Greetings to everyone in the community. Today I’m joining in here to share a new chapter in my life with you. This time, I’m sharing a happy moment: today I got to see my friend Christy again, whom I hadn’t seen in about four years. We studied together in college, and that’s where our friendship began. I think we went through a lot back then, and later our paths diverged due to life’s twists and turns, but I’ve decided I don’t want to miss any more opportunities to see my friends—people I care about—and I believe it’s important to make an effort to be there for them. So today we met at the Valencia Museum, also known as the Ateneo de Valencia, to see the Botero exhibition. Let me tell you a little about it.
We share a common passion: the arts. Christy is an artist—she draws and paints beautifully—and she’s also a goldsmith, so her artistic side has always stood out. I like to paint, and I also love music… and we love going to museums! Hahaha, that love started thanks to one of our college classes where we had to explore the historical sites in our region, and we visited so many places in Carabobo. That sparked a passion that, well, is still going strong. So we both wanted to go there. The downside was that there was no electricity at the museum, so we could only access the first room. We only saw Botero’s sculptures, but we didn’t let that get us down—that same day, we headed downtown and went sightseeing.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en mi vida. En esta ocasión les traigo un grato momento y es que hoy pude ver nuevamente a mi amiga Christy, a quién tenía alrededor de unos 4 años sin ver. Nosotras estudiamos juntas en la universidad y de allí se formó la amistad. Creo que pasamos muchas cosas por esos tiempos y luego los caminos se separaron por cuestiones propias de la vida, pero he decidido que ya no quiero perder más oportunidades de ver a mis amigos, a quienes quiero y creo que es importante hacer acto de presencia. Así que hoy nos vimos en el Museo de Valencia, también conocido cómo Ateneo de Valencia, para ver la exposición de Botero. Aquí les cuento un poco.
Nosotras tenemos un amor en común: las artes. Christy es artista, ella dibuja y pinta muy bonito, también es orfebre así que siempre dió a destacar su lado más artístico. A mí me gusta pintar, también la música y... ¡Nos gusta ir a los museos! Jajaja ese amor quedó gracias a una de nuestras materias de la universidad dónde debíamos conocer los lugares históricos de nuestra región y fuimos a visitar muchísimos lugares de Carabobo. Eso creo una tendencia que bueno, sigue estando presente. Así que las dos queríamos ir allí. Lo malo del asunto es que no había electricidad en el museo y solo pudimos acceder a la primera sala. Solo vimos esculturas de Botero, pero no nos desanimamos pues ese mismo día agarramos al centro y fuimos a hacer turismo. Eso lo dejaré para otra publicación, pues es bastante.
I feel very lucky to have the chance to reconnect with friends again, because, let’s be honest, we know that sometimes things can change so much that those bonds are completely lost—but when I saw Christy, I felt that our mutual affection was just the same. We’ve both changed, and that’s a good thing. I had a great time today, and I encourage others to do the same: seek out your loved ones, get together, talk, laugh, and don’t let those bonds fade away. By the way, I’d never seen a Botero in person before, and it has its own charm; I can appreciate his approach to working with volume. Me siento muy afortunada de tener la oportunidad de nuevamente reencontrarme con amigos, pues siendo honestos, sabemos que a veces las cosas pueden cambiar tanto que los lazos se pierden por completo, pero cuando ví a Christy sentí que el cariño mutuo era el mismo. Ambas hemos cambiado y eso es bueno. Hoy la pasé muy bien y aliento a otros a hacer lo mismo: busquen a sus seres queridos, reunanse, hablen, rían y no dejen perder esos vínculos. Por cierto, nunca había visto un Botero en persona y tiene su encanto, puedo apreciar la idea de él de buscar trabajar con el volumen.
