Today I want to tell you about this movie that is everywhere, and every time I open Netflix it's everywhere, I almost eat it on my cereal. so i decided to watch it

You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah is the title of this film where I was able to recognize the actor Adam Sandler in the first instance, although he is not the center of attention. His whole family is, it is a film produced by Netflix and Adam Sandler where the protagonists are his family, that would be nice to introduce everyone to the artistic world, but we are not here to talk about that.

Hoy quiero comentarles acerca de esta película que está por todos lados, y cada vez que abro Netflix está por todos lados, casi me la como en el cereal. Así que decidí verla

You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah es el título de esta película donde en primera instancia pude reconocer al actor Adam Sandler, aunque él no es el centro de atención. Toda su familia lo es, es una película producida por Netflix y Adam Sandler donde los protagonistas son su familia, eso estaría bien para adentrar a todos en el mundo artistico, pero no estamos aquí para hablar sobre eso.

I thought it would be a comedy where Adam's participation was a lot but really all the leading role is for his young daughter who plays Stacy, a young woman who wants to have an epic and unforgettable mega bat mitzvah party but nothing in the movies happens as we expect, It is not a straight line, it is a roller coaster to entertain the viewer.

Pensé que sería una comedia donde estuviera mucho la participación de Adam pero realmente todo papel protagonico es para su hija pequeña quien interpreta a Stacy, una joven que desea tener una mega fiesta épica e inolvidable de bat mitzvá pero nada en las películas sucede como esperamos, no es una línea recta, es una montaña rusa para entretener al espectador.

In general, I like the typical American comedies, and it's something that you almost know the script by heart, you know the twists it will have, you know almost everything. It's like going to your safe place because you already know everything that's going to happen and that calms you down a bit, they're like those kinds of movies to watch after crying over something not so bad that happened to you. In this case it's about the typical American family with their American problems where everything ends well in the end, they spend a lot of money and with each person in their stereotype. We know that these kinds of movies are like that, they follow the same pattern and I'm not saying it's bad, it's probably part of their culture (I don't know, I'm not American)

The focus of this film is on Stacy and in her great moment of making that transition from girl to woman that she so desires, this happens when she celebrates her own bat mitzvah so it is quite exciting for young people. As mentioned in the film, in many parts of the world they have this tradition of celebrating this transition in young people, for example in Latin America we celebrate the quinceañera for women, we have a party when they turn 15.

Por lo general a mi me gustan las típicas comedias americanas, y es algo que ya te sabemos casi que el guión de memoria, sabes los giros que tendrá, te sabes casi todo. Es como ir a tu lugar seguro porque ya sabes todo lo que va a suceder y eso te tranquiliza un poco, son como esa clase películas para ver después de llorar por algo no tan malo que te haya pasado. En este caso es sobre la típica familia Americana con sus problemas americanos donde todo al final termina bien, gastan un montón de dinero y con cada persona en su estereotipo. Nosotros sabemos que este tipo de películas son así, siguen el mismo patrón y no digo que sea malo, probablemente es parte de su cultura (No lo sé, no soy norte americana)

El foco de esta película es acerca de Stacy y en su gran momento de hacer esa transición de niña a mujer que tanto desea, esto sucede cuando se celebra su bat mitzvá por ello es bastante emocionante para los jovenes. Tal cual como lo mencionan en la película en muchas partes del mundo tienen esta tradición de celebrar esa transición en los jovenes, por ejemplo en America Latina celebramos la quinceañera en las mujeres, hacemos una fiesta al cumplir 15 años.

However, here we are going to follow in the footsteps of Stacy as a young girl who goes to school and has a best friend, a normal life as a young woman. Lydia has been her best friend since they were very young, so they do everything together and they both want the perfect bat mitzvah, but as the movie progresses, things get complicated for the young girls. Lydia seems to have snatched Stacy's dreams so she is angry and they end up separating, things start to go wrong for the friends to the point of involving their much desired bat mitzvah

Sin embargo aquí vamos a seguir las pasos de Stacy como una jovencita que va al colegio y que tiene una mejor amiga, una vida normal de joven. Lydia es su mejor amiga desde muy pequeñas por lo que todo lo hacen juntas y ambas desean el bat mitzvá perfecto, pero a medida de que avanza la película las cosas se complican para las jovencitas. Lydia parece haberle arrebatado los sueños de Stacy por lo que esta se enfada y terminan por separarse, las cosas empiezan a ir mal para las amigas al punto de involucrar a sus tanto deseado bat mitzvá.

I am not a film critic, nor do I pretend to be, I only give options for entertainment and also on many occasions I make personal comments. I say this because it seems to me that there are a lot of negative comments about the film, most of them are from adults... I would like to remember that this is a youth film, it's okay to want to entertain us as adults but we must not forget the focus. It is not a movie for your entertainment as an adult, it is a comedy for teenagers, those little people from school, from high school. I understand that everything is very stereotyped and repetitive, but that is the purpose for young people, that in the end they understand something about values and that if they know that they are going to ruin something, like a relationship with family or friendship, actions bring consequences.

These kind of movies are my safe place and they remind me of my teenage self, I don't expect them to be extraordinary I just hope to see some of what I was used to but maybe with other actors to refresh my eyes, inside I will always be a girl and this type of movies will seem somewhat nostalgic to me.

Yo no soy una critica del cine, ni pretendo serlo, solo doy opciones para el entretenimiento y además también en muchas ocasiones hago comentarios personales. Lo digo porque me parece que hay bastante comentarios negativos acerca de la película, la mayoría son de adultos... Me gustaría recordar que esta es una película juvenil, está bien querer entretenernos como adultos pero no hay que olvidarse del foco. No es una película para tu entretenimiento como persona adulta, es una comedia para adolescentes, esas personitas del colegio, de la secundaria. Entiendo que todo sea muy estereotipado y repetitivo, pero esa es la finalidad para los jovenes, que al final entiendan algo acerca de los valores y que si saben que van a arruinar algo, como una relación con la familia o la amistad, las acciones traen consecuencias.

Este tipo de películas son mi lugar seguro y me recuerdan a mi yo adolescente, no espero que sean extraordinarias solo espero ver algo de lo que estaba acostumbrada pero quizá con otros actores para refrescar mis ojos, en mi interior siempre seré una niña y este tipo de películas me parecerán algo nostálgico.

The "coming of age story" are one of the most recurring formulas that we have seen in the cinema, works where we observe a group of characters (or a specific character) for a series of specific events that force them to growing up, simultaneously reflecting on what it means to be a child and when we really begin to have contact with adulthood.

Although the definition is very vague and we could frame in it practically any film that has a young protagonist, I like those cases that approach the subject in a very literal way. Projects like Bo Burnham's Eight Grade and Greg Mottola's Superbad are just two excellent examples of the concept's capabilities, using comedy and drama to create universal stories we can connect with either because we're living what they portray, or because at some point we live it.

I like "You Are So Not Invited to my Bat Mitzvah" because it strikes a perfect balance between the universality and relatability that I just told you about, even though it builds on an experience that corresponds to a minority; the Jews.

How do they get this? Deeply respecting the nature of their rites and customs, but looking for a way to present it to others in a way that we can understand everything they represent.

Starring Sunny Sandler (Si, daughter of Adam Sandler, who also has a supporting role in the film) who plays Stace Friedman and her best friend Lydia (Played by Samantha Lorraine), "You are so not invited to my Bat Mitzvah" focuses on the entire process of preparing these girls to celebrate their bat mitzvah, a traditional Jewish rite where boys and girls become adults and God welcomes them into his kingdom.

Understandably, a celebration of this magnitude puts a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Stacy and Lydia, who, in the midst of the usual problems of 13-year-old girls, begin to feel that their old friendship is destabilizing.

Although this is a film that lacks very complex narrative pretensions and regularly lapses into the predictable, it stands out when it comes to representing on screen everything that the adolescent experience entails, a time when any small problem seems to be the end of the world. and we find ourselves constantly questioning our own honesty.

Despite its simplicity, "You Are Not So Invited to My Bat Mitzvah" is a fun and emotional film, with an agile direction and many moments that will genuinely make you laugh, all thanks to the sincerity with which its lead girls are portrayed.

I have seen many complaints regarding the nepotism that has surrounded this film, something difficult to ignore considering the presence of almost the entire Sandler family nucleus fulfilling a leading or supporting role, however, it is not only great that Adam uses his production company to give a platform to a film as refreshing as it is, but apart from that, it is undeniable that despite Sunny Sandler's lack of experience (and her older sister, who also appears) they have the potential to provide us with a good quality film, at least compared to other modern comedies of the same style.

Hard to get angry with a movie like this, suitable for the whole family, entertaining and with a solid message.

Las "coming of age story" son una de las fórmulas más recurrentes que hemos visto en el cine desde siempre, obras en dónde observamos a un grupo de personajes (O un personaje en específico) para por una serie de eventos específicos que los fuerzan a crecer, reflexionando simultáneamente sobre aquello que significa ser niño y cuando empezamos a tener contacto con la adultez realmente.

Aunque la definición es muy vaga y podríamos enmarcar en ella prácticamente cualquier filme que cuente con un joven de protagonista, me gustan aquellos casos que abordan el tema de forma muy literal. Proyectos como Eight Grade de Bo Burnham y Superbad de Greg Mottola son solo dos ejemplos excelentes de las capacidades del concepto, utilizando la comedia y el drama para crear historias universales con las que podemos conectar ya sea porque estamos viviendo lo que ellas retratan, o porque en algún momento lo vivimos.

Me gusta "You Are So Not Invited to my Bat Mitzvah" porque logra un balance perfecto entre la universalidad y la relatabilidad de la que les acabo de hablar, aunque se construya sobre una experiencia que corresponde a una minoría; los judíos.

¿Cómo consiguen esto? Respetando profundamente la naturaleza de sus ritos y costumbres, pero buscando la forma de presentarla a los demás en una manera en la que podemos comprender todo lo que representan.

Protagonizada por Sunny Sandler (Si, hija de Adam Sandler, quien también tiene un rol secundario en la película) quien interpreta a Stace Friedman y su mejor amiga Lydia (Interpretada por Samantha Lorraine), "You are so not invited to my Bat Mitzvah" se enfoca en todo el proceso de preparación que tienen estás chicas para celebrar su bat mitzvah, un rito tradicional judío en dónde los niños y niñas se convierten en adultos y Dios les da la bienvenida bienvenida a su reino.

Lógicamente, una celebración de esta magnitud pone mucha presión sobre los hombros de Stacy y Lydia, quienes en medio de los problemas usuales de unas chicas de 13 años empiezan a sentir que su antigua amistad se desestabiliza.

Si bien esta es una película que carece de pretensiones narrativas muy complejas y cae regularmente en lo predecible, se destaca cuando se trata de representar en pantalla todo lo que implica la experiencia adolescente, una época en dónde cualquier problema pequeño parece ser el fin del mundo y nos encontramos cuestionando constantemente nuestra propia honestidad.

Pese a su simpleza, "You Are not so invited to my Bat Mitzvah" es una película divertida y emotiva, con una dirección ágil y muchos momentos que te harán reír genuinamente, todo esto gracias a la sinceridad con la que sus chicas protagonistas están plasmadas.

He visto muchas quejas con respecto al nepotismo que ha rodeado está película, algo difícil de ignorar considerando la presencia de casi todo el núcleo familiar de Sandler cumpliendo con un rol principal o secundario, no obstante, no solo me parece genial que Adam utilice su productora para darle plataforma a una película tan refrescante como está, sino que aparte, es innegable que a pesar de la falta de experiencia de Sunny Sandler (Y su hermana mayor, que también aparece) tienen potencial para brindarnos un filme de buena calidad, al menos en comparación que otras comedias modernas del mismo estilo.

Difícil enojarse con una película como está, apta para toda la familia, entretenida y con un mensaje sólido.

A lot of nepotism, or is it something well done? Stick around until the end and I'll tell you how it goes.

¿Mucho nepotismo o si es algo bien hecho? Quédense hasta al final y les diré que tal.

Greetings to all my dear hivers and cinephiles of this community. Last night I was zapping through the streaming platforms and I came across a title that didn't hook me at first, but I saw two names: Adam Sandler and Idina Menzel, so, since I didn't feel like watching anything else, I gave it a play.

Saludos a todos mis queridos hivers y cinéfilos de esta comunidad. Anoche estaba haciendo zapping por las plataformas de streaming y me conseguí con un título que al principio no me enganchó, pero ví dos nombres: Adam Sandler e Idina Menzel, así que, como no tenía ánimos de ver más nada, le di play.

To my complete surprise, Adam Sandler was not the main character in this movie, neither was Idina Menzel. The main character is Stacey Friedman, a girl about to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah (Jewish celebration signifying the entrance into adulthood). Stacey and her best friend, Lydia, have been dreaming of celebrating this big event (for Latinas, it's like celebrating their 15th birthday) since they were little girls. One day, this dream collapses because Lydia and Stacey get into a fight because of a boy (obviously). We should keep in mind that this celebration is done when they are around 13 years old, so they are young enough to understand a lot of things. However, any teenager knows that there are boundaries that can't be crossed, like being with the love of your best friend's life.

Para mi total sorpresa, Adam Sandler no era el protagonista de esta película, Idina Menzel tampoco. El personaje principal es Stacey Friedman, una chica a punto de celebrar su Bat Mitzvah (celebración judía que significa la entrada a la adultez). Stacey y su mejor amiga, Lydia, sueñan desde niñas con celebrar este gran evento (para las latinas es como celebrar los 15 años). Un día, este sueño se derrumba porque Lydia y Stacey se pelean por culpa de un chico (obviamente). Debemos tener en cuenta que esta celebración se hace cuando tienen alrededor de los 13 años, así que son bastante jóvenes como para comprender muchas cosas. Sin embargo, cualquier adolescente sabe que hay límites que no se pueden cruzar, como estar con el amor de la vida de tu mejor amiga.

The movie is not deep, you won't have any great learnings beyond that girlfriends should be forever. However, this movie turned out to be pretty funny. I did throw in a couple of loud guffaws because it's a Sandler movie, there's bound to be some laughs. And there were several funny scenes here.

One of the things I like most about watching teen movies is seeing new faces, some of those talents we might be seeing in the future in different productions. One of the faces that caught my attention were Stacey and Lydia. Undoubtedly, we will be seeing both of them. Lydia, played by Samantha Lorraine, has already been in a few minor productions.

La película no es profunda, no tendrán grandes aprendizajes más allá de que las amigas deben ser por siempre. Sin embargo, esta película resultó ser bastante divertida. Me lancé un par de fuertes carcajadas porque es una película de Sandler, alguna risa tendrá que haber. Y aquí hubo varias escenas divertidas.

Una de las cosas que más me gusta de ver películas juveniles es ver caras nuevas, alguno de esos talentos los podríamos estar viendo en el futuro en diferentes producciones. Unas de las caras que más me llamó la atención fueron la de Stacey y la de Lydia. Indudablemente, las estaremos viendo a ambas. Lydia, interpretada por Samantha Lorraine, ya ha participado en algunas producciones menores.

But the real revelation was the actress who played Stacey, who is none other than Sunny Sandler, yep, Adam Sandler's daughter, and the reason he didn't overshadow in the movie was because he wanted his daughters to shine. Yes, his daughter Sadie also participated, she was Ronnie in the movie, and she was also his daughter in the movie. Although it was a supporting role, she has a rather biting humor that really caught my attention. But it doesn't end there, his wife Jackie also participated in the movie, she played Gabi, Lydia's mother.

Yes, total nepotism. But the whole production was with Happy Madison, Adam's company, so basically he could decide who was going to act, and if he wanted to put his whole family in the movie, no one can say no to him. And really his daughters are quite talented.

Pero la verdadera revelación fue la de la actriz que interpretó a Stacey, que es nada más y nada menos que Sunny Sandler, sip, la hija de Adam Sandler, y la razón por la que él no opacó en la película fue porque quería que sus hijas brillarán. Sí, su hija Sadie también participó, fue Ronnie en la película y también fue su hija en la misma. Aunque fue un papel secundario, tiene un humor bastante mordaz que me llamó mucho la atención. Pero la cosa no acaba allí, su esposa Jackie también participó en la película, interpretó a Gabi, la madre de Lydia.

Sí, nepotismo total. Pero toda la producción fue con Happy Madison, la empresa de Adam, así que básicamente él podía decidir quién iba a actuar, y si quería poner a toda su familia en la película, nadie puede decirle que no. Y realmente sus hijas tienen bastante talento.

As for the movie, it's one of those perfect movies to watch on a Sunday afternoon with your family. It's a pretty sweet movie. I was pleasantly surprised. So I recommend it. Just don't expect too much from it.

En cuanto a la película, es de esas películas perfectas para ver un domingo en la tarde acompañada con tu familia. Es una película bastante dulce. Me sorprendió gratamente. Así que la recomiendo. Eso sí no esperen demasiado de ella.
