Selling two million copies from the pre-order period through its July 9th launch is a massive achievement for a franchise that seemed to have run out of steam. Thanks to this remake, it feels alive again.

This number is definitely a huge success and shows just how much the community adores Edward Kenway's story. Personally, this is the game I enjoyed the most in the entire series, and I think it was a brilliant choice to select it for a remake. This could be the start of something big, especially since AC Shadows only managed to sell five millions copies, well below the ten million achieved by Odyssey and Valhalla.

It might feel a bit early to say it, but we could be looking at the best pirate game of all time. I might not be the most objective person to say this, given how much I love this game, but everyone who's played it since launch is giving it an average score of over eight out of ten. Sure, it has its bugs; that's pretty standard for Ubisoft at this point, but the community doesn't seem to mind. The positives have definitely outweighed the negatives.

It's been a strong statement, a solid bet in a year packed with huge triple-A releases. Ubisoft just needed to dig up this treasure to get back in the game.
