An afternoon of picnics, mate, and family 🧺💚

One of our favorite things to do when we want to have fun as a family is to go on a picnic—and if it’s at Los Novios Park in Bogotá, even better. 🌿🧺

When my family came to visit, we organized an afternoon picnic. We prepared a delicious snack with fruit, jams, Nutella, cookies, and a few other treats to share. And while we enjoyed the food and conversation, the kids made the most of the park, running, playing, and enjoying that space designed just for them.

Uno de nuestros planes favoritos cuando queremos disfrutar en familia es hacer un picnic, y si es en el Parque Los Novios, en Bogotá, mucho mejor. 🌿🧺

Cuando mi familia estuvo de visita, organizamos una tarde de picnic. Preparamos una merienda deliciosa con frutas, mermeladas, Nutella, galletas y algunas otras cositas para compartir. Y mientras nosotros disfrutábamos de la comida y de la conversación, los niños aprovecharon al máximo la zona del parque, corriendo, jugando y disfrutando de ese espacio pensado para ellos.

But our picnic had a special touch: an afternoon of mate. My son-in-law had brought some back from his last trip to Argentina, and we decided to take the opportunity to try it together. It was quite an experience to discover that ritual—so different and, at the same time, so similar to those peaceful moments we enjoy over a cup of tea.

Pero nuestro picnic tuvo un ingrediente especial: una tarde de mate. Mi yerno había traído algunos de su último viaje a Argentina y decidimos aprovechar la ocasión para probarlos juntos. Fue toda una experiencia descubrir ese ritual, tan diferente y, al mismo tiempo, tan parecido a esos momentos tranquilos que disfrutamos alrededor de una taza de té.

I have to admit that I absolutely loved mate. I found it to be a more fulfilling experience than the tea ritual, which I also enjoy immensely. Perhaps it’s because there’s something very special about sharing it, chatting, and passing the bombilla from hand to hand.

And so, amid games, flavors, laughter, fruit, cookies, and mate, we wrapped up our Saturday afternoon plans: a picnic full of little moments that will stay with us forever. 💚

Tengo que confesar que el mate me encantó. Me pareció una experiencia superior al ritual del té, que también disfruto muchísimo. Quizás porque tiene algo muy especial eso de compartirlo, conversar y pasar la bombilla de mano en mano.

Y así, entre juegos, sabores, risas, frutas, galletas y mate, completamos nuestro plan de sábado en la tarde: un picnic lleno de pequeñas experiencias que se quedan en la memoria. 💚
