With joy and a glad heart, I’m taking you through the process of creating this beautiful dress. 🧵💃 From the first stitch to the final finishing, every step is done with love, passion, and creativity. ❤️ Come along and enjoy the process with me! 🥰✨

CUTTING AND SEWING GUIDE FOR THE BLUE TOP AND PRINTED SKIRT

TOP CUTTING Your measurements are: shoulder 18 inches, bust 42 inches, waist 38 inches, waist length 17 inches, top length 25 inches, sleeve length 22 inches, and sleeve rounds 14, 13, and 10 inches.

Fold the blue fabric with right sides together and prepare front and back bodice pieces. For the bust, divide 42 by 4 = 10½ inches. Add about 1½ inches ease, giving 12 inches from the folded center, then add seam allowance. For the waist, divide 38 by 4 = 9½ inches and add about 1 inch ease before seam allowance.

Mark 17 inches for the waistline and 25 inches for the finished top length. Mark the 18-inch shoulder across the pattern. Shape the side seam from bust to waist and continue toward the hem.

For the shaped lower panel for the front from middle point I go up from the blouse length by 6 inches then connect to make a curve to the other side and The neckline facing for the back and front overlap is also cut carefully to ensure a clean finishing.

SLEEVE CUTTING Use the 18-inch sleeve length. Use the 14-inch upper-arm round plus about 1 inch ease. Use 13 inches at the middle and 12 inches at the lower sleeve. add seam allowance, cut two sleeves, and mark notches.

TOP SEWING Sew the front and back shoulder seams first. Finish the neckline with its facing, then understitch and press it. Close each sleeve along its underarm seam. Match sleeve notches to the armhole and sew the sleeves into the bodice. Next, sew the side seams continuously from the sleeve opening through the waist and down to the hem. Finish raw edges with an neat turned seam. Press the seams after every major operation.

Attach a fabric rise at the upper chest area.

SKIRT CUTTING Your skirt waist is 42 inches and finished length is 30 inches. You have 1½ trouser yards of fabric. I'm working with the fabric length of 60 I cut it into two to be able to get the full gathered skirt.

So use the fabric width to create as much fullness as possible. For a very full appearance, approximately twice the waist measurement is suitable: 42 × 2½ = 105 total skirt circumference. If your fabric allows more, inches than mine it will gives greater fullness.

SKIRT SEWING Join the skirt panels with straight seams and finish the raw edges. At the top edge, sew two rows of long gathering stitches. Pull the bobbin threads evenly until the skirt opening measures approximately 42 inches. Spread the gathers evenly around the entire waist.

For your 3-inch finished waistband, cut a strip about 4 inches wide, allowing for seam allowances, and approximately 43 inches long for a 42-inch waist. Join the short ends, fold the band lengthwise, and press. Attach the waistband to the gathered skirt, matching the center front and back. Stitch the waistband securely and finish the inside edge neatly.

Finally, press the complete outfit carefully. This method will give you the fitted blue top and full, gathered.
