The photo was taken in a small lake in Svenstrup, Denmark. The lake had lots of ducks, a few swans and this colorful bird. I don't know the name of it, but I do believe it is some kind of a duck.     A mystery bird with that much color at Svenstrup lake deserves an identification hunt, since ducks in breeding plumage can fool even the regulars.

    If that is a mandarin duck, the coloring fits perfectly, and that little Danish lake sounds like a great spot to find one.
