Hello, dear Ladies of Hive! I hope you're all doing great. This week, we have questions from @chacald.dcymt for the community contest, with interesting topics to reflect on. I invite you all to join in.
Tell us about a time when someone made a wrong assumption about you, without knowing the facts. How did you deal with it? How did it make you feel?
The most frustrating thing for me is knowing that someone has made a wrong assumption about me. When I read the question, I was reminded of a time when I was in school. We were in a special class where we split into groups, and each of us was assigned a different topic. With that, we had to put together a sort of crossword puzzle and come up with the clues so we could all play together. The thing is, when we started playing, we had to stop at one point because there was a recess in the middle. I didn’t leave right away; I stayed behind to double-check a few things, and some classmates from another group started yelling at me, accusing me of cheating—that I was trying to figure out the answers to the other people’s crossword puzzles. Right after that, they went to tell the teacher. I remember that the teacher was very strict and had a reputation for being mean, but she was nice to me because I was an excellent student and all that.
The thing is, the teacher believed what those girls said, and when it was time to go back to the classroom, she gave a very heartfelt speech about how she had placed her trust in me and I had stabbed her in the back—exactly as I’m telling you now. I felt terrible hearing those words because that wasn’t my intention, and she didn’t let me explain myself either. I was very shy, so I ended up accepting the accusation—though it really made me angry, to be honest. I think I was bitter about it all week and for a long time afterward, too. Even now, when I remember this, it still makes me angry because I didn’t let anyone down; she chose to believe other people, and on top of that, it wasn’t right to make such a big deal out of it when it was just an innocent game. I was doing well in the class, but it was still just a game. Thinking about it now, her reaction even seems exaggerated to me. After that, she never treated me the same way again, and things got tense in that class.
The truth is that at this point in my life, I shouldn't care what others think of me and should just let them continue with their mistaken assumptions—that doesn't define me. I know who I am and what I'm doing, and that should be enough.
We recently wrote about our favorite colors and how they make us feel. But, how has your favorite color changed over time? What prompted that change?
I took part in that activity, too. My favorite color is green, and it has been ever since I was about 10 years old. At first, I chose it because I wanted to be different—since all the girls my age used to say they liked pink, red, or purple. I wanted my answer to stand out. But soon after, my older brother brought home a pair of parakeets; they had apple-green plumage that shimmered in the sun, and I became friends with one of them—we were inseparable. So my love for the color green grew thanks to them; even now I have a slightly bigger parrot, but this one is moss green. I usually really like apple green and emerald green.
Since I was so into green at the time, people used to give me things in that color—which I loved—though I have to say that sometimes I got tired of it. I like other colors, too; I don’t want everything to be green, hahaha. I felt like telling them that, but I didn’t want to burst their bubble. I still like green today—I think it’s become a part of me—but other colors have also started to catch on, like red and purple. I’d even say I like orange and yellow. But green will always have a special place in my heart.
Well, friends, that wraps up my thoughts on these topics. I hope you enjoyed it, and I encourage all of you who are reading this to participate. Thank you for sticking with me this far and supporting my content. See you next time!
