Among the big disappointments (for me) is this film, about which I can say that the only interesting thing is its trailer, which is misleading because it is designed to make you believe that the film is going to be of a certain style, but when I saw it, I found a story that didn't appeal to me, as well as many irregularities that made it unbearable.

I have only seen two of director Lynne Ramsay's previous works, and they left a very good impression on me. We Need to Talk About Kevin and You Were Never Really Here are two films that I liked enough to follow this director closely and not miss her projects. Add to that the fact that the film has a good cast, with Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson in the lead roles, and it promised a lot. I ended up laughing at myself for being stupid enough to watch the whole film, which at times loses all meaning.

Grace and Jackson are the main characters. They leave the big city to go live in a country house in the heart of the United States. The house belonged to Jackson's uncle, who committed suicide, something he doesn't tell Grace at first. She is supposed to be a writer, but at least what we see is writing, and there is something that doesn't quite fit. There they will have their child, and what we see is Grace's personal crisis, a woman who suffers and must deal with postpartum depression.

Grace's behavior from the beginning is not really abnormal, so she is a little crazy and anxious before feeling frustrated because her life has changed after giving birth. She's a very sexy woman, she really likes to fuck, but as in many marriages, after the super hot stage, when the kids come along, things change, and Jackson, played by Pattinson, no longer seems to have any sexual desire for her, even though she always tries to cheer him up, that man is no longer turned on by his wife.

Here, the flawed storytelling becomes apparent, because the director keeps inserting flashbacks and dream sequences, products of Grace's imagination, creating a mixture that I found tiresome, boring, and which made me lose interest. I understand that his intention is to show the mental anguish a woman can experience after having her baby, living in that house, taking care of the home, wanting to have sex while her husband (who I can't remember what the hell he does for a living) seems to be having sex with other women, except her.

Jennifer Lawrence's performance has been highly praised, and it's not bad, but many of her scenes and the things her character does seemed so exaggerated to me that I feel no sympathy for her. If the director's idea is for us to feel compassion for this woman, he only managed to make me reject her, and she would be a crazy woman I would decide to stay as far away from as possible.

I kept watching it just to see how the story ended, but I had a hard time finishing it. I don't know, maybe it wasn't the right time to watch it, but it's one of the worst movies of the year. Not even Jennifer Lawrence's boobs can save it from being a total disaster.

It's a complete waste of time, it's your responsibility if you want to give it a chance and put up with that nonsense. Watch it and tell me what you think in the comments.

Entre las grandes decepciones (para mí) se encuentra esta película, de la que puedo decir que lo único interesante es su tráiler, que es engañoso porque está diseñado para hacerte creer que la película va a ser de un determinado estilo, pero cuando la vi, me encontré con una historia que no me llegó, además de muchas irregularidades que la hacían insoportable.

Solo he visto dos de las obras anteriores de la directora Lynne Ramsay, y me dejaron muy buena impresión. We Need to Talk About Kevin y You Were Never Really Here son dos películas que me gustaron lo suficiente como para seguir de cerca a esta directora y no perderme sus proyectos. Si a eso le sumamos que la película cuenta con un buen reparto, con Jennifer Lawrence y Robert Pattinson como protagonistas, prometía mucho, y acabé riéndome de mí mismo por ser tan estúpido como para ver toda la película, que en algunos momentos pierde todo su sentido.

Grace y Jackson son los protagonistas. Dejan la gran ciudad para irse a vivir a una casa de campo en el corazón de Estados Unidos. La casa pertenecía al tío de Jackson, que se suicidó, algo que él no le cuenta a Grace al principio. Se supone que ella es escritora, pero al menos lo que vemos es escritura, y hay algo que no encaja del todo. Allí tendrán a su hijo, y lo que vemos es la crisis personal de Grace, una mujer que sufre y debe lidiar con la depresión posparto.

El comportamiento de Grace desde el principio no es realmente normal, por lo que está un poco loca y ansiosa antes de sentirse frustrada porque su vida ha cambiado después de dar a luz. Es una mujer muy sexy, le gusta mucho follar, pero como en muchos matrimonios, después de la etapa súper caliente, cuando llegan los niños, las cosas cambian, y Jackson, interpretado por Pattinson, ya no parece tener ningún deseo sexual por ella, aunque ella siempre intenta animarlo, ese hombre ya no se excita con su mujer.

Aquí se nota la narración defectuosa de la historia, porque el director sigue insertando flashbacks y escenas oníricas, producto de la imaginación de Grace, creando una mezcla que me pareció cansina, aburrida y que me hizo perder el interés. Entiendo que su intención es mostrar la locura mental que puede experimentar una mujer después de tener a su bebé, vivir en esa casa, cuidar del hogar, querer follar mientras su marido (que no recuerdo qué coño hace para ganarse la vida) parece estar follando con otras mujeres, excepto con ella.

La actuación de Jennifer Lawrence ha sido muy elogiada, y no está mal, pero muchas de sus escenas y las cosas que hace su personaje me parecieron tan exageradas que no siento ninguna simpatía por ella. Si la idea del director es que sintamos compasión por esta mujer, solo consiguió mi rechazo, y sería una loca de la que decidiría mantenerme lo más alejado posible.

Seguí viéndola solo para ver cómo terminaba la historia, pero me costó un poco terminarla. No sé, quizá no era el momento adecuado para verla, pero es una de las peores del año. Ni siquiera las tetas de Jennifer Lawrence pueden salvarla de ser un desastre total.

Es una completa pérdida de tiempo, es tu responsabilidad si quieres darle una oportunidad y aguantar esas tonterías. Mírala y dime qué te parece en los comentarios.
