    "Did you ever kill anyone?"

"Yes, but they were all bad"

Ah, this line cracks me up every time. I know I shouldn't laugh but the line has me in laughter every time. The naive wife who thinks her husband is just a very boring sales agent but is actually a deep undercover spy and has been doing it for 17 years. She wants to punch him straight on the nose. He's been lying to her for all that time.

Hence the movie name True Lies.

You see, on the surface Harry is a regular 9-5 guy. He works as a salesman and has a regular family, that's made up of a wife and daughter. Harry is a regular person if you didn't look too much deeper. But if you peel back the layers you'll find that Harry is actually an international spy working deep undercover and undertaking various missions for the government.

All is well and no-one is any the wiser for a long time. His wife and daughter go about their daily business, and often-times it can get a little dull for his wife.

That is until a little excitement is thrown on her lap, quite literally.

Good old Simon. A REAL car salesman posing as a spy. The irony of this isn't lost on me here. Her husband is posing as a salesman and is a spy, whilst Simon here is posing as a spy and is a salesman!

Anyway, Simon's trick is to bring adventure back into bored housewife's lives. He pretends to be a spy in front of Harry's wife because he thinks she looks like a bored housewife. And, well, things are a little bit boring for her, so she gets a little excited when this comes across her path.

But, Harry spends his life around lies and subterfuge and notices that his wife isn't being honest with him almost immediately and sets about finding out what's going on in his wife's life.

Of course, it's not long before Harry discovers that his wife is being led on by a fake spy and it's just some dickhead trying to get his rocks off with his wife. And Harry deals with it, and well too. The scene where Simon pisses his pants is quite apt too!

But there is more that meets the eye with this film and I encourage you to watch it if you haven't. This one is one of the old greats, and a film when Arnie was in his prime and doing some of his best work.

I thoroughly recommend this to you guys!

  2. CineTV Contest: True Lies@sacra971141d

I love this week of CineTv Arnold Schwartzenegger is among my favorite actors. In fact, my little pincher dog has his first and last name on his veterinary card. And it is that he seems to me an actor with a lot of drive and desire to excel. So it's going to be hard to choose from more than twenty movies.

Deciding on true lies is dusting off an extraordinary film, with a large budget and scenes that became iconic.

CineTV Contest #60, invites us to share a film by this actor.

Very Special Agent Harry Tasker leads a double life. Harry works as an international spy for Omega, a top-secret government agency, while his family believes that he is a salesman. Both of their lives are about to take a huge hit.

For reasons of national security and to protect her, he has hidden his true profession from his wife Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis). This is believed by a bored computer salesman. Falling into the routine of marriage, Helen seeks an adventure that fills her with excitement and makes her feel interesting.

Harry discovers by accident that his Helen is having an affair and he puts all the resources of the company to find out who his wife is seeing.

The film moves us the mix between action, adventure and comedy, all combined with some good visual effects and it is a very entertaining film.

Helen ends up discovering Harry's true profession. There are phrases as funny as the one Helen says: I married Rambo, alluding to the counterpart to actor Sylvester Stallone. And he uses Schwarzenegger lines in his movies.

Helen is excited to find out the truth and ends up helping her Harry against the commando who is planning an attack. But his daughter is kidnapped by the bad guys and Harry must go rescue her.

We've got explosion effects, real planes, and lots of great visuals. It is one of the funniest Arnold Schwartzenegger movies in my opinion.

Whenever they show it on television I see it, I enjoy it a lot, it is highly recommended.

  3. True Lies (film): One of my favorite Arnie films@gooddream2814d

In the past few days I have focused on a couple of Arnold Schwarzenegger films, so I figured I may as well talk about what I consider to be one of his most entertaining.

    true-lies-japanese-movie-poster.jpg

Arnold plays the role of Harry Tasker, a relatively boring computer salesman with a lot of secrets that he must keep from everyone he knows, including and especially his family, who are completely unaware of his double life. He has the usual suburban house with a manicured garden, a family dog, and of course a troublesome teenage daughter.

He occassionally goes on "business trips" where he is actually infiltrating compounds on the other side of the planet (IE not selling computers) and he is, unsurprisingly, a one-man-army of sorts. His agency is called the "Omega Sector" and all the people involved in the agency help him cover and well, lie to his family about what he is really up to.

    hqdefault.jpg

There are so many reasons to love this movie: The action packed scenarios, the power of the Omega Sector, Jamie Lee Curtis' jaw-dropping transition, and of course the comedic elements of the movie that are brought on by Tom Arnold and especially Bill Paxton, who is absolutely phenomenal as a sleazebag used car salesman who pretends to be a spy in order to score dates.

The film stays engaging the entire way through, and even though it is still and Schwarzenegger film, so it is obvious what the ending is going to be, the movie remains fun for the actually quite long runtime of over 2 hours.

If you haven't seen this movie, i highly recommend that you make time for it as soon as you can. I have seen this movie at least 20 times and will watch it again today. It made hundreds of millions of dollars globally and it is easy for me to understand why. This is the highest rating I feel can possibly be given to action comedies with predictable endings.
