Cette série sud-coréenne, composée de 8 épisodes, est arrivée sur Netflix en 2021.
Je vous avais bien dit qu'Ithara trouverait le moyen de m'emmener à nouveau dans l'Espace !
Au moins 2 des acteurs ont joué dans Squid Game, la fameuse série sud-coréenne qui a influencé les "jeux" lors des récréations de nos jeunes, et se sont retrouvés dans cette série : Gong Yoo qui interprète ici le commandant Han Yoon-jae et Heo Sung-tae qui interprète Kim Jae-seon, directeur de l'équipe Korea Aerospace Resources.
Synopsis :
L'eau sur Terre se raréfie, tout le monde n'y a pas accès au même niveau. Chacun a une carte qui lui donne droit à une certaine quantité d'eau.
Le réchauffement climatique a, en effet, fait son œuvre, entraînant la désertification et le manque de nourriture pour tout le monde.
L'agence aérospatiale a donc décidé d'explorer la Lune, en vue d'y trouver de l'eau ou une quelconque piste pour en avoir à volonté et elle y a installé une énorme station, contenant différentes zones de stockage, plusieurs laboratoires, etc.
L'agence doit envoyer une équipe en mission dans cette station, abandonnée depuis 5 ans pour des raisons propres à l'agence. Parmi les membres de cette équipe, il y a une femme-médecin Dr Hong, un capitaine/commandant, des mécaniciens, un informaticien, des assistants et le Dr Song que l'on suit en particulier et qui est astrobiologiste.
La mission consiste en la récupération d'un échantillon dont l'agence ne veut rien dévoiler, prétendant qu'ils n'en savent rien de plus que le fait qu'il puisse être la clé pour la survie de l'humanité.
Le commandant fait passer la sécurité de son équipe en premier, suivi de très près par la mission en elle-même. Malheureusement, au gré de leurs découvertes sur place, ils ne pourront négliger certains paramètres s'ils veulent s'en sortir.
Mon avis :

Réaliser un film ou une série se passant dans l'Espace implique de penser à plusieurs choses (gravité, atmosphère, ..). Si j'en parle, vous vous doutez qu'il y a encore des progrès à faire dans cette série.
Le sujet développé est néanmoins original et mérite d'avoir été scénarisé.
Netflix déconseille cette série aux moins de 16 ans, signale un langage parfois grossier et des scènes de violences.
Qu'avez-vous pensé de cette série sud-coréenne si vous l'avez regardée ?

En realidad la serie tiene un contexto de una dicotomía ¡Un mundo irreal donde evidentemente no desearía vivir un humano! Volviendo a nuestros dos actores protagonistas, ellos poseen personalidades totalmente opuestas dentro de la serie, pero lo más transcendental son las discrepancias en posturas… En este punto debo aclarar que Bae Doona interpreta el papel de la científica Song Ji An y Gong Yoo el de Han Yoon Jae el responsable del embarque de la misión a la luna.

Me parece una interesante serie para pasar un momento emocionante, un fin de semana, o un día en el que desee distraerse. La producción es exquisita y las escenas se sienten tan únicas debido a la alta resolución, aunque me fuera gustado ver un poco más a Gong Yoo con un papel equilibrado y no con base en los estándares impuestos por quienes le contrataron.
It seems to me an interesting series to spend an exciting moment, a weekend, or a day when you want to be distracted. The production is exquisite and the scenes feel so unique because of the high resolution, although I would have liked to see a little more of Gong Yoo with a balanced role and not based on the standards imposed by those who hired him.
En mi opinión, algo que transmite la serie es el valor a la vida y lo que nos rodea en el planeta; si la desertificación no fuera llegado a este nivel la humanidad no hubiere cometido tales actos deplorables como los que ocurrieron en la estación construida en la luna.
In my opinion, something that the series transmits is the value of life and what surrounds us on the planet; If desertification had not reached this level, humanity would not have committed such deplorable acts as those that occurred on the station built on the moon.

My love for Korean film continues to expand. I have got to thank @flowerbaby for putting me on to these awesome tv shows on Netflix. The first Korean show that I watched was Squid Game. I really enjoyed that one and even have a couple of the songs from it stuck in my head still. The quality of that show alerted me to the fact that Koreans put out some really awesome stuff. I am surprised at how well the English dubs work for me. I'm sure a lot of people just watch the show in Korean and then read subtitles, but I like to watch and have the option to read. Sometimes certain scenes require my full attention and I don't want to get caught reading and miss out.
This post isn't about Squid Game, but it is going to be about a Korean show on Netflix that features a few cast members from Squid Game. The show that I want to discuss today is called The Silent Sea. It just came out on Christmas Eve and has 8 episodes available for the first season.
I had no idea what this show was, but @flowerbaby threw it on the other night and I was intrigued right away. For once it is set in space and secondly, I recognized a few faces from Squid Game right away. Gong Yoo and Heo Sund-tae were two of my favorite characters in Squid Game. They play totally different roles in The Silent Sea, but I trust their skills to lead me through an enjoyable story.
The cast of The Silent Sea is packed with memorable characters. So far my favorite is Choi Yong-Woo as Lee Gi-su (on the far right in the group photo below). He is absolutely hilarious and doesn't seem to ever take anything seriously. I'm only 3 episodes in, so I can't say if he will still be my favorite by the end. There is just something about Korean jokes being translated into English that makes them even funnier to me. Sometimes they are clever and other times they are so dry that it just makes me chuckle.
The dynamic between Bae Doona's character Doctor Song Ji-an and Gong Yoo's team leader role of Han Yoon-jae is pretty tense. They are always butting heads. Han Yoon-jae refuses to take orders from anybody unless they are his superiors, he is not good with advice. While Dr. Song Ji-an is highly intelligent and seems to have some hidden knowledge that she is yet to share fully.
Like I briefly mentioned before, this show is set on the moon. You can probably tell that all of the characters are wearing spacesuits. You may be thinking, this must be a cool science/fantasy film. However, it is also pretty creepy and filled with thrilling moments that keep you on the edge of your seat. The giant moon base called Balhae Lunar Research Station is filled with mystery. There is so little to no information about the mission given to the team members and this unknown quickly becomes something unsettling.
Of course, the team's travel from Earth to Space doesn't go exactly as planned. It was supposed to be a quick in and out mission to retrieve a sample from an irradiated base. There is so much more to it once they get there and the team is left to figure things out the hard way. I don't want to spoil anything for you. Just know that the plot is pretty deep and you will be figuring things out as the characters do.
If you are a fan of outer space, this show is definitely worth your time. I have a feeling that it is only going to get better the further that I progress through the first season. I am not saying it is going to be as popular as Squid Game, but it is another high-quality Korean show.
I love the ambiance that the setting provides. There is plenty of emptiness that you may expect to find on the moon. There are also portions of the base that have interesting lighting to adapt the mood to a different feeling. I love the style of cinematography used to tell this mysterious story.
I have a feeling that many of these characters are going to start disappearing or dying off soon. Hard to say which ones will live and which ones will end up as space dust. One thing is for certain, I plan to finish this show and look forward to finding out what other people think of it.

It's been a while since I last enjoyed a good Sci-Fi show, so I was quite stoked when this Korean series first popped up in my coming soon feed. The trailer looked really good and I have enjoyed plenty of good Korean sci-fi in the past. Yay!
It came out three days ago I think and today I had the chance to binge watch it. Visually the series was excellent and imo so was the acting. When it comes to special effects, with a few exceptions here and there the silent sea has nothing to be jealous of Hollywood.
But visuals aren't everything in this life! Up to the third or the 4th episode I really liked the show but then the plot just gets too silly for my taste. And the ending was even sillier and probably broke most if not all physics rules out there, lmao. However the idea was original and unique. I'll give it that.
Furthermore, there were lots of moments that the show just dragged on and on for no reason. I think it could have easily been 3 episodes shorter or maybe even a stand alone movie.
Anyways, not total dog shit but nothing great either. I will give it a meh/10.
