Classic horror movies have some prominent themes. One of the most common ones is to take a wrong turn for whatever reason and suddenly find yourself lost in the middle of nowhere. My preference for a desolate area is either outer space or a forested area where access is difficult.
I think in both cases escape is quite difficult, so I can enjoy the adventure and the fear of the unknown.
The adventure of Wrong Turn begins when Chris (played by Desmond Harrington) decides to take a shortcut to escape a traffic jam.
I must say that I liked the movie, even though I found it a classic, because of the fact that there are others who have the same idea and that the position of prey and predator is constantly shifting.
Both in terms of location and the way deformed people are incorporated into the story, the momentum of the story goes up. The fluency and the development of the characters do not fall below mediocre. In fact, the development of the characters from prey to predator proves what a person can become when the circumstances force them to do so.
While the story progresses as a mixture of a simple road adventure and a teen movie until we encounter the deformed groups of people living in the forest, the deformed group that suddenly appears and the way it kills the people it targets; creates a tense atmosphere and slowly imposes fear.
As the main character, Cris stands out as the one who starts and sort of ends the story. Desmond Harrington, who brings the character to life, does a good job in terms of both instilling fear and the development he shows. The actor contributes to the fluidity of the movie and keeps the adventure and excitement alive with the chase scenes.
But I must say that it is the mutant characters in the jungle that give the movie its real fear and tension. These physically deformed people are the main source of the fear created in the story and they take on the aspect of fear and tension.
From the beginning to the end, the movie manages to convey the tension and excitement to the audience. I think that especially the theme of misdirection is used quite successfully in this movie because the scenes of getting lost in the forest and encountering deformed people make the story quite realistic.
I can say that there are some gaps in the movie. Although an “auto scrap graveyard” was created from their vehicles in an area where hundreds of misguided people disappeared and the mutant characters live in a house on the side of the road, there is no satisfactory justification for their mystery for years...
...but I suggest that those who are thinking of watching the movie should keep themselves away from such questions because the positives of the movie far outweigh the negatives.
I recommend you to watch Wrong Turn with its tense atmosphere, impressive practical effects and gripping pace. It offers the viewing pleasure that can satisfy those who love the thriller and horror genre. With its classic theme, it also offers the chance to make comparisons between movies with similar themes.

El día de hoy, hablaré sobre una de mis sagas favoritas del cine de horror la cual, volví a ver hace poco para recordarla y también, vi el reboot que salió hace muy poquito generando en mí, un montón de sentimientos encontrados.
Para los que no conozcan esta saga horrífica y grotesca, la premisa es simple: Caníbales deformes la cual, nos dejó un personaje icónico: Tres dedos que debe su nombre, justamente a que tiene solo 3 de ellos pero con unas habilidades de cacería increíbles a pesar de su condición. Sin mencionar claro, que es un desquiciado sediento de sangre y carne humana en fin, hablaré un poco sobre el y como fué evolucionando o mejor dicho, involucionando una serie de películas y un personaje que, pasó de causar las peores pesadillas a causar risa ja,ja,ja.
Today, I will talk about one of my favorite horror movie sagas which I recently rewatched to remember it, and also watched the reboot that came out not long ago, generating in me a mix of conflicting feelings.
For those who are not familiar with this horrific and grotesque saga, the premise is simple: Deformed cannibals which gave us an iconic character: Three Finger who is named just that because he has only 3 fingers but with incredible hunting skills despite his condition. Not to mention, he is a bloodthirsty and human flesh-hungry maniac. I will talk a little about him and how he evolved or rather, devolved, throughout a series of films, going from causing the worst nightmares to causing laughter, ha ha ha.
Si bien, es de mis sagas favoritas, no es para nada original ya que siempre es el típico grupo adolescente que se pierde en el bosque y luego, son acechados por X personaje de terror, En este caso , Tres dedos y su séquito de deformes.
Fueron cambiando de director varias veces para ver si la saga era rescatada pero no hubo caso. Ya desde la primer película , tuvo pésimas críticas pero para mí, la primer película , es la única que vale la pena de la idea original. A partir de la segunda, con el primer cambio de dirección, comienza lentamente a perder su esencia y termina por convertirse en algo totalmente absurdo y sin sentido. Sin mencionar que cada entrega que sacaban parecía mas una película XXX que una de horror cosa que, en la primera y la séptima , eso no pasa y se enfocan mas en el horror mas que el s3x0.
While it is one of my favorite sagas, it is not at all original as it is always the typical teenage group that gets lost in the woods and then is stalked by X horror character. In this case, Three Finger and his deformed followers.
They changed directors several times to see if the saga was rescued but it was no use. Since the first movie, it received terrible reviews but for me, the first film is the only one worth it from the original idea. Starting from the second, with the first change of direction, it slowly begins to lose its essence and ends up becoming something completely absurd and nonsensical. Not to mention that each installment they released seemed more like a XXX movie than a horror one, which, in the first and the seventh, does not happen and they focus more on the horror rather than the s3x.
La primer película, era aterradora, desesperante y esos bichos que persiguen a los jóvenes daban miedo pero en serio. El gore, estaba, no era exagerado pero se veía bien y real. A partir de la 2, no solo sube el nivel de absurdo atribuyendo fuerzas extremas a los deformes sino que, también sube el nivel de gore por ende, se ve cada vez más falso . Sin mencionar, claro, que las tramas se vuelven cada vez mas paupérrimas.
Los personajes eran de pesadillas y luego se volvieron un chiste. Esto se nota mas a partir de la cuarta entrega donde ya pierden todo lo que los hacía unos personajes excelentes del horror sacados del infierno. Incluso, ya el maquillaje, se iba deteriorando mas y mas. No se si bajaron el presupuesto pero ya los efectos y todo, eran demasiado falsos. La sexta entrega quedó en total evidencia con esto ya que hasta parecían máscaras lo que tenían los personajes y no personas reales deformes.. Horrible sinceramente . En mi opinión, la sexta es la peor de todas . Los personajes, todo se fué por el tubo. Para ese tiempo volvieron a cambiar de director pero ya la saga estaba muerta y mataron a mi pobre 3 dedos definitivamente ¡Oh! que le hicieron a mi 3 dedos 😭
The first movie was terrifying, distressing, and those creatures chasing the young people were seriously scary. The gore was there, not exaggerated but looked good and real. From the 2nd one, not only does the level of absurdity increase by attributing extreme forces to the deformed, but also the level of gore increases, making it look more and more fake. Not to mention, of course, that the plots become increasingly poor.
The characters were nightmarish and then turned into a joke. This is more noticeable from the fourth installment where they lost everything that made them excellent horror characters pulled from Hell. Even the makeup was deteriorating more and more. I don't know if they cut the budget, but the effects and everything were too fake. The sixth installment made this totally evident as the characters looked like masks, not real deformed people... Truly horrible. In my opinion, the sixth is the worst of all. The characters, everything went downhill. By that time they changed the director again but the saga was already dead and they definitely killed my poor Three Finger. Oh! What have they done to my Three Finger 😭
El reboot, cambió todo por completo y los personajes de caníbales deformes, quedaron eliminados para dar lugar a otros personajes de horror que fueron bien armados y guionados. Me atrevo a decir que es mucho mejor que la original y, aunque mucho menos sangrienta, es mas aterradora.
La trama es aún mas profunda y mas original que su antepasado , mas oscura y siniestra. Si bien, parte de una base cliché termina por convertirse en una obra maestra del terror.
En conclusión, me quedo con la primera película de la saga original y con el reboot , las demás, nunca debieron existir y espero ya no hagan mas aunque si sale otra con 3 dedos, aunque sea mala, como soy masoquista, seguramente la veré solo por el ja,ja,ja (Te amo tres dedos❤️) ¡Saludos!
The reboot completely changed everything and the deformed cannibal characters were eliminated to make way for other well-crafted and scripted horror characters. I dare say it is much better than the original and, although much less bloody, it is more terrifying.
The plot is even deeper and more original than its predecessor, darker and more sinister. While it starts from a cliché base, it ends up becoming a horror masterpiece.
In conclusion, I stick with the first movie of the original franchise and the reboot; the rest should never have existed and I hope they don't make any more, although if another one comes out with Three Finger, even if it is bad, since I am a masochist, I will surely watch it just for the ha, ha, ha (I love you Three Finger ❤️). Hello horror lovers. Tonight I want to talk to you about a horror and gore movie that surely some of you will remember from those times. This is a film that was harshly criticized and forgotten to this day, despite having created an entire saga of films. But nowadays I remember it as one of the first films of this genre that I saw as a child (that's right, since I was a kid I was already watching horror movies) and how much it traumatized me since then. That is why in this new section I will talk about this film that, although it is not one of the best horror movies out there, it is one of those cult films that should never be forgotten. Directed by Rob Schmidt, the film was produced by Summit and Constantin Films and distributed by 20th Century Fox. The cast includes Desmond Harrington, Eliza Dushku, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jeremy Sisto and Kevin Zegers. A mixture of horror with gore and many scenes typical of this type of thrillers is what I invite you to remember with me on this first day of "Month of Horror".

Hola amantes del terror. Esta noche les quiero hablar de una película de terror y gore que seguramente alguno recordará de aquellos tiempos. Pero actualmente la recuerdo como una de las primeras películas de este género que veía de pequeño (así es, desde niño ya veía películas de terror) y lo mucho que me traumó desde aquel entonces. Es por eso que en esta nueva sección les hablaré de esta cinta que, si bien no es de las mejores películas de terror que existen, es una de esas obras de culto que jamás se deben de olvidar. The film introduces us to Chris Flynn, who is a medical student on his way in his car to an interview while driving through the mountains of West Virginia. In those mountains there have been multiple reported cases of missing explorers and mountaineers who have mysteriously disappeared. Chris sees that the main road has been clogged by an accident that caused the road to fill with chemicals, which would take them a few hours to clean up. However, seeing that he is running out of time for his interview, he changes his route and decides to go down a road with very little traffic and no pavement. During the change, he gets distracted and collides with a pickup truck that was stopped in the middle of the road because it had all its tires punctured by barbed wire. Chris does not receive much damage, but his car does, which will have no choice but to go on foot with those who were in the van. These are a group of five friends who were on a trip, these are called Jessie, Carly, Scott, Evan and Francine. They will now have to go in search of help or a way to take them to the city, but what they do not know is that they will find something very dangerous and horrifying in these woods.

La película nos presenta a Chris Flynn, quien es un estudiante de medicina que va de camino en su auto a una entrevista mientras atraviesa las montañas de Virginia Occidental. En esas montañas se han estado reportando múltiples casos de desapariciones de exploradores y montañistas que han desaparecido de forma misteriosa. Chris ve que la vía principal ha sido obstruida por un accidente que ocasionó que la carretera se llenase de químicos, lo cual les demoraría unas horas en limpiar. Sin embargo, al ver que anda sin tiempo para su entrevista, cambia de ruta y decide ir por un camino muy poco transitado y sin pavimento. En el cambio, se distrae y choca con una camioneta que estaba en medio de la carretera detenida ya que tenía todos los cauchos pinchados por alambres de púas. Chris no recibe mucho daño, pero su auto sí, lo cual no tendrá otra opción que ir a pie con los que estaban en la camioneta Estos son un grupo de cinco amigos que estaban de viaje, estos se llaman Jessie, Carly, Scott, Evan y Francine. Estos ahora tendrán que ir en busca de ayuda o de un camino que los lleve a la ciudad, pero lo que no saben es que encontrarán algo muy peligroso y horrendo entre estos bosques.

Yes, I know it's a bad horror movie. There are those who still criticize it saying it's one of the worst Slashers out there. But despite all that, it's hard for me to remember another horror movie I've seen as many times as I've seen this one. It may not have some of the best stories or characters to be found in this vast world of horror cinema, but at least it has a level of gore in many scenes, along with a very dark tone and completely grotesque scenes. The film itself may remind you a lot of unforgettable classics like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", mostly because of the story and the characters we see on the other side of this whole series of gruesome murders. Maybe because of the nostalgia of having seen this movie a long time ago and remembering it now as what I thought it was back then makes me overrate this film more than I should. But the truth is that I am not the only one who admits that this horror work has marked a whole generation, at least with its predictable plot and horrific characters and scenes.

Si, sé que es una mala película de terror. Hay quienes aún la critican diciendo que es de los peores Slashers que existen. Pero a pesar de todo eso, me es difícil recordar otra película de terror que haya visto tantas veces como he visto esta. Puede que no tenga de las mejores historias o los mejores personajes que se puedan encontrar en este extenso mundo del cine de terror, pero al menos tiene un nivel de gore en muchas escenas, amén de un tono muy oscuro y escenas completamente grotescas. Puede que la película en sí te recuerde mucho a clásicos inolvidables como “La Masacre de Texas”, más que todo por la historia y los personajes que vemos al otro lado de toda esta serie de asesinatos horrendos. Puede que por la nostalgia de haber visto esta película desde hace mucho y recordarla ahora como lo que pensaba que era en aquel entonces me haga sobrevalorar esta cinta más de lo debido. Pero la verdad es que no soy el único que admite que esta obra de horror ha marcado a toda una generación, al menos con su trama tan predecible y sus personajes y escenas tan horrendas.
Let's talk about several details in this movie, such as the story, which revolves in a place curiously known in the United States, mostly because of this kind of things. It is not known if this movie is based on a true story, but the way it is told, along with the details of this horrendous family of deformed cannibals, makes me think that they must have taken their inspiration from somewhere. The theme of a group of kids lost in a forest with three human hunters prowling around, along with traps and places that look like cemeteries may sound very familiar, especially if we have seen many horror movies of this style. On the side of the characters, while they get to download one or two at most, they end up being overshadowed by the same horrific plot that has. So as far as getting to know the characters better or paying attention to the characters or the story itself is something that isn't really worth doing in this film. The beginning may be a bit slow, it may even feel as predictable and absurd at certain points in the film, but in the end it ends up being just another horror and gore flick that makes you feel like you're watching a blood and gore fest.

Hablemos de varios detalles poco destacables en esta película, como por ejemplo la historia, la cual gira en un sitio curiosamente conocido de Estados Unidos, más que todo por este tipo de cosas. No se sabe si esta película está basada en alguna historia real, pero la forma en la que nos la cuentan, junto con los detalles de esta horrenda familia de deformes caníbales, me hace pensar que de algún lugar se habrán inspirado. El tema del grupo de chicos perdidos en un bosque con tres cazadores de humanos merodeando junto con trampas y lugares que parecen cementerios nos puede sonar muy familiar, más si hemos visto muchas películas de terror de este estilo. Por el lado de los personajes, si bien llegan a descargar uno o dos como mucho, estos terminan siendo opacados por la misma trama horrenda que tiene. Así que en cuanto a conocer mejor o prestar atención a los personajes o la historia en sí es algo que no vale mucho la pena hacer en esta película. Puede que el inicio sea un poco lento, incluso puede que en ciertos momentos de la película se sienta tan predecible como absurdo, pero al final termina siendo una película más de terror y gore de esas que te hacen sentir como si estuvieras viendo un festival de matanza y sangre nomás.
On the technical side, not that it has any special effects to mention, being mostly what you see practical effects and a lot of makeup. The deformed style of the antagonists stands out quite a bit, although they are not given much focus for much of the film. The dark and grotesque tones the film has, the play of simple cameras with moving shots in the background makes it somewhat monotonous, but nothing relevant. The sound effects are well added, especially in the scenes of deaths, cuts, gunshots and explosions. The film's soundtrack is one of those typical 70s horror classics that conveys very well the level of suspense and horror that each scene has. The final part of the film is somewhat predictable, with a conclusion that leaves you thinking at the time in a closing, but ends up being an opening of an entire saga of films in this franchise that I do not recommend you see, the truth. There is nothing more to say about this movie, since it is only what I mentioned at the beginning: a horror story with a lot of blood and a lot of deaths. So don't expect me to recommend it either, I'm just leaving it here in case some nostalgic like me remembers having seen or heard of it before. If that's not the case, then I'll leave it up to you.
Personally, I give it a 7/10 rating as far as the horror genre is concerned.

En cuanto a lo técnico, no es que tenga algún efecto especial que mencionar, siendo en su mayoría lo que se ve efectos prácticos y mucho maquillaje. El estilo deforme de los antagonistas resalta bastante, aunque no le dan mucho enfoque a los mismos durante gran parte de la película. Los tonos oscuros y grotescos que tiene la película, el juego de cámaras sencillas con planos en movimiento en segundo plano lo hace un tanto monótono, pero nada relevante. Los efectos de sonido están bien agregados, sobre todo en las escenas de muertes, cortes, disparos y explosiones. La banda sonora de la película es de esas típicas de terror clásico de los 70s que nos transmite muy bien el nivel de suspenso y horror que tiene cada escena. La parte final de la película es un tanto predecible, con una conclusión que te deja pensando en el momento en un cierre, pero que termina siendo una apertura de una saga entera de películas de esta franquicia que no les recomiendo ver, la verdad. No hay más nada que decir de esta película, ya que es únicamente lo que les mencioné al principio: una historia de terror con mucha sangre y muchas muertes. Así que tampoco esperen que vaya a recomendarla, solo lo dejo por aquí por si algún nostálgico como yo recuerda haberla visto o escuchado antes. Si no es el caso, entonces lo dejo a tu decisión.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 7/10 en lo que respecta al género del terror.

The story
The film revolves around a group of friends who are chased and attacked in the forests by a group of indigenous people who practice primitive methods of survival The story talks about how they face these obstacles and try to survive and escape.
The film is characterized by providing an atmosphere of constant tension and excitement as the viewer finds himself tense at every moment as events escalate and diversify and the images in the film present beautiful and frightening landscapes at the same time which increases the realism of the events and enhances the horror effect.
The cast also does an excellent job of embodying their characters making the characters more relatable and making the events more impactful to the viewers.
The film suffers from a lack of originality in the story as it follows many traditional horror templates without offering anything new or innovative and becomes merely a narration of a set of familiar situations in horror films which makes the story predictable in developments and reduces the power of its impact.
But not enough emphasis is placed on developing the heroes personalities which reduces the impact of emotional connections and attachment to the characters.
In short Wrong Turn is a horror film that offers a suspenseful and exciting experience but it suffers from a formulaic story and a lack of personal development for the characters.

La original era muy sanguinaria, con muertes muy desagradables y retorcidas, por lo que aquí optaron en hacer algo menos gráfico para intentar llegar a un mayor grupo de espectadores, consiguiendo una película muy oscura y con matices muy diferentes, mejores en unos aspectos y peores en algunos otros.

During about an hour of the film, you will not be able to close your eyes and you will watch the film with enthusiasm, but after that events begin to fluctuate little by little.

After more than an hour of continuous fun, the film entered into a different dialogue that made us move to a semi-dramatic movie.
The dialogues in the film were not as strong as we were waiting for, as most of the film is screaming and incomprehensible.
Although the filming in the movie was special in many scenes, the camera transmission was very bad, as if the cameraman was forgetting a lot.

The movie is not so bad that the critics criticize it in this way.
If there are some negatives, but let us be some relativism and fairness, the movie did not have great actors or a huge budget, so its coming out in this way is logical and good for them.
Wrong Turn is a recent remake of a movie with the same name that was released more than 15 years ago. I don't remember ever watching the original so I am unable to compare the 2. I will just judge this one on its own merits without taking into account anything from the original film.
The story is about a group of friends who are planning to go on a hike in what appears to be a remote small town. From the first moment, they arrive at the town it is clear the local people are kind of different. Maybe they aren't used to see tourists but there is clearly something off about this place.
The friends decide to begin their hike and soon enough the tragedy will begin. The mountains aren't a friendly place in this town and they quickly become victims with no idea what is actually happening around them. Everything begins with a massive wood log going downhill in their direction. This is almost impossible to happen by chance so it was probably someone on top that thrown them this huge log.
After the tragedy begins, things will quickly escalate. There are deadly traps everywhere you look, and scary silhouettes moving through the forest. These guys pretty much sealed their fate once they entered the mountain. What's good about this movie is that it just doesn't only show what happened to them, it goes deep in exploring the cult that lives in this land.
The cult has its own rules and traditions, they are extremely violent, ruthless, and cruel people. This movie showed a type of lifelong torture implemented by the cult that I don't remember watching in any other film. It wasn't really shocking but it was original. The weakest part of the film is related to the writing of the friends. They sometimes make decisions that aren't well-thought but if you watch horror movies you probably are used to this.
I enjoyed the idea behind this cult, the story provides enough information regarding why they adopted their lifestyle and it is actually not a far-fetched idea. It could happen in real life I guess. I would recommend this movie if you are looking for a story where the main characters are hunted down with almost no way to escape. In my opinion, it was entertaining enough to deserve a watch.
The best
The cult was very creepy.
The worst
The generic acting from the group of friends.
The ending was anti-climatic, especially because the cult's members are supposed to be well prepared and always on alert.
I did not go into this movie expecting much. And I got what I expected. A generic monster/slasher movie. It was alright. But it makes me think of similar movies that were done so much better like The Hills Have Eyes. That movie had tension and great effects. This movie though, is just mediocre. It is a wonder it spawned 5 SEQUELS, yep count em’ 5.
