  1. Tunnel (2016) - A tunnel collapses and a man gets trapped beneath it@dedicatedguy2207d

Claustrophobic people will surely have a hard time watching this Korean film. The story is about a man who is going back to his family for the birthday party of his daughter. He goes inside a tunnel that goes through a mountain, seconds later he hears some weird noises, and then the whole tunnel begins to collapse!

He gets trapped but luckily he isn't badly injured, just a little bit in shock about the situation he is now in. The first thing he managed to do is check his phone to see if it works and try to make some calls. Despite the collapse and his destroyed car, his cellphone is still fine. It only has a broken screen and it works nicely.

Once he communicates with the emergency services, his wait begins. Rescuing him will not be an easy task because there is so much debris that getting to him will take some time, besides, his exact location inside the tunnel isn't clear. So figuring that out would be another massive challenge.

The performances from the cast were good, however, after making a discovery while being trapped in the tunnel, the main character adopts an extremely kind attitude and even putting his own life at risk. Let's take into account this character is a father and a husband, his priority should be surviving this disaster instead of adding more risk to his situation. In real life, he would have adopted a more rational selfish attitude.

We can also see the difficulties in managing this type of rescue mission even in a wealthy country such as South Korea. How hard it can be to get the right equipment sent to the place of the disaster, and the general slowness this type of operations can take. Hours and days begin to pass as the victim waits inside the collapsed tunnel without knowing if he is going to survive or not.

This is a good movie to watch if you enjoy this type of survival thriller/drama where you don't know if the person is going to be rescued or not. And as I say in the beginning, this movie's plot is probably the worst nightmare for claustrophobic people.

    The best

    • It was a good drama and the scenes when the tunnel is collapsed were intense.
    • There are a few comedy scenes that could please the audience even though the movie is mostly a drama.

    The worst

    • The "twist" wasn't at all unexpected. It also made the ultimate result less believable.
    • Being such a nice person under extreme circumstances isn't something most people would do.

@cheva2524d
    post
