New life walk on Ku-ring Gai Track : September 9 2026

Just had to get out the house - getting frustrated - too many things not working right and not in a place to do much about it. Got on a train to walk Ku-ring Gai Track. A walk in three parts - part one is walking along the burned section to see what emerges after a burn

One bearded orchid on track edge - budding

Leaf and spike - calochilus orchid

Got the eye out for flashes of blue - dampiera purpurea

New life in the burned section

Top of tree is showing no signs of life

Reddish new life - eucalyptus

More new life

And more. Onto next part of the walk - path drops down the ridge line - fire did not come down this way

Drumsticks flower - lots of them

Maybe a white flower day

Huge corridor of white

Close up - it is a leptospermum but not the one I know. Petals are narrower with bigger gaps between

Good light for wool spider grevillea - looks white - other name is grey spider grevillea

Lomandra season is on us - chose to walk all the way to the water views

Not an orchid walk down here - too much sheoak. One segment has acianthus orchid leaves

One seeded - guessing acianthus pusillis

Walked side track to views over Cowan Creek northwards

View over the creek to the East

To the south

Over the edge view of two sets of rock orchids - cestichis reflexa the furthest away

Dockrillia linguiformi closer in and behind

Lyrebird art form

Ant action on this spring opener

Mushroom action - bright grabs the light

Violet for my granddaughter Violette

Walked another side track to a big open platform - view of the creek to the south

This would have been a gathering place with flst rocks, clear sky and creek views

Turning into a budding orchid day - first bonnet orchid budding

Interesting mushroom form

Starburst flower opening up

Hibbertia time

Sydney boronia

Ever wondered what happens to a drumsticks flower - they dry out to a husk and then burst in a fluff ball

Wedge pea flower

The leptospermum I know - squarrosum - square

Stopped to pick up some plastic. The brush turkey was following. He scored two blackberries that were with the rubbish

One more budding bonnet orchid

New flower form

Did find budding sun orchid. Flowers below were open- not warm enough for the tops to open

One flying duck orchid found - not well formed and a first find on this track

Matching leaf

One more budding bearded orchid

Slender rice flower

Corner house on the edge of the park has sold

Walked down to Aldi down the road to check on a product for my wife. Sold out

Big walk and one sore knee - too much

Pizza for dinner

Before looking at your profile, I was wondering how you manage to take such great SPRING photos at the beginning of Autumn? When I did, it all made sense... 😃 Just by viewing them, I miss spring, the long forest walks, and it reminds me of my Actifit walks a few years ago, with my mobile phone in my hand... Taking photos of the tiniest flowers... 📷

    Thanks for sharing!
