más personal, pero no es de mis películas favoritas, probablemente si la hubiera visto más joven me hubiera gustado más, pero más allá de eso puedo decir que es una historia que muestra todos los matices de ser adolescente y los cambios que se viven con la edad, además de la crisis de los padres de Oliver quien teme por el rompimiento de su hogar, es algo que veo cómo muy importante sobre todo a esa edad y puedo entender algunas de las reacciones de Oliver aunque en ciertas escenas sentí que estaba siendo demasiado exagerado pero supongo que es parte de la misma inmadurez que conlleva la edad. Si tienen la oportunidad y les gustan las historias de adolescentes o que incluyan una buena playlist tal vez está película les pueda gustar. ❤️

I enjoyed the story and the scenes that were filmed like with a digital camera, it gave it that vintage touch and also the story felt much more personal, but it's not one of my favorite movies, probably if I had seen it younger I would have liked it more, but beyond that I can say it's a story that shows all the nuances of being a teenager and the changes that come with age, besides the crisis of Oliver's parents who fears the breakup of their home, is something that I see as very important especially at that age and I can understand some of Oliver's reactions although in certain scenes I felt he was being too exaggerated but I guess it's part of the same immaturity that comes with age. If you have the opportunity and you like teenage stories or include a good playlist maybe you might like this movie. ❤️

Las comedias románticas se mantienen como uno de mis géneros favoritos para pasar el rato, y ya les he comentado lo mucho que me ha costado encontrar producciones actuales que me gusten o me resulten entretenidas, lamentablemente es porque parece que se quedaron sin ideas y con tantos temas qué abordar terminan utilizando la misma narrativa o secuencia de las 184927482que ya han sacado pero sin éxito. Por suerte, mi hermana logró acertar con su recomendación.

Esta historia se divide en tres partes, la primera con Oliver cuando empiece a entablar amistad con Jordana, deciden hacerse novios y vemos varias escenas de esta relación. En la segunda Oliver intenta que sus padres (ambos deprimidos), logren reavivar la relación, empieza a crear oportunidades para ambos y también evitar ciertas situaciones. Y, en la tercera vemos los resultados y consecuencias de las dos primeras.

Puedo decir que esta producción es bastante peculiar, pero no de mala manera, ya que me hizo reír bastante, y algo que me atrajo fue el ambiente, la fotografía, los colores y la iluminación utilizada. Además de mencionar las buenas actuaciones por parte de todo el elenco.

Abordan las situaciones dramáticas de una manera caricaturesca, y logran mantenerte entretenido durante estos momentos, esto a pesar de que sus padres están viviendo una crisis y es demasiado notable que su padre está deprimido y su madre también debido a la ausencia de este para hacer cosas diferentes o incluso estar juntos.

A pesar de que Jordana me caía mal en el principio porque parecía psicópata 😂😂, me gustó el desarrollo de su personaje al igual que el de Oliver, que era bastante ingenuo pero muy inteligente y de buen corazón. Lo único que tal vez no me gustó fue el hecho de que incluyeran (no gráficamente pero lo dejaron sobreentendido), que estuvieron juntos sexualmente siendo tan jóvenes, y la escena de su madre “intimando” con su primer amor.

Even though I disliked Jordana in the beginning because she seemed psycho 😂😂, I liked the development of her character as well as Oliver, who was quite naive but very intelligent and kind-hearted. The only thing I maybe didn't like was the fact that they included (not graphically but left it implied), that they were together sexually being so young, and the scene of his mother being "intimate" with his first love.

Del resto siento que fue una producción bonita, sencilla, y divertida, lo que la hace ideal para pasar rato, y es un ejemplo de que a pesar de utilizar la misma estructura de muchas del género, logran hacerlo bien y que cumpla con el propósito de ser graciosas y con ese toque de romance. ¿Qué opinan ustedes?

Hola hive, hoy les vengo a hablar sobre una película que descubrí hace mucho tiempo pero que por diversas razones no había tenido la oportunidad de verla, pero hace unos días vino a mi mente y pensé “es hora de echarle un vistazo”, así que la busqué y por fin decidí verla, por esta razón es que hoy les vengo a traer mi reseña sobre Submarine

Submarine es una película dramática con tintes de romance y comedia lanzada en el 2010, dirigida por Richard Ayoade y protagonizada por Craig Roberts. Esta película nos muestra a Oliver, un adolescente con una vida un poco complicada que busca tener una Historia de romance mientras a su vez intenta evitar el divorcio de sus padres. Dicha historia está basada en un libro homónimo lanzado en el 2008, pero sin más que decir ahora si comencemos!

Cabe destacar que mi primer acercamiento a esta película fue el soundtrack y es que desde hace mucho tiempo sigo la carrera de Arctic Monkeys, asi Que cuando descubrí Alex Turner había sido el encargado de realizar el soundtrack de esta película mi interés aumentó bastante, entonces si conocía de la existencia de “Submarine” desde hace muchos años, pero nunca me había dado el chance de verla, hasta hoy.

Primero siempre me gusta empezar hablando de lo que más me encanto de la película y es el cómo desarrollan la historia, me gusta mucho como la dividen en partes marcando así el objetivo de cada grupo de secuencia y agregándole una estructura bastante original que a mi en lo particular me gusto, además como hay dos problemáticas principales podemos ir saltando entre una y otra sin problema, sumando además pequeños flashbacks que le dan un excelente ritmo.

Toda la parte del ritmo y desarrollo de la película también va muy de la mano con otro aspecto que me pareció genial y es la dirección, en estas películas en particular la dirección y la historia lo son todo, y ambas tienen que interactuar para apoyarse entre sí y darle dinamismo a la película, eso es exactamente lo que sucede en Submarine, ya que para que cada escena tenga el peso que se merece debe estar acompañada de buenos planes que enfaticen los sentimientos de nuestro protagonista.

Otra cosa que me llamo mucho la atención es cómo logran hacer que nos pongamos en el rol de Oliver, más que todo porque cada momento de la película es mostrado y narrado desde las perspectivas de nuestro protagonista, por eso hay momentos donde se siente alguna fantasía, sueños u otras cosas que no dejan en claro que aunque sea la realidad la estamos viendo desde los ojos de Oliver Tate.

La forma en que Submarine representa los problemas adolescentes es muy directa, cruda pero rozando fuertemente en lo real, el como intenta sobrellevar cada momento y se esfuerza en solucionarlo todo pero mucha veces en vez de mejorar termina empeorando la situación entrando en desesperación y frustración.

Esta película funciona a la perfección debido a que nos muestra una época de nuestra vida donde estamos cargados de sentimientos que mucha veces no sabemos manifestar y hasta ocultamos para no ser visto vulnerables, pero parte decrecer tanto literal como figurativamente es aprender a controlar dichas emocionas y compartirlas con las personas correctas.

Admito que es una película que puede llegar a ser un poco densa y que cuesta agarrarle el hilo y es que no es una película de acción o donde suceden cosas impactaste Sino que al contrario, la Magia está en cada uno de los diálogos y los pequeños detalles, el como van uniendo pequeños aspectos para ir formando el arco de nuestro protagonista.

Siento que submarine juega mucho con la ambigüedad para así lograr que nos identifiquemos mucho más y es que cada persona puede tener diversas opinión sobre situaciones específicas pero es ahí el encanto.

Y obviamente no podía terminar sin hablar del soundtrack que le da una estética característica a la película, le da una identidad sonora que es clave, yo había escuchado el EP de esta película varías veces y ahora poderlo hacer en conjunto con la película fue simplemente perfecto.

En conclusión me parece una gran película con unos mensajes bastante interesantes que nos pueden poner en modo reflexivo, además de que la trama es llamativa y el ritmo narrativo complementa perfectamente. Tal vez no sea una película para todo el mundo pero si te llamo la atención deberías echarle un vistazo porque tiene cosas bastante destacables.

Submarine is a dramatic film with tinges of romance and comedy released in 2010, directed by Richard Ayoade and starring Craig Roberts. This movie shows us Oliver, a teenager with a complicated life that seeks to have a romance story while at the same time trying to avoid the divorce of his parents. The story is based on a book of the same name released in 2008, but without further ado, let's get started!

It is worth mentioning that my first approach to this movie was the soundtrack and I have been following the career of Arctic Monkeys for a long time, so when I discovered that Alex Turner had been in charge of the soundtrack of this movie my interest increased a lot, so I knew about the existence of "Submarine" for many years, but I had never given me the chance to see it, until today.

First I always like to start talking about what I love the most about the film and that is how they develop the story, I really like how they divide it into parts marking the objective of each group of sequences and adding a very original structure that I particularly liked, also as there are two main problems we can jump between one and the other without problem, also adding small flashbacks that give it an excellent rhythm.

The whole part of the rhythm and development of the film also goes hand in hand with another aspect that I thought was great and that is the direction, in these films in particular the direction and the story are everything, and both have to interact to support each other and give dynamism to the film, that's exactly what happens in Submarine, because for each scene to have the weight it deserves it must be accompanied by good plans that emphasize the feelings of our protagonist.

Another thing that caught my attention is how they manage to make us put ourselves in Oliver's role, mostly because every moment of the film is shown and narrated from the perspectives of our protagonist, so there are moments where you feel some fantasy, dreams or other things that do not make it clear that although it is reality we are seeing it from the eyes of Oliver Tate.

The way in which Submarine represents teenage problems is very direct, raw but strongly touching on the real, how he tries to cope every moment and strives to solve everything but often instead of improving ends up worsening the situation entering into despair and frustration.

This movie works perfectly because it shows us a time in our lives where we are full of feelings that we often do not know how to express and even hide to not be seen vulnerable, but part of growing up both literally and figuratively is to learn to control these emotions and share them with the right people.

I admit that it is a film that can be a bit dense and hard to grasp the thread and it is not an action movie or where things happen shockingly, but on the contrary, the magic is in each of the dialogues and the small details, how they are joining small aspects to form the arc of our protagonist.

I feel that submarine plays a lot with ambiguity in order to make us identify ourselves much more and each person can have different opinions about specific situations, but that's the charm.

And obviously I could not finish without talking about the soundtrack that gives a characteristic aesthetic to the film, gives it a sound identity that is key, I had heard the EP of this film several times and now to be able to do it together with the film was just perfect.

In conclusion I think it is a great film with some interesting messages that can put us in reflective mode, plus the plot is striking and the narrative rhythm complements perfectly. It may not be a movie for everyone but if it caught your attention you should take a look at it because it has some pretty remarkable things.
