It is very obvious that most of Hollywood is left wing and they did everything they could to prevent Trump from getting to the White House again. This movie was meant to hurt Trump, but unfortunately for them, I think it has had the opposite effect and after watching it, maybe even those who dislike him will empathize with him.
The screenwriter for the film is Gabriel Sherman, who a few years ago wrote a miniseries about another powerful right-winger, the predatory Roger Ailes. I wrote about this miniseries some time ago and gave my opinion. He is a screenwriter clearly biased by his political ideology. To direct the film, they sought a non-American filmmaker. Iranian Ali Abassi, whose film Holy Spider fascinated me. He is a great filmmaker. They were right to choose him. He comes from an Islamic country and he is probably closer to the ideas of the pro-green Hollywood.
The Apprentice narrates the friendship and business relationship that Trump had during his youth with the famous lawyer Roy Cohn. The ruthless Cohn would become a mentor to the young businessman with big, ambitious ideas. He would help him solve problems and influence him with his way of doing things. Cohn was a figure in America, detested by many. If you want to know more about this lawyer, I recommend an HBO documentary I reviewed a couple of years ago entitled: Tyrant. Coward. Victim. It is clear that the main goal of the film is to put a dent in the Trump figure. From the promotional trailer they do a text insert that claims to be the birth of a supervillain. I get a chuckle out of the whole thing. They insist on painting the figure of the current president as the most evil being in the world. Good thing a majority of the American people got tired of such progre nonsense.

Me entra la risa con todo eso. Se empeñan en pintar la figura del actual presidente como el ser mas malvado del mundo. Menos mal que una mayoría del pueblo americano se cansó de tanta tontería progre.
The tactics and principles Cohn allegedly taught Trump are the same ones applied by anyone with a desire to get to the top of their field. Whether it's a politician, a lawyer, a businessman. Here they want to make it look like that is bad, when they themselves, the leftists, apply the same in everything they do. Only it is bad when they are not on their side.
To be ruthless, to seek to win, to triumph, to attack enemies and always sell everything in an exaggerated way. Not settling for little, aiming for more and achieving goals. That's really the American dream that is so often told. But when it's Trump who achieves it, it's bad. When it's Obama doing it, it's good. I wish a lot of agents would realize how Manichean Hollywood is on these issues. It doesn't matter if you're for or against the current president. What it's all about here is the boring manipulation, bombarding with messages that this person is bad, just because he believes in ideas contrary to his own.
Sebastian Stan's performance is excellent. I love this actor for taking risky roles. He studied the real character and had to learn gestures, way of speaking, tone of voice. Excellent work of which he himself, in different interviews, has said that he feels that his Hollywood colleagues have turned their backs on him. I recently read an article where the actor said that privately they have given him support, but publicly they are silent, and now that Trump won the presidency they don't want to praise the film.
Jeremy Strong with Roy Cohn is also fantastic. It's a film with two interesting actors and characters. The early eighties setting is also compelling. Both actors deserve an award. They have been nominated, but at the Golden Globes they walked away with zero. It's hard, with the political outcome, for the film to receive more promotion. I recommend it, it is entertaining and a pleasure to watch the performances of the actors.

Las tácticas y los principios que Cohn supuestamente enseñó a Trump son los mismos que aplica cualquier persona con el deseo de llegar a la cima de su campo. Ya sea un político, un abogado, un empresario. Aquí quieren hacer ver que eso es malo, cuando ellos mismos, los izquierdistas, aplican lo mismo en todo lo que hacen. Sólo que es malo cuando no están de su lado.
Ser despiadados, buscar ganar, triunfar, atacar a los enemigos y siempre vender todo de forma exagerada. No conformarse con poco, aspirar a más y alcanzar las metas. Ese es realmente el sueño americano que tanto se cuenta. Pero cuando es Trump quien lo consigue, es malo. Cuando lo hace Obama, es bueno. Ojalá muchos agentes se den cuenta del maniqueísmo de Hollywood con estos temas. Da igual si se está a favor o en contra del actual presidente. Aquí de lo que se trata es de la aburrida manipulación, bombardeando con mensajes de que esa persona es mala, sólo porque cree en ideas contrarias a las suyas.
La actuación de Sebastian Stan es excelente. Me encanta este actor por aceptar papeles arriesgados. Estudió al personaje real y tuvo que aprender gestos, forma de hablar, tono de voz. Excelente trabajo del que él mismo, en diferentes entrevistas, ha dicho que siente que sus colegas de Hollywood le han dado la espalda. Hace poco leí un artículo donde el actor decía que en privado le han dado apoyo, pero públicamente callan, y ahora que ganó Trump la presidencia no quieren alabar la película.
Jeremy Strong con Roy Cohn también es fantástico. Es una película con dos actores y personajes interesantes. La ambientación de principios de los ochenta también es convincente. Ambos actores merecen un premio. Han estado nominados, pero en los Globos de Oro se fueron con cero. Es difícil, con el resultado político, que la película reciba más promoción. La recomiendo, es entretenida y un placer ver las interpretaciones de los actores.
