[ENG] Yesterday, I took my new running shoes—the Asics Gel-Kayano 31—out for a spin. You could call it a straightforward model upgrade since I used to run in the Kayano 27, but truth be told, I was never fully satisfied with that older pair due to poor heel lock. That issue prompted me to stray from Asics after years of brand loyalty and switch to the New Balance 880. They served me really well (and remain in my rotation), but high mileage eventually took its toll, and the cushioning is nowhere near as plush as it used to be.

[ENG] That kicked off my search for a replacement. For a while, I seriously considered the Hoka Gaviota 6. They felt great on foot; the aggressive rocker geometry felt slightly unusual at first, but I was confident I’d get used to it. The dealbreaker, however, was the colorway. Past experience has taught me that running in light-colored shoes through autumn and winter is an absolute disaster, and there were no darker alternatives in stock.

Wróciłem więc do punktu wyjścia.

[ENG] So my search led me right back to Asics. Because I need dedicated overpronation support, high-stability options are fairly limited: essentially Kayano or bust. I weighed my options between the 31 and 32, steering clear of the latest model 33 which hovers around the €200 mark. As a recreational runner, a discounted previous iteration at half that price fits the bill perfectly, making the Kayano 31 the obvious winner.

Sam bieg?

[ENG] As for the maiden voyage: new shoes always need a break-in period to mold to your foot, so the initial run can sometimes feel a bit awkward. This one, however, felt remarkably comfortable right out of the box. Most importantly, the heel lockdown was rock-solid. A smooth, thoroughly satisfying evening run!
