Dobra pogoda w połączeniu z wolnym popołudniem to doskonała okazja, żeby trochę pokręcić na rowerze. Przed wyjściem długo zastanawiałem się, który sprzęt wybrać. Z racji tego, że ostatnio kilka razy z rzędu stawiałem na szosówkę, tym razem padło na rower górski. W pierwotnym planie chciałem wystartować w okolicach Mont Panisel, by później pokręcić się po Hyon i Spiennes. Jadąc w tamtym kierunku, natknąłem się jednak na roboty drogowe i zamknięty odcinek. Musiałem na bieżąco zmodyfikować trasę, dzięki czemu trafiłem najpierw do Cuesmes, a stamtąd do Ghlin.

[ENG] Great weather coupled with a free afternoon provided the perfect excuse to spin the pedals for a bit. Before heading out, I spent some time debating which bike to pick. Since I’d favored my road bike several rides in a row recently, the mountain bike got the nod this time around. My original plan was to head toward Mont Panisel and then explore the rolling areas around Hyon and Spiennes. En route, however, I ran into roadworks and a full road closure, forcing me to reroute on the fly. That detour took me straight through Cuesmes and on toward Ghlin.

Pokręciłem się trochę po terenach przygotowanych pod rozbudowę strefy przemysłowej. Działki uzbrojono ponad dekadę temu – powstały tam wtedy asfaltowe drogi i wydzielone drogi rowerowe, choć te ostatnie zdążyły już mocno zarosnąć chaszczami. Przed laty regularnie widywałem w tym miejscu kampery romskiego taboru, lecz ostatnio koczowali raczej w okolicach Grand-Large. Przejeżdżając tędy wczoraj, szybko zrozumiałem przyczynę tej przeprowadzki: wszystkie drogi dojazdowe zablokowano masywnymi betonowymi barierami. Rowerem da się między nimi bez trudu przecisnąć, ale żadne auto już tamtędy nie przejedzie.

[ENG] I spent some time cruising around the plots prepped years ago for industrial zone expansion. The infrastructure was laid down over a decade ago with asphalt roads and dedicated bike paths, though the latter have become heavily overgrown over time. Years back, I often spotted caravans from a Romani camp parked there, though recently they’ve been pitching up near Grand-Large. Riding through yesterday, the reason for the move became immediately obvious: all access roads have been blocked off with heavy concrete barricades. You can easily squeeze through on a bike, but nothing on four wheels is getting past.

W drogę powrotną do Mons ruszyłem od strony Ghlin – wzdłuż kanału i wokół Grand-Large. Po drodze mijałem wielu biegaczy korzystających z rześkiego wieczoru na trening. Mnie ten głód biegania dopadnie dzisiaj: planuję wyjść potruchtać i przy okazji przetestować na trasie nowe buty.

[ENG] My return leg into Mons took me from Ghlin along the canal and around the Grand-Large basin, where I passed a steady stream of runners out for an evening jog. Today, it’s my turn to lace up—I'm planning an easy run to break in a brand-new pair of running shoes.
