  1. Anime Review ~The Girl Who Leapt Through Time@seunruth385d

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, everywhere was so quiet, I could hear the birds chirping from a distance, the sounds of the trees as the winds swayed them and of course the weather was perfect for a book or a movie.

I was lying on my bed, scrolling through anime recommendations on Reddit when I stumbled upon a comment:

“If you ever want to cry about the beauty and pain of time, watch The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.”. I got interested so I searched for it, found a stream, and hit play.

I had no idea how emotionally attached I was about to become.

The plot was sweet and mundane. It centres on Makoto Konno, a cheerful and light-hearted high school girl who is simply fumbling about in life; ever late, ever clumsy, ever unsure of what she wants for the future. However, all this changes because one day she achieves the ability to jump in time.

Think about that a moment: time as a cassette tape, being able to rewind it.

Makoto got this power and begins messing around with this power, using it to arrive at school on time, to relive a karaoke session, to eat the pudding before anyone can (I am not making this up). However, as you will guess, each step up has its cost. She starts to understand that when she changes small things in her life, she actually changes big things in the life of other people.

And when it comes to love, friendship and choices-you cannot just hit rewind all the time.

The feeling was soft, nostalgic even in the first scene. It was all so real; the warm corridors of the school, the cool wind blowing among the trees, the far-away chirping of cicadas. So alive.

Makoto is so real. She is loud, goofy, awkward and you fall in love with her mess. The scene when she is running frantically in the streets (having literally run through time) was funny. Then, however, as the story went on, the laughter became hard knots in my breast.

And there is one scene (no spoilers, though) when it seems that time stops. And there in the frozen silence my heart stood still.

The animation is not glossy but smooth and earthy, like a painting on watercolor. The soundtrack? Soft piano notes that were floating into my ears like fallen petals.

The biggest takeaway for me was simple but powerful: time doesn’t wait for anyone.

We often think we’ll have time to fix things. To say sorry. To confess our feelings. To hold someone a little longer.

    But sometimes… time runs out.

Watching Makoto try to change outcomes, to make things perfect, only to realize that some things are meant to happen—that was heartbreaking and eye-opening. It reminded me that what we do now, in this very moment, matters.

The love story in this film is not the one that is loud and dramatic but quiet, tender and painfully beautiful. That type of love that develops gradually, the same way the heat of the sun on the skin.

Makoto is not even aware that she is falling in love with somebody until it is too late.

That hurt. Since in reality, we also lose our opportunity sometimes. And once it strikes you--what you no longer have--it strikes with a force.

Makoto has three friends, both guys. You believe they will stay together. Laughing. Making fun of one another. Coming home together on bikes. However, being a teenager is all about change. and sometimes letting go is the most difficult thing in life.

That's one thing that was so difficult for me when I was a teenager.

It is so sweet and sour. That sense of being able to know how something beautiful is impermanent.

I wanted to live better because of this movie. To quit waiting until the so-called right time. Not through time, but into the things which frighten me. Into the emotions that I was trying to escape. Into life itself.

One aspect that I have always loved about the world of anime is how often we can find works that manage to create a really good and exciting connection between a somewhat absurd and mostly comical background or scenes, with a much more dramatic, sentimental approach that, when you realize it, seems to drastically change the genre of the anime from one moment to the next. This is precisely something that, in my opinion, Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo does quite well. It is a 2006 film that, although perhaps not as popular as one might expect, has received very good reviews on sites such as Myanimelist and also presents us with a fun and quite unexpected time travel story.

The protagonist of this story is Makoto Konno, a young high school student who seems to be a bit careless in almost all aspects of her life and whose main passion seems to be playing baseball with her two friends Chiaki and Kosuke, who are in some ways polar opposites. Chiaki is a relaxed and fun young man, while Kosuke seems to be the most serious and focused of them all, popular, helpful, and very smart in his studies. On what seems to be a day with more bad luck than usual for Makoto, we see how she seems to have an encounter with a stranger in a science room and find a strange shell that gives her a very unexpected ability. At the end of this day, we see how Makoto, continuing with her bad luck, has a tragic accident and ends up dying on the train tracks.

    Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.mp4 - Reproductor multimedia VLC 8_6_2025 8_24_34 p. m..png

Although Makoto's luck seemed to have come to an end, it is here that his new ability and the central focus of the whole story appear: time travel. It seems that now, for some strange reason, Makoto is able to jump through time. By literally jumping very hard or into the void, she manages to go back or even forward in time, allowing her to change her past actions based on the new information she has about the future. Although at first she doesn't seem to know how to control this ability very well, it quickly becomes something very commonplace for her, and she can decide exactly which moment in the past to return to.

    Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.mp4 - Reproductor multimedia VLC 8_6_2025 8_24_50 p. m..png

At first, we see how she uses this jumping ability in a rather comical and even childish way, jumping back and forth in time over and over again to do such trivial things as singing multiple times with her friends at karaoke, being able to hit every pitch while playing baseball, being able to eat the food she wants, doing better on tests, and many other things. For a moment, the story seems to be a slice of life with time travel, but little by little it takes on a more serious tone as it begins to show the consequences of her time travel. Actions that may seem very simple and innocent end up causing big problems for both her and her friends and classmates. As her aunt tells Makoto, you never know who you are hurting when you make different decisions.

Something that caught my attention was how, at first, the ability to travel through time is presented as something so common and not at all strange. Makoto's aunt, whom she nicknames “witch,” seems to be a scientist, and for her, jumping through time is something extremely common, and she makes Makoto think so too, who soon loses her surprise at this ability. although it is also shown that she cannot jump through time infinitely and instead has a limited number of time jumps. As the film progresses, we see how the story takes on a more dramatic tone. Not only do we see how Makoto discovers that solving the problems he has created by jumping through time is not as easy as he thought, but he also discovers that he often ends up creating more problems than before.

    Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.mp4 - Reproductor multimedia VLC 8_6_2025 8_30_08 p. m..png

The ending becomes much more dramatic than expected, both because of emotional problems and because of the revelation of why Makoto can jump through time and how it seems that it is all thanks to a character who had this ability from the beginning. In the end, we see how Makoto matures in a way and, instead of being a rather carefree and distracted girl, she realizes her mistakes and ultimately faces with considerable serenity the great sadness that overwhelms her when the whole story ends. Although the ending is quite unexpected and, in a way, they try to explain everything in a very quick and simple way, it manages to tie together well how the time jumps began. In the end, Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo is a very emotional story, with moments of comedy and sentimental scenes, although the issue of time jumps is never made very clear.

    Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.mp4 - Reproductor multimedia VLC 8_6_2025 8_24_34 p. m..png

    Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.mp4 - Reproductor multimedia VLC 8_6_2025 8_24_50 p. m..png

    Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.mp4 - Reproductor multimedia VLC 8_6_2025 8_30_08 p. m..png

Oh time travel, what a fascinating and unique thing no matter what context we put it in. Week after week we are in search of movies that have given us something to talk about at the time and after several jumps on the internet I found this 2006 marvel directed by the great and well known Mamoru Hosoda. As I said the drama is not that I don't like it but if I can pass on it I will do it, the thing is that this film has something special besides the drama and it has that fantastic or mystical touch of the jumps in time along with all the problems that entails and that's where the hook that caught me was.

The story is as simple as you can imagine. Makoto is an ordinary girl who lives and studies in a city, she has friends, she is charismatic, she plays baseball but she has a problem: she is always late everywhere. Her friends, Chiaki and Kousuke seem to be inseparable, there are the typical jokes between them but you can tell that the relationship is very good and healthy, there is a real affection there. Everything was going well until one day Makoto experiences something strange, I didn't say it but another characteristic of her is that sometimes she can be a little clumsy, so thanks to this is that she realizes what she can do.

It turns out that our protagonist realizes that she can travel in time but to the past, specifically to the moment she decides. Obviously, having this ability, Makoto thinks she has her life solved, because if she has any problem, she jumps in time and that's it, everything is solved. But we all know that it doesn't work like that, that these actions have consequences even if she can't see them right away. As time goes by she will realize that the more she jumps the more she will complicate things around her and this is because she thinks only of her own benefit. From here on everything will be a kind of snowball that will grow as the consequences become innumerable and she will have to find a way to solve everything.

The story of the movie is very cool because even though it may be familiar it will always be interesting to see how time itself reacts. At the beginning everything starts off very calm but little by little things get complicated to the point that Makoto enters into a quite comical desperation because she is like that, a peculiar person. It's a film that doesn't get boring because things are always happening, every decision she makes is a problem that she will also have to solve, so seeing how she deals with that is interesting, sentimentally we see an evolution in her because she is rediscovering herself little by little.

The plot is very cool because it is not flat at all, in fact there is a plot twist that at least I didn't see coming at the end of the movie which is very good if you ask me. I think I enjoyed it because the whole film is a learning experience, there is a phrase that says: "Time waits for no one" and watching the film you realize that it is very real. Whatever you want to do or say the moment is now because in the end life takes many turns and that's what Makoto ends up paying a little. Also that you have to think a little about others, every action has a reaction that can hurt or harm another, hence to be more aware of how we act.

The animation is good, it's different but very well done, I liked it a lot, it's a little vintage if you want but that gives it a special touch, the colors, the details, the expressions on the people, the style, etc. The characters are also very well built. Makoto is very innocent but because of the "blows" she receives, she becomes more mature and clear about certain things, it's nice to see that evolution. And the friends, especially Chiaki has interesting details, they are perfect complements for her, their personalities are very similar so they get along without problems.

  4. Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo: A Simple and Entertaining Temporary Adventure@mig1875d

Hi Hive friends, today I bring you a movie I recently watched with my sister. We agreed to watch it because we both saw a picture on Facebook, and we wanted to distract ourselves a bit from our problems at the time. So we decided to watch "Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo" or as it would be in English the girl who jumps through time.

The movie focuses on the life of Makoto, a student with a careless and carefree personality. It all starts when Makoto meets Chiaki, who is also late for school. When they arrive at the classroom, they realize that the teacher has not yet arrived. Makoto thinks they are lucky, but then the teacher announces a surprise test. Makoto gets a bad grade and various problems befall her throughout the day, such as burning a pot in a cooking class or being accidentally hit by another student.

    https://31.media.tumblr.com/65c410e6cb8b263ec7c7f73dbce4c3a5/tumblr_mr6iee7kIe1sr5klvo1_500.gif https://24.media.tumblr.com/550ba4e914b12f0ecc6d1d550ebcd954/tumblr_mg2ttqV8np1rkdga9o1_500.gif

At the end of the school day, Makoto must take some questionnaires to a lab. As she enters, she witnesses the most important event of the film: she sees a strange nut-shaped object fall and, as she tries to pick it up, she senses that someone is nearby. Surprised, she falls on the object and goes into a trance or time travel. When she wakes up, she finds herself on the floor with the questionnaires. She then tells this to her friends, but they laugh at her. Although she doesn't care, they decide to play baseball together. While riding her bike home, she has to cross some railroad tracks on a downhill slope. She nearly collides with a lady and then realizes that the brakes on her bike are not working. In desperation, she tries to stop herself with her feet, but fails and hits the railing, being thrown into the train. At that moment, Makoto begins to analyze her day and realizes that if she had done something different she would not have died.

    https://archive.bleu255.com/aisukurimu/files/2013/09/The-Girl-Who-Leapt-Through-Time-1.gif https://archive.bleu255.com/aisukurimu/files/2013/09/The-Girl-Who-Leapt-Through-Time-3.gif

We see numbers receding and, after that event, Makoto wakes up and bumps into the lady, thus avoiding her death. She wonders what has happened and her aunt explains that she has traveled back in time, something that happens to girls her age, albeit with a different meaning. Makoto doesn't quite believe it and is left wondering what exactly she did to jump in time. She comes to the conclusion that a big jump can make her travel in time, so she decides to run at high speed and jump into a place by the water. In doing so, she rolls back to her home, confirming that she has succeeded in time travel. This is when we understand why the film is so named, and we will see how this brings about certain consequences.

The movie caught my attention because of the image I saw on Facebook, but it was not what I expected. I found it to be an average movie, mainly to watch it once and that's it. The plot is fairly simple and understandable, as it shows the consequences of time travel, but not in a way that is exaggerated or complicated to understand. I liked that about the film, that it addresses time-related issues in a minimal way. On the other hand, there is not much character development, that is, they are not given much work in that aspect, we are just introduced to them and that's it. Because of that, I didn't feel like I got attached or felt empathy for them. Also, I found it strange that the main character died simply because she had no brakes on the bike, when there were other options like jumping off the bike to avoid the accident. But, anyway, it's a movie. If you like time-travel movies with simpler consequences and a simpler plot, "Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo" is for you.

    https://31.media.tumblr.com/65c410e6cb8b263ec7c7f73dbce4c3a5/tumblr_mr6iee7kIe1sr5klvo1_500.gif https://24.media.tumblr.com/550ba4e914b12f0ecc6d1d550ebcd954/tumblr_mg2ttqV8np1rkdga9o1_500.gif
