Welcome dear internet travelers and thanks for making a temporary stop in my post, as you know I have already made several reviews of current horror movies and unfortunately all of them have been a disgrace and disgrace to the genre; I'm a masochist and I still have hopes of getting a decent one but today it won't be the case since the film that brings us together is "The Manor", something that is embarrassing. Get ready because we are about to visit the most boring mansion that exists.

Bienvenidos queridos viajeros del internet y gracias por hacer una parada temporal en mi post, como sabrán ya he hecho varias reseñas de películas de terror actuales y lamentablemente todas han sido una desgracia y deshonra para el género; soy masoquista y sigo teniendo esperanzas de conseguir una decente pero hoy no será el caso puesto que la cinta que nos reúne es "The Manor" algo que da vergüenza ajena. Alístense que estamos por visitar a la mansión más aburrida que existe.

The Manor was released in 2021, directed by Axelle Carolyn and produced by Blumhouse Television, it has a duration of 1 hour and 21 minutes. It is a horror film that focuses on Judith Albright, a 70-year-old woman who in her glory days was a dancer and after having to stop doing what she liked because of her age, she dedicated herself to her music school, all that is gone to hell when she suffered a stroke and her family decided that the best thing for her would be to be transferred to a nursing home where she would always have someone to take care of her. As she gets used to her new normal, she begins to notice strange and paranormal events that make her doubt her sanity.

The Manor fue estrenada en 2021, dirigida por Axelle Carolyn y producida por Blumhouse Television, posee una duración de 1 hora y 21 minutos. Es una cinta de terror que enfoca a Judith Albright una mujer de 70 años quien en sus días de gloria fue una bailarina y tras tener que dejar de hacer lo que le gustaba por su edad se dedicó a su escuela de música, todo eso se fue al demonio cuando sufrió un derrame cerebral y su familia decidió que lo mejor para ella sería ser trasladada a un asilo en el que siempre tendría alguien que cuidase de ella. Mientras se acostumbraba a su nueva normalidad se empieza a percatar de sucesos extraños y paranormales que la hacen dudar de su cordura.

I will not highlight any character since the information that is given about them is extremely scarce and they feel like absolute strangers, it is common for the protagonists of horror films to be boring but in this film they went too far to show some fucking stones as main actors.

No destacare a ningún personaje puesto que la información que se da de ellos es sumamente escasa y se sienten como unos desconocidos absolutos, es común que los protagonistas de las cintas de terror sean aburridos pero en esta película fueron demasiado lejos al mostrar a unas jodidas piedras como actores principales.

The soundtrack is a joke poorly told and lacking in grace, it is used in an absurd way and does not help to generate an atmosphere in accordance with the theme of the film.

La banda sonora es un chiste mal contado y carente de gracia, es empleada de forma absurda y no ayuda a generar un ambiente acorde con el tema de la cinta.

The construction of the world is dull as hell, since it is only limited to exposing a boring mystery that tries to be explained in a vague way, in addition, everything it raises is generic and has been better developed in other tapes in a much better way

La construcción de mundo es sosa como el carajo, puesto que solo se limita a exponer misterio aburrido que trata de ser explicado de forma vaga, además, todo lo que plantea es genérico y ha sido mejor desarrollado en otras cintas de una forma muchísimo mejor.

The plot is slow and never establishes what he wants until the end of the film. Firstly, it pretends to be something psychological by exposing how the protagonist's opinion is being less and less listened to and gradually loses her credibility due to her age; if the film had followed that course it would have been something interesting but it converges in something supernatural and mysterious that is worked in a disastrous and totally boring way and very unfortunately sins by not being scary at all since the suspense scenes are done in a horrible way and terror is absent. The film tries to give turns of Turkish but honestly the surprise is totally boring, I have to admit that the conclusion of the film is unexpected but having been a mess most of the time it loses all its impact.

La trama es lenta y nunca establece que quiere sino hasta el final de la cinta, primeramente pretende ser algo psicológico al exponer como la opinión de la protagonista va siendo cada vez menos escuchada y va perdiendo paulatinamente su credibilidad debido a su edad; si la película hubiese seguido ese rumbo hubiese sido algo interesante pero converge en algo sobrenatural y misterioso que es trabajado de forma nefasta y totalmente aburrida y muy desgraciadamente peca de no dar miedo en lo absoluto puesto que las escenas de suspenso son hechas de forma horrible y el terror se queda ausente. La cinta intenta dar giros de turca pero sinceramente la sorpresa es totalmente aburrida, he de admitir que la conclusión de la película es inesperado pero al haber sido un bodrio la mayor parte del tiempo este pierde todo su impacto.

I have noticed that for some reason it has become common to put elderly people as the protagonists of horror films, something that may be interesting but has been used in a horrible way. This film is a good example since only their age characterizes them, an attempt is made to give personality to the protagonist but she is only victimized by everything she has lost due to her age, although it could have been a good way to delve into the character is wasted as the only thing that defines her. The rest of the characters are just filler and the villains are more of the same since they're just bad for no reason, the worst thing about it is that they do what they do for absurd and immature reasons, making them more clowns than anything more serious.

He notado que por algún motivo se ha vuelto común el poner a ancianos como protagonistas de las cintas de terror algo que puede resultar interesante pero que ha sido empleado de forma horrible. Esta película es un buen ejemplo puesto que solo los caracteriza su edad, se hace un intento por darle personalidad a la protagonista pero solo es victimizada por todo lo que ha perdido debido a su edad, si bien pudo haber sido una buena forma de profundizar en el personaje se desperdicia al ser lo único que la define. El resto de personajes son simple relleno y los villanos son más de lo mismo puesto que solo son malos porque sí, lo peor del asunto es que hacen lo que hacen por razones absurdas e inmaduras haciéndolos más unos payasos que otra cosa más seria.

The Manor follows the pattern of many current horror films by being lacking in suspense and having zero tension, instead of causing fear in the viewer, it generates boredom and sleep. Therefore it deserves 1 star out of 7, it is part of the long list of current horror movies that are a disgrace to the genre and that are embarrassing.

The Manor sigue el patrón de muchas películas de terror actuales al ser carentes de suspensos y tener nula tensión, en vez de provocar miedo al espectador genera aburrimiento y sueño. Por lo tanto merece 1 estrella de 7, forma parte de la larga lista de películas de terror actuales que son una desgracia para el género y que dan vergüenza ajena.

The Manor to interesujące dzieło, które sprawnie bawi się widzem, co rusz podrzucając mu mylna wskazówkę. To film, który trzyma w napięciu i ciężko odróżnić co może być prawdziwe, a co urojeniem. Scenariusz to mocna rzecz tej produkcji bo jest konsekwentny i posiada w sobie mały, ale istotny plot twist, który wywraca cała fabule o 180 stopni. Jak już dobrze wiecie lubię filmy o różnych ośrodkach czy to odwykowych czy pomagających w anoreksji.

Dziś znalazłem film, który wpisuje się w te ramy gdyż opowiada o domu spokojnej starości. Plusem tego dzieła jest budowanie napięcia, które jako widzowie czujemy się niczym detektywi co tam się dzieje i jak to się zakończy. Sam finał zaskoczył mnie, ale patrząc racjonalnie chyba wielu z nas wybrało by taka ścieżkę jak główna bohaterka choć ścieżka ta jest pełna zła.

Film opowiada o Judith która na przyjęciu urodzinowym doznaje lekkiego udaru i zostaje umieszczona w domu spokojnej starości w Manor. Początkowo wszystko idzie normalnie. A Judith zaprzyjaźnią się z personelem i pensjonariuszami , jednak w nocy dzieją się dziwne i zagadkowe rzeczy, które powodują, ze Judith zaczyna wątpić w to co widzi. Film daje widzowi zagadkę i tak miesza by widz poczuł się równie zagubiony niczym bohaterka, jednak pod koniec karty są odsłonięte i jako widzowie czujemy satysfakcję, ze wszystko wyjaśniono w taki sposób. To nie jest zwyczajny horror to horror, który czerpie garściami z dramatów ludzi starszych, jednakże nie stara się robić z nich puste kukły, ale owy horror nadaje im pewnych nowych walorów.

Niektórzy mogą odczuć tutaj pewna inspiracje horrorem, który był swego czasu popularny o młodej parze co przyjeżdża do domu rodziców, jednak w tym filmie jest to inaczej przestawione a cała otoczka mistycyzmu jest aż do końca. Wracając jeszcze do finału to uważam ze jest jednym z ciekawie zrobionych bo przecież każdy ma Marzenia

In conclusion, I was very surprised by the film, the actors are good and the story is interesting.

I give it the note of 6.2 / 10.

C'est un film d'horreur américain qui est sortie en 2021 du type supernaturel.

En résumé, une grand-mère subit une attaque cardiaque et est placée dans une résidence de personne âgée. Elle se rend compte que trois personnes qui ont le même âge sont plus en forme qu’elle et elle enquête là-dessus…

En conclusion, j’ai été très surpris par le film, les acteurs sont bons et l’histoire est intéressante.

Je lui donne la note de 6.2/ 10.

This movie that I come to bring to you seemed like a good choice at first glance but then it dwindled into something clumsy and boring. It's the kind of film that audiences look for to be entertained, without a complex story and characters that most might be able to connect with. Personally, I felt that kind of connection at first, but this film didn't leave me with a good taste, mainly because it didn't want to go a little deeper into the inhospitable paradigms of its mystery. I also think it had very good resources that it could have taken advantage of very well, but not even that, there are so many things to talk about if we are dealing with the classic haunted places genre.

Esta película que vengo a traerles a ustedes parecía una buena opción a la vista pero que luego fue mermando a algo torpe y aburrido. Es de ese tipo de películas que el público busca para entretenerse, sin una historia compleja y personajes con los que la mayoría quizás logre conectarse. Personalmente, sentí al principio esa clase de conexión, pero este filme no me fue dejando buen sabor, sobre todo por no querer adentrarse un poco más en los inhóspitos paradigmas de su misterio. Pienso también que tuvo recursos muy buenos que pudo aprovechar muy bien, pero ni eso, hay tantas cosas de que hablar si tratamos sobre el clásico género de lugares encantados.

Synopsis
Judith Albright is an elderly woman who, after suffering a stroke, moves into a nursing home with a very unique historical architecture. There, she is stripped of her cell phone and is placed in a room with a woman who appears to have dementia. Soon, Judith realizes that strange things are going on in the place, and that both the staff and the residents know more than they let on. Will she survive this place full of lethal mysteries and prove to both her family and the people around her that she is not crazy?

Judith Albright, es una mujer de la tercera edad que después de sufrir un derrame cerebral, se muda a un asilo de ancianos con una arquitectura histórica muy singular. En el lugar, es despojada de su teléfono celular y es acomodada para compartir habitación junto a una mujer que aparenta tener demencia. Pronto, Judith se da cuenta que en el lugar pasan cosas extrañas, y que tanto el personal como los residentes, saben más de lo que aparentan. ¿Logrará sobrevivir a este lugar lleno de letales misterios y probarles tanto a su familia como a las personas que la rodean que no está loca?

Personal opinion
As I had placed in my introduction, the film seemed like a good proposal with an interesting story and a protagonist they could squeeze more juice out of, but throughout the plot it all descended into a dark abyss, with a gross sequence that didn't know where to latch on to, and with a strange preference of its director to her own film not to unravel much more of the enigma she herself had created.

All of this was needlessly condensed to create a Scooby Doo style supernatural mystery story, which except for Barbara Hershey's performance, the rest was a total failure that couldn't ultimately connect with its audience. The reviews, for the most part were not entirely good, you can look them up on the various movie websites. Personally I didn't like it at all, the only thing that touched me was the relationship between the main character and her grandson, I did like that and maybe it would have been one of the points that the movie would have brought out much more.

The script I didn't buy it at all, a 70 year old woman who would rather be in a nursing home than in her own home, I'm sorry, but the argument the movie gives wasn't strong enough. That's another problem I had a hard time understanding in the plot and it generated several questions for me: what is this about? Is it a horror movie that deals with Scandinavian mythology? Or is it a criticism towards nursing homes where their staff treats their residents badly? Or is the whole theme in particular about youth and how degrading it is to be old? I really didn't understand what direction the movie wanted to go in, and its ending just made everything worse.

As a horror movie, it really didn't impress at all. For a person like me who has seen and read so many plots and stories in both literature and film, this represented nothing new to me. The plot was predictable, as it unfolded, I had the feeling that I had seen this before. The only thing I liked, as I asserted before, was the performance of Hershey, who did a good job of giving a particular expressiveness to her character, but at the same time I felt she was held back too much, perhaps by the director or the exposed shots in the photography.

Opinión personal
Como había colocado en mi introducción, la película parecía una buena propuesta con una historia interesante y una protagonista a la que podían exprimirle más el jugo, pero a lo largo de la trama todo fue descendiendo a un abismo oscuro, con una secuencia bruta que no sabía dónde agarrarse, y con una extraña preferencia de su directora a su propio filme de no desentrañar mucho más el enigma que ella misma había creado.

Todo esto fue condensado inútilmente para crear una historia de misterio sobrenatural al estilo de Scooby Doo, que exceptuando la actuación de Barbara Hershey, el resto fue un fracaso total que no pudo conectar en definitiva con su audiencia. Las críticas, en su mayoría no fueron del todo buenas, pueden buscarlas en los diferentes sitios web sobre cine. Personalmente no me gustó del todo, lo único que si me conmovió, era la relación que había entre la protagonista principal y su nieto, eso sí me gustó y quizás, hubiera sido uno de los puntos que la película hubiera sacado a relucir mucho más.

El guion no me lo creí para nada, ¿una mujer de 70 años que prefiere estar en un asilo que en su propia casa?, lo siento, pero el argumento que da la película no fue lo suficientemente fuerte. Ese es otro problema que me costó entender en la trama y me generó varias preguntas: ¿De qué se trata esto? ¿Es una película de terror que trata sobre la mitología escandinava? ¿O es una crítica hacia los asilos de ancianos donde su personal trata mal a sus residentes? ¿O todo el tema en particular trata sobre la juventud y lo degradante que es ser viejo? De verdad no entendí a qué dirección quería ir la película, y su final lo único que hizo es empeorarlo todo.

La verdad que como película de terror no causaba nada de impresión. Para una persona como yo que ha visto y leído tantos argumentos e historias tanto en la literatura y el cine, esto no representaba nada nuevo para mí. La trama era predecible, a medida que se iba desenvolviendo, tenía la sensación de que ya había visto esto antes. Lo único que me gustó, como aseveré antes, fue la actuación de Hershey, quien hizo un buen trabajo al darle una expresividad particular a su personaje, pero a la vez sentía que estaba muy retenida, quizás por parte del director o los planos expuestos en la fotografía.

Conclusions
The Manor, looks more like a family movie that wouldn't even scare the little ones. It has clumsy plots that don't convince anyone, with a story that they could have gotten more out of but for some reason they didn't, maybe because of the lack of budget although I highly doubt it, there are low budget movies and series that know how to take advantage of resources and create decent cinematography. All in all, it was not a good choice to watch one night, as I felt like I only watched it with my partner to have a good time instead of recognizing the artwork of the film (which had none). I definitely wouldn't recommend it, plus it's not entertaining, but I'm sure there is an audience that would like to have a good time with this film.

Conclusiones
The Manor, parece más bien una película familiar que no asustaría ni a los más pequeños. Tiene argumentos torpes que no convencen a nadie, con una historia a la que le pudieron sacar más el jugo pero por alguna razón no lo hicieron, quizás por la falta de presupuesto aunque lo dudo mucho, hay películas y series de bajo presupuesto que saben aprovechar los recursos y crear una cinematografía decente. En definitiva, no fue una buena opción para ver una noche, pues sentía que solo la vi con mi pareja para pasar un buen rato en vez de reconocer el trabajo artístico del filme (el cual no tenía ninguno). Definitivamente no la recomendaría, además que no es entretenida, pero estoy seguro que hay un público al que le gustaría pasar un buen momento con este filme.
