**Greetings, fellow travelers and nature lovers; I hope you all have a wonderful start to the week. Today, I’m sharing a tour of the La Gloria area in the Benítez municipality of Sucre state, along with glimpses of the Sacamanteca Lagoon. This stretch of the state is characterized by beautiful mountains, lush vegetation, and dramatic cliffs—or farallones. Nestled at the foot of these cliffs and surrounded by mountains lies the lagoon, which serves as both a reservoir and a recreational hub, offering activities such as boating and fishing.
This area is located along the Carúpano-Güiria national highway; it is flanked by vegetation on both sides, and mountains are visible in several places. From the moment we left Carúpano, I could see the coastal scenery, and as we advanced toward the El Rincón area, the terrain shifted to include mountains and surrounding greenery. Since it was early morning, the sunlight hit at a low angle, revealing incredible mountain views framed by abundant vegetation. Upon reaching the lookout point, there is a path where you can move around to admire the stunning views of the lagoon; the landscape is truly enchanting and perfect for those who love outdoor activities and connecting with nature.

**Saludos amigos viajeros y amantes de la naturaleza, deseo que tengan un excelente y feliz inicio de semana, en esta ocasión les comparto un recorrido por el sector La Gloria en el municipio Benítez del estado Sucre y vistas parciales de la laguna Sacamanteca, este tramo del estado se caracteriza por hermosas montañas, abundante vegetación, los llamados "farrallones" o precipicios, en la parte baja de estos y rodeada por la montaña se ubica la laguna que funciona como una represa y centro recerativo, cuenta con áreas para paseo en bote, pesca, entre otras.
Este sector se ubica en la carretera nacional Carúpano Güiria, a ambos lados está rodeadoa de vegetación y en varias zonas se observa la montaña, desde que salimos de Carúpano pude observar el paisaje costero y a medida que avanzábamos y nos acercábamos al sector El Rincón el relieve varía, con la presencia de la montaña y la vegetación circundante, como era temprano en la mañana se aprecian algunos rayos del sol con poca incidencia, e increíbles vistas de la montaña acompañda generalmente por mucha vegetación; al llegar al mirador hay una franja o camino por donde te puedes movilizar para observar y apreciar las increíbles vistas de la laguna, este paisaje es realmente encantador y perfecto para quienes aman las actividades al aire libre en contacto con la naturaleza.
Near the lookout point, there is a dirt path perfect for hiking or simply observing the incredible surroundings of this ecosystem. After traveling a few kilometers, we arrived at the municipality of Benítez; a police checkpoint is located at the entrance, and just a few meters away stands the lookout point. It features railings and a cross—earning it the name "Mirador de la Cruz de la Gloria" (Lookout of the Cross of Glory)—along with palm trees and large trees that adorn the area.
From here, you can take in incredible views of the lagoon and the beautiful surrounding landscape. After walking around the lookout and admiring the lagoon and its environs, we moved toward an area right next to the large tree, which offers the best views of the lagoon and the scenery; I took the opportunity to snap several photos and enjoy the morning breeze.
Cerca del mirador, hay un sendero de tierra ideal para hacer caminatas o sencillamente observar el increíble entorno de este ecosistema, luego recorrer varios kilómetros llegamos al municipio Benítez, en la entrada se ubica un puesto policial y a pocos metros de este, el mirador el cual cuenta con barandas, una cruz debido a esto se le conoce como el Mirador de la Cruz de la Gloria, palmeras y grandes árboles que adornan este espacio.
Desde aquí puedes observar las increíbles vistas de la laguna y el hermoso paisaje alrededor, luego de caminar por el mirador observar la laguna y el entorno avanzamos hacia el área muy cerca del árbol grande, donde se aprecian las mejores vistas de la laguna y el hermoso paisaje, aproveché para tomar varias fotos y disfrutar la brisa matutina.
The views of the lagoon are incredible; it looks like a mountain oasis, surrounded by vegetation and situated in the lowlands. In the next photo, we see part of the lagoon, the grassy vegetation near the road, and the mountain encircling the water. Moving a bit closer to the rock formation reveals a wider view of the beautiful surrounding landscape. According to local residents, this area is very popular during holiday seasons, attracting many families who bring their children for outdoor activities.
Near the lagoon, there is a camp offering various activities—especially during holidays—designed to help both adults and children make the most of their stay while learning about the dam facilities and the importance of environmental conservation. It is a form of ecotourism where children learn to value the environment. Next, we have a partial view of the mountain, showing the lagoon in the background and the lush vegetation lining the road; with the recent onset of the rainy season, the greenery has become vibrant and striking. Finally, moving a little closer, we can clearly see the lagoon, the grassy areas, and the surrounding trees. I really enjoyed the journey through these beautiful landscapes and the natural setting; for those who love nature adventures—exploring, hiking, and taking in scenic views—this lookout point and the Sacamanteca Lagoon offer the perfect spot to relax and admire the wonders of Creation.
Las vistas de la laguna son increíbles, parece un oasis en la montaña, rodeado de vegetación y ubicado en la parte baja, en la siguiente fotografía vemos parte de la laguna, la vegetación gramínea cerca de la carretera y la montaña rodeando este cuerpo de agua, acercándonos un poco hacia la roca se ve más amplia y el hermoso paisaje alrededor; según la información de unos residentes esta zona es muy concurrida en temporada de vacaciones, por muchas familias familia que llevan a sus niños para que realicen actividades al aire libre.
Cerca de la laguna se encuentra un campamento que ofrece diferentes actividades especialmente en los asuetos, para que grandes y chicos disfruten su estadía al máximo, conozcan las instalaciones de la represa y la importancia de conservar y cuidar el ambiente, es una especie de ecoturismo, donde los niños aprenden a valorar el ambiente; luego tenemos una vista parcial de la montaña, se observa la laguna al fondo y la abundante vegetación que se encuentra en todo el trayecto de la carretera, como ya iniciaron las lluvias esta se incrementa y adquiere un hermoso color verde que la hace muy llamativa, finalizando nos acercamos un poco más y se aprecia la laguna, parte de la vegetación gramínea y los árboles ubicados alrededor esta zona, me gustó mucho el recorrido por los hermosos paisajes y el entorno natural, para las personas que aman las aventuras en la naturaleza, explorar hacer senderismo y disfrutar hermosos paisajes, este mirador y la laguna Sacamanteca son el espacio ideal para relajarse y admirar las maravillas de la Creación.
