  2. (ENG/SPA) Yu Yu Hakusho of Netflix, Live Action Review@promete0sz458d

    94m8s4w2Ay6W0Bvn5fkE9fOmPg0.jpg

Yu Yu Hakusho the Live Action version of Netflix is a series inspired by the manga and anime of the same name that tries to bring to flesh and blood performances a narrative complicated to transfer by the large number of visual elements that are required to manifest the large number of powers, transformations and all the graphic Lore of this story.

I think it manages to establish an acceptable representation of this world or narrative universe of Yu Yu Hakusho that uses the Yokai concept and associates to develop its plot. If I consider and I regret that the fandom is so punishing with this type of products, I mean the Live Action, in my case I am impressed with several things I see which are positive and crush the amount of negative things that if there are but I can tell you that I felt as a viewer part of the world of Yu Yu Hakusho.

I can advance that my assessment is positive, beyond the aberrant aspects that are seen in this series haha, my greatest appreciation is that I enjoyed this series of 5 episodes on Netflix.

One of the characters that when I saw the anime two decades ago I found very funny was Koenma that you can see in the gif uses something in his mouth that is very funny, I imagine the actor doing this job and laughing internally all the time because he has to have that in his mouth haha, seeing it in anime softens the image in the mind but seeing it in a real person impacts a lot.

The point I want to emphasize with this is that I see a work of direction, casting and costumes to highlight, to bring totally illogical characters to a representation as real as possible is not easy, there is a fine line between ridiculous and impressive. In this case I am fascinated and happy with what I see, I use Koenma as an example to say that visually I saw this Live Action very acceptable in several characters including the main characters.

I dare to fully defend this Live Action work because I know that the fandom is very toxic around this visual representation but I am impressed with the detail of costumes, in the thumbnail you can focus on the clothes of the characters and you will notice that they are loose which fits perfectly with the visual of the anime that was absurdly wide clothes.

I notice the defense to the visual structure of the anime but it must also be said that many anime actually have a visual not nice, what happens is that nostalgia and seeing things at such a young age makes our minds only stay with the great but not necessarily what we see in many anime is beautiful, I mention this because the fandom often sin in asking for impossible, I think you have to enjoy life haha and this product your costume work is very well done.

    9UZwmD248h5yuhbAn6a6Kc2b1CF.jpg

Now let's start with the debate about the narrative presented that adapts to a wide arc of the anime, I think it was established in a horrible way at the beginning because there is a totally unnecessary tertiary character that takes too many minutes of the series and it is also visually awful, the acting is the worst I've seen and unfortunately that start can overshadow the good development of the rest of the characters.

From my point of view all the main characters are excellent and the villains too, it is a pity that the tertiary character who is there to help the viewer to understand the Yokai plot is so grotesque that it took me out of the story, I was very happy when the series left that character that does not matter and focused on those who do matter to us. I encourage you to watch because you may like everything, I hope so because what I can tell you is that I liked practically all the actors in the representation of all this group of characters in heroes and villains that as the plot progresses, it manages to consolidate.

The eternal detail of the Live Action for this type of stories will always be the CGI, the transfer of anime to CGI is a suffering and this product does not escape to that, there are things to highlight that I will name later but Toguro that you can see in the image goes from Great to be abominable in a negative way because of the CGI aspect.

I think we are getting closer and closer to see fantastic stories made Live Action that do not generate visual repulsion but at the moment there is still present the terrible visual impact in the representation of CGI, the question is if we need to improve and maybe the answer is yes, I think there is present the effort to improve these technologies in constant optimization but there is still the shock of images in our brains when it fails to execute well.

In the youtube video I share with you what for me was the best battle, if you have not seen this series, you can encourage you to see a little of that battle especially if you got to see the anime in its time.

My thinking is that the execution of the vital battles has a lot of power, good acting and as a fandom I think you should evaluate things objectively and not destructively, Asians have a physical structure that may clash with ours, the above also applies to customs like when the protagonists do their poses anime style, but that should not be a reason to say that something is bad, actually there the conflict would be cultural and that's another thing.

As I mentioned, the battles left me with a feeling of wanting to see them again, an example of that is the battle I mentioned, Kurama VS Karasu, it was one of the best fights in this series and for me there was good graphic and acting neatness by both actors, both the hero who has never been one of my favorite or striking characters in this story but he fights very well haha and his counterpart, the villain Karasu spectacular, he really looks scary with that mask.

One or another exaggerated moment in the acting of these characters in the battle, that definitely has to improve Asia because they are the ones who make these exaggerated performances by nature, if I think that should be dosed so that the product is more homogeneous to the international audience.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

  3. Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files 「幽☆遊☆白書」 (1992, 25 episodes)@onlyjob494d

Grotesque family-friendly comedy about school boy who fights bullies and monsters from spiritual realm daily. School boys fight all the time with bullies and each other, taking great pride in doing so. That is presented as comedy and it somehow works and helps not to take lighthearted story too seriously.

The story begins with protagonist dying in traffic accident, but he is given a chance to live if he can complete a quest. He succeeds in returning to his own body but gains ability to see ghosts so he is quickly recruited as "spirit detective". After that he is constantly fighting something with assistance of his real and supernatural friends who know no fear and never run away from danger.

Average but fun show, despite being pointless and badly disconnected from reality. There is nothing serious in the show which is as entertaining as chewing gum but with fun animation style. Nobody is victim and I guess the moral of the show (if any) can be summarised as "It's OK to fight back bullies. Courage is fun. Bruises are fine. Friends are worth fighting for."

  4. Yusuke's Rebirth? | Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action@adalathu914d

    1.jpg

When Netflix announces the live action adaptation of an anime, the whole otaku community trembles. As well-received as the One Piece adaptation was, we still can't forget the disaster that was the pseudo-adaptation of Death Note, not to mention Cowboy Bebop. So when I saw the announcement of the live action of Yu Yu Hakusho, I honestly didn't know what to expect. Many aspects of the previews seemed questionable to me; however, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and ended up with mixed feelings about the series, although I don't regret watching it.

    3.jpg

Yu Yu Hakusho tells the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenager of dubious reputation who dies while saving a child. After his demise, he is granted the opportunity to return to life as a spirit detective, one charged with maintaining the balance between the human and spirit worlds. This job leads him to confront supernatural creatures to protect the Earth, while discovering new friendships and developing powers that will be useful in his work.

This adaptation consists of five episodes, each lasting approximately 48 minutes, and is "loosely" based on the first arcs of the series, leading up to the final confrontation with the Toguro brothers. Overall, my impression was positive; it's an entertaining series that tries to cover the most important points of those arcs from the original anime/manga. However, I feel that the production made a rather questionable decision in trying to condense so much story into just five episodes. This caused everything to feel too rushed, with significant omissions in the story, and a strange mix of all the events of the tournament in which the Toguro brothers are pitted against each other.

    4.jpg

    What I liked

Without a doubt, my favorite aspect of this adaptation was the fights. I'm not sure if it was because my expectations were low, but I honestly found them to be quite good. They were eye-catching, exciting and well choreographed, some parts even seemed like an homage to classic martial arts movies. I was surprised to see the true form of Kurama and the special powers of each main character so quickly. However, considering the part of the story it covers, I'm glad they didn't leave these elements out because of budget issues. Definitely, the fights were the aspect I enjoyed most about the adaptation, even the ones with less transcendental characters, such as the first ones Yusuke faces, I found interesting.

    5.jpg

Another aspect that pleased me were the characters. While there were some questionable choices, for the most part I felt they were well portrayed. The limitations I observed were probably due to the small budget of the series. There was a clear attempt to maintain the essence of the characters in both the characterization and the acting of the cast, and while this was not fully achieved for everyone, for the most part I think they delivered. I want to make a special mention at this point for Genkai, who simply fascinated me, although I would have liked to see more screen time.

One detail I loved that they included was the brief appearance of a fragment of the opening of the anime series as part of the music that a secondary character listened to on a radio. It was a nod to all the fans of the classic series that reminded me how great that song is.

    ![7.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/adalathu/23wM2f2mGPx81vjJM9eBuzXgWWfNzmVBMWxGxe6hMEML73Si84yab5JqCssi8jWC5vo1P.jpg)

    What I didn't like

The worst thing for me was definitely the attempt to condense so many episodes into less than 5 hours. As I mentioned, there was a lot left untold and too many fights to show. All this meant that the characters had little development and the camaraderie between the main characters was not properly established. The tournament where they face the Toguro brothers changed completely and, although the fights against the Toguro team were shown, everything was left there, which is a pity because there were many more interesting things besides what was already mentioned.

    6.jpg

I could also mention the lack of quality in some costumes or wigs (Shuichi's, please), but I think that was simply lack of budget. I even think that the very reduced amount of episodes was due to the same thing, which is a real shame, because the intentions to make a product that would please the fans and honor the anime were present; there just wasn't enough budget to bring all the ideas to fruition.

Despite its shortcomings, I found the series entertaining. I can't claim that it lived up to all my expectations, but I consider it an adequate introduction to the world of Yu Yu Hakusho, especially for those who haven't seen the original series. For those of us who watched it as kids, it's simply a rather enjoyable nostalgia trip. So, whatever your case, it's worth giving this live action a chance.

¿El Renacer de Yusuke? | Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action

    2.jpg

    ![4.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/adalathu/23uQ5aoEb7vCveJTWB9T1nDNgsfjirTn8XsxpkHzPGamRXzfkQ7jHJzUhWwzrjV8LZpKd.jpg)

    ![7.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/adalathu/23wM2f2mGPx81vjJM9eBuzXgWWfNzmVBMWxGxe6hMEML73Si84yab5JqCssi8jWC5vo1P.jpg)

  5. Yoshihiro Togashi: Yu Yu Hakusho on Netflix and HxH Ending Revealed@filotasriza3960d

    image.png

If you like Anime or Manga and not living under a rock then you must already know who Yoshihiro Togashi is. In case you don't know and not have guessed through the title, Togashi is well known Japanese manga artist. His most well known manga are Level E, Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter. Just a fun fact, his wife is the creator of the legendary Sailor Moon!

Now, i believe that Togashi became well-known worldwide with Yu Yu Hakusho which is a Shonen Manga of 175 chapters. The manga was serialized between 1990 to 1994 and it's about a delinquent who died in a car accident while trying to save a young boy. The son of the underworld's King tells Yusuke that nobody expected his death and thus there is no position for him in Paradise or Hell. They make a deal to pass some tests and return to his body.

Ofc the turn of events makes everything a bit more difficult and complicated and many different stories unfold between different realms and you can expect a lot of fighting as well. This isn't a review of the anime though thus i will it to myself for another time. Now after Yu Yu Hakusho another manga and anime came out which is called Hunter X Hunter.

It aired from 1999 to 2001 with 62 episodes and again aired from October 2011 to September 2014 and is still considered one of the best manga/anime and adaptations of all time. If you ask me it's my favorite anime ever but again this is a story for another anime. Let's focus on the titles for now.

In my opinion, in terms of movies, anime and shows we live in a great era. Even though, these past years we see a lot of bad movies and series coming out the anime industry has never let us down. Instead, more and more people started watching anime and even the movie/series industry has realized it.

That ofc means that we get to see a lot of our favorite manga becoming anime or even live-action. The most notable example is One-Piece which in my opinion is one of the best live-actions that we had the opportunity to see. Now the next one is Yu Yu Hakusho by Netflix again and will be aired in less than a month on December 14/11/2023. Below you can see the trailer as well

Even though i am not a big fan of live actions i am quite curious to see how they will manage to do the whole demon stuff as well as how they will highlight the powers. Judging from the trailer, ofc some actors don't resemble the manga/anime characters but i saw some awesome aesthetics and sceneries so i will definitely give it a chance. Also, it's a great opportunity for Togashi to see that there is some fanbase out there waiting for him to CONTINUE HUNTER X HUNTER!

Now let's talk bout the ending of Hunter X Hunter. Both the manga and the anime are amazing and i don't think there is someone that can say the opposite. The problem with Togashi and Hunter though, is the continued Hiatus. A lot have criticized him as instead of having health issues many believe that he is simply bored.

Anyway, he had an interview today on TV's Asahi's Iwakura and Yoshizumi Show where he actually revealed an ending in case he dies before completing his masterpiece. In fact he has 4 different endings but only the last one revealed which is as mentioned in case something's bad happens to him. Below you can see exactly what he said:

    image.png

Basically, if you read it, it's like a happy ending which mostly nobody will like as we expect more but at the same time it's like an okish ending. The good thing that came out of the Netflix live-action is that possibly Togashi will be more serious about focusing on HxH!

    What are your thoughts?

  6. Anime Game Mini Review / Yu Yu Hakusho Makyō Tōitsusen@edens2070d

Yu Yu Hakusho is an anime/manga of the classics and served as inspiration for another of the most emblematic mangas of Shonen Jump: Bleach, since these two mangas base their plot on a spiritual world, and although many people criticized Bleach at first because of the great similarities it had with Yu Yu Hakusho, over time Bleach took its own path and formed a very cool manga (until its decline). Yu Yu Hakusho was created by Yoshihiro Togashi, the same creator of the manga Hunter X Hunter, another excellent one and one of the best manga of all times, but unfortunately it is currently on hiatus. It has been many times that Hunter X Hunter has entered Hiatus and it is a pity because the history of this manga is so long and has so many things to show for it that it is sad that it is not continued.

But today I will not talk about Hunter X Hunter, I will do that in a post dedicated to that wonderful manga, today I will talk about a fighting video game based on the manga Yu Yu Hakusho, unfortunately this new one never left Japan, so it doesn't have an English translation, the game is only in Japanese, but being a fighting game, that is not so important, although there is a version that was released in Brazil, whose name is Yu Yu Hakusho: Sunset Fighters, that translates the whole game to that language, so at least, this way you can understand a little more the options and menus of the game.

I discovered this game, Yu Yu Hakusho: Makyō Tōitsusen, when one day I downloaded a Mega Drive game pack and inside the folder was, although it was the Japanese version, even so, being a fighting game, in which the story is not so important, because also, due to the few scenes that the game has, it has little relationship with the manga/anime.

I spent a few hours playing and it's really quite fun to play with some of your favorite manga characters, the game was able to recreate the characters very well with respect to their anime counterparts, as well as their moves and powers. There are several characters to choose from, including the main characters and some secondary characters that were an important part of the main story of the manga.

The game has several game modes, the classic story mode in which we will choose a character of our preference and we will make him fight with certain characters and as we advance we will be shown a story according to the character we have chosen. It also has a mode in which we will fight a "all against all", being able to fight on screen with a maximum of 4 characters. The classic cooperative mode, in which the AI of the game or a friend will be our fighting partner. As well as the practice mode to, logically, practice the skills and combos of the characters and the classic 1vs1 mode. It's a pretty fun game, it looks pretty good by today's standards and a game that is part of one of the best manga/anime of its kind.
