IS IT CAKE? - Todays Daily Painting is of a little duckkie
You know the TV show "Is it Cake?" SUCH a cool show... lol... well this duck reminds me of something that they made on the show, i think it would make a very good cake. Ha ha...
Today was a fairly relaxed day. My husband is in NZ attending some conference or another and i really only had some housework a few chores, a few other things and ballet and school runs to attend to. I even did "freezer bag" dinners...
what THIS means is i pulled out 3 bags of left overs from the freezer (chili con carne and butter chicken) heated them up cooked some fresh rice, chopped some raw veges and told the kids to go help them selves. :-)
I like cooking and i like cooking fancy meals. but i couldnt be bothered. And i even left the dishes such as they were. Now it is the following morning and i am severly REGRETTING that decision but here we are.
Today's Painting is of a little plastic duck.
Today's painting.... Ground: Canvas Panel Paint: acrylic Colours: ultramarine, white, umber, yellow ochre, cad yellow medium, orange, red (a warmer one) dioxazine. Time: a hour.
Paint colours
background is ultramarine and a tiny bit of yellow ochre, and white.
foreground is actually a mix from yesterday... could be anything.. lol
the duck... well.. so i regretted not doing a sienna underpainting. I REALLY SHOULD Have done one for this painting. to warm up the canvas. however the blue background was on before i remembered. so i didn't. i then decided to try the purple under yellow trick to neutralise the yellow. and boy did it do that... however i think it made the whole thing to cold. to green yellow instead of the warmer tones in the duck. mistake.
so i had to do a couple of layers of the yellow and warm it up again. however i think it still gave the duck some depth AND i LOVE THE picture of it with the purple shadows put in.. i think that looks really cool
they eyes are not black and all and are ultramarine and dioxazine purple. there is no black in this one at all.
the lips are just whatever mix was on the palette actaully
shadows under the duck are ultrmarine and burnt umber i do believe. trying to get the blue in.
I certainly think its ok for a quick painting.... IS IT CAKE?
lol
The little mini painting
Often when i do a painting i do a matching mini painting. so i use the left over colour on the canvas to put on a smaller canvas in line blobs. you can see quite a few of these around the studio. they are all so different as its the left over paint mixes from the painting i did.
I look at them and can remember WHAT the painting i did actually was :-)
anyway i had better run... its saturday... that means its a dancing day... its ALWAYS a dance day.
see you next painting
HERE ARE SOME OF MY RECENT DAILY PAINTINGS
