Welcome my dear internet travelers who love suspense and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, there are films that from the beginning feel more ambitious than the rest, either because of their premise and/or the way in which it is developed, this preamble perfectly describes the film "Number 23" which has a mysterious air that feels simply fantastic. Without further ado, get ready to read a very suspicious book as we are about to begin.

Number 23 was released in 2005, directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Contrafilm, it has a duration of 1 hour and 38 minutes. It is a psychological suspense film, we are told the story of Walter Sparrow, an animal control worker, he is married to the owner of a pastry shop with whom he has a son, a series of events happen to him on his birthday. that delay him to the point that he is late with his wife, which gives him enough time for her to choose and give him a book for his birthday, almost as if a superior force were pulling the strings so that said object falls into his hands , being that it has a suspicious number of similarities with his life and a very particular number that is constantly repeated.

The soundtrack is nice, it is not something that is spectacular or extremely amazing, it is present without doing anything special.
La banda sonora es agradable, no es algo que sea espectacular ni extremadamente asombroso, se encuentra presente sin hacer nada del otro mundo.

The construction of the world fulfills its mission to the point that it adds details that are drawing the viewer's attention as they are elements in line with the narrative of the film, this is aligned with what the plot wants to capture, although it does not really expand what is exposed. , it only affirms it. This causes the setting to be on the same page as the plot of the film but does not dare to add things to complement it a bit.

The plot has both good and bad elements, right off the bat it feels serious and quite confusing because it tries to maintain a level of suspense, the problem with this is that it takes a long time to provide information to better understand the film, and Also, when it starts to devalue things too late to the point that it doesn't feel progressive but forced. This leaves us with an interesting and very psychological premise that is not developed in a good way and only achieves a forced and inorganic advance.

The characters are completely forgettable, there is no time to give them a decent focus, so all the revelations and turkish turns that they star in lose their level of importance and value, the above is due to the fact that at no time do you manage to feel empathy for them. them because they feel completely distant and unknown.

Number 23 is a film that had a premise with incredible potential which fails to have a correct development for all the good ideas that the film contained, even though many of the elements it exposes feel incomplete thanks to its poor development. That is why it deserves a rating of 2.5 stars out of 7, it was good to see Jim Carrey get out of his comfort zone in terms of his performance, although it is sad that it was not something moderately remarkable.

  2. The Number 23 (film): Honestly much better than I expected@gooddream2521d

I had avoided watching this movie until yesterday because of some information I received about it not being very good. I definitely disagree with the information that I got and thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

    [source](http://www.impawards.com/2007/posters/number_twenty_three_ver2.jpg)

This film came out in 2007 and this was a time when Jim Carrey was really trying to break the stigma of his being type-cast as a whimsical actor specifically designed for comedy. There have been a number of attempts on Jim's part and some were good, others not so much. I think that the hardest part for him is that his silly movies like Ace Ventura and what not, are always going to be what we think of when we see him, so it is difficult to take him seriously.

    hZAqG.png source

However, i was pleasantly surprised by Jim's performance, even the parts where he is playing a bad ass detective with tattoos and what not. He is convincing and I was impressed.

This movie was ripped apart by critics, Richard Roeper was one of the only professional critics who claimed he liked it. The complaints that critics had about it was that it was confusing and lacked any style. I gotta say that I completely disagree with this. I enjoyed the flashbacks that Jim Carey was experiencing as he visualized the scenes in the books he was reading.

The gradual fascination with the number 23 was pretty interesting to me. I kept looking for places in which the number would appear as well and actually noticed something that the didn't point out in the film, which is that the only numbers on their license plate adds up to 23 as well.

There is a twist ending that I guess not many people appreciated, but I actually did like it. I dunno, I guess all the people that hated it just saw this film in a different way than I did.

I normally am one of those people that can't get on board with whatever film happened to win all the accolades from critics not the other way around. I don't really understand why everyone felt this movie was terrible. Oh well, I guess I am happy to not be the same as everyone else.

I suppose if you went into this film with the same expectations as I did that you might be pleasantly surprised. I went in believing that it was going to be absolute crap and was impressed with how not-crap it was. I suppose you really need to pay attention. I dunno. whatever. I liked it.
