   History is about three children: Manolo, Joaquín and María, who enjoy playing together. Manolo is the son of a professional bullfighter, while Joaquin, is the son of the hero of the people, therefore, they dream of being the same as their parents, especially with the intentions of courting Mary, his friend but also the owner of his hearts. The girl is brave summant and she does not tolerate injustices, so along with the two children, always ends up getting into trouble and making her father disturbed, General Posada.

   It is a quite attractive movie, the design of its characters is different and striking, since it is done so that it gives the impression that they are made of wood, given that at the beginning of the film, someone is telling the story using wooden dolls. That one of me is one of its attractions, not to mention that it has a pleasant band smiles, with quite emotional songs. But without a doubt, what I liked most, is the message that teaches. It shows us that true heroes are not measured by the amount of medals that can win, but because of the value of their hearts. It is nice to meet animated movies that seek to leave a teaching, especially the little ones.

   La historia trata acerca de tres niños: Manolo, Joaquín y María, que disfrutan de jugar juntos. Manolo es el hijo de un torero profesional, mientras que Joaquín, es el hijo del héroe del pueblo, por tanto, ellos sueñan con ser iguales que sus padres, sobretodo con las intenciones de cortejar a María, su amiga pero también la dueña de sus corazones. La niña es sumamante valiente y no tolera las injusticias, por lo que junto a los dos niños, siempre acaba metiéndose en problemas y haciendo molestar a su padre, el General Posada.

   Por otro lado, en la tierra de los muertos se encuentran la Catrina, gobernante de de la tierra de los recordados y Xibalba, el gobernante de la tierra de los olvidados. Ellos son amantes de las apuestas y una vez que van a visitar la tierra de los hombres durante el festiejo del día de los muertos, observan por casualidad a los tres niños jugando, precisamente en el momento en el que están teniendo una disputa. Al notar el triángulo amoroso, La Catrina y Xibalba deciden hacer una nueva apuesta, escogiendo cada uno un niño con el que piensan, será el que logrará obtener el corazón de la temeraría María.

   Debido a una de sus desastrosas aventuras, el padre de María acaba deciendo mandarla a un convento en España, en el que espere que la niña rectifique su comportamiento. En ese momento los niños tienen que separarse, más tras una emotiva despedida, tanto Manolo como Joaquín le prometen a María esforzarse para recibirla en su regreso. Con el tiempo, los niños crecen y como era de esperarse, Joaquín se vuelve el nuevo héroe del pueblo y Manolo, un torero al igual que su padre. La llegada de María está cercana y ambos estan emocionados por volver a verla luego de tantos años... sólo que son ignorantes de que sus vidas, forman parte de una apuesta de un par de gobernantes de las tierras de los muertos, mucho menos que Xibalba, se atreverá a jugar sucio para intentar ganar dicha apuesta.

   Es una película bastante atractiva, el diseño de sus personajes es diferente y llamativo, dado que está realizado de modo que da la impresión de que están hechos de madera, dado que al inicio del filme, alguien está relatando la historia utilizando unos muñecos de madera. Ese para mí es uno de sus atractivos, sin mencionar con que cuenta con una agradable banda sonrora, con canciones bastante emotivas. Pero sin lugar a dudas, lo que más me gustó, es el mensaje que enseña. Nos muestra que los verdaderos héroes no se miden por la cantidad de medallas que pueden llegar a ganar, sino por el valor de sus corazones. Es agradable encontrarse con películas animadas que buscan dejar una enseñanza, sobretodo a los más pequeños.

I hope you are well, today I want to share with you a movie that I really like to see at this time of year, it is "The Book Of Life" which was released in 2014 by 20th Century Fox and starring Diego Luna, Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Kate Del Castillo and Ron Pearlman. I hope you like it.

   ¡Hola mis queridos amigos amantes del cine! Espero se encuentren bien, hoy les quiero compartir una película la cual me gusta mucho ver en esta época del año, se trata de "The Book Of Life" la cual fué estrenada en el 2014 por 20th Century Fox y protagonizada por Diego Luna, Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Kate Del Castillo y Ron Pearlman. Espero sea de su agrado.

   

   Plot / Trama

   Manolo, Joaquín and María have been friends since childhood but there is a love triangle between them since both Manolo and Joaquín are in love with María. The 3 children take different paths since María goes to study far away, Manolo is trained by his father to be a bullfighter and Joaquín becomes the hero of the city. Although Manolo is preparing to become a bullfighter, his true passion is music (although his father does not agree) so he practices his songs secretly. When María returns, Manolo's first bullfight is celebrated, but when it comes time to kill the bull, Manolo refuses and María supports him. María is also in love with Manolo but she must marry Joaquín so that he can protect the city from a bandit called "El Chakal". María is very irritated by Joaquín's macho attitude so she goes to her room where Manolo dedicates a song to her and they almost kiss her but she decides not to make things easy for him.

   Manolo, Joaquín y María son amigos desde la infancia pero entre ellos hay un triángulo amoroso ya que tanto Manolo como Joaquín están enamorados de María. Los 3 niños toman caminos diferentes ya que María se va a estudiar lejos, Manolo es formado por su padre para ser torero y Joaquín se vuelve el héroe de la cuidad. Aunque Manolo se prepara para volverse un torero su verdadera pasión es la música (aunque su padre no está de acuerdo) por lo que practica sus canciones a escondidas. Cuando María regresa se celebra la primera corrida de toros de Manolo, pero cuando llega el momento de matar al toro, Manolo se niega y María lo apoya. María también está enamorada de Manolo pero deberá casarse con Joaquín para que este proteja la cuidad de un bandido llamado "El Chakal". María se irrita mucho con la actitud machista de Joaquín por lo que se va a su cuarto dónde Manolo le dedica una canción y casi se besan pero ella decide no ponerle las cosas fáciles.

Catrina and Xibalba who had made a bet on who will marry María and since Catrina bet Manolo, Xibalba decides to prevent him and María from meeting to avoid losing the bet so when they meet the next day and declare their love, Xibalba makes his 2-headed snake bite Maria apparently killing her, Manolo devastated, decides to die too to meet Maria so he makes a pact with Xibalba, the 2-headed snake bites Manolo, who dies instantly and wakes up in the land of the remembered, where he meets his deceased relatives who take him to Catrina's castle to ask him about María but they meet Xibalba who confesses the bet he made with Catrina and the plan he made to separate them so Manolo angrily tells him that he is going to tell Catrina.

   María está indecisa en aceptar la propuesta de matrimonio de Joaquín ya que no lo ama, pero cuando el toca su lado sensible le responde con un sí inexacto, pero esa misma noche Manolo le pide a María verse al amanecer en el puente y se despide de ella. Catrina y Xibalba los cuales habían hecho una apuesta sobre quién se casará con María y como Catrina apostó a Manolo, Xibalba decide evitar que él y María se encuentren para evitar perder la apuesta por lo que cuando ellos se reúnen el día siguiente y se declaran su amor, Xibalba hace que su serpiente de 2 cabezas muerda a María aparentemente matándola, Manolo destrozado, decide morir el también para reunirse con María por lo que hace un pacto con Xibalba, la serpiente de 2 cabezas muerde a Manolo, el cual muere instantáneamente y despierta en la tierra de los recordados, dónde se reúne con sus familiares fallecidos los cuales lo llevan al castillo de la Catrina para preguntarle por María pero se encuentran con Xibalba el cual le confiesa la apuesta que hizo con la Catrina y el plan que hizo para separarlos por lo que Manolo enojado le dice que irá a decirle a la Catrina.

   Knowing that María is alive, Manolo decides to go to the castle of Xibalba to see Catrina in the company of his mother and grandfather, but to reach the land of the forgotten they must cross a labyrinth guarded by a stone giant which Manolo succeeds in defeat. The giant prepares to judge Manolo with his sword which he manages to cross since he has a pure heart. Then they meet the wax man and the book of life. Seeing the book of life that Manolo is writing his own story, he decides to help him get his life back. When they arrive in the land of the forgotten, they meet with Catrina and tell her about the trap Xibalba made, so Catrina says that since Manolo was deceived, the only thing to do is to bring him back to life, but Xibalba refuses at first but then creates a new bet in which if Manolo manages to beat all the bulls that the Sanchez family have killed in the bullfights he will be able to revive but if he does not win he will be forgotten forever, Manolo accepts but during the bullfight, when he has the opportunity to kill the bull he regrets it and instead of killing him decides to play his guitar and sing an apologetic song for him, which causes the bull to finally rest in peace. Acknowledging Manolo's triumph, Catrina, Xibalba and the wax man bring Manolo back to life.

   Sabiendo que María está viva, Manolo decide ir al castillo de Xibalba a ver a la Catrina en compañía de su mamá y su abuelo, pero para llegar a la tierra de los olvidados deben cruzar un laberinto custodiado por un gigante de piedra el cual Manolo logra derrotar. El gigante se dispone a juzgar a Manolo con su espada la él cual logra atravesar ya que tiene un corazón puro. Luego se encuentran con el hombre de cera y el libro de la vida, Al ver el libro de la vida que Manolo está escribiendo su propia historia decide ayudarlo a recuperar su vida. Cuando llegan a la tierra de los olvidadoes se reúnen con la Catrina y le cuentan de la trampa que hizo Xibalba, por lo que Catrina dice que como Manolo fué engañado lo justo es regresarlo a la vida pero Xibalba se niega al principio pero luego crea una nueva apuesta en la que si Manolo logra vencer a todos los toros que la familia Sanchez han matado en las corridas de toros podrá revivir pero si no gana será olvidado para siempre, Manolo acepta pero durante la corrida, cuando tiene la oportunidad de matar al toro se arrepiente y en lugar de matarlo decide tocar su guitarra y cantar una canción de disculpa para él, lo que hace que el toro finalmente pueda descansar en paz. Reconociendo el triunfo de Manolo, Catrina, Xibalba y el hombre de cera regresan a Manolo a la vida.

   Once back on earth, Manolo finds out that the town is preparing to fight against the Chakal who was seeking to recover the medal of immortality, so Manolo decides to fight alongside María and Joaquín and also joins his deceased family, but during the battle the Chakal manages to take Joaquín's medal so he becomes immortal and when the church bell falls, Joaquín manages to hold it by locking up the Chakal and Manolo but the Chakal lights a bomb to destroy the town, but Manolo pushes Joaquín and locks himself with the Chakal in the bell, saving him from the explosion along with the town. It is then revealed that Manolo managed to survive thanks to the medal, thus defeating the Chakal. Manolo and María declare their love for each other and get married, Catrina and Xibalba decide to make peace and end up kissing too. At the end of the film, the wax man appears saying that we write our own destiny.

   Una vez de vuelta en la tierra, Manolo se entera que el pueblo se prepara para luchar contra el Chakal el cual buscaba recuperar la medalla de la inmortalidad, así que Manolo decide luchar junto a María y Joaquín y también se úne su familia difunta, pero durante la batalla el Chakal logra quitarle la medalla a Joaquín por lo que se vuelve inmortal y cuando cae la campana de la iglesia, Joaquín logra sujetarla encerrando al Chakal y a Manolo pero el Chakal enciende una bomba para destruir el pueblo, pero Manolo empuja a Joaquín y se encierra con el Chakal en la campana salvándolo de la explosión junto con el pueblo. Luego se revela que Manolo logró sobrevivir gracias a la medalla, derrotando así al Chakal. Manolo y María se declaran su amor y se casan, Catrina y Xibalba deciden hacer las paces y terminan besándose también. Al final de la película aparece el hombre de cera diciendo que escribamos nuestro propio destino.

   My Opinion / Mi Opinión

   This is one of my favorite movies, I really liked the story which is quite entertaining and leaves an important message, and also the development of the characters is quite good. I really liked that in the end Manolo listened to his heart and decided not to be a bullfighter, also the courage of María and that Joaquín in the end fought not to feed his go, but for the good of the people. I also really liked the choice of actors to interpret the voices of the characters since they are mostly Latino and they give the film a great touch.

   Esta es una de mis películas favoritas, me gustó mucho la historia la cual es bastante entretenida y deja un importante mensaje, y también el desarrollo de los personajes es bastante bueno. Me gustó mucho que al final Manolo escuchó a su corazón y haya decidido no ser un torero, también la valentía de María y que Joaquín al final haya luchado no para alimentar su go, sino por el bien del pueblo. La elección de los actores para interpretar las voces de los personajes también me gustó mucho ya que en su mayoría son latinos y le dan un gran toque a la película.

   I also liked the animation and photography a lot, it has a very colorful color palette which is ideal for a film of this type and the character design is quite interesting and quite phenomenal, I also liked the way they represented the earth where the deceased go once they die since it looks like a quite beautiful and colorful place. This movie has many scenes that I like, such as the one of the first bullfight in which Manolo refuses to kill the bull, since I am sincerely against bullfighting since it seems to me a really cruel act. . I also liked the part in which Manolo meets his mother and relatives in the Land of the Remembered a lot since their meeting seemed very emotional, but the part that seemed most emotional to me and the one that made me cry is the final bullfight of Manolo since instead of killing the bull he decides to sing a song of apology in the presence of his entire family, which in the end ends up being very proud of him. Another scene that I liked was the one of the fight between the town and the Chakal since everyone showed his bravery managing to defeat him. In general, the film is really beautiful, entertaining and, as I mentioned before, it leaves a good message, so I consider that this film is ideal to enjoy with the family or alone.

   La animación y fotografía también me gustó mucho, tiene una paleta de colores bastante colorida lo cual es ideal para una película de este tipo y el diseño de los personajes es bastante interesante y bastante fenomenal, también me gustó la manera en la que representaron la tierra dónde van los difuntos una vez mueren ya que se ve como un lugar bastante hermoso y lleno de color. Esta película tiene muchísimas escenas que me gustan, como por ejemplo la de la primera corrida de toros en la que Manolo se niega a matar al toro, ya que yo sinceramente estoy en contra de las corridas de toro ya que me parece un acto realmente cruel. También la parte en la que Manolo se reúne con su madre y familiares en la Tierra de los Recordados me gustó bastante ya que su encuentro me pareció muy emotivo, pero la parte que me pareció más emotiva y la que me hizo llorar es la corrida final de Manolo ya que en lugar de matar al toro decide cantarle una canción de disculpa en presencia de su familia entera los cuales al final terminan muy orgullosos de él. Otra escena que me gustó fué la de la pelea entre el pueblo y el Chakal ya que todos mostraron su valentía logrando derrotarlo. En general la película es realmente hermosa, entretenida y como mencioné con anterioridad deja un buen mensaje por lo que considero que esta película es ideal para disfrutarla en familia o en solitario.

   I also loved the soundtrack, the songs are very beautiful and give a great touch to the story. Songs like "No Matter Where You Are", "The Apology Song" and "I Love You Too Much" are my favorites and I loved having the actors sing the songs even more. I consider this film one of the most beautiful we have seen and I would like to recommend it to all those who have not yet had the opportunity to see it, I assure you that you will not regret it and that you will have a very pleasant time enjoying it.

   El soundtrack también me encantó, las canciones son muy hermosas y le dan un grandioso toque a la historia. Canciones como "No Matter Where You Are", "The Apology Song" y "I love You Too Much" son mis favoritas y que los actores canten las canciones me encantó mas todavía. Considero esta película una de las más hermosas que hemosas que he visto y me gustaría recomendarla a todos los que todavía no hayan tenido la oportunidad de verla, les aseguro que no se arrepentirán y que pasarán un rato bastante agradable disfrutándola.

   El libro de la Vida

   Esta película recuerdo que la primera vez que la vi, fue en el colegio, sorprendentemente fue una de las pocas películas sino es que la única que valió la pena, ya que las pocas que ponían eran todas religiosas entonces se tornaban bastante aburridas, pero que esperaba, era un colegio católico jajaja.

   Esta película es del Día de los muertos una tradición mexicana que se celebra el 2 de noviembre en donde honran a sus antepasados, a sus familiares que ya no están, siempre mantienen presentes a sus familiares que ya no están en vida, les llevan ofrendas, sus comidas favoritas y cuentan sus anécdotas, la gente la suele confundir con Halloween pero no es así.

   La película nos cuenta muestra a unos niños traviesos que van al museo en donde les cuentan la historia de el día de los muertos y sus mundos, la tierra de los muertos y la tierra de los olvidados, cada una es gobernada por un ente, vemos la catrina y a Xibalba.

   Estos apuestan por quien se queda en la tierra de los muertos en donde ven tres amigos, Manolo, Joaquín y María, ambos niños estaban enamorados de María y ellos eligen a un niño y si el que escogieron logra enamorar a Maria y casarse con ella cuando estén grandes, ese será el que gobernará la tierra de los muertos, estos niños siempre intentaban conquistarla, hasta que esta es llevada a la ciudad y es alejada de ellos hasta años después.

   Manolo Sánchez ama la música y cantar, pero su familia es Torera, por lo que todos esperan que este siga con ese gran legado, pero odia matar a los animales.

   Joaquín es el hijo del general del pueblo por lo que termina siendo el general del pueblo, este es indestructible Gracias a una medalla que le dio Xibalba (si hizo trampa).

   María regresa al pueblo y tiene un poco más de interés por Manolo, es que quien no? Es un hombre dulce, con un corazón enorme que ama la música, a diferencia del Juaquin que el ego le gana pero el padre de María quiere que se case con este.

   Xibalba hace trampa nuevamente, por lo que engaña a Manolo y lo mata, por lo que aparentemente gano la apuesta, ya que si Manolo murió, Joaquín es el que se compromete con María, en especial para proteger el pueblo.

   Manolo en la tierra de los muertos intenta a toda costa regresar y tiene que lidiar con muchos conflictos pero el conflicto más grande el ser torero.

   Esta película la volví a ver hace poco, la amó y me enamora cada vez que la veo, es una de las mejores películas, la volveré a ver mil veces y me encantará igual. Si no la han visto, tiene que hacerlo, les va a encantar.

   La animación es bellísima, los personajes del cuento asemejan ser de madera, escenarios muy lindos, y una increíble historia.

   I remember that the first time I saw this movie, it was at school, surprisingly it was one of the few movies, if not the only one that was worth it, since the few that were shown were all religious, so they became quite boring, but I expected, it was a catholic school lol.

   This movie is from the Day of the Dead a Mexican tradition that is celebrated on November 2 where they honor their ancestors, their relatives who are no longer here, they always keep present their relatives who are no longer in life, they bring them offerings, their favorite foods and tell their anecdotes, people often confuse it with Halloween but it is not like that.

   Greetings movie lovers, continuing with the series of movies that I downloaded on my phone, yesterday afternoon I decided to watch one that I had several months without seeing it, since it is rarely shown on television, and it has a lot to talk about. This movie includes a bit of animation, comedy. It was released in 2014, I liked and enjoyed watching it again, this is known as The book of life. During the development of the film a situation occurs that leads us to reflection, as well as knowing how to make the right decisions in this life, which is not easy, however, are challenges that must be faced as quickly as possible.

   Saludos amantes de las películas, continuado con la serie de películas que descargue en mi teléfono, la tarde ayer me animé a ver una que tenía varios meses sin verla, ya que muy pocas veces la dan en la televisión, además tiene muchísimo de que hablar. Esta película abarca un poco de animación, comedia. Fue estrenada en el año 2014, me gusto y disfrute verla nuevamente, esta es conocida como El libro de la vida. Durante el desarrollo de la película ocurre una situación que nos lleva a la reflexión, así como también saber tomar las decisiones correctas en esta vida, cosa que no es nada fácil, sin embargo, son desafíos que hay que afrontarlos lo más rápido posible.

   This animated film takes place in one of the most important days in Mexico, the Day of the Dead, this called my attention when I saw it, to see how they enjoyed that celebration, to see the decorations, the family gathered and I even proposed to visit that place someday, because they are unique and unforgettable moments, it must be wonderful all the experience and memories of that place. As I was watching my excitement and curiosity increased, since the most awaited event for all the people who lived in that town was approaching, also we met a great family whose life has always been based around bullfighting, something that was great for me, because to do this requires a lot of practice and dedication. When I saw that part of the film I felt very happy because it is something that came from generation to generation. From that moment on I didn't miss a second of this movie.

   Esta película de animación se desarrolla en uno de los días más importante de México, el día de los muertos, esto me llamo mucho más la atención al momento de verla, ver como disfrutaban de esa celebración, ver los adornos, la familia reunida e incluso me propuse algún día poder visitar ese lugar, ya que son momentos únicos e inolvidables, debe ser maravilloso toda la experiencia y recuerdos de ese lugar. A media que fui viendo mi emoción y mi curiosidad aumentaban, puesto que se acercaba el evento más esperado para toda la gente que vivía en ese pueblo, además nos encontramos con una gran familia que su vida siempre se ha basado alrededor de los toros, algo que para mí fue genial, ya que para hacer esto se requiere de mucha práctica y dedicación. Cuando vi esa parte de la película me sentí muy contento porque es algo que venía de generación en generación. A partir de ese momento no me perdí ningún segundo de esta película.

   The main character is a young man named Manolo, where his interpretation was the best of the whole movie, in my opinion he is the best character, his way of being, his aptitude, his personality and another series of aspects that make him stand out as a good person and that earns the affection of everyone, in every moment of the film he puts a special touch which makes the person capture your attention. In addition, one of the things that I also liked is that he did not let himself be influenced by anyone, he did what he was most passionate about, during his life. This character really knew how to make the right decisions for his life, as he also knew how to manage and control all his fears, I think this is not easy, however, nothing is impossible to do, as this character could do it for us too.

   El personaje principal es un joven llamado Manolo, donde su interpretación fue la mejor de toda la película, en mi opinión es el mejor personaje, su manera ser, su aptitud, su personalidad y otra serie de aspecto que hacen resaltarlo como buena persona y que se gane el cariño de todo el mundo, en cada momento de la película le pone un toque especial lo cual hace que la persona capte su atención. Además, una de las cosas que también me gusto es que no se dejó llevar e influenciar por nadie, hizo lo que más le apasionaba, durante su vida. Este personaje de verdad que supo tomar las decisiones correctas para su vida, como también supo llevar y controlar todos sus miedos, creo que esto no es nada fácil, sin embargo, nada es imposible de hacerlo, como este personaje pudo nosotros también.

   Además, me di cuenta de que durante la película nos vamos a topar con otros personajes que también lo hace bien, sin embargo, son el tipo de personas que le tienen rencor a todo, se creen los mejores e incluso siempre quieren sobresalir para así poder llamar la atención de una de las chicas más hermosas de la ciudad, así como también ser el mejor torero. Sin embargo, al final siempre terminan perdiendo todo y se arrepiente por haber tomado este tipo de aptitudes durante su vida.

   Throughout the movie, it was impossible to take my eyes off the phone, it was very interesting and I realized the love that Manolo felt for music, it was his great passion, he could not take off his guitar, he went from one place to another playing and perfecting his music. It was truly one of the best decisions that young man ever made, he never gave up, he never gave up and never abandoned it during his whole life, even though his family did not like him and was very strict, for them it was not important. I was also amazed by all the adventures and challenges that this young man went through in order to make it.

   A lo largo de la película, fue imposible despegarme del teléfono, ya que estaba muy interesante y me di cuenta del amor que sentía manolo por la música, era su gran pasión, no podía despegarse de su guitarra, iba de un lado a otro tocando y perfeccionado su música. De verdad que fue una de las mejores decisiones que tomo ese joven, no se dio por vencido, no sé rindió y nunca lo abandono durante toda su vida, a pesar de que su familia no le gustaba y era muy estricta, para ellos eso no era importante. También quede sorprendido por todas las aventuras y desafíos que atravesó este joven para así poder lograrlo.

   One of the parts that I liked the most and perhaps many did not expect it and were surprised, like me, is when Manolo had to fight with a giant fire bull, it was really desperate to see that situation and even less to think that he had to do it alone, however, he was very confident, he felt sure of himself and the best thing is that he defeated it with a song, with a message of love and brotherhood. It was the best act of forgiveness that he did so that this animal could rest in peace.

   Una de las partes que más me gusto y quizás muchos no se la esperaban y se quedaron sorprendidos, como yo, es cuando manolo tuvo que luchar con un toro gigante de fuego, de verdad que fue muy desesperante ver esa situación y menos pensar que tenía que hacerlo solo, sin embargo, tenía mucha confianza, se sentía seguro de sí mismo y lo mejor es que lo derrotó con una canción, con un mensaje de amor y hermandad. Fue el mejor acto de perdón que hizo para que así este animal pudiera descansar en paz.

   The book of life teaches us to fight for every dream that we propose in this life, maybe some are fulfilled as others are not, but what it teaches is to never give up and continue without any fear, because the only thing that can happen is that you fall, but you get up and continue fighting.    El libro de la vida nos enseña a luchar por cada sueño que nos propongamos en esta vida, quizás algunos se cumplan como otros no, pero lo imparte es nunca rendirse y continuar sin tener ningún miedo, ya que lo único que pude pasar es que te caigas, pero te levantas y continúas luchando. Además, no dejarse llevar por comentarios de otros, sino hacerlo, con mucha seguridad y confianza, creer en nosotros mismos. También transmite valores como la humildad, el amor y el trabajo en equipo y sobre todo la unión familiar.

   Analysis

   This is an animated film, very beautiful as it also shows us a little of the Mexican culture on the day of the dead, this story begins in the day of the dead, which is where Catrina and Xilbana can be in the worlds of the living, Its protagonists leave us teaching.

   • Manolo is a young man who has to choose between his dream or continue the family tradition. There are many parents who impose on their children to continue with a dream that they could not realize, or a tradition of some profession or career, because their father's father were like this should continue.    The Book of Life came out in 2014.  It is a gem.  

   It only gross 99 million and in a world of Pixar and Disney movies that can gross that in an opening weekend, The Book of Life maybe considered a missed gem. 

   

   Directed by Jorge R Gutierrez and produced most notably by Guillermo del Toro.

   
   

   The movie begins with a bus of students from the “detention” center come visiting on field trip to a museum.  Because the date is November 2, the tour guide tells the students the story of The Day of the Dead.  One level is The Land of the Remembered, where those that passed away, below that is The Land of the Forgotten, those that have passed but no one remembers them.  Here people truly disappear forever.  The Land of the Remember is ruled over by La Muerte, and Xibalba rules The Land of the Forgotten, and apparently La Muerte and Xibalba are married.

   

   The tour guide tells the story of Manolo, Joaquin, and Maria are childhood best friends in Mexico.  Until one day while playing, Maria causes problems and is sent away to a boarding school in Spain.  Manolo and Joaquin are devastated.  Xibalba makes a bet with La Muerte about which boy will win Maria’s heart, and if Xibalba wins the bet, he no longer has to rule the Land of the Forgotten, he would rule the Land of the Remembered.  Xibalba bets that Joaquin will win, and La Muerte bets that Manolo will win Maria’s heart.

   Manolo wants to be a musician, but his family the Sanchez are famous bull fighters, and Manolo doesn’t believe that the bulls should be killed.  Joaquin is the son of a famous sheriff who dies while defending the town, and now the town expects Joaquin to protect them from the evil Chakal and his gang.

   

   Xibalba cheats on the bet by giving Joaquin the Medal of Everlasting Life.  Which become useful the Joaquin when he goes away and joins the military, and then comes home as a hero.

   Xibalba continues his cheating by having Maria being bit by a snake, and Manolo, believing that Maria is dead, is so distraught that he agrees that would he do anything to see Maria again.  So Xibalba tricks him and actually kills him sending him to the Land of the Remembered.  The story continues as Manolo meets his bull fighting ancestors.  Eventually Manolo is offered challenges to get back to the world of the living.  He earns his way back to the world of the living just in time to help defend the town from Chakal.

   The movie is told in visual layers.  During the field trip with the tour guide, the characters are made of flesh.  When the story is told of Manolo, Joaquin, and Maria, the characters are designed as wooden puppets.  When Manolo, goes to The Land of the Remembered, the Manolo is a decorated skeleton.  A creative way to remind the audience of where we are in the story.

   Director Jorge R. Gutierrez also adds a fun touch by adding famous pop songs that are updated for the Mexican style.  Songs, include “I Will Wait” by Mumford and Sons and , “Creep”from Radiohead and “You Got What I Need” by Biz Marke.

   The movie is beautiful to look at, and fun to listen to.  It’s a different sort of animated movie.  I recommend it for children five and up.  The element of death, would be something to consider when showing it to a child.  You can get it on Blu-Ray from Netflix.
