I have to say that my first bike never actually existed; the closest thing I ever had was an adorable red tricycle, which is where I first started to get the hang of riding on two wheels. But just because I didn’t have a bike doesn’t mean I didn’t learn how to ride one. Early in my childhood, I grew up in a small town where the most common way to get around was by biking from one place to another; but, since all good things come to an end, I moved to the city, and as a city girl, it was hard for me to have a bike—especially given where I lived back then...
But guess what? During my vacations, I’d visit that beautiful town where everything moved at a leisurely pace and time seemed to stand still. It was at my grandmother’s house—where she sold candy and soft drinks—that many familiar faces would stop by to have coffee with her, and many of them arrived on their bikes. For them, it was perfectly normal to arrive and park their two-wheeled vehicles; so, eager to learn, while they enjoyed their coffee and chatted with my grandmother, I’d ask to borrow their bikes.
That’s how I learned to ride bikes—even ones that were too big for my size—but I have to say I got some pretty nasty scrapes, and once I even fell into a ditch; I came out covered in dirt and had to put up with my friends’ teasing, but I didn’t give up until I learned. After that, even though I didn’t have a bike of my own, I did have plenty of friends who’d lend me a bike so I could ride around “tagging along” all over town. Those were wonderful days, and, as they say, that’s how it is—I know that if I get on a bike, I’ll be able to ride it, because once you’ve learned, you never forget how to ride a bike.
Thank you, friends, for reminding me of that wonderful time in my life through 4 November 2026, Freewriters Community Daily Writing Prompt Day 3277: my first bicycle Greetings, friends!

Day 3277: my first bicycle saludos amigos!
