TODAY I DID A QUICK DAILY PAINTING IN THE BUSY DAY

PINTEREST POSTS SQUARE BLUE - For posting (2).png

Around the grounds today....

So today HAS been a busy day. Lots to do... Started with an early wake up alarm as my husband was off to the airport to attend a conference across the ditch in NZ. So making sure he made it out the door with his passport was a high priority.

Then kid wrangling before school. The big one had a Science test today... and seeing as she is sitting on a A- so was desperate to keep the A status and i was drilling her on cell biology which she really does know well. However, like me she has an attention span of a gnatt, and doesn't answer long form answers well, so im hoping it was more multi-choice.. lol

The usual cleaning, and emailling was done... however anything important in true style was put off because, like yesterday its over due and late, so doing it now would be bad. i need to wait till its REALLY overdue and people start asking me ... lol...

Gym and so on and school runs.

Today's Painting is

Today's painting.... A small pair of strawberries Ground: Canvas Panel Paint: acrylic Colours: usual suspects Time: slightly longer than i intended so it was about 1.5 hours.

underpainting:

even though this was a super fast little daily painting i DID do an **underpainting **as i wanted the warm underneath. it was quite rough, but actually i wasn't that unhappy with it. Just the usual burnt sienna and white.

background is a cool grey, black with dioxazine and ultramarine and white. the TINIEST bit of yellow ochre. basically enough to make it not look black. I LOVE making backgrounds this colour. its a regualar of mine.

Forground was white, yellow ochre. a tiny bit of a brighter yellow in the very front. and a mix of the background colour in the shadows and a tiny bit of the strawberry red in the reflections.

nothing too fancy.... its a quick painting.

Strawberries. Here i did a dioxazine and blue shadow layer to add some depth and then blended in some deeper red, then a brighter red. a little yellow. minimal at best white to avoid turning it either orange or pink

then a lighter red splotches, a smig of the blue purple for the seeds (NOT BLACK) and then some light yellow and light pink for the highlights. a little rough, but again, i don't have 4 hours to make photo realism work here.

THEN the leaves... i was loosing patience and you can tell.. i blobbed on the greens and said "meh" i want chocolate and a cup of tea... so im done

Damn it looks so scrumptious! I love the colors. :D

I also love how you explain the color use in your posts. The NOT BLACK especially hahaha cos I would often forget how it affects the colors. Then once I tried ultramarine and raw sienna, I was just so surprised how ALIVE the black was compared to ivory or mars black. :D
