Man, what a mess this episode was, honestly I have been ok ish into this season of Dead City but episode 7 just crashed and burned in the worst way possible. The whole thing felt like the writers got drunk and decided to throw every stupid idea they had into one episode, like seriously what were they thinking with all this nonsense, the entire episode felt like dizzy. Maggie's out there looking for Hershel and runs into the Croat who is supposedly gonna help her but really just wants to drag her around Manhattan doing tourism over broken glass and walker traps, meanwhile Negan was having some kind of mental breakdown at a hospital talking to his dead wive like he was in some bad trip. The episode starts with Maggie searching the theater for her son but instead finds the Croat who initially plays dumb about Hershel's location until she threatens him, then suddenly he remembers there might be another place the kid could be hiding out, so the guy who have been trying to kill her every time he gets the chance now going to help her? tf?!. At the same time Negan's taking care of Ginny with help from this young guy Benjamin who apparently doesn't remember anything from before the apocalypse started since he was too little and was very traumatic for him, which honestly just felt like another way for the writers to make us feel sorry for these characters instead of actually giving them interesting things to do. The whole setup just screamed "filler episode" from the very beginning and it never got any better, actually it got worse as it went along with all the ridiculous hallucination sequences and pointless danger that wasn't really dangerous at all.

The hospital scenes with Negan were probably the most annoying part of the whole damn episode because they kept promising something scary or interesting but never delivered on any of it, so Negan goes to this supposedly dangerous hospital where "no one comes back alive" to find medical supplies for Ginny and what does he find there besides some sleeper walkers that barely move unless you poke them, what was that about? aside from them been kids doesnt make much sense. The whole place was supposed to be this deadly maze but Negan just walks through it like he was shopping at the grocery store, occasionally bumping into a zombie child that doesn't even attack him properly. Then comes the hallucination bullshit where he starts seeing his dead wife Lucille and then Annie and their kid Joshua, having these deep conversations about how he failed everyone in his life, like come on writers we get it Negan has guilt issues you don't need to beat us over the head with it through fake ghost conversations. The worst part is they could have just done flashbacks to show his regret and it would have been way more effective than this supernatural nonsense that makes no sense in the Walking Dead universe, like are we supposed to believe walkers cause hallucinations now or what. Even the medical equipment he finds at the end feels like an afterthought, just something to justify the whole pointless hospital adventure that added nothing to the actual story except padding the runtime with boring dream sequences that went nowhere, I really thought he would bring back some pills or medicine for Ginny instead gets this artificial breathing machine.

Maggie's storyline wasn't much better because they decided to focus on her fear of heights in the most over the top way possible, turning what should have been a tense rescue mission into a weird therapy session on top of a skyscraper. The Croat leads her through this obstacle course of traps he apparently set up himself, make me wonder a few things about why he had make it so difficult to access his own safe house but whatever logic isn't really important in this episode anyway since a lot of things are very vague and make no sense. They have to cross this glass bridge between buildings that starts cracking under Maggie's weight while walkers pound on it going after her and instead of creating real tension the scene just drags on with Maggie frozen in place being scared of heights like she has never been in dangerous situations before, would have been better if it just breaks and then she was left haging, that type of moment did arrive but felt too long. The Croat tries to talk her across with some philosophical garbage about how fear of heights is really fear of jumping, which honestly was one of the better moments in the episode but still felt forced and unnatural coming from this character since he had no real intentions or motives to help her. Maggie starts hallucinating too for reasons that are never properly explained, maybe it's stress or maybe it's magic who knows at this point but she passes out and wakes up to find the Croat fixing a flashlight like they're camping instead of fighting for their lives. The whole sequence felt like it was written by someone who has never actually watched The Walking Dead before because since when is Maggie afraid of anything, this is the woman who's killed countless people and walkers but now she's scared of being up high.

At least the Croat got some decent character development even though it came way too late to really matter for the overall episode, his backstory about losing his mother when he was twelve and finding her dead body was actually touching in a way. He admits he brought Maggie to the building not to find Hershel but because he wanted someone to help him commit suicide, which is dark but at least makes sense for his character unlike most of the other stuff happening in this episode. The conversation between him and Maggie about pain and loss felt original and fresh coming from him for once, even if it was surrounded by all the other ridiculous nonsense going on around them and you can tell the actors were trying their best to make something meaningful out of the terrible material they were given, at least thats my impression. But then the episode pulls its biggest twist by revealing that Hershel actually is at the location the Croat mentioned, complete with their secret flashlight signal, so maybe he wasn't lying after all about trying to help Maggie find her son, felt exhausting having seen them to go way back, just moving through so many places. The reunion between mother and son starts out sweet but then gets ruined by the reveal that Dama is still alive and has been manipulating everything from behind the scenes and Im done with her character she is one of the most annoying characters from the entire TWD Universe, a woman who has no grip or leverage other her voice over all this grown men?, it all felt like the writers couldn't figure out how to end the episode so they just threw in a shock revelation that makes no sense but at least was shocking at first. The question is how did Dama survive being crushed and burned, why did everyone think she was dead and what was she been doing this whole time while her organization fell apart, none of these questions get answered because the episode is too busy with pointless hallucinations and height phobia therapy sessions.

The only decent part of the whole episode was Negan's transformation back into his old savage self at the very end, where he tells Benjamin that instead of showing mercy like he used to do he's gonna line everyone up and kill them all. This felt like the first real character development we have gotten from Negan all season, even if it came after forty minutes of boring hospital wandering and fake conversations with dead people, for once felt like the old Negan, similar to when he just arrive to the city with Maggie on episode one, when he open up one of Croat's guy, at least it promises that next and last episode might actually have some action. The Croatian title "Novi Dan Novi Pocetak" means new day new beginning but honestly this episode felt more like old crap new packaging, recycling tired themes about guilt and fear without adding anything fresh or interesting to the characters or story. Benjamin's comment about not remembering life before the apocalypse was supposed to be profound but just reminded me how much better Carl's character from the OG series was and how the show killed him off for no good reason, now we're stuck with discount Carl talking about medical cream while the real action happens somewhere else. The whole episode felt like a setup for the finale but it was such a boring and frustrating setup that I'm not even sure I care what happens next, which is pretty sad considering how much potential this show had when it started. Rating this mess gets a solid 5 out of 10 and that's being generous, mostly because the Croat scenes were decent and Negan's final moment showed some promisebut everything else was just a waste of time that could have been spent on actual plot development or character growth instead of weird psychological nonsense that doesn't fit the tone of the series.

  2. The Walking Dead - Dead City (2023): Bridge Partners Are Hard to Come by These Days - S02E06 - RECAP@skiptvads337d

Man, Dead City Season 2 Episode 6 was such a weird mix of stuff that I'm still trying to figure out if I actually liked it or not but I guess it was expected to things turn out very GOT, every man and woman for themself trying to grab as much power they could now that Dama was ""out"" of the picture, you know what I mean, like the whole thing felt super slow and dragged out but then boom, they throw this crazy bear scene at us that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. So we start with Negan and the Croat talking about what happens now that Dama is toast and honestly the whole conversation felt forced as hell plus it felt like Negan was teasing him about the rat incident the hole time like he wanted to tell Negan or the script wanted to, although they are still trying to figure out their next move but it's all just so predictable at this point. The Croat keeps going on about how he didn't save Dama from the fire, which we know until then he didnt because he is a coward and then he's all like "oh we can go back to Croatia together with our families" which sounds nice but come on, this is The Walking Dead, nothing ever works out that smoothly. What really got me was how they handled the whole rat situation, like Negan crushed this rat earlier and when the Croat sees the blood on his boot, suddenly he figures out that Negan set him up, which leads to this big fight where they are wrestling over Lucille and honestly it was kinda cool to see some action but also felt like they were just filling time until something more interesting happened besides none of them got really hurt, at worst Croat him Negan just once with Lucille, really crappy fight scene.

The whole Maggie and Bugal storyline was even more frustrating because it makes zero sense why anyone would trust this guy, like Maggie literally saw him being buddy with the Croat before and now he is trying to make deals with New Babylon, offering methane in exchange for help against Negan's crew. Bugal keeps talking about how impressed he is with what they have done on the mainland but it's all just smooth talk bullshit that anyone with half a brain should see through, yet somehow Pearly is actually considering taking the deal which is just dumb as rocks, he has always been like that since season 1. Then we get this whole thing where one of Bugal's guards gets attacked by something mysterious, its hilrious how fast she got dragged into a bush like a human or monster pull her and she comes back all torn up before dying, which is supposed to build tension but honestly just felt like they were setting up for the bear scene that comes later, a bear would never pull her like that. The dinner scene with Bugal was so awkward too, like he was trying to be all diplomatic and charming but everyone can see right through it, especially Maggie who was clearly not buying any of his crap and then Pearly starts wavering which made me want to slap the fuck out of him for been that stupid. What really bugged me was how they kept hinting at this bigger threat lurking around but never really explained what was going on, they were like "do you think it was...." , like are we supposed to just accept that there was some monster roaming around Bugal's compound without any backstory or reason, honestly I though it was Bugal fighter from a few episodes ago but he killed that guy.

The bear scene was probably the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a Walking Dead show in years and that's saying something considering all the crazy stuff we have witnessed over the years, they had something good on episode 5 and then destroy it on this one, like seriously what the hell were they thinking when they wrote this. Then there is Hershel is trying to poison everyone water supply with walker blood, when will they kill Hershel?? pls do us that solid, then Maggie catches him and they have this big argument where he is basically telling her she's a terrible mother, which leads to him running off into the night like the city is a safe place because literally nothing happens to him. Then out of nowhere this massive grizzly bear shows up and starts chasing them around and I'm sitting there thinking "did they really just add a bear to this zombie show" like what's next, zombie sharks or something as stupid, plus I thought it would be a Zombie bear but nop just a regular one eye bear, the CGI on this bear was actually pretty decent, I'll give them that but the whole sequence felt so out of place and unnecessary, like they were trying to create this big action moment but it just came across as desperate and random. Maggie tries to use the chained up walkers as distractions, which barely works because this bear is apparently stronger than anything we have seen before, tearing through zombies like they are made of paper and then Hershel saves the day by throwing knives at its face which somehow works perfectly and the bear falls into the spike fence of the Zombies fight cage, which is such a convenient way to end the fight and then Hershel just disappears again leaving Maggie all alone, which brings us back to the same family drama we have been dealing with all season, just when we thought it was over after episode five

What really bothered me about this episode was how everything felt so irrational and forced, like the writers were trying to move pieces around the board but couldn't figure out how to make it feel natural or believable, there was the bear, the sky bridge where Maggie almost fall, Croat taking her around the city like it was Disney land. Then we got Negan's whole emotional journey with Benjamin Pierce in the tunnels was probably the best part of the episode, where he was reflecting on his past and wondering if his people needed saving from him rather than the world, which is actually pretty deep character development that I wish they had focus on before and not now. But then we get this scene where Annie and Joshua show up at the docks and instead of reuniting with his family, Negan tells his people to send them back to Tennessee, which is supposed to be this heartbreaking moment but honestly just felt manipulative, I know he did it because of what was coming up if Bugal decides to attack him, so now you telling me that Negan is the new leader of the Burazi??. The whole Jinny storyline has been building up for weeks with her waiting for that moment to pull up on Negan but she has also been hiding this infection and when she finally pulls a gun on Negan, she collapses before she can do anything, which is such a predictable twist that I saw coming from miles away you just had to look at her pale face, which leads to this scavenger hunt for medicine where the series put out a bunch f zombie kids and felt like the writers were afraid to have the kids kill / tear apart someone or Negan putting a knife through a zombie kid on TV? wtf!!

This episode really made me have second thoughts on this series, I know out of the three current spin off this is the weak one, yes it had a nice twist at the end but that can't safe the day and makes it more predictable, it's clear that Dead City is struggling with pacing issues and doesn't know how to balance character development with action sequences, which is frustrating because the show has so much potential when it focuses on the right things. The performances are still entertaining or plain good, especially Jeffrey Dean Morgan who continues to bring emotional scenes to Negan even when the script lets him down and Lauren Cohan does her best with Maggie's material even though the character keeps making some of the dumbest decisions. The hole post apocalyptic Manhattan and production quality is still there, from costumes to the entire city as an entity but none of that matters if the story doesn't make sense or feels forced. I keep waiting for this show to find its rhythm and deliver on the promise of what could be a really good spin off that might connect to the rest in the future but its so far away from Darel Dixon spin off and episodes like this one make me wonder if they are just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. The bear scene will probably be talked about for all the wrong reasons and I think they wanted to give the same impression of how Maggie fought that multi zombie in the tunnels on season one because it was on similar circumstances and very close to the season ending, it definitely feels like the writers were running out of ideas, which is concerning since we are only in season 2 and this might get cancel if it keeps dropping the ball like this, I got to mention this is the worst episode of the series so far.

  3. The Walking Dead - Dead City (2023): The Bird Always Knows - S02E05 - RECAP@skiptvads338d

Its catching up time and I didnt want to leave haing on Episode 5 of Dead City Season 2 in fact it was better that the first four imo and it felt like the show finally found its groove again after that kinda slow first four episodes. The whole power struggle between the Dama and the Croat reached a boiling point and watching Negan manipulate everything from the shadows was just like the kiss of death. This episode literally changed everything, from Maggie almost getting hanged to that brutal scene where the Croat just lets the Dama burn alive, it was chaos from start to finish and it was very satisfying although Narvaez death was too easy, after all the series is not perfect and I dont not expect it to be as its a spin off aka milk that cow. The way they killed off multiple group leaders in one episode was bold as hell since its a big reset button, especially considering how long they have been building up these factions. Narvaez from New Babylon getting taken out by walker Roxanna was poetic justice at its finest, the woman who preached about order and control gets destroyed by the very chaos she helped create. The whole Central Park execution scene was intense too, with those foragers doing their mourning ritual that attracted all the walkers, it was actually pretty smart storytelling but still look a bit low effort or just too evident still I guess it was all about this big reset for the series. Hershel's confession about working with the Dama hit different this time around, you could see how torn up Maggie was about her own son being manipulated by this woman and in the case of Hershel I really thought he would take Dama's side but with her diying it would not make sense. The character development this season has been way better than season 1, everyone feels more real and less like they are just going through the motions. Ginny turn out to be bitchy AF this season, from the quiet girl to pointing a gun at Hershel was a moment that made me actually gasp, like tf you doing but then she redeemed herself by saving Maggie later so I guess we are good.

The methane facility stuff and all the political maneuvering between the different groups was handled way better than I expected especially with Negan trying to convince Christos to join their side only to watch the Croat gas everyone I didnt see that coming, I thought Negan would have a bigger confrontation with the Croat although revenge was so sweet. That whole sequence where they reveal Christos was actually protecting women and children was a nice touch, it gave his character more emotion instead of just being another tough guy villain, same as when he explain how they were just surviving and basically had to look though but they are rely not into it but just playing along. The way the Croat showed up and just wiped out the entire group was brutal but also showed how unstable he has become, this scene really reminds me of good old savage Negan, dude is clearly losing it and taking everyone down with him. Negan's reaction to all the innocent people dying was interesting too, you could see him questioning whether he is on the right side of this war. The fight over power between all these factions have been the strongest part of this season, way more interesting than the generic zombie action we usually get. Bugal showing up at the end was perfect timing and I love how he has been playing everyone against each other from the background. The production values continue to be top notch, that Radio City Music Hall location was gorgeous and the whole burning building sequence looked incredible. The acting has stepped up too, especially from the actor playing the Croat, his breakdown scene with the Dama was really something special from the moment he first loose it after feeling Nega had his back but then feels he didnt right away, thats he moment Croat realize he fucked up and too the bait, that is exactly why then he goes back to Dama to talk and basically apologize.

What really worked for me was how they handled the Dama's death scene, because I was getting tired of her whole mysterious puppet master thing. The Croat calling her out for being nothing without him was a long time coming and watching their partnership implode was satisfying in a twisted way, it was about damn time. The rat symbolism throughout the episode was heavy handed but effective, especially with that final shot of Negan cleaning the guts off his boot, I mean we all knew it was him. It's clear he orchestrated the whole thing by killing the Dama's pet rat and then convincing the Croat that she doesn't respect him, classic Negan manipulation using people's insecurities against them to get what he wants. The fact that he didn't have to get his hands dirty this time shows how much he has evolved as a character, he is smarter and more calculating now. The Croat's descent into madness has been building all season and this episode was the perfect payoff for his story, his decision to let the Dama burn was cold blooded but also understandable given how she has been treating him like garbage. The whole power vaccuum this creates is gonna be interesting to watch, especially with Bugal positioning himself as the new big bad ass in town. I'm curious to see how Negan handles being the leader of this methane operation without the Dama pulling the strings, because if Croat accepts he killed Dama on purpose then him and Negan might stay together, after watching episode 5 it felt like it has been worth watching the series so far.

The execution scenes were probably the most intense moments Dead City has ever done, except for that time Maggie fought that fkn huge zombie in the underground tunnels and I'm not just talking about the hanging itself but the whole build up to it, how Maggie goes back and still gets caught because Ginny help, which in fact make her look stupid because then she backtracks latter on the episode. Narvaez's plan to use Maggie as bait to lure Negan and the Croat into a walker trap was actually dumb af, I was rooting for Narvaez to get killed asap and Im glad she got killed the moment she grab some power. The way the foragers accepted their fate and didn't fight back against the walkers was haunting, something I didnt expect, I though they were going to at least turn around, it showed how different groups have adapted to this world in their own ways and just accept how some things are. The walker attack on the execution site was chaos but good chaos, with everyone scrambling to survive while the dead poured in from all sides. Roxanna coming back as a walker to kill Narvaez was probably the most satisfying death in the entire series so far, that woman had it coming. The fact that they managed to make me care about these side characters before killing them off shows how much the story telling has improved. Pearly's role as the voice of reason throughout all the madness was important too although he still look stupid like when Maggie tried to save him from the box and he decided to stay in with Roxanna tf??, although he has become a solid supporting character. The whole sequence with Maggie almost dying really showed how much Hershel means to her and you could see the desperation in her eyes, this episode proved that Dead City works best when it focuses on character relationships rather than just zombie action.

The series have been ramping up and Season 2 of Dead City is starting to feel like an improvement and making it fit with the other two spin off actually going on too, I think it represents everything that has been working about season 2 so far, the political mind games, the character development and the willingness to make big changes to the point of resting the rules of the game with Dama and Narvaez death, who is going to remain as the leaders and what will be their actions?. The way they handled multiple character deaths without it feeling cheap or just for shock value was impressive, each death served the story in some way. There is also the Croat's transformation from loyal follower to potential main villain has been one of the best character story lines in the Walking Dead universe in the last few years along with Negan's return to his manipulative roots felt natural and it's clear he has learned from his past mistakes. The pacing of this episode was perfect, it never felt rushed but also never dragged, every scene had purpose. I'm actually excited to see where they take the story from here, even though I can watch all the other episodes Im planing on finish two per week as I catch up with other series. The balance between the different factions has been maintained really well, no other group feels overpowered or under powered, imo this episode gets a solid 7.5/10 from me, it's everything I wanted Dead City to be from the beginning, dark, complex and willing to take risks with its characters, I know this is not a series for everyone but I did enjoy watching.

  4. The Walking Dead: Dead City (2023): Feisty Friendly – S02E04 - RECAP@skiptvads388d

    Source

After episode 4 drop I'm trying to figure out what the hell is happening with this show and most of the others on a second season, episode 4 titled "Feisty Friendly" gave us some decent moments but I still feel like season 2 keeps under performing compared to season 1 even though the last two episodes are feeling better than the mess we got at the begining. The whole thing with Dama having this weird control over Hershel still feels off to me, like I get that she's supposed to be this master manipulator but the way she has him wrapped around her finger just doesn't sit right, it's like watching a kid being brainwashed and nobody seems to notice or care, and why Maggie havent confront him and smack the sht out of him?.
Source This episode focused heavily on meeting Bugal who lives in some fancy museum and apparently has been running walker fights for entertainment, which sounds cool in theory but the execution felt kinda predictable because you could see where things were heading from miles away, I mean a 26-0 Zombie? cmon it has to be a guy doing the "fighting". The series is still too predictable for my taste and while there were some good moments Im still left with the feeling that we are just going through the motions instead of getting something truly exciting. Negan and Maggie finally had their meeting which was nice to see but it felt rushed and didn't have the meaning or emotion I was expecting, maybe because we have seen them interact so many times before that it has lost some of its impact. The whole methane storyline continues to be the north of the story but honestly I'm getting tired of hearing about it every single episode and I just want them to move on to something more interesting. Source Source The whole walker fighting ring situation that Bugal has been running was the only puzzle to solve on this episode and it turns out the guy has been cheating this entire time by using an actual human being dressed up as a walker instead of a real one, the thing that got me sick is how he kinda train the guy on eating rats so he could basically "eat" zombies, I know he was not eating them but very when you have to stab them with your face. The poor bastard named Tony who used to be Bugal's bodyguard before everything went to shit was basically being forced to act like a walker and fight other walkers for entertainment, which is probably one of the most fucked up things I've seen on this show so far. Tony didn't say a single word during the entire episode but his story was probably the most tragic part of the whole thing, here iss a guy who was loyal to Bugal and ended up being turned into some kind of sick entertainment for people to bet on while Bugal kept all the spoils of war. The reveal that he wasn't actually a walker was pretty obvious for me because his movements were too coordinated and he seemed to respond to things in ways that walkers normally don't. Honestly I first believe it when the Croat mention it and then Negan figured out the truth and used it as leverage against Bugal it was a smart move, showing that even though he has been playing nice he is still got those manipulative skills that made him dangerous in the first place, although he play with fire here because he was not 110% for sure at first just until the fight was over, he was risking gambling away a methan factory. The whole scene where Bugal kills Tony at the end was brutal after the guy had already served his purpose and could have been set free but instead he gets his throat slit because Bugal doesn't want any loose ends, this only shows how disposable people are to these leaders who only care about maintaining their power and control, Tony deserved better than being treated like a disposable toy. Source Source The meeting between all these different faction leaders was supposed to be this big tense moment but it ended up feeling more like a bunch of kids arguing in a playground, but I guess it is what it is, this was suppose to be how things would play out and Dama knew it when she warn Negan not to let Croat screw up things for her. Bugal wanting a second methane factory built in his museum was an interesting power play but the Croat being suspicious about the walker fights felt like he was just jealous that someone else might be getting more attention than him. Probably the most interesting aspect of the series is how things work out between Dama, the Croat, and Negan continues to be weird because you can tell there's tension building but nobody wants to make the first move, it's like watching a really slow game of chess where everyone is afraid to actually play. Negan putting up the walker fight as a way to settle things always a gambler looking for a way to turn the situation to his advantage while making it seem like he is being fair but there is always a trick in the works. It was during the fight when he jumped into the arena to help his walker it was obvious he was up to something and thats the exact moment he figured out that Bugal's champion wasn't what it seemed to be. Then Negan whisper Bugal at the end was probably him telling you "I got you btch" and was probably enough to tell the cat was out of the bag and he knew everything, reason why even though Bugal wins he drops the idea of a methan factory.

Personally for me the best part and most intense one was the scene with the revelation that Dama used to be some famous critic in New York before everything went to hell some cool interesting background information but it doesn't really change anything about her character or motivations, although I realy thought she was to slit Benjamin right on the spot before he could finish his story. Hershel meeting up with Dama again at the end just proves that Negan was right about not being able to trust him, which puts Maggie in an impossible position of having to choose between believing her son or accepting that he might be working against her, I'm sure she knows she cant trust him but she is in denial or think she fan somehow fix him instead of confronting him. The whole firefly story between Maggie and Hershel was supposed to be this touching mother son moment but it felt forced and didn't really add anything meaningful to their relationship, truth is that I was distracted at that moment and didn't even matter to me, it was while making this recap that I find out about it. Now Ginny getting a gun and planning to kill Negan is another subplot that looks unnecessary because lets face it another kid who got his parents killed by Negan has come back to put a bullet on his head? getting old I think, like they're just adding more drama for the sake of having drama instead of focusing on the main story that is suppose to be New Babylon against Dama but that story at the moment has been put in pause.

So far I'm not sure where this show is heading in terms of what to expect, I know its not a AAA tv series and at the moment there are two way better TWD spin off with Rick and Daryl having their own. The show needs to get their sht together because there were some good moments like the Tony reveal and the walker fighting concept, the overall execution still feels wack compared to what we got in season 1. I really thought Dama was going to get Benjamin killed during the Zombie fight after he is traveling in the trunk but the man of the episode was Tony who sadly got killed without saying a word during the entire episode, a really fucked up story that deserved more attention than it got. The series should also give more screen time to the entire political matters between factions at New York put them all together or start a some what civil war and have New Babylon pick up the pieces to gain power, divide and conquer. But the truth is that Perlie, Narvaez and every other from New Babylon still looks like loosers who has no clue where they standing at or what to do next but it does seem like they are going to make some progress just as Maggie did on Season 1 against the Croat. The show has potential but it needs to stop being so predictable and start taking some real risks with its characters and storylines, otherwise we are just going to keep getting more of the same mediocre content, entertaining to kill time but mediocre; that doesn't live up to the hype of original series, I could only give this episode a 7/10 while its getting murder at Rottentomatoes with a 48% by the Audience and 63% from critics, Seaons 1 got 80% from critics and 58% from the Audience signaling a watchable show but now it has to do something if not wouldnt be weird form AMC to cancel it, besides they got options with two other spin off still running with better numbers.

  5. The Walking Dead: Dead City (2023): Why Did the Mainlanders Cross the River? - S02E03 - RECAP@skiptvads392d

    Source

Dead City remains a very average TV series that mostly works only for fans of TWD for the most part although even at that very niche group there might be critics on how Dead City is trying to mimic in a way the original series and not making a good job at it. Episode 3 of Season 2 had some really beautiful moments but also some stuff that just felt off and weird, called "Why Did the Mainlanders Cross the River?" and it focuses heavily on Hershel's backstory with Dama, which was probably the saving grace of this whole episode because without those flashbacks this would have been a complete slog of an episode, there were moments that could have been exploit like when Hershel meets Negan at the park, that moment right there could have been better but they kept it short.
    Rottentomatoes Rating
Source I'm gonna be honest, the pacing felt really slow at times and there were moments where I was tempted to fast forward, but then we had these snippets into Hershel's past that made everything start moving again. The episode does give us some gorgeous shots of New York, especially during Hershel's flashback scenes with Dama that had this mystical very apocalyptic version of "Shadow and Bones" like quality, the way they showed the destroyed city from that elevator room was probably one of the best sites we have seen this season although the CGI was not that good considering its a distant image, may be at 4k it could look better. Lastly on this episode we get to this cult like group who controls Central Park, at first I though it was full of zombies only but it ends up that the ones alive and the Zombies come from the same group, they use their death ones and the tall grass to protect from the Croat and the rest at the city. Source Source The story keeps with Maggie and the other survivors from the Croat attack while they were trying to cross the river, now they trying to cross Central Park both avoiding the Croat goons and the Zombies, I got to say the way people die from walker attack at this point look very stupid, the whole concept of TWD has change drastically since its not about the Zombies anymore, at least not on this spin off where Zombies have not change or evolve like on others. Every single character is suppose to be a survivor and child some others who have survive this world for over decades and they still been taken down by a single walker at the park, its very frustrating as it feels like the story falls short on creativity and now walkers are the perfect excuse to kill time. The inconsistency takes you out of the immersion, like why does Maggie get to wrestle with a walker for 30 seconds while some random soldier gets killed instantly, it just doesn't make sense from a storytelling perspective. Meanwhile Negan is playing this dangerous double game with the Croat, pretending to be loyal while secretly trying to protect Hershel and this story line could be way more engaging if they just let Negan spread his legs again and be the villain he is for some time instead of fighting with himself at not trying to be the savage he was. The scene where he kills Waylen and then lies to the Croat about it was ok but the way Waylen dies is what bothers me from the series, although this scene does show a snippet of the old Negan trying to be three steps ahead of everyone on the game, there is a lot of tension between him and the Croat as he reports back. Source Source But the real meat of this episode comes from the Hershel and Dama flashbacks which finally give us some insight into why this kid has been acting so strange since he got caught, I really though it was something to do with Maggie but its just him trying to get attention, been a spoil child. Dama's manipulation of Hershel is satisfying and disturbing at the same time because she is using his feelings of abandonment and neglect to turn him against his own mother, she also gives him this vision of rebuilding New York into something new and better like he is the architect on a blank canvas and you can see how interesting that would be to a teenager who feels ignored and overlooked. The way Lisa Emery plays Dama is perfect because she does a great job at pretending to be this caring revolutionary woman, an understanding figure who really sees Hershel for who he is but at the back there is this sinister agenda that becomes more apparent as the the series unfolds. The elevator room scene where she shows him the view of the city and talks about making new rules and being new people was awesome, there was something creative about it, an elevator on a building that has been falling apart for some time, the fabric on the elevator walls pretending to cover up and the the "window" when they go all the way to the top a very seductive idea of her offer, you can understand why Hershel would be drawn to this vision of the future. What's really heartbreaking is seeing how Maggie's obsession with Negan has affected her relationship with her son, when Hershel tells her about his encounter with Negan and her immediate reaction is to bombard him with questions about Negan instead of focusing on her son's well being, you can see the hurt and frustration in his eyes.
At the same time the series feels a bit draggy it also feels it lacks detail on some of the characters and even tribes in the case of this episode, everything centers on Negan and Hershel and nothing else, even Negan's conflicts with Dama and Croat stayed aside and its really funny how on this season Maggie has turn into a secondary character so far. One can say its so stupid how Dama has so much power over Hershel but at the same time you got to recognize her talent to control the weak mind, the way he accept that sharpened pencil from Daman with that subtle smile suggest he is on her side and that's going to create some dramatic contracts when it comes to his relationship with his mother. I'm hoping that the pacing picks up and we get some more action like on season one after they attack the Croat, character development for some like Hershel and Negan has been good so far but overall the momentum felt very sluggish compared to the first two episodes of this season. I didn't talk much about this new cult that show up because it seems that once Maggie and Hershel gets out of Central Park we might not see them again, felt like an unnecessary subplot, it did took some time away from the rest of the story line but does a good job a filling in space, idk I might sound contradictory at times but the series is very meh. Overall this episode saved itself with the flashback sequences and character revelations, but it definitely felt like a setup episode rather than something that moved the plot forward significantly, I'm still optimistic about where this season is heading especially with all the emotional groundwork they are building up for the main characters.

  6. The Walking Dead: Dead City (2023) - Another Shitty Lesson - S02E02 - RECAP@skiptvads400d

    Source

The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 2 delivered some action, I say some action because it was not impressive although not boring, aside from that it felt stupid at times but because the characters are stupid but if we think about it thats how it has to be so they can loose, this is a survivors series so its not the best armies on Earth going at each other. During the episode I do have to recognize that character development made it even better than the premiere since we starting to reveal some of the characters real motivations, is playing a double agent and those power hungry in the back. I'm seriously loving that we still have six more episodes to go in this season, its staring slow but might close strong just like season one, two more episodes is a huge improvement over the typical six episode format we have been getting with other Walking Dead spin offs lately, those shorter seasons always felt rushed and incomplete, like trying to tell a full story in half the time. Honestly eight episodes still feels a bit tight but it's definitely better than six, this are different times are we are way passed the full 16 episode treatment but I think 10 12 would be the sweet spot to really let these stories breathe without feeling stretched thin, anyway this episode picked up right where we left off with Maggie now part of the New Babylon crew, basically force to be part of their crew; heading to Manhattan while Negan is still stuck with the Dama and the Croat.
Source The episode starts with a really touching scene between Negan and a violin player named Victor and right away I got this feeling that something bad was gonna happen to this guy although I though it was going to happen right on the spot, it was just the way the scene was set up with Victor talking about Bach and how the music helped him through tough times, it felt like one of those moments where the show introduces someone just to make you care before killing them off, what a btch. It's just exactly what happened later. Then we see Maggie trying to convince the New Babylon leaders, thats the bunch of idiots I was talking about; that the Croat knows they are coming and they need to be more careful on their strategy, things can't be straight forward as they think but of course Major Narvaez lady doesn't want to listen to anything Maggie says even though Maggie's the only one who actually knows what she is talking about. Pearly seems to trust Maggie but he doesn't have enough pull to change their plans and then in a really convenient moment Hershel shows up out of nowhere having followed them because he didn't want his mom going alone, right away I knew this was bs or probably was a stupid plot idea as Naravez is, which leads to Maggie and Hershel getting locked up after Maggie punches Narvaez for threatening her kid. On the Negan side we get this awesome story about his time with the Saviors when he fed walker meat to a group that attacked them, which shows how the Croat still idolizes the old Negan and wants him to return to his savage ways. Source Source The real highlight of the episode was definitely the ferry attack sequence where the Croat had set up a very primitive but at the same time advance defense system with mines in the water and these crazy walker bombs that they launched at the boat, it was like something out of a twisted medieval battle with the walkers being used as ammunition as they would fill them up with methane weird because how gas didn't escape? walkers are rotten and full of holes, the whole thing was cool enough only if you didn't overthink it since the science part doesn't make much sense. During this attack we see Negan actually enjoying the destruction until he notice Hershel on one the escape boat and hold out to launch the final attack which the Croat notices and reports back to the Dama, this makes me think again whats the grip she has over all this guys??.

The Croat snitching on Negan leads to the most intense scene of the episode where the Dama forces Victor to play his violin before brutally killing him with a pen to the neck right in front of Negan, making it clear that his hesitation had consequences, it was a really powerful moment that showed just how cruel and unpredictable Dama is as a villain, its here where she starts to bring out how of a savage she can truly be. This entire scene reinforced Negan's complicated position as someone being forced to do terrible things while trying to hold onto his humanity but at the same time he still can't denied enjoying part of it. After the attack the survivors of the ferry including Maggie, Hershel, and a few others end up taking refuge in what appears to be Central Park which we know from the previous episode is a dangerous no mans land with all kind of dangers going on from walkers to other humans.

Source Source This episode really stepped up the game with character development, especially with Negan being forced back into his old ways while clearly hating it and Maggie having to deal with the consequences of bringing her son into this dangerous situation, there's also this interesting subplot developing with Hershel possibly having some kind of connection to the Dama and I say some kind of just to not say something I'm not 110% sure but there is something going on with those two, as it seems like he might have been the one who set the tire fire as a signal.

The episode ends with the survivors hiding in Central Park, which sets up what will likely be a crazy and intense encounter in the next episode, people hiding within the tall grass, overall this was a really good hour that balanced action with emotional moments and continued to build the tension between all the different factions, I'm definitely excited to see where things go from here, especially with Negan now having even more reason to want revenge against Dama and the Croat after what they did to Victor.

I still think the second season is still stretching its legs delivering the kind of tense, character driven horror that made the original series so fkn good, the new villains are getting more development with Dama proving to be genuinely terrifying and the Croat showing his fanatical devotion to both her and the idea of who Negan used to be, the action sequences are creative and the stakes are high for New Babylon with characters we care about in real danger, I'm particularly interested in seeing how Negan will eventually break free from the Dama's control and reunite with Maggie because we know that has to happen at some point and when it does they are going to make a real power couple against these Manhattan villains, the show is also doing a good job of building mystery around Central Park and whatever monster is lurking there, which adds another layer of danger to an already precarious situation, with six more episodes to go there's plenty of time for the story to develop without feeling rushed and I'm hopeful that we'll get a satisfying conclusion that either wraps things up nicely or sets up an even more exciting third season, Dead City is not the strongest Walking Dead spinoff I would say is Daryl Dixon but it is still entertaining though, despite the low ratings its getting online.

  7. The Walking Dead: Dead City (2023) - Power Equals Power - S02E01 - RECAP@skiptvads400d

    Source

This is getting old but again its me keeping up with content, not exactly that I just saw the first episode of Dead City yesterday but I do want to cover it, since my elbow injury I couldn't post so I got some backlog. I was honestly pumped about "The Walking Dead: Dead City - Season 2" because season one close strong in my opinion after a very slow start and I like how the put on the spot Negan and Maggy on Season 1 to now start developing the "survivors" characters, keep in mind that while this is happening Rick is having his own story going on so its a matter of time before they all get together?? idk. I’ve been hooked on this show since Maggie and Negan first teamed up at NY and after the wild ride of Season 1, I was curious about how season 2 would be with all that tension still simmering.
Source I had no clue where they’d take us, especially after that cliffhanger with Negan stuck in Manhattan by force, who would imagine he of all have a soft spot and Maggie trying to piece her life back together with Hershel, they jumped a whole year ahead and it’s like everything’s shifted drastically specially for Maggy having such a hard time with Hershel. Seeing Negan in a grimy cell, scraping by on whatever scraps he can get, I kinda felt bad for the guy since when he finally wanted to change his life around now its like the Devil doesnt want to let him go and do more of his work, yet somehow, he still got that snarky spark in him. Then there’s Maggie out in the Bricks community, playing mom to a moody teen Hershel, teaching him to chuck knives at deer like it’s just another Tuesday and I couldn’t help but feel for her, juggling that protective vibe with a kid who’s pulling away and sometimes just made me feel like I just want to smack the stupid out of him.

What got me hyped was how they set up this big clash over Manhattan with New Babylon eyeing the island’s methane factory since its literally the kinda of power that can bring back technology and I’m sitting here thinking, man, this is gonna be a bloodbath but latter on episode 2 things really go one way only. New Babylon sheriffs are blind power hungry, they ready to draft anyone into their army with no one safe not even teenagers and they doing all this from the back of their "law" no matter how stupid it can be. At the head of this army is the creepy governor lady and Colonel Armstrong, who’s got no chill, pushing Maggie into a corner with threats, making her cut deals just to keep her people out of their suicide mission to take over Manhattan, it’s messed up.

Source Source The whole methane thing as a power source is genius although not black magic so I'm curious why this was never brought up during the OG series, turning walkers into energy and it’s got me wondering how far they’ll go to control it, whoever holds that card basically rules the game. It's also contradictory how Madam has control over the Croat and his operation although they do not control the rest of the Gangs and now Negan is forced to step up and do their work to gain control. Negan is constantly fighting not to slip back into his old savage self and it hits hard if you ever saw the OG series, you can tell he’s torn between protecting his family and staying true to who he hass become. I’m also kinda worried for Jinny, that kid has some guts, jumping into danger to prove herself but I’m scared she is in over her head, she even has this constant battle against Maggie after she discover the truth of why she went with Negan to Manhattan, although Negan knows by now Jinny still doesnt trust her at all. Maggie for Jinny is like a mama bear ready to tear through anything for her cubs and it would be funny if during this series Jinny becomes more affected to her than her own son.

The tension between Maggie and Hershel after discovering those drawings of Manhattan is haunting her down trying to figure what is going on in his mess up head, to this moment I still can't understand what Madam did to him to remain so loyal, I doubt that she promise him Negan's head but it would be the most obvious answer. One episode one there is also a character reborn, because that is exactly Lucille the bat wired that he constantly carry around now it’s like a taser on steroids and watching him wield it in front of those factions immediately get your senses going waiting to who will be the first victim, like watching a lion roar after being caged too long.

Source Source Aside from the characters there is one thing that got me thinking and could lead to more development of the factions within the city and its the walkers fights, there is something fishy in it, very similar to dog fights I would say but they do look like a rigged game and I'm wondering who is pulling the strings, there is the character of Bruegel who look like the guy who got things under control, the classic business man before anything even himself who lets Christos think he is the one in charge. This episode felt like setting up a chessboard for a brutal match, with every piece moving into place for chaos but it still feels a bit draggy just like season 1, I guess the meat of the series will come up once New Babylon gets their army across the river and invade Manhattan although the Croat is waiting and now by the hand of creative Negan will most like blew them apart.
This premiere was a solid kickoff, still feels a bit rusty but good enough. I got this feeling mix of hype and worry for Negan because he is walking a tightrope between his old ruthless side and the guy who just wants his family safe and I’m rooting for him to pull through without losing himself, though that bat scene might be the poinson that will get the old Negan back. Maggie’s struggle as a mom hit me at the same time is annoying because she is fighting so hard to shield Hershel and makes me think about where that’s heading, especially with him eyeing Manhattan like it’s calling his name. That whole power struggle over methane, it’s like a post apocalyptic gold rush and I’m betting it’s gonna get ugly fast, with New Babylon playing dirty, and I ain’t trusting that governor one bit, they playing the game of putting everyones life in danger no matter what the concequences soldiers need to follow orders, they going to get everyone killed. Over all I think its a solid start for the series, I know people are just tired of TWD over all, at this point more spin offs with the same characters feel like milking the OG series but as for entertainment I find them ok but I guess I'm saying all this because Im bias, Im a WLD fan from the old times back in the day of season one.

    Reseña - Review

    IMG_20240606_140552.jpg Source

I think everyone will agree with me that Negan is a great character and so is Maggie, this brave mother who is willing to risk everything to save her only son, the product of a great love that hurts even today. On the other hand, Negan is a character who started out as the villain in the main series, but he had his redemption and decided to stay away from trouble, but trouble always finds him.

The beginning of the series is a bit confusing because we are trying to guess what course each one followed and how they got to where they are today, what is Maggie looking for, why is Negan alone with a girl? These are some of the questions that will be resolved as we move forward in the story.

    IMG_20240606_141012.jpg Source

También tendremos la introducción de nuevos personajes y comunidades que seguro serán un obstáculo en futuras temporadas. Así que ya conoces a los personajes principales, pero todo lo demás es nuevo.

We will also have the introduction of new characters and communities that are sure to be an obstacle in future seasons. So you already know the main characters, but everything else is new.

Me gustó tener un vistazo a lo que fue el Negan de antes que no le teme a cometer actos cuestionables para lograr su objetivo y esta es una de las razones por las que Maggie fue a su encuentro. Aunque, recuerden, no todo es lo que parece.

I liked getting a glimpse of the Negan of old who is not afraid to commit questionable acts to achieve his goal and this is one of the reasons Maggie went to meet him. Although, remember, all is not what it seems.

    IMG_20240606_141346.jpg Source

What surprised me the most about this series and left me with a bitter feeling is the character that Hershel became, we left behind a sweet and tender child and now he looks like an emo who is living his worst life wanting to go for a dark side. I don't like this twist at all, especially because I feel that there will be betrayals involved, which in fact there already were. But, no doubt, this also keeps it interesting.

I liked the series, it didn't grab me as much as the Rick and Michonne spin off, but it's enjoyable to keep watching these characters and the TWD universe. And yes, I want to know what else they have to offer because it had an open ending so I imagine they will continue more seasons, we'll see how this turns out. For now, I was satisfied with this series and I already watched the first episode of my man Daryl's spin off, which I must say left me very curious and eager to keep watching.

    The Walking Dead - Dead City: Doma Smo - Season 1 - Episode 6 - RECAP INTRODUCTION - www.skiptvads.blog
"We are at Home" Doma Smo, as the tittle of episode six says we are at home makes me think if now Negan is at home?? I have now finish season one of Dead City, probably the first spin off of the original The Walking Dead series that really has nothing to do with zombies, at the same time I was watching Daryl Dixon that is a bit different in that sense because over there it has to do a lot with Zombies but not in the traditional way where they are after you only. Season One of Dead City still feels a bit slow and to be honest episode six does feel like a to be continue episode, lot of things are left hanging and we will have to wait for season two, Hollywood Strike is over meaning that productions will start to catch up so probably we will have season two next year. Episode six finally reveal the true reason why Maggie went looking for Negan, on episode five Giny call Maggie a liar after she find out there was no missing grain at the Hill Top before he escape to Manhattan looking for Negan, episode six also confirm that anyone who thought that The Croat or Maggie wanted to kill Negan it was never the case, the man was more safe than a deposit box, at Manhattan they wanted Negan to lead them, a higher power was behind the curtain waiting, wanting him to be the new king of the hill for the war that is ahead them. www.skiptvads.blog - tv series divider The Walking Dead - Dead City: Doma Smo - Season 1 - Episode 6 - RECAP EPISODE DETAILS - www.skiptvads.blog

After Giny and Maggie got out of the tunnels for some mystic reason they met with Negan, that's how TV works so don't ask me because Negan and Perlie were on their way to the dock, Manhattan is so fucking huge and they just some how manage to met again after all the debacle that is going on, I really thought Giny was going to talk this time like finally she is going to spill the beans but it was Negan that kept talking about how she should not be there etc etc and I was like LET THE GIRL TALK!! but she didn't and Maggie had the chance to dodge a bullet on the spot after Negan ask him if she knew anything about Giny been there to what she answer mmmeee?? NNNOOO!! asking like she doesn't know Giny can set her liar ass on fire anytime she wants, meh Negan goes with Maggie after he gave a pep talk to Giny and Marshall Perlie takes Giny back to firm land, back to the Hill Top, at this point Giny becomes irrelevant for the rest of the episode.

    Source

Negan and Maggie take refugee inside a tall building, looking out side the window waiting for someone to show up on the streets, The Croat? , well I'm not sure about that because if I was looking for someone I would probably be on the roof top where I have more sight, anyways TV magic again and a car shows up on the main street.

    Source

You tell me how they know its The Croat? they decided to go after the car, unless they car parks on the main street, that it didn't it would be easy to find it ON FOOT!!! this are the things that I dont like about episode six, all this details feel rush, may be when you are watching the episode you dont pay much attention but its the adrenaline and dopamine running through your brain that makes you forget about it, how the fuck they go down twenty story building and still have energy to run after the car??

    Source

See,it was not on the main road but lets say that big smoke cloud helps them to locate it, after all Zombies don't know how to start a fire so there must be humans inside, as they walk into the building, good old silver fox Negan question Maggie about why Giny would come to Manhattan and if she knew anything about it, like he just wanted to understand Giny, you know been a good guy, probably even good step father. It is here where Maggie drops the ball telling Negan she assume Giny wanted to talk to him explain him why she came to Manhattan and Negan was like "Giny talk to me? Did she talk to you? When did Giny start fucking talking?" Giny doesnt even talk with herself, barely whistle.

    Source

    Source

Maggie pulls one of her knifes after she look at Negan and probably though "Fuck I just fuck it up...Giny talking, that was so stupid of me", tries to stab Negan but he manage to run away until they get to this scene where they are fighting on top of a structure with a lot of Zombies below them, I knew none of them were going to fall so it was a bit over the top and predictable, you tell me if Negan doesn't want to change his life and make up for his mistakes in the past that he doesn't kill Maggie and even let her turn him in.

    Source

At this point he finally understood why The Croat took Hershel and why Maggie went looking for Negan, it look weird that when The Croat was chasing him at the stadium it was like he was trying to be friends with him to the point he thought about it latter on but still Negan wanted to do the right thing and help Maggie get back her son from The Croat. The Croat tells Negan how he has been looking for him for months, he want him alive, how after thinking how to get him finally find out about Maggie and knew she was going to be the key to get Negan, Doma Smon saying like we are home Negan, its here where we belong.

    Source

They get to a bank where the exchange is going to happen, they had Hershel inside the bank safe, at this point Negan still doubt if he is going to be ok but in that universe they are its most likely he might die, Negan gives in without putting any fight and the only thing he ask from Maggie is to take care of Giny, Maggie felt shitty but probably her thirst of revenge against him was bigger, Maggie gets Hershel but her son is still kidnap even when its free in the out world, mentally Hershel is broken, they already had all kind of problems him knowing about what happen to his father and thinking Maggie tries to safe the world for everyone except him.

    Source

After Marshall Perlie drops off Giny at the Hill Top where for now she agree to stay, Perlie goes back to New Babylon where is gets interview by their leader, he let Negan live after they bond, remember Negan safe his ass at the island more than once so he was in debt with him.

    Source

    Source

Perlie sits there at the office with a few other Marshall, he is welcome as a hero, lie his ass telling them how he killed Negan, I really thought they were going to hang him, Perlie been at Manhattan was actually a happy accident for New Babaylon, seems they are interested in The Croat Methane Mix, he have found a we to turn Zombies into fuel, meaning they can have tech running again, not only cars but generators and other type of machinery with the most abundant resource on Earth at the moment, Zombies.

    Source

Back at Manhattan, we get to the final straight of the episode, pedal to the metal, The Croat takes Negan back to their hide out, the building that had the big smoke cloud at the back, its a theater, at the dressing room was the lady he talk to on episode five, The Dama, wtf is with this people and their nicknames starting with "THE", drop the THE (Facebook), its on this final scene that we get all the details of The Croat plan well The Dama plan because he is just a the tool to get their fuel and now get to Negan, the leader she was looking for, seems Manhattan is split between many groups but united can become a strong force not to fuck with and that's what she wants, for some time now she hold control over a good part of Manhattan but there is also Harlem, even during the Zombie Apocalypse Harlem remains strong, she believes main land already know of their Zombie based fuel and they coming for it, she also tells Negan how all this can be his she just need him to lead the pack and not to leave him with unanswered questions she explain how she cleverly got him sitting where he is at right now, getting Hershel was not enough so she personally question him and crack him up to the point his soul is now hers, she even took a souvenir, pinky toe, so he never forgets she can go back and take another one, Hershell tells her about how Negan killed his father, besides they have been tracking him, getting intel on him and she figure out Negan must be trying to change his life, make up for his mistakes thats how she knew he would not say NO to help Maggie when she ask for.

    The Walking Dead - Dead City: Doma Smo - Season 1 - Episode 6 - RECAP CONCLUSION - www.skiptvads.blog

Episode six I think gives a good closure but at the same time it doesn't, it finally tell us exactly why The Croat took Hershel, why Maggie went looking for Nega because episode five tells us it was The Croat that ask her to look for him and bring Negan to him but not the reason why, The Dama came up to the stage and in less than ten minutes gives in all the details that help us crack the code of season one, Negan is the lone wolf they have been looking to lead and unite Manhattan Pack, The Dama loves Negan talent to put up a show and showing the rest who has big balls even when out number and out gun, exactly the type of leader she is looking for to control the entire island, for now looks like her intentions is not to conquer the world but to protect what they have and New Babylon the invaders but that still to be prove on season two.

There were a lot of details that I didn't like about the series like how they move from one place to another, how they always manage to find each other like they wearing an Apple Tag or something but still when watching TV series you need to understand all this is fiction, meaning all this is a lie and bull shit like that goes on.

For season two I don't think Maggie, Hershel of the Hill Top is out of the equation, as a fact because of Hershel and Maggie their entire community will be at risk, Marshal Perlie is been interview and caught bullshitting so what if he tells about the Hill Top?? New Babylon would love to take over it, with all the problems going on between Maggie and Hershel, he might run back to The Dama, when the episode is about to be over Maggie found Hershel's drawings most refer to when he was kidnap and there was a portrait from The Dama so stupid Hershel can run back to her if he feels his mother is not on his side or he doesn't feel safe or had any other trauma that makes him feel safer over at Manhattan, I see season two been the invasion of Manhattan, not a bad tittle. Finally I'm done with season one, soon will build up an overall recap giving my opinion about it.

The Walking Dead - Dead City: Stories We Tell Ourselves - Season 1 - Episode 5 - RECAP INTRODUCTION - www.skiptvads.blog

Usually on Saturday I only post once but today I wanted to do a back to back Walking Dead Spin Off post since there is the Mexico GP I want to write about but also want to continue this two series I'm about to finish specially because there is another spin off about to start next year.

Episode three of Dead City was pack with action when Maggie, Negan, Tomaso and Amaia try to take over the stadium where The Croat was but it all look odd how nothing went according to their plan, I get that Ginny fucked up half of the plan but still it was like The Croat had everything plan to slip away leaving them behind fighting a mass of Zombies inside the stadium, main characters got away but the rest of the crew that was with them not, Negan end up splitting because after been the bait to lure The Croat out he ended as the prey, he is an old silver fox so he knows how to defend himself and survive but it was a different story for Amaia and Tommaso who took the sewers as their route to escape from the stadium, it was full of Zombies but there were some really weird things down there like an entire wall of flesh and fat don't know from what exactly and then this three on one Zombie on the cover image, on this episode a couple of things that were reveal start to give closure and sense to season one of Dead City, opening the door to Season Two that has been approve already coming up next year but it would depend if Hollywood strike ends.

    Source

After everyone try to look their way out of the stadium Negan end up been prisoner of Marshal Armstrong who even after he safe him from the void, The Croat throw Perlie of the stairs to the void showing some good faith to Negan; I mention on my previous post that it was like he wanted to be friends with Negan but you never know with this crazy bastards it might all be a trick to get you, thats how you survive.

Negan tries to get into Perlie good side, remind him how he safe him from The Croat, how he can get a boat so both get out of the island but Perlie has everything figure out, after all he knows very well New York, he was from the Bronx and knew he need no boat, all the need was the dock that floats, he is getting Negan justice one way or another.

    Source

    Source

They kept going on their way to the dock so they could get out of the island but at a point they were cornered by Zombies, force them to get into what looks like a school, inside the find the remaining of a person who suicide, most likely was alone and could not handle the situation, either out of food, water, alone and setup a stand with books that held an ax, there was a bottle probably of some kind of booze next the corps on a table, this remind Perlie of his brother who he recently discover dead in his old apartment, his brother did something similar and left back a letter. It must be a very exhausting situation living like this, you don't know when its going to end, you constantly have to look for food, watch out for your safety because not only Zombies want to eat you but humans might want to eat you too or raid your place, probably worst than living in a place at war.

    Source

Negan has change and its not the same man he once was, I kept saying this through all episodes, he tries to escape from Perlie but at some point he catch up although was not in a position to fight Negan, Perlie is hurt badly on a leg and might get caught easy by Zombies, Negan stops and help him, not been the man he use to be is going to become a problem for him soon, I think this might happen sooner on episode six.

    Source

    Source

Tommaso, Amaia, Maggie and Ginny are walking through the sewers, trying to get as far as possible form the stadium and here is where everything comes to light, on second image above Tommaso goes behind one of this barrels, take of his backpack to pull something out of it.

    Source

    Source

Turns out he is now the luckiest man in the entire Zombie Apocalypse, he just found two full bottles of oxygen with their mask and everything but he didn't count that Maggie was way more sharp than he is and saw him taking the oxygen bottles out of his backpack, then she starts connecting the dots and figure out it was him who told The Croat about the plan, it was Tommaso all this time and that's how The Croat got away and they stay trapped, when they were all corner at the stadium inside the octagon he was the only one missing at some point and came from the back to help them, this was no coincidence, he might not know exactly how things were going to happen but was way more steps ahead than the rest so that make him look like the mighty hero of the night, saving everyone ass. Maggie end his theater and take off the mask, letting Amaia know all the truth but latter on her pants got on fire too liar liar, pants on fire.

    Source

They had no other option and kept going, is not like they would go back or stay there, on this series every single man or women that act as a cheap bitch, a sell out, a snitch dies one way or another and some times pay back is so sweet, the sewers not only were full or dead bodies but some of them were Zombies, they walk and walk without finding any troubles until they took a rest because of all the methane. While they were taking a rest there was another big revelation, Tommaso told Maggie the truth about why he did it, The Croat promise him a place to stay in mainland, a place where everything was made of brick, guess what that place is? Hill Top, now Maggie has no other option to get Hershel and fly out of there is possible as fast as she can to get everyone ready at home to defend themself.

    Source

    Source

It was there when the took a rest when they got attacked, Tommaso and Amaia got the worst part of it, Tommaso got Amaia killed because if it wasn't for him then probably the would not be down the sewers, he also got attacked and bitten on his neck badly, it was only Ginny and Maggie left but then Mr. Zombie, the one at the cover of this post; show up while Maggie got her foot stuck inside one of the corps laying down, leaving her still and all he could do was lay on her back and try to defend from this mutated Zombie, it look like someone put it together but would not be strange if Zombies remains could get stuck between them, its like there is a pile of them and they are so rotten they can go through each other but at some point get stuck inside another Zombie's body, at least that's how I think it could happen because Zombies do not grow or regenerate, all they can do is disintegrate, rot or turn apart.

    Source

All this time I have been thinking that Ginny only came back for Negan to be with him because she didn't like Hill Top but that was not the only reason, when she was escaping Ginny was near a Silo and Maggie kept telling Negan how The Croat tool all their grain but at the Hill Top when she arrive they had food so before she hop on the dirt bike an escape she check the Silo and it was full. Maggie kills the six foot tall Zombie but she was exhausted and out of oxygen until she got out of a tunnel to escape, same tunnel that Ginny took and wrote on the wall LIAR, it was at this moment that Ginny knows something, probably not everything but something that can lead Negan to the real reason she wanted Negan to help her.

    Source

    Source

I really like this kind of scenes where you don't know what the fuck is going on but something is cooking. The Croat gave Maggie the Wanted Man flyer where Negan show up, he took Hershel; her son so she get him Negan, this is still and unknown reason for me same way as he visits this women who was inside a theater with another bunch of people, she looks like the one running town and both want Negan although I cant figure out why. Its like she wants Negan to lead her people or an army, she was reading a book of The European Conquest of Native American, so that takes me to this conclusion, she is preparing for something big, probably to defend themself from getting conquered from mainland.

The Walking Dead - Dead City: Stories We Tell Ourselves - Season 1 - Episode 5 - RECAP CONCLUSION - www.skiptvads.blog

Different than Daryl Dixon spin off, Dead City is turning to be very good TV Series, entertain, traitors left and right, people lying to each other to try to survive thinking they have an advantage to the guy next to them but its actually not the case, that's how so far has been between Maggie and Negan, also Tommaso and Amaia close to the end but they were not lucky enough to survive, The Croat has been playing all of them all this time and the one that knows the less out of all of them is Negan so I guess how is he going to react once he discover the truth, at least Maggies real plan, at some point the good old Negan is coming back and who knows if Lucile shows up too, that would be a proper ending to this season or start for season two.

    The Walking Dead - Dead City: Everybody Wins a Prize - Season 1 - Episode 4 - RECAP INTRODUCTION - www.skiptvads.blog
Lucille makes it back to the screen, that is Negan's baseball bat name, on his left next to him with the top full of barbed wire that is what he use to smash Maggie's husband head in front of everyone just to put on a show, through the series even if they kinda bond, Maggie and Negan; from her side it still feels she had that desire of vengeance and who would not after how Negan savagely killed Glenn, after all for her is all about that moment, she is trying to rescue her son Hershel with the man that killed her husband, it all comes back to the moment they met.

Episode four starts with that moment that Negan has mention before, the moment he knew The Croat was a problem, savage dog without a leash and he had to take care of business, cant let The Croat running around disobeying his orders and making important decisions on his own, what let Negan to take action was when The Croat torture a girl "just to be sure" she was not a scout, it was brutal, she was still a teen.

This look on Maggie is exactly what makes me think she obviously still wants to kill Negan, I would even bet she swore to kill him after her husband death, on this scene everyone is looking for Luther, the big guy from the local group Negan had problems with and eventually killed unintentionally on Episode Three.

    Source

The start moving out, on their way to take over the stadium and kill The Croat but first they go down to the train station, its a place also use for interrogation and torture so probably Hershel is there. Through the entire season Negan has basically been trying to make things up with Maggie, trying to be on her good side, I might think there are two reasons for this first that Giny is staying at Hill Top and second because he killed Glenn, on this scene they see a guy probably similar age to Hershel, he is dead and Negan will lift his head to see if its really Hershel, looks like Maggie didn't had the strength to go through that suffering so he did it for her.

    Source

Amaia had everything figure out how to take over the stadium and lure The Croat out of it using Negan as bait but Maggie was action all suspicious besides before they went out Negan ask her if she has seen his matches and Maggie said no, weird then before they roll out of that room, above picture; she had Negan's matches on her pocket so she is lying about basic stuff so why she wont be lying about something bigger. This is the moment that IMO confirms Maggie had plans for Negan, not sure what is it but its not help him get back to Giny when its all done.

    Source

To make things worst for Negan, before they left Maggie saw something shiny, familiar on Negan's bag-pack, it was Luther's wax that he didn't want to share with Negan, at this point Maggie knows Negan has been lying about Luther but now also consider that he killed Luther too.

    Source

Amaia plan is rolling, Negan gets to the garage and starts his classic whistle and The Croat recognize him right away, question is how was The Croat that close to the garage at that very moment, probably TV Show coincidence but they all thought he would be alone so he just takes off after Negan and left the Burazi pack without their leader at the stadium.

    Source

Something wrong happen with their plan or then how The Croat react to it so easy? he must know something they don't, first he was not alone at the garage, the Burazi were with him and second the moment Amaia and the rest of her crew was inside the stadium the doors blew up letting all the Zombies in besides they were playing loud music to get the Zombies inside the stadium.

    Source

    Source

Maggie was suppose to help Negan to lure The Croat out of the stadium but she could not because fucking Giny shows up and she goes after her ending in the middle of the arena inside the octagon surrounded by all the Zombies that just got in, lucky them there were not that many Zombies inside so they grap the protective material from the octagon and use it as a shield to push Zombies out of their way all of the sudden Tommaso shows up to help, where the fuck was him?

    Source

Tommaso, Amaia, Maggie and Giny where the only ones to make it out, from the group that got into the stadium, but got trapped into a room that had access to the sewers, problem is that its filled with bodies, so many of them that its highly contaminated with methane gas, Tommaso already use that route back in the day when he escape from The Croat and it didn't sound like the best experience so I would expect a few nasty scenes coming up on the next episode.

    Source

After The Croat heard Negan they start chasing him around but the plan was to jack up a car and let him chase Negan out of the stadium, that didn't work because they were too many of them so Negan didn't had time to jump into a car so he got back into the stadium, The Croat never attempt to shoot Negan he wanted him alive but on this scene he says "I come only in the spirit of friendship..." like he really wanted to talk with Negan, who knows what for but the everyone thought he would only wanted to kill Negan.

The Croat throws Perlie Armstrong, the Marshall that was after Negan but on his way down he manage to hang on to the railing and Negan safe him, this is until now a new Negan, he is now old and wants to live in peace so he is trying to make things up for others that he hurt in the past.

    Source

Sometimes life is a real bitch, doesn't matter how you try to fix things up that you fucked up in the past at the end it all comes back, even after Negan saved his ass, Marshall Perlie still wanted to arrest him, the moment he got his hand of one of those hock guns he point it at Negan and freeze him.

    The Walking Dead - Dead City: Everybody Wins a Prize - Season 1 - Episode 4 - RECAP CONCLUSION - www.skiptvads.blog

Episode Four was a solid episode for me, lot of details that had to pay attention to like Maggie and Negan lying to each other, the matches, the wax, Luther missing, also how The Croat knew they were coming, the stadium doors blowing up, the Zombies walking toward Maggie and Amaia getting them trapped inside the arena octagon, but something that got me thinking is why Giny there? I'm probably going to burn a two good hours tonight watching the last two episodes, I really don't like this new spin off format of only six episodes, yes they are long episodes but thats not like the OG series format was and not even Fear The Walking Dead is. So far this is probably the best episode of the season with only two to go so I'm curious about how strong the season will end, good 7.5/10

    The Walking Dead – Dead City : People Are a Resource – Season 1 – Episode 3 – RECAP INTRODUCTION - www.skiptvads.blog
Negan is definitely showing a side we didn't see on The Walking Dead original series, at least until the part I left; until now for an unknown reason he demonstrates he truly cares about Giny, we don't know why she staying we him neither, she doesn't talk and her actions are not so predictable, I doubt her trauma is only the Zombies or her family got robbed or killed, there has to be more than that or that she got autism, its normal for autistic kids not to talk but they can do everything else just fine, I think I'm getting to far with Giny character. Negan with all this kind side of him gets me thinking at some point he been Negan is going to get tired of been the good guy, he does explain Maggie why he was the way he was when he killed her husband, he mainly did it to protect his people and he got over it but does get me thinking that if the time comes and they can get rid of The Croat or even Maggie is some how lying to him about her reasons to get The Croat then Negan can turn around his mind set of been the good guy and help others to be the FUCK YOU I RULE and take over Manhattan, I think for anyone who knows him from the original series might be thinking this way, like going to both ends of the rope with him, he could be the nasty guy he was or the peaceful survivor he is now.

The new characters, Tommaso, Amaia, Im not sure if its the actors or the character themself or the fact that Im expecting more from the series but for me they falling short compare to Negan or Maggie, even Giny impress me more, probably down the road, if they dont die first; I get to like them more.

www.skiptvads.blog - tv series divider FATAL ATTRACTION S01E02 RECAP EPISODE DETAILS - www.skiptvads.blog

    Source

Been the random girl she is, mostly because she doesn't talk or express herself; Giny is starting to be the one that surprises the most on this episode, at first it was obvious she didn't want to stay a Hilltop, she felt awkward when she was presented to the rest of the kids on the class but from there to escape, steal a dirt bike and jump in to what looks like a tub or cooler and get to Manhattan that's extreme, plus this part is a bit unbelievable if we start to think straight. The water current has to be super calm so she can get to the other side on that tub and just a piece of wood to row, she might get to the other side but even if it doesn't look that far she could end a few miles away to the left from the picture we getting, after all she doesn't not know where Negan is, that's the other wild part of the story how is she going to find him before the Burazi find her first.

    Source

Lets face it, no body likes Negan, at least not at first and it has to be said, while Tommaso and Amaia where talking about how hard it would be to get into the arena and extract Maggie's son plus killed The Croat again Negan past actions had to be mention, The Croat is his reflection extrapolate to a few X more so he knows how he thinks and how he can be defeated, one way is to turn his people and they know it work because that is what happen to him, bit by bit Amaia is starting to know more about Negan and she seem to dont like him, who could knowing what the savage he was, specially Luther he wants the to go because what they are about to commit is far more dangerous than their plan to survive and get them all killed.

    Source

From all the survivor group the only one been straight up to Maggie and Negan is Luther, I think both Tommaso and Amaia are just hyped that finally they got someone who can get them The Croat and they are blind by this mission, they cant see that if things go wrong they will end up dead or worst as prisoners, Maggie and Negan are use to this kind of YOLO plans and go for it but Luther might be right, they will all die. Luther goes as far as telling Maggie how crazy her plan was, for what? for her son? "You know he is already dead".

    Source

Negan shows his kind side again, after they break the conversation about the plan, it ended with Luther telling Maggie his son is dead; Negan brings her a shirt for Hershel, a gift; to cheer her up and then came up the classic conversation of the last time she saw her son but more important than that Negan tells the story of how his wife Annie was beat up, this I had to look up because since I never finish the original series didn't know who Annie was; five guys beat up Annie and robbed her, this was in New Babylon where they got laws now and are trying to rebuild society so Negan killed the five guys who hurt Annie that's when Marshall start to chase him so he was on the run, to protect Annie he had to put her and who I assume is his son Joshua in a wagon train to Missouri and said he will be right behind him but never did, he split to protect them, this break his heart and he even cry when talking about it.

    Source

I got to the conclusion that Negan is probably trying to be a father for Giny for all the bad things he have done or for his wife and son who he had to see go, and Giny also see Negan as a father, probably why she stick to him and wont let go, she also look aware of the world they living in and if she didn't go to Manhattan with him would probably never see him again.

After dinner Luther decides to confront Negan at night, he found his Wanted Men sign that he kept with him, they start a fight and Negan picks up the most bizarre weapon he could find, a cheese grater, Luther pics him up and give him the good old bear hug, Negan cuts his forehead with the cheese grater, Luther stumbles, falls on his back and there was a pipe, probably gas pipe that goes through the back of his head, Luther dead. Obviously this will be a body that Negan wont be able to hide, physically yes but I'm talking about the lie that he tells next morning when everyone ask for Luther.

    The Walking Dead – Dead City : People Are a Resource – Season 1 – Episode 3 – RECAP CONCLUSION - www.skiptvads.blog

The more I write about this series the more I find how far it is from been as good as the original series, I have mention before that I want to watch the OG series again and finish it but people keeps mentioning how it got boring towards the end but I feel that to enjoy more this spin off you have to watch the OG series.

I haven't mention The Croat that much because even though he is the main bad guy of the series he is irrelevant so far, everything happening right now is within Maggie's group and how she is giving the orders when the rest just follow her, I hope they don't make The Croat fall easy because then it would be too predictable and turn into a shitty series, its only episode 3, it starts to show some action, develop the Manhattan story, getting to know more about Tommaso and Amaia, also about what happen to Maggie and Negan after the OG series, its half way of season one so I'm not expecting them to kill The Croat on this season but for sure will try. Been a short season with only six episodes doesn't give it much time for story telling so next episode they will most likely go after The Croat, so far I'm enjoying the series but I don't know why at times it still doesn't feel that great, probably because I'm expecting more from it since its a spin off, been the third one after Fear The Walking Dead and Tales of the Walking Dead, the first one was great even though didn't finish that one neither so I think I'm expecting just too much of the series and should take it for what it is.

    The Walking Dead - Dead City : Who's There? – Season 1 – Episode 2 – RECAP INTRODUCTION - www.skiptvads.blog
This is one of those series where people will be expecting for it to be as good as the original, The Walking Dead; but everything is different on its own way, some of the characters might be the same but there are new stories, new motives, now zombies are not the topic at hand but people themself, I think for the most part of the original series, the last seasons; most likely were not about the Zombies and that's when part of the audience abandon the series but those who were fan of the charterers carry on. Starting next month October I'm planing on starting to watch a few long series like The Walking Dead, series I never finish mostly due to the amount of episodes but its been years trying to appreciate TV Series and I think I can now finish it.

That is Dead City, its about the characters and not about the Zombies anymore, its very unlikely that characters on the series will be killed because Zombies got them, for the most part it will be because they were betray, left behind, were hurt, many other reasons but not because they got chase and trap by Zombies. Negan and Maggie are going and learning this jungle that is Manhattan but at the same time they are going to know each other better, they got a lot of story between them but have never work as a team, like now; both with a common goal and assets on the line like the kids they want to protect, but Maggie probably didn't know both sides of Negan, she only knew the monster who killed her husband.

Negan is and old dog now, he was retired, but still has a bag full of tricks, Maggie and him are after The Croat, in a city that is not their own, they don't know it but as he once mention, he knows how The Croat operates, after all it was him who train him, he had one chance to put him down once he saw what a savage he was but he miss, he also shows on a few scenes, when Esther was killed Negan didn't went nuts and blew his brains out mediated but instead he did what he does best, put up a show for his friends and let them know who is the big dog.

On Dead City there is a zip line system between buildings that people use to move from one to another, Maggie stuff was taking by a strange lady and they don't know where they going, they just start chasing her but at the same time Zombies are getting closer, here hit me a original series flash back, was the perfect opportunity for Negan to stab her in the back and not throw her back the slider and let her probably get eaten or just ran away but he didn't, Negan has no agenda on this series, he just want to stay away from the Marshall that is after him and go back with Giny and make sure she is safe.

    Source

Esther was the first person who was friendly to them in Manhattan, once they got to her now they met Tommaso and Amaia, at that point they don't know what to think about them but have a feeling they are not with The Croat, Amaia is the brains, Tommaso the muscle and both are leader to a small group of survivors against The Croat but this Negan and Maggie don't know yet.

Source Maggie and Negan are put into time out until Tommaso and Amaia figure out who they really are, Maggie is on a hurry because she wants to get Hershel, her son; back from The Croat and Negan he already know how this works, he invented the game, so patiently waits and avoid confrontation as they were disarm and out number. In this room Negan explains Maggie who The Croat was, how he took him into his brother hood, called him Buraz (brother), but Negan had no idea the monster that The Croat was, Negan different than him was a man who only act when it was necessary but The Croat was different, he knew to sniff people and figure out what they were after if not he would make them speak one way or another, methods that Negan didn't agree at first but were useful in the world they were living until one day The Croat went too far, a girl, a drifter who Negan felt was not a threat to them but The Croat felt different and despite Negan direct order he killed her, a kid, in his own words "rabid dog that needed to be put down" that's when Negan knew this man was a train wreck, tried to put a bullet to his head but he missed and only blew up his ear.

    Source

    Source

The Burazi (The Croat's people) got to their place so Nega, Maggie, Tommaso and Amaia had to pick up things and run away but Esther got caught by one of them and killed by one of the Burazi, don't what their orders were but kept repeating "Doma smo", in Croatian (Google translate) "We are at home", this is when Negan knew it was time to play some mind games.

    Source

    Source

Negan takes the Burazi that killed Esther, kick his ass and went to the room the rest of them were, starts a knock knock joke and then cut his neck and guts out, creating a thunderstorm of blood on top of the Burazi, you really need to be a bad ass to not get intimidated by Negan's actions, a man who can cut up some one this easy without thinking twice is dangerous and wont stop until he gets what he wants. This is what Negan meant when he told Maggie he knew when he had to act to protect his people, in this moment he was at work performing to protect Maggie and the rest, this shocked her since she was looking when Negan cut up the Burazi.

    Source

While Maggie and Negan were risking their lives at Manhattan there was Giny, who was staying safe at Hiltop, Maggie's home town; but she was not feeling welcome neither ok staying there, she wants to be with Negan for some reason and there is something on Giny probably learn from Negan, to read people and I think there is something more than what Maggie said about The Croat, Maggie at first mention The Croat took all their grain and her son to make sure Hiltop keeps bringing in more supplies to when ever the Burazi comes back, Giny runs away and is now on her way to Negan. I wonder how she going to locate them, they are in Manhattan, had to cross a big river, may be she finds a boat too but in such large city how she going to find them? its TV after all so anything can happen.

    The Walking Dead - Dead City : Who's There? – Season 1 – Episode 2 – RECAP CONCLUSION - www.skiptvads.blog

I like how the city is presented, looks like a jungle that will eat you up, just like most cities in Asia with dense population, except here the population is dead but can still eat you, reminds me The Last of Us where the city was also infected and cover up with vegetation. This episode is the clear example of how the story rewinds and start to unfold what probably many didn't think about, why Negan was the man he was, what happen to him that he turn that way because on The Walking Dead when he killed Maggie's husband that was probably one of the coldest scenes ever on the series, slam him with the bat right on the head in front of the rest of the prisoners, Maggie been one of them, but he did all this to protect his people. Even after all this years while Maggie has also become more strong and though than others she is not a Negan level, she saw how the big dog turns on the switch and step up when needed, we now have to sides at war, Amaia and Tommaso will most likely take in Maggie and Negan, help them to kill The Croat or at least try because I'm sure wont be that easy. Spin off are hard to accept, they need to bring in something new to the story and I think Dead City does, brings in the true Negan and not just more Zombies or side stories, at least I'm interested to know The Croat and Negan story, how they started, things that happen in between and how this ends for both.

    The Walking Dead - Dead City : Old Acquaintances – Season 1 – Episode 1 – RECAP INTRODUCTION - www.skiptvads.blog

I didn't finish watching the Walking Dead and I have been planning on retake it but from the start, same as its parallel series Fear The Walking Dead, I remember those times, those were great times for Tv Series and everyone was into it for many months just waiting for the next episode to air but I have to say it is one of those series that can make you feel sad for everything that the characters go through, The Walking Dead - Dead City is more of an action series, even without knowing the end of the original series it doesn't surprise me that she make it alive, after all she went through but the real twist is that now she have to work with the man who savagely killed the man she loved, Negan smash Glenn head with his bat in front of her and now she is asking for his help to rescue her child from a man who use to work for Negan, The Croat.

Zombies on this series are more like an accessory, yes there are still a lot to kill but they are not the main issue, although are a great problem considering Maggie and Negan went to the place with the most dense Zombie population, Manhattan was one of the epicenter of the Zombie Apocalypse there for there are millions of them on a small place, they still slow and weak, humans have develop a kind of of rope system that helps them travel from one building to another without touching ground so you can say the ground is dominated by the Zombies and humans travel through roof tops, society is also emerging again with new states or populations with Marshalls who enforce their laws, Negan is a wanted man and it seems this Marshalls wont stop until they get him so we have the zombies, the marshals and the Croat going after Negan and Maggie while they try to get her son back

I'm not sure how long this series will be in terms of how many seasons, but it already has a 7.9 rating on IMDB and would help to last for a few good seasons. It has to do a lot with its predecessor series that ended last year. The Walking Dead was a great series with a lot of fans that will follow any sequel as long as it is at least half as good as the original series, some of this actors made a decade out of Walking Dead and some keep pushing, you definitely have to be very talented to stay relevant for so long, the past two months after The Last of Us and Mandalorian season ended there was nothing exciting to watch but now Tv series are starting to pile up, great things coming up.

The first episode starts with Maggie tracking down first her son who got kidnap and then Negan but not necessary for pay back, Maggie is on a very desperate situation and got now choice but to ask for the help of the man who killed the man she loved very much, she is looking for him to ask for his help but on a world with a vast population of Zombies and humans trying to bounce back as a society no body likes outsiders sniffing around the place, Maggie gets to a motel's bar to have a few drinks with the excuse she got robbed at her place and the bar tender tells her there is a guy at who lives at the motel who can help her, Maggie already knows who is he talking about, its Negan and she came for him but a local gal put her eye on her and caught Maggie at Negan's room, but this woman is confuse she thinks Maggie came in behalf of some one else so they pin her down on a table and try to cut her face as a message, Maggie is a though fighter and after many years running away from Zombies and Negan she learn very well how to fight so she fuck them up and start chasing Negan who ran away with a little girl after he finds out Maggie is after him.

Maggie gets Negan down the road after chasing him, they are not friends, for now, and Negan thinks she wants pay back but he has no fear for her. They sit down and talk about the real reason why she is looking for him, few weeks back her place was raided, those who assault her took all her food and said will come back a few months latter for more but as collateral to make sure Maggie gets more food and resource for them they took her son Hershel, Negan is an old fox who wrote the book of how to extort people during Zombie Apocalypse so he quickly finds out the real reason why she is looking for him, the raiders took her kid and the guy who did it probably has something to do with him, a blast form the past. Negan agrees to help Maggie but only if she takes Ginny, the girl he is now protecting, to her place at the Hill Top where she will be protected, feed and go to school.

This Marshalls from New Babylon, a new independent state that is trying to build up society again and have put this men in charge to enforce their laws, they are no joke, they know how to track down guys, are well train and are good shooters. They are looking for Negan for murdering a magistrate and a few more, they don't want to put him in jail, they looking to execute him but when the Marshall show up and start telling his part of the story something doesn't match because he said Negan has build an empire like he still roles with his old crew but he is now alone, no a threat anymore to any large group of people. The same woman who had Maggie pin down to the table at the bar was questioned by the Marshall until she gave up and rat out Negan, to make an example out of her the Marshall throw her to a group of Zombies outside of the motel's fence while the rest of the people was looking.

Maggie and Negan got to a boat to cross the Hudson and land on Manhattan but right at that moment Marshalls arrive, a young one tries to sneak on them and Maggie got him, she brings him with them as insurance, not that she cares what happens to Negan but for now she needs him, been Negan he wants to throw him to the river as he will latter on become a liability, I don't think this guy has a very long life with them but she refuse to kill him and its here where Negan starts to preach truth and let her know its just survival and he is one of the best at doing it not because he is a bad guy but because he does what ever he needs to do to survive and keep those with him alive while Maggie is still thinking about good and bad guys, Negan has a wider way of thinking and how to navigate the world they living in to stay alive.

I don't remember see The Walking Dead develop inside a city with tall buildings and for sure not inside an island, in the case of this scene Walkers heard Jano, the Marshall apprentice fall and since there are Walkers everywhere there are Walkers on the roof top so they start falling like its raining Walkers, we also see the water infested with floating Walkers and I'm sure there must be those that have sink for some reason wondering at the bottom.

This is the main villain of the story so far, The Croat, as describe by Negan one of the most crazy psycho that use to work with him back in the day, it seems that he now runs Manhattan with a new crew with similar practices to what he use to do back in the day when he was part of Negan's crew, he loves torturing people and play mind games, on this scene he let a guy escape but only to cut the rope he use to slide from one building to another and see him fall from twenty floors, after seen the guy fall and scream, The Croat just laugh and said that has to be a new record, he does have Hershel and is still alive, if The Croat is anything or worst than Negan this is going to be a very interesting story because it wont be easy to surprise him.

    The Walking Dead - Dead City : Old Acquaintances – Season 1 – Episode 1 – RECAP CONCLUSION - www.skiptvads.blog

I'm loving this series, it puts a smile on my face on every episode, either excitement for all the action or Negan dark humor, having characters like Negan and Maggie as main really keeps the original series alive with now another battle field, a big city with tall buildings infested with walkers and with a similar threat like Negan was, audience support so far has been great with 82% on RTT and 7.9 on IMDB, at the moment of writing this post I have seen two episodes and the next episodes keeps reveling who Negan is, there is a lot I ignore about the original series as I never finish watch it but its also great they bring this part of him for new viewers to get interested and probably go and watch the original series, bring questions like "Was this guy so bad?" besides Maggie cant stop having flash backs from when he smash Glenn skull with his bat, that episode I saw and remember how cruel was it, there were moments that I close my eyes and cringe. I have to watch The Walking Dead again and Fear The Walking Dead too, this are two series that are as good as The Godfather or Braking Bad and it is still relevant, I'm not a comic guy but there is a Walking Dead universe that for sure will pump out more Tv series.
