Holy cow, I feel like I have missed so much... I went camping this past weekend and I didn't really get a chance to watch any of the Little League World Series games. I was talking to my wife the other night and she mentioned that her mom was going out of town, so her dad was going to be home alone all weekend. I asked what he planned on doing with the house all to himself. She said he was going to be sitting in his chair watching the Little League World Series all weekend.
Sounds pretty perfect to me!
It sounds like there were some weather delays over the weekend, but I think now we are back on track. The truth is, I am going to be catching up with all of this just as much as you are when I give you these scores. I think we left off with game four when I last talked to you, so let's pick up with game 5 to begin this week.
Game five was between Australia and Mexico. Mexico won that game 7 to 1 to send Australia down to the losers portion of the bracket. Game six happened over on the other side of the bracket and it was Mountain handing Great Lakes their first loss of the tournament 6 to 5. Game seven saw Curacao shutting out Japan 6 to 0 and sending the team from Tokyo I think down to the losers portion of the bracket. Finally, to finish the day on Friday we had the Midwest taking down the West 1 to 0.
As I said before, 8 games had to take place on Friday because I think they got rained out on Thursday.
Game 9 was between Latin America and Panama. The Latin American Team beat Panama 6 to 4 to continue on the winners bracket. Meanwhile, in game 10 we had the Northwest taken down the Southwest 4 to 3.
Game 11 saw Asia-Pacific shut out the Europe-Africa team 5 to 0, and game 12 gave us Metro beating Mid-Atlantic 3 to 1.
With all of those "first round games" in the books, we started things on Saturday with elimination games down in the losers portion of the bracket. Game 13 saw Canada shutting out Australia and sending them back down under. Gamve 14 had the Great Lakes Region shutting out the New England area with a massive 10 to 0 showing.
Game 15 sent another international team packing with Japan hammering the Caribbean 10 to 1, and finally, Game 16 saw the Southeast sending the West home 12 to 2.
All of that lined things up for more winners bracket games on Sunday.
In game 17, The Mountain Region beat the Northwest in a 5 to 0 shut out. Game 18 gave us an 8 to 4 victory by Latin America over Mexico. Which is pretty impressive because Mexico led much of that game I think. Game 19 saw the Midwest shut out Metro 6 to 0, and game 20 gave us Curacao taking down Asia-Pacific 1 to 0.
That lines us up for another set of elimination games today when Panama takes on Canada, Japan faces Europe-Africa, Southeast vs. Mid-Atlantic, and Great Lakes against the Southwest.
