  1. The King - Kings have no friends because they are always manipulated@cute-cactus799d

In medieval Europe, when the black plague ravages the land, Hal, a prince who has never embraced the royal life, is forced to be crowned as Henry V. In the light of the new developments that emerged while he was living a quiet life among the people, Hal, who had to return to the life he had given up, can be a good or bad example of how power can change a person. I can say that this is all about the perspective that can be provided by considering the conditions of the period.

I find the beginning of the story of The King important in terms of the dilemma that a person experiences during the journey from being a prince to a king and the times when he has to go back to what he has given up. As the story of the movie progresses, the change that Hal, the prince, and then Henry V. undergoes leaves people astonished.

In fact, they are the same person, but they are so different from each other in what they do and what they don't do that you wonder what has changed and you realize that the only difference you can find is the change between before and after he became King. I don't know who would be surprised by what human beings can do once they have power, but I'm not surprised because we have the opportunity to observe this every day in many areas.

The story of the movie and the transition scenes of the characters in the story make the movie valuable. The movie can be called a biography, but it fits into many genres in the sense that it focuses on the life of a person and the lives of those around him rather than presenting his life in a monotonous way. This distinguishes it from some boring biographies.

The movie The King not only focuses on the life of a King, but also on the war between the English and the French in medieval Europe. I enjoyed watching the intrigues that led to the war and the scenes of a King being manipulated. In movies about such historical events and wars, I like the intrigues inside the palace the most. I think no matter how successfully the battle scenes are shot, I am more interested in the intrigues inside the palace and the scenes of manipulation.

The harmony of the historical places where the movie takes place with the story is what attracted my attention the most while watching the movie. Thanks to the atmosphere created, it was quite easy to take the audience to the unknown history of the past. Of course, the costumes used in the movie have a lot to do with this, but I would still like to put the atmosphere created in the locations where the filming took place at the forefront.

The strategies that changed the course of the war proved how useful intelligence is, especially when weapons suitable for close combat are used. Intrigue, on the other hand, shows the fact that wherever there are people, it will not be difficult to maintain its existence. Even though the dates change, the consequences do not.

Timothée Chalamet, who plays Hal, was more humane and successful when he was a prince. After he became king, he was weak in the way he staged the change he underwent and reflected it in his dialogues. Perhaps his own internal reflection played a role in this. When he saw the truth and realized that he was being manipulated, the way he reflected the characteristics of his original character reminded me of the saying that good is good everywhere. I liked the scene where he comes to terms with his manipulator and the scene where he advises the girl he is about to marry to tell her every mistake to her face. I think it suited the movie and the story very well.

I recommend watching The King. The movie takes the viewer back to a historical time and creates a fascinating atmosphere. Instead of being interrogative, it shows the effect of personal conclusions that have always been and will continue to be in people's lives on the results.

Thank you for being here and reading. I wish everyone who is going to see it a good time and I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I did. Keep having a good weekend and goodbye!

Hello friends, I'm here with another fascinating movie I watched titled The King and I would like to share with you here.

The movie is about Young Henry V encounters deceit, war, and treachery after becoming King of England in the 15th century, in the aftermath of his brother's death.

It begins when the Prince of Wales, Hal, is the emotionally distant eldest son of King Henry IV of England.

He is uninterested in succeeding his father and spends his days drinking, whoring, and jesting with his companion Falstaff in East cheap.

Henry IV summons his son (Hal)and informs him that his younger brother Thomas will inherit the throne.

Thomas is sent to subdue Hot spur's Rebellion, but is upstaged by the arrival of Hal, who challenges Hot spur to single combat.

Although Hal kills Hot spur, ending the battle without further conflict, Thomas complains that he has stolen his glory. Shortly thereafter, Thomas is killed in battle after taking his campaign to Wales.

Henry IV dies in his bed with Hal present, and Hal is anointed King Henry V. Hal opts for peace and conciliation with his father's many adversaries, despite his actions being considered weakness.

At his coronation feast, the Dauphin of France sends Hal a ball as an insulting coronation gift. However, Hal chooses to frame this as a positive reflection of his boyhood.

Meanwhile, His little sister Philippa, now the Queen of Denmark, cautions that nobles in any royal court have their interests in mind and will never fully reveal their true intentions.

Hal interrogates a captured assassin who claims to have been sent by king Charles Vl of France to assassinate him.

The English nobles Cambridge and Grey are approached by French agents, hoping to induce them to the French cause. Their trust in the new young king wavers, and they then approach Hal's Chief Justice with their concerns.

Gascoigne advises Hal that a show of strength is necessary to unite England, so he declares war on France and has Cambridge and Grey beheaded.

He approaches Falstaff and appoints him as his chief military strategist, saying that Falstaff is the only man he truly trusts.

Furthermore, The English army sets sail for France. After completing the Siege of Harfleur, they continue on the campaign but are taunted by the Dauphin.

The English advance parties stumble upon a vast French army gathering to face them. Dorset advises Hal to retreat, but Falstaff proposes a false advance to lure the French to rush forward into the muddy battlefield, where they will be weighed down by their heavy armor and horses.

They will then be attacked by the English longbowmen and surrounded by a large, lightly armored flanking force hidden in the nearby woods.

Falstaff insists on leading the dangerous false advance as it was his plan, prompting Hal to challenge the Dauphin to single combat to decide the battle and minimize bloodshed; however, the Dauphin refuses.

The battle of Agincourt commences. Falstaff's plan works, the bulk of the French army charges to engage Falstaff's force and is soon mired in the mud.

Hal leads the flanking attack, and the outnumbered but far more mobile English army overpowers the immobilized French, though Falstaff is killed.

The Dauphin, still fresh and in heavy armor, reinvokes Hal's challenge but repeatedly slips and falls in the mud until he permits his soldiers to kill him.

Hal orders all French prisoners executed for fear that they might regroup, an order that Falstaff had refused to carry out following the Siege of Harfleur.

Find out what happened on Netflix as Hal orders the execution of all the French prisoners as the movie gets more interesting.

    Thanks for reading my content.

Hello movie lover friends, how are you all? Monarchy is the ancient political system of the world, where only members of the king's family have the right to rule a state or country. The world has been ruled by the succession of such monarchies for ages, but now, apart from a handful of countries, no real monarchy is seen anywhere.

In today's world, most of the countries are governed by democratic government system, but if we look closely, we will see that the countries are secretly continuing the monarchy in the name of democracy.

Those of us who love to read history must know about the reigns of various kings in history, their kingdoms and the lives of kings. I have read about many kings, but today I got to see and know about one more king and the real events of his kingdom through today's movie.

If a king engages in life-destroying wars without regard for his vast army and his subjects, the harm to his kingdom is greater than the good. A king with such a selfish mentality is harmful to a kingdom or country as well as to his own family. Which we can see and know through today's interesting movie. Movie Review:

In the movie we first learn that there is a war between England and France to occupy a place. After that, King Henry IV of England is shown holding a meeting and the king's conflict with the main army is seen. Also, since the king did not have any brave soldiers, he offered his two sons to fight, but the prince did not want to fight because of the distance between the elder son and the king.

Because a problem that can be solved by talking, the prince is not in favor of solving that problem by war. As a result, the king influenced his younger son to fight and to save the younger brother, the elder brother offered a one-to-one battle to win the battle and save the soldiers. The younger brother tried to fight with the soldiers and died in the battle, following the elder brother's decision.

At such a time, King Henry 4 dies of illness and Prince Hal is forced to take over the kingdom as King Henry 5. It is then seen that the chief justice of the kingdom tells the king of eternal enmity with France and asks him to go to war. When the king refused to fight, Chi Justice contrived to provoke the king to war with France and won the war by defeating France in a fierce and interesting battle. Soon after, King Henry V's marriage to the Princess of Funes saw the beginning of new friendly relations between England and France. But when the king learns of Chi Justice's plot, he maintains peace in the kingdom by killing him too.

    Comment:

In the history we get to know through the movie, we get to see and know a selfish king as well as a wonderful and intelligent king. I liked the movie, I hope you will like it too. So I will tell you to watch today's interesting movie and comment how you like the movie.

Thank you all so much for reading and knowing about today's historical movie.

  4. [ES-EN] Película Basada en Obras de Shakespeare: Rey // Film Based on Shakespeare's Writings: The King@joheredia211631d

    👑 The King (2019)⚔️

    👑 The King (2019)⚔️

    [English Version]

Hello cinephiles, it is a great pleasure to write again for all of you. Sometimes I go through the section of award-winning films in the great catalog of Netflix, I like to see some productions that are worthy of awards and that are accepted by critics, clarifying that I do not always agree with professional critics regarding their assessments on some films, however, in this section we can find some classic gems of the seventh art as well as good current productions, I have included in my content about movies this section that I find really interesting. This time I want to comment on a film inspired by works of William Shakespeare called King.

    Source

This is a 2019 movie, it is a drama set in the life of Henry V in the 15th century, an involving story around a young man who becomes king of England. Owned by Netflix being a participant in its production and of course in its distribution manages to make a film of Australian origin with very good acceptance especially in that region.

    Synopsis:

Hal, is a young prince who has a life diverted to the palace and the main affairs of royalty, his unbridled life is interrupted by the serious illness of his father, his duty is to rule England from very young and inexperienced in politics. Internal and external threats shake the thoughts of the new king and he must face them to achieve the stability of his people.

    Source

    Film Analysis

    William Shakespeare

It is undoubtedly one of the most recognized names of our history, this significant illustrious of the global culture performs works based on the life of this king, specifically Henry V, now, if adapting a literary work to the big screen is complicated, taking a work of Shakespeare to live action must make producers tremble, usually the outcome between the readers and the film work concludes with negative reviews, on the other hand, having the essence of Shakespeare in a film production in my opinion is attractive, causing great curiosity around the film.

    Source

I must confess that I am not a fervent reader of Shakespeare's works or this kind of readings, my focus, as well as I demonstrate in this post is mostly on the seventh art, so I do not know the differences between the literary works and Netflix's product. Perhaps the connoisseurs of his literary works on Henry V have a very different opinion than mine, knowing that Netflix is a money making machine and must adapt the complexity of literary works to a production suitable for the general public, having that aspect on the table we can intuit that the story can change both in plots and especially the dialogues.

Being a production based on Shakespeare's works, it definitely caught my attention, I wanted to watch a drama with a good story set in the past, perhaps this is the main attraction for many users of the platform.

    Source

    Politics

In my opinion this is the main aspect of the film, although the development as mentioned in the synopsis is of a young man who, with a life unbridled by the pleasures far from the palace, he wants the best for his people, to rule in a different way than his father and other corrupt kings that undoubtedly abound in history. Perhaps it is a common thought in the viewers, but true politics has different faces where doing the right thing is a rocky road full of obstacles and even thorns that hurt the king in this case.

This production shows us that other face of politics, where the king feels to do the right thing and the most benevolent not only for his people but also for the benefit of other nations, avoiding war is one of those plans that he desires but that does not seem possible before the ambitions of others who sit in power, people sitting as far away as those who rub shoulders with the king.

    Source

In my opinion, this drama immersed in politics is quite attractive, making us feel that the path of politics is always complicated even though the intentions are the best, peace is so fragile that there is always a short way to conflict. This is what the film conveys in a very good way.

    Photography and Setting

This is another of those aspects that favor this film, its photography is quite good with a color palette with a dark tone highlighting the setting. This production is very well set, impeccable costumes, armor of the warriors in some cases with good landscapes around, it is a good technical work from my point of view.

    Source

    Action

Although we enjoy some action scenes, this is not the predominant genre in the film, although the action and battles are introduced in a good way and generate that sense of political instability and its consequences on the battlefields. The battles are not as commercially fascinating, but in my opinion they complement in a good way the dramatic story that sustains the film.

    Source

    Acting

This film includes a good cast, with Timotheé Chamalet's performance being significant and outstanding, the young protagonist gives a very good performance with a clear focus on his character, the looks and gestures especially in moments of silence make him stand out on screen, something I find quite difficult. I think this young actor of only 26 years old who for this production was obviously younger has a formidable acting career ahead of him, getting important roles and proving his quality. I am sure we will see more productions and memorable performances from Chamalet. This young actor will be seen in an adaptation of a classic film called Wonka in 2023 playing Willy Wonka as a young man, let's hope it will be a quality and entertaining work.

    Source

A character that in my opinion was left over? (My Opinion)

In my opinion the character played by Robert Pattinson called the Dauphin, is a character that perhaps is out of that dramatic tension at times, an irreverent character in exaggeration and with a tone of mockery confronts the king of England. As I mentioned before I have no knowledge of Shakespeare's works and I do not doubt his work, however, I think that in the film this character does not seem appropriate, I would have preferred an antagonist more entrenched in strategy than in mockery being a rather difficult opponent than the Dauphin.

    Source

    Score:

    7.9 ⭐️

    Final Opinion

I find it a very good film with good direction by David Michôd, a film with a different flavor to what Netflix usually offers in its own productions to the public, being a little less commercial, but granting an interesting adaptation of a Shakespeare play, evidently narrated for a wide audience. In my opinion it is an interesting historical drama film and worth watching. Even though its awards are not that prestigious it is a production that deserves to be in the award winning movies section on Netflix.

I like historical movies set in the middle ages, always the clash of swords and the atmosphere of medieval is appealing from my perspective. I think this movie is not a great work of art, but it delivers to the viewer. Perhaps it leaves in the background the action and battles in much of the plot overlapping the dramatic genre, but even with this aspect I think it can be a film for the general public.

    Source

    Do I recommend it?

Yes, it is an involving story accompanied by intrigue and good performances, a medieval political story that is sure to capture the attention helped by its good photography, it is an interesting drama that even places us to reflect on the high political positions and the threats that entails. It should be noted that it is not an action adventure film, however, it can be an interesting film for a large segment of the audience.

    Source

It is a pleasure to write for all of you, I hope this post will be of a good reference for this production. Of course, keeping in mind that everything previously written is under my own individual vision and perspective. I am attentive to your comments and opinions about this film.

    OPINION

I had saved this movie for a while, just because Robert Pattinson was there, since I saw The Lighthouse I was delighted with his work and I looked for more films about him, leaving this on my list to see it at the right time. The King is a film based on Shakespare books, with a script written by David Michôd, taking some of the scenes from the books into a two-hour film.

A film based on a Shakesparent book, set in medieval times, with the interpretation of Robert and Timothée, were several of the signs that told me that this film could be a work of poetry with well-choreographed fights, but it was all a disappointment. In the first part of the film we see the spiteful prince Hal, inexperienced, without knowing very well what to do, wanting only the peace of his people, with other nations, but the other commanders only want to fight.

In the second, we see how Hal is driven by hatred, by pride, doing things without thinking or considering it, giving at the end the sight of a king who does not know what to do, this is not so bad at first glance, it is a Different point of view from what we have already seen, here we see a careless and pretentious king, a beginning of a young king. But the simplicity of how it can be shown makes the movie tasteless, it is as if we were watching another episode of Game Of Thrones.

The fighting scenes are silly, they just fall to the ground and try to stab the other, those scenes were had been enough if they didn't have a war where they were fights in the ground of who could stab the other, in addition to not having a different distinctive between sides, the armor was the same, they had no flags to differentiate themselves, so they could be stabbing a comrade without knowing it, it was an unplanned scene or very simple planned to focus on the supposed development of the young king.

I have always had the belief that cinema, art or music should be understood by a great majority, not only those who analyze it and look for a reason for being, if so, it would be consumed by few, this film would Sometimes it seeks to be analyzed and understood, but it seems to be done with little effort, so it is not possible to know if that was the director's motive or he simply did a bad job. What do you think?

  6. Reseña fílmica: The King (2019)@vickaboleyn2249d

    Ojo: Puede contener spoilers.

  8. The King (film): Almost a great movie@gooddream2428d

While this film contains some factual information about events that took place during the Hundred Years' War, most of the film is fiction or based on various plays including some Shakespearean stuff - don't let that word scare you off, none of the dialogue is delivered in sonnets or anything.

Although it wasn't the specific intention originally to make it a Netflix exclusive, that is what it has become after a short run in just a few cinemas. Basically, the film has good and bad aspects to it and I'm kinda on the fence about whether or not to recommend this one.

As always i try to avoid spoilers but if you truly want to go into a film blind, it might be better to skip this or all reviews for that matter

    thekingposter.jpg source

The plot all centers around the rise of Henry V's rise to the throne and what happens thereafter. I do not know which parts of this are true and which parts of it are fiction so I'll just steer clear of that and say that at least from a cinematography point of view the early stuff, which is mostly about squabbling among royals, is done extremely well. The acting is sound, the lighting / costumes / sets are magnificent, and the music is perfect to build tension. However, it does start, even at an early part of in the film to seem as though most of the major players in this film, are very small and not believable as warriors.

    theking.png source

I have no idea how big the actual King Henry was and I don't think anyone else does either, but 23 year old Timothée Chalamet is so "skinny-jeans skinny," that I just don't find it very believable any time he is involved in a fight. Whatever! I suppose it isn't important.

I think the underlying message of this film is the fact that "Henry" was very opposed to war, especially the ongoing battles with France that have existed all his life (which leads to a great deal of turmoil with his war-mongering father) but upon rising to the throne through the only possible avenue of succession, he quickly becomes at odds of actively pursuing the very battles that he loathed previously. I suppose it could be a "coming of age" combined with "power corrupts everyone eventually" type message.

    [source](https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article20388854.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/0_The-King-review-pix-and-Main.jpg)

If figuring out deep, underlying moral lessons in creative dialogue-driven scenes isn't your thing then you'll be pleased to learn that there are some large battles that take place (several of them.) One of these battles is a Hundred Years' War battle that I actually have heard of: The Battle of Agincourt.

Even though they did put a lot of production value into these war scenes, I can't help but feel a little like they sometimes appear to be budget versions of Game of Thrones battles. In most of the skirmishes, they seem as though they maybe didn't have as much money as they would have liked to have had.

This is particularly noticeable when we start looking at the number of people actually on the battlefields. It's still entertaining, don't get me wrong, but at times they just seem kind of cheap.

Perhaps this is because Game of Thrones is still on everyone's mind and you can't tell me that this wasn't at least part of the equation when deciding whether or not to make The King at all. There is also the fact that Brad Pitt is a producer and Johnny Depp's daughter is involved.

    robert_pattinson_the_king.jpg
    source

One of the best performances came in the form of Robert Pattinson who plays the role of a French Royal named The Dauphin. His arrogance and insolence is done so well that I almost forgave Robert for "Twilight."

    from the official [Netflix](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWOA1ZGywLbqmigxE4Qlvuw) channel

Overall, i believe this film is decent but not great. It does get terribly boring at times and even though he is a fine actor, Timothée Chalamet's constant brooding acting style (seems like he is about to either cry or break something at all times) starts to seem a bit tiresome after an hour or so.

I also have a hard time believing that such tiny people would be capable of being any sort of intimidating physical force. I tend to believe that these whisper-thin baby-faces would be handled the same way that Paris was handled in Troy if we were being truly realistic.

If you are in to historical dramas, and generally I am, this might be for you. However, I believe you will end up in a similar situation that I did when I was frequently looking at my phone to get through the sometimes drawn-out dialogue bits, particularly at the beginning. Actually, i think that is really the only way I can recommend this film without encouraging the use of a remote control to skip some of it.

    Overall rating!
