   Recently, I have had a lot of nerves in my private life, I have also reacted to changes in weather, pressure differences etc. Therefore, I decided to take the opportunity that my girlfriend went away for a week to relax. I started watching new anime (one new, one old rewatch), read a large part of volume 1 of "Altered Carbon" and watched 2 horror movies. "Freddy vs Jason", which is total, safely made garbage, which did not give me any satisfaction (I am not excited by bloody and pretty murders, but I appreciate them when they are in a well-made film) - they used a well-known brand, treated its fans like suckers and squeezed the money out of them. The second is the opposite - it's a cheap and intimate movie that cost $ 2 million, which is pathetically ridiculously little. Not only that, it was the director's debut (which I learned about after the screening, if someone wrote me during the course of her debut production, I wouldn't believe it in my life, it was too good!). It had an atmosphere, an interesting script, an important moral, very good actors (or experienced but well-led by the director). As far as artistic values ​​are concerned, there is nothing to expect from a stupid slasher ... Although in the case of the plot and actors it is not worth it either, although the first part of the remake of "Halloween" shows that it is different. So, going back, there's nothing to expect from an entertainment movie to be ambitious, but this one was just fucking none - it wasn't good either as brainless entertainment, action movie, or anything else. Unlike "The Babadook" which took me by surprise.

   The plot of this movie is very simple and at the same time very metaphorical, so I won't be writing about it for too long. I know, I repeat that slogan a lot, but this is another case where it's better not to know much about it. Discovering this puzzle and its nuances by yourself is much more fun than watching with the awareness of what may more or less happen. Especially when it is only at the end of the film that we find out what is really going on. Throughout most of the movie, we see different signals that give us seemingly contradictory information, but at the end of the screening, we get a "beautiful" payoff explaining the whole mystery. You will find lots of references to how a person feels after losing a loved one or when the foundations of his life are falling apart. Many of them are small gestures, emotional or bodily reactions, if you are familiar with psychology or have experienced such situations yourself, you will surely find familiar things. "The Babadook" tells the story of a woman who is raising her son alone after her husband's death. Throughout the film, we can see how much it devastates the family - the child becomes louder and cheeky, strives for the attention of a tired mother who is less and less powerful day by day. It's been a long time since I saw a picture that shows it so well through the actors, we literally see the mother crumble, getting closer and closer to a nervous breakdown every day, in which she finds that she is fucking all this and only wants to end her life, and before that of her child. Both mentally and bodily, her character breaks into pieces, it becomes more and more difficult to stop her hysteria, and her body deteriorates day by day - her skin turns pale, her hair turns gray, grows old, she has less and less strength and more and more frustration.

   The director or director himself would not have been able to do this without the right actors, regardless of his talent for exploiting strengths and "positioning" actors. The lead actors are not very well known, but as I wrote in several different texts on several different examples, the world has a lot of great actors, comics, games, etc. who, for various reasons, could not break through. Sometimes because of bad luck, sometimes because they wasted their chance because nobody known noticed them or put in any other reason. The son perfectly showed the annoying, over-pampering or getting too little attention of a young man. I am usually irritated by such characters, but this time I felt a surprising empathy and understanding towards him. He was so "natural" and his flashy demeanor was not fake, as is the case in some productions. Just as he ran away from fear - he was acting literally in a textbook manner. As for his mother, as I said, the director perfectly showed us her decaying character and increasingly neglected body. Mom changes throughout the movie, new wrinkles appear, other symptoms appear, and her initial repression effect and illusory belief that "somehow it will be" turns into growing frustration and reconciliation with her own shitty fate. True, the applause for makeup and makeup is due to someone else, but the rest goes to the director and actress. Mom and her son were deadly convincing, I felt as if I saw the suffering family with my own eyes, but not on the TV screen, but on the street of my city.

   To sum up, it is a really good film, which was close to being very good (the author made too many small mistakes - seemingly insignificant, but there are too many of them. On the other hand, if every creator had such a debut, we would not have weak titles in our world culture). You could also get a little more out of it, because unfortunately "Babadook" loses some of its magical charm when we discover the secret. Not only did I have it, from what I read on the internet, there was more than one reviewer who complained about it. It's not a major flaw, because the movie ends a bit later, has a satisfying ending, and is consistent, but "I felt it". It is also a successful horror, probably of Japanese style (I do not know this genre, so forgive my possible ignorance), i.e. scaring us with mood and emotions, not gore and scare-jumps. There are some of them, but they are served with taste and are not abused. My rating is strong +7/10.

   

   Ostatnio miałem dużo nerwów w prywatnym życiu, reagowałem też na zmiany pogody, różnice w ciśnieniu etc. Dlatego postanowiłem skorzystać z okazji, że moja dziewczyna wyjechała na tydzień, by się zrelaksować. Zacząłem oglądać nowe anime (jedno nowe, jedno stare w formie rewatchu), przeczytałem dużą część 1 tomu "Altered Carbon" oraz obejrzałem 2 horrory. "Freddy vs Jason", który jest totalnym, bezpiecznie zrobionym śmieciem, który nie dał mi żadnej satysfakcji (nie podniecają mnie krwawe i ładne morderstwa, ale doceniam je, gdy są w porządnie zrealizowanym filmie) - wykorzystali znaną markę, potraktowali jej fanów jak frajerów i wycisnęli z nich kasę. Drugi jest jego przeciwieństwem - to tani i kameralny film, który kosztował 2 miliony dolarów, czyli żałośnie śmiesznie mało. Mało tego, był to debiut reżyserki (o czym dowiedziałem się po seansie, gdyby ktoś mi napisał w trakcie, że to jej debiutancka produkcja, to w życiu bym nie uwierzył, to było zbyt dobre!). Miał za to klimat, ciekawy scenariusz, ważny morał, bardzo dobrych aktorów (lub doświadczonych, ale dobrze poprowadzonych przez panią reżyser). O ile walorów artystycznych nie ma co oczekiwać po głupim slasherze... Choć w sumie w przypadku fabuły i aktorów też nie warto, aczkolwiek pierwsza część remake'u "Halloween" pokazuje, że jest inaczej. Zatem, wracając, nie ma co oczekiwać od filmu rozrywkowego, że będzie ambitny, ale ten był po prostu kurwa żaden - nie był dobry zarówno jako bezmózga rozrywka, film akcji, czy cokolwiek innego. W przeciwieństwie do "The Babadook", który wziął mnie z zaskoczenia.

   Fabuła tego filmu jest bardzo prosta, a jednocześnie bardzo metaforyczna, więc nie będę zbyt długo o niej pisał. Wiem, często powtarzam to hasło, ale to kolejny przypadek, gdy lepiej jest, jak się nie wie zbyt dużo na jej temat. Odkrywanie tej zagadki i jej niuansów samemu, daje znacznie więcej frajdy niż oglądanie ze świadomością, co się może mniej więcej stać. Szczególnie w sytuacji, gdy dopiero pod koniec filmu dowiadujemy się o co tak naprawdę chodzi. Przez większość filmu widzimy różne sygnały, które dają nam pozornie sprzeczne informacje, ale pod koniec seansu, dostajemy "piękny" payoff wyjaśniający całą zagadkę. Znajdziecie tu mnóstwo odniesień do tego, jak człowiek czuje się po stracie kogoś bliskiego lub gdy fundamenty jego życia się rozpadają. Wiele z nich to drobne gesty, reakcje emocjonalne lub cielesne, jeżeli znacie się na psychologii lub sami przeżyliście takie sytuacje, to na pewno znajdziecie znajome rzeczy. "The Babadook" opowiada o kobiecie, która samotnie wychowuje swojego syna po śmierci męża. Przez cały film widzimy, jak bardzo to wyniszcza rodzinę - dziecko staje się coraz głośniejsze i bezczelne, zabiega o atencję zmęczonej matki, która z dnia na dzień ma coraz mniej siły. Dawno nie widziałem obrazu, który by tak świetnie to pokazywał poprzez aktorów, dosłownie widzimy jak matka się rozsypuje, każdego dnia zbliżając się coraz bardziej do załamania nerwowego, w którym stwierdzi, że pierdoli to wszystko i pragnie jedynie zakończyć swoje życie, a wcześniej dziecka. Zarówno od strony psychicznej, jak i cielesnej, jej charakter rozpada się na kawałeczki, coraz trudniej jej powstrzymać histerię, a ciało z dnia na dzień marnieje - jej skóra blednie, włosy siwieją, starzeje się, ma coraz mniej siły, a coraz więcej frustracji.

   Sam reżyser lub reżyserka, nie byłby w stanie tego zrobić bez odpowiednich aktorów, niezależnie od jego talentu do wykorzystywania atutów i "ustawiania" aktorów.  Odtwórcy głównych ról co prawda nie są zbyt znani, ale jak napisałem w kilku różnych tekstach na kilku różnych przykładach, na świecie jest mnóstwo świetnych aktorów, komiksów, gier etc. którzy z różnych powodów nie mogli się przebić. Czasem z powodu pecha, czasem bo zmarnowali swoją szansę, bo nikt znany ich nie dostrzegł lub wstaw dowolnie inny powód. Syn doskonale pokazał irytującego, nadmiernie rozpieszczonego lub dostającego zbyt mało atencji młodego człowieka. Zazwyczaj irytują mnie takie postacie, ale tym razem czułem wobec niego zaskakującą mnie empatię i zrozumienie. Był taki "naturalny", a jego krzykliwa postawa nie była udawana, jak to bywa w niektórych produkcjach. Tak samo jak uciekał ze strachu - zachowywał się dosłownie w podręcznikowy sposób. Jeśli chodzi o jego mamę, to jak już mówiłem, reżyserka perfekcyjnie pokazała nam jej rozkładający się charakter i coraz bardziej zaniedbane ciało. Mama zmienia się na przestrzeni całego filmu, dochodzą jej nowe zmarszczki, pojawiają się inne objawy, a jej początkowy efekt wyparcia i złudna wiara, że "jakoś to będzie", przeistacza się w narastającą frustrację i pogodzenie z własnym, gównianym losem. Fakt, brawa za makijaż i charakteryzację należą się komuś innemu, ale cała reszta, idzie na konto reżyserki i aktorki. Mama i jej syn byli śmiertelnie przekonywujący, czułem jakbym na własne oczy widział cierpiącą rodzinę, ale nie na ekranie telewizora, a na ulicy mojego miasta.

   Reasumując, to naprawdę dobry film, któremu niewiele brakowało do bycia bardzo dobrym (autorka popełniła zbyt wiele drobnych błędów - niby nieistotnych, ale jest ich zbyt dużo. Z drugiej strony, gdyby każdy twórca miał taki debiut, to nie mielibyśmy słabych tytułów w naszej ziemskiej kulturze). Można też było wyciągnąć z tego trochę więcej, bo niestety "Babadook" traci trochę swojego magicznego uroku, gdy odkryjemy tajemnicę. Nie tylko ja tak miałem, z tego co czytałem w internecie, to nie jeden recenzent na to narzekał. Nie jest to poważna wada, bo film kończy się trochę później, ma satysfakcjonujące zakończenie i jest spójny, no ale "odczułem to". To też udany horror, chyba Japońskiego stylu (nie znam się na tym gatunku, więc wybaczcie moją ewentualną ignorancję), czyli straszącego przede wszystkim nastrojem i emocjami, a nie gore i scare-jumpami. Tych co prawda jest trochę, ale są one podane ze smakiem i nie są nadużywane. Moja ocena to mocne +7/10.

   Hello, Internet people. Today I want to talk to you about this 2014 film, which can be categorized as a horror film, but nevertheless has a very interesting background. In this post we will analyse the film in all its composition as usual but we will also talk at the end about its representation and background that I find important and interesting to share.

   Hola, gente de Internet. Hoy quiero hablarles de esta película de 2014, la cuál puede catalogarse como de terror, pero que sin embargo tiene un trasfondo bastante interesante. En este post analizaremos la película en toda su composición como de costumbre, pero también hablaremos al final de su representación y trasfondo que me parece importante e interesante compartir.

   

   Let's start by talking about the technical aspects. Those of you who read my film analysis posts, know that for me photography is one of the most important aspects. In this film the photography corresponds to the horror elements: The colour palette is almost non-existent, what do I mean by this? It has a filter that washes out the colours giving the scenery a depressing and not very encouraging look, the lighting tends to be grey (like the kind of light you get on cloudy days) which generates a cold atmosphere.

   Empecemos hablando de sus aspectos técnicos. Los que leen mis post de análisis de películas, saben que para mi la fotografía es uno de los aspectos más importantes. En esta película la fotografía corresponde a los elementos de terror: La paleta de colores es casi inexistente ¿Qué quiero decir con esto? que tiene un filtro que deslava los colores dándole a los escenarios un aspecto deprimente y poco alentador, la iluminación tiende a ser gris (como el tipo de luz que hay en días nublados) que genera una ambientación fría.

   There are many close up shots, too many I would say, I could even say that 80% of the film has these shots as well as some fixed aerial shots and some close mid-distance shots. Strangely, although this resource is abused, it doesn't make the aesthetics of the film bad, which is quite surprising.

   Hay muchos planos de close up, demasiados diría yo, incluso podría decir que el 80% de la película tiene estos planos además de algunos aéreos fijos y algunos cerrados a media distancia. Extrañamente aunque se abusa de este recurso, no hace que la estética de la película sea mala, algo que es bastante sorprendente.

   The performances are great, even with the film's simple script, it doesn't feel boring as the events and performances are well structured, placed and developed. I have to give a standing ovation to both lead actors (mother and son), considering the young age of the child, we get to see a Leo DiCaprio in him, his complex and deep scenes are executed to perfection.

   Las actuaciones son buenísimas, incluso con el guion simple que tiene la película, no se siente aburrida ya que los eventos y actuaciones están bien estructuradas, ubicadas y desarrolladas. Tengo que aplaudir de pie a ambos actores principales (madre e hijo), teniendo en cuenta la escasa edad del niño, podemos ver a un Leo DiCaprio en él, sus escenas complejas y con mucha profundidad las ejecuta a la perfección.

   The story is quite interesting. Amelia is having labour pains and is taken by her husband to the hospital, however they have an accident where her husband loses his life, so she has to raise her little boy alone. Seven years later, her son is a gentle but strange child, it is remarkable how the mother's sadness at the loss of her husband has been reflected in the little boy, making him quite asocial and at times extremely extrovert but erratic.

   La historia es bastante interesante. Amelia está teniendo dolores de parto y es llevada por su marido al hospital, sin embargo tienen un accidente donde su esposo pierde la vida, es así como ella debe criar a su pequeño sola. Siete años más tarde, su hijo es un niño gentil pero extraño, es notable como la tristeza de la madre a raíz de la pérdida de su esposo se ha reflejado en el pequeño, haciéndolo bastante asocial y a veces en extremo extrovertido pero errático.

   One night, Samuel (the boy) asks his mother to read him a story that was on her bookshelf (which the mother doesn't remember buying), she sits down with him and starts to read the book which turns out to be very disturbing and although she wants to stop several times, the boy insists until he ends up terrified, even before she finishes reading, as the last sentence was so morbid that she decided not to read it out loud, so she changes stories but in the end she goes to bed to sleep with her son as he is still terrified.

   Una noche, Samuel (el niño) le pide a la madre que le lea un cuento que estaba en su librero (y que la madre no recuerda haber comprado), ella se sienta con él y empieza a leer el libro que resulta ser muy perturbador y aunque ella quiere parar en varias ocasiones, el niño le insiste hasta que termina aterrado, antes incluso que ella termine de leer, ya que la ultima frase era tan mórbida que decidió no leerla en voz alta, así que ella cambia de cuento pero al final se acuesta a dormir con su hijo ya que el sigue aterrado.

   This only increases the panic of the monsters that the boy, who was even designing homemade weapons to "protect himself", already felt. Everything starts to take a turn for the worse when Amelia is called to the school where she is told that Samuel brought a homemade crossbow to class and may have injured a child. The school wanted to discuss assigning a guard to the boy but Amelia refuses as she doesn't want her son to be further judged by his peers, so she withdraws him from school. To cut to the chase, the point is that the two begin to be stalked by an entity called the Babadook, who appears after three dry heaves and pronounces his name in a rather disturbing way:

   Now let's talk about the soundtrack: It's pure gold, I don't think I've ever heard such a good soundtrack for a horror movie (not even Joseph Bishara's compositions) and with that I say it all. It uses sounds with a lot of bass, echoes, crescendo, music box sounds, random sounds (that remind me of Akira Yamaoka's work), sirens, xylophones... it's really good. The genius behind this masterpiece is Jed Kurzel.

   Ahora hablemos de la banda sonora: Es oro puro, creo que nunca he oído una banda sonora para una película de terror tan buena (ni las composiciones de Joseph Bishara) y con eso lo digo todo. Usa sonidos con mucho bajo, ecos, crescendo, sonidos de cajas musicales, sonidos random (que me recuerdan al trabajo de Akira Yamaoka), sirenas, xilofonos... es realmente bueno. El genio detrás de esta obra maestra es Jed Kurzel.

   

   This isn't that important to review but I loved it, it's about the great job the props team did in making the Babadook book. As a book lover, I've always wanted a book with tabs and embossing and the artwork behind this book is beautiful (in its own way):

   Finally we will talk about the background of the film, which isn't explained in the film itself but explained by the director of the film. It could not be taken as a Spoiler since the information is not provided by the film itself, but it would detract a lot from the setting if you have not seen the film, so I recommend you to watch it before reading what I will write next, it is up to you to continue reading after this point.

   Por último hablaremos del trasfondo de la película que no se explica en la misma, sino que lo explicó el director de la cinta. No se podría tomar como un Spoiler ya que la información no la aporta la misma película, pero sí restaría bastante de la ambientación si no has visto la película, así que te recomiendo verla antes de leer lo que escribiré a continuación, el continuar en la lectura después de este punto ya es tu responsabilidad.

   the Babadook does not tangibly exist, i.e. it is not a spectre but a representation of a possible major depressive disorder that Amelia possesses. To understand and associate the events of the film with this disorder, we must understand it. Major depressive disorder is the last scale of depression and must be medicated to cope in addition to therapy, it is treated by a psychiatrist as is logical and is a great burden for the patient, in addition, this disorder can lead to other mental pathologies such as anxiety, psychosis and paranoia.

   Resulta que el Babadook no existe tangiblemente, es decir, no es un espectro sino la representación de un posible trastorno depresivo mayor que posee Amelia. Para entender y asociar los eventos de la película a este trastorno, debemos entenderlo. El trastorno depresivo mayor es la última escala de la depresión y que debe ser medicada para sobrellevarse además de terapia, la trata un psiquiatra como es lógico y es una gran carga para el paciente, además, dicho trastorno puede derivar en otras patologías mentales como la ansiedad, psicosis y paranoia.

   Knowing this, we can understand that what plagues Amelia is illness, and that her fits of hysteria, violence and panic are derived from the illnesses that the former caused, all as a result of the loss of her husband and the grotesque way in which it happens in the film, the way her little boy perceives her due to the terror.

   Sabiendo esto, podemos entender que lo que asecha a Amelia es la enfermedad, y que sus ataque de histeria, violencia y pánico son derivados de las enfermedades que la primera ocasionó, todo a raíz de la pérdida de su esposo y la forma grotesca en la que se sucede en la película, el como su pequeño debido al terror la percibe.

   SPOILER BELOW / A CONTINUACIÓN UN SPOILER:

   At the end of the film we see how Amelia confronts the Babadook and he takes refuge and locks himself in the basement. Later we see that the lives of mother and son improve markedly and one day in the garden, Amelia takes the worms from the plants and goes down to the basement to appease and feed Babadook, showing us that the monster did not leave, but that they can appease him and. In the film we are shown that once the monster settles in, he does not leave.

   Al final de la película vemos como Amelia le hace frente al Babadook y éste se refugia y encierra en el sótano. Posteriormente vemos que la vida de madre e hijo mejora notablemente y un día en el jardín, Amelia toma los gusanos de las plantas y baja al sótano a apaciguar y alimentar a Babadook, mostrándonos que el monstruo no se fue, pero que pueden apaciguarlo, y es que en la película nos muestran que el monstruo una vez que se instala no se va.

   Major depressive disorder cannot be cured, just like other mental pathologies such as schizophrenia, it can only be kept at bay thanks to the drugs prescribed by the psychiatrist, which is how the end of the film reflects that because of her son, Amelia keeps her illness at bay, which she will have to live with for the rest of her life: The Babadook represents the illness, the worms the drugs (that's why by giving them to her, Babadook seems to be appeased) and the basement, the part of her mind where the illness is locked up and where she must remain for everything to go well.

   El trastorno depresivo mayor no tiene cura, tal como otras patologías mentales como la esquizofrenia, solo puede mantenerse a raya gracias a los medicamentos indicados por el psiquiatra, es así como el final de la película refleja que por su hijo, Amelia mantiene a raya a su enfermedad con la que tendrá que convivir el resto de su vida: El Babadook representa la enfermedad, los gusanos los fármacos (por eso al dárselos, Babadook parece apaciguarse) y el sótano, la parte de su mente donde está encerrada la enfermedad y donde debe permanecer para que todo vaya bien.

   Hola de nuevo! Hoy les traigo un post bastante genial en el cual les hablaré sobre una película que vi recientemente, Babadook. Hace varias semanas le había dicho a mi novio que me gustaría ver una película de terror buena que me deje la sensación de tensión que se espera al ver una película de ese estilo, así que me dijo para ver juntos este filme. Cuando la vimos y terminó estábamos en la oscuridad total, realmente pensé que no tenía miedo y hasta le dije a mi novio eso mismo, que esa película no me había dado miedo, pero cuando me dijo que vaya al baño sin prender las luces del pasillo me di cuenta que no podía caminar en la oscuridad del horror tan particular que me había dejado esta historia. Así que hoy les hablaré sobre esta película la cual me dejó una sensación de temor peculiar al terminar de verla, además de no dar spoilers por si les interesa verla, comencemos!

   Hello again! Today I come to you with a pretty cool post in which I will tell you about a movie I recently saw, Babadook. Several weeks ago I had told my boyfriend that I would like to see a good horror movie that would leave me with the feeling of tension that you expect when watching a movie of that style, so he told me to watch this film together. When we watched it and it ended we were in total darkness, I really thought I was not scared and I even told my boyfriend that very thing, that this movie had not scared me, but when he told me to go to the bathroom without turning on the hallway lights I realized that I could not walk in the darkness of the horror so particular that this story had left me. So today I will talk about this movie which left me with a peculiar feeling of fear when I finished watching it, besides not giving spoilers in case you are interested in watching it, let's go!

   

   

   

   

   Babadook es una película de género de terror y suspenso dirigida por Jennifer Kent, producida por Causeway Film y filmada en Australia siendo estrenada en 2014 en el festival de cine Sundance. La historia comienza mostrando la vida de una mujer llamada Amelia, una madre que cría sola a su hijo Samuel ya que su esposo murió mientras la llevaba al hospital a dar a luz. Parece que la vida de esta mujer no es nada fácil porque Samuel le trae algunos problemas, a pesar de ser inteligente e imaginativo, está obsesionado con combatir a un monstruo imaginario, hace armas caseras, tiene constantes pesadillas que no dejan dormir a su madre y tiene problemas de conducta, de manera que ocasiona que sea retirado de la escuela donde estudiaba. Además, Amelia tiene un trabajo aparentemente aburrido en un asilo donde parece tener cierto coqueteo con un compañero llamado Robbie, cosa que no va a ningún lado aparentemente por culpa de Samuel. Un día Amelia le lee un libro a su hijo llamado "Mr. Babadook" para que pueda dormir, este cuento trata de un monstruo pero mientras más lee, más oscuro se torna el relato llegando a asustar a Samuel e inquietando mucho a Amelia. Para complicar todo, la protagonista tiene una difícil relación con su hermana debido a Samuel, ya que asusta a su hija con las historias del monstruo que él piensa que es real. Amelia va a la fiesta de su sobrina, sin embargo por una pelea, Samuel lanza a su prima de la casa del árbol rompiendo su nariz. Amelia y Samuel poco a poco tienen una relación más tensa.

   Babadook is a horror and suspense genre film directed by Jennifer Kent, produced by Causeway Film and filmed in Australia and premiered in 2014 at the Sundance Film Festival. The story begins by showing the life of a woman named Amelia, a mother raising her son Samuel alone since her husband died while taking her to the hospital to give birth. It seems that this woman's life is not at all easy because Samuel brings her some problems, despite being intelligent and imaginative, he is obsessed with fighting an imaginary monster, he makes homemade weapons, has constant nightmares that do not let his mother sleep and has behavioral problems, so that causes him to be withdrawn from the school where he studied. In addition, Amelia has a seemingly boring job in a nursing home where she seems to have a certain flirtation with a fellow student named Robbie, which goes nowhere apparently because of Samuel. One day Amelia reads a book to her son called "Mr. Babadook" so he can sleep, this story is about a monster but the more she reads, the darker the story gets, scaring Samuel and disturbing Amelia a lot. To complicate everything, the protagonist has a difficult relationship with her sister because of Samuel, as he scares her daughter with the stories of the monster that he thinks is real. Amelia goes to her niece's party, however because of a fight, Samuel throws her cousin out of the tree house breaking her nose. Amelia and Samuel gradually have a strained relation.

   

   

   Luego de varias situaciones, Amelia quema ese libro pero de adelante la película nos muestra una historia de tensión y horror debido a que el cuento de Mr. Babadook supera la fantasía y no parece ser un simple libro infantil de terror, pero hay que verlo desde una perspectiva bastante peculiar para comprender todos los eventos que suceden más adelante. Posee un elenco pequeño donde aunque tenga a personajes como son Oskar, Claire, Robbie, (interpretados por Daniel Henshall, Hayley McElhinney, Hayley McElhinney) etc, se destaca a Essie Davis como Amelia y Noah Wiseman como Samuel. Realmente me gustó mucho como actuaron ellos dos a lo largo de la película, mostrando de manera excelente su frustración, estrés, miedo y a veces, locura, que se va desarrollando a lo largo de la película. Este filme nos transmite muchas cosas que nos permiten adentrarnos más aún en la historia, además de tener que notar varios detalles para entender más a fondo la situación que viven los protagonistas. Algo que me parece curioso es como al principio nos hacen empatizar mucho más con Amelia, mostrándonos a una madre estresada que duerme muy poco debido a los problemas que le genera Samuel, pero que poco a poco va cambiando esa fachada, mostrándonos el por qué Samuel es como es. La historia está muy bien contada, hay que ser muy observador de los detalles que nos otorga esta película para entender muchas cosas más lo largo de la trama y comprender más a fondo su final.

   After several situations, Amelia burns that book but from the beginning the film shows us a story of tension and horror because the story of Mr. Babadook exceeds fantasy and does not seem to be a simple children's book of terror, but you have to see it from a very peculiar perspective to understand all the events that happen later. It has a small cast where even though it has characters such as Oskar, Claire, Robbie, (played by Daniel Henshall, Hayley McElhinney, Hayley McElhinney) etc, Essie Davis as Amelia and Noah Wiseman as Samuel stand out. I really liked how the two of them acted throughout the film, showing their frustration, stress, fear and at times, insanity, which develops throughout the film, in an excellent way. This film transmits us many things that allow us to go even deeper into the story, besides having to notice several details to understand more thoroughly the situation that the protagonists live. Something that I find curious is how at the beginning they make us empathize much more with Amelia, showing us a stressed mother who sleeps very little due to the problems that Samuel generates, but little by little she changes that facade, showing us why Samuel is the way he is. The story is very well told, you have to be very observant of the details that gives us this film to understand many things more along the plot and understand more thoroughly its end.

   

   

   La ambientación de esta película es muy buena, en cuanto a la paleta de colores podemos notar tonos fríos en su mayoría, lo cual ayuda a aclimatar, sobre todo a Babadook que se destaca por su apariencia oscura. Al ser una película de bajo presupuesto no cuenta con muchas locaciones, a veces se muestra el asilo, el colegio de Samuel o la casa de la hermana de Amelia, pero el escenario principal es la casa de la madre y el hijo donde ocurren la gran mayoría de los eventos, lugar que se aprovecha al máximo en esta película. La fotografía de esta es muy buena, los planos están muy bien ejecutados y realmente logran adentrarnos en la tensión de la historia, mostrando bueno acercamientos, planos bien logrados y además, con buenas tomas y secuencias. La música y los sonidos en general están muy bien hechos, ponen música en momentos muy específicos y la quitan en los momentos correctos dejando que el suspenso se sienta a lo largo del filme. El guión está muy bien, relata el día a día de una madre muy estresada con su enérgetico y aparentemente problemático hijo, además de dar detalles que, como dije anteriormente, hay que observar detenidamente para poder entender varias cosas de lo que suceden, porque un cuento para niños puede convertirse en una realidad de pesadillas para la madre y para el hijo. Algo que me gustó mucho es que no contiene los famosos "screamers", sino que hay momentos de tensión que cualquier elemento que nos tome por sorpresa nos hace pegar aunque sea un brinquito, sin necesidad de gritos fuertes.

   The ambience of this film is very good, as for the color palette we can notice cold tones mostly, which helps to acclimate, especially Babadook that stands out for its dark appearance. Being a low budget film it does not have many locations, sometimes it shows the asylum, Samuel's school or Amelia's sister's house, but the main scenario is the house of the mother and son where most of the events occur, a place that is used to the fullest in this film. The cinematography is very good, the shots are very well executed and really get us into the tension of the story, showing good close-ups, well done shots and also, with good shots and sequences. The music and sounds in general are very well done, they play music at very specific moments and remove it at the right moments leaving the suspense felt throughout the film. The script is very good, it tells the day to day life of a very stressed mother with her energetic and apparently problematic son, besides giving details that, as I said before, you have to watch carefully to understand several things that happen, because a children's story can become a nightmare reality for the mother and son. Something that I really liked is that it does not contain the famous "screamers", but there are moments of tension that any element that takes us by surprise makes us jump, even if it is just a little, without the need for loud screams.

   

   

   Realmente esta película me causó un miedo bastante peculiar, algo que ninguna otra película me había hecho sentir antes porque en el momento no sentía temor, pero cuando me quise levantar en la oscuridad para ir al baño, sí sentía algo de tensión. Tenía mucho tiempo sin ver una película de terror que me hiciera sentir así, ya que sentía que muchas películas caían en demasiadas cosas que suelen ser muy predecibles, cosa que de verdad me hizo sentir bastante complacida por la película porque no cae en eso. Siento que toca mucho la fibra emocional llegando a un terror psicológico bien elaborado, no necesita de tantos sonidos de puertas que abren y cierran, pasos constantes, ni screamers para causar un genuino terror, no es cliché en contar la historia donde aparentemente hay un monstruo físico que maldice el lugar o que los matará a todos porque sí, sino que es un monstruo que puede puede llegar a ser interno. Los personajes de Amelia y Samuel me gustaron mucho, siento que ambos actuaron muy bien, Essie Davis interpreta de manera excelente a la madre cansada que tiene un trabajo aburrido y debe soportar el hecho de que su hijo sufra de sueños constantes por creer que lo persigue un monstruo, además de mostrar su cambio de actitud de manera excelente, y Noah Wiseman es un pequeño talento que espero que al crecer surja de buena manera, su interpretación como Samuel es muy buena, representando a un niño brillante pero a la vez sumamente inquieto, que parece que tiene un severo problema de conducta pero que está dispuesto a luchar contra el monstruo que cree real. Recomiendo esta película si les gusta el terror, además de que no cae en típicos clichés, deben ser muy observadores para poder entender muchas cosas que suceden y al final, quedarán con una tensión difícil de explicar, ya que no es el miedo común a algo externo, sino que va más allá.

   Actually this movie caused me a quite peculiar fear, something that no other movie had made me feel before because at the moment I didn't feel fear, but when I wanted to get up in the dark to go to the bathroom, I did feel some tension. I had a long time without seeing a horror movie that made me feel that way, as I felt that many movies fell into too many things that are usually very predictable, which actually made me feel quite pleased with the film because it does not fall into that. I feel that it touches the emotional fiber reaching a well elaborated psychological terror, it does not need so many sounds of doors opening and closing, constant steps, or screamers to cause genuine terror, it is not cliché in telling the story where apparently there is a physical monster that curses the place or that will kill everyone just because, but it is a monster that can become internal. I really liked the characters of Amelia and Samuel, I felt they both acted very well, Essie Davis plays the tired mother who has a boring job and must endure the fact that her son suffers from constant dreams because she believes he is being chased by a monster excellently, as well as showing her change of attitude excellently, and Noah Wiseman is a little talent that I hope as he grows up will emerge in a good way, his performance as Samuel is very good, portraying a bright but at the same time extremely restless boy, who seems to have a severe behavioral problem but is willing to fight the monster he believes is real. I recommend this film if you like horror, besides that it does not fall into typical clichés, you must be very observant to understand many things that happen and at the end, you will be left with a tension difficult to explain, since it is not the common fear of something external, but goes beyond.
