Hello, dear friends in the Womentribe community! I hope you’re all doing great. After reading @syllem’s post on the topic of feeling fed up—which drives you to make changes—I found myself reflecting on it, and here are a few thoughts I’d like to share with you.
First of all, I realized that it’s absolutely true: every time I’ve made radical changes in my life, it’s been because I’d had enough. Fear can often paralyze us, and comfort zones are welcome, but we tend to hide in them. On the other hand, when things start to feel uncomfortable and we no longer feel safe where we are, that’s when we stop overthinking and just take action because there’s something making us feel bad.
On the one hand, that's great, but I think it would be good to take action before all this happens. The thing is, we tend to give it time—and I include myself in this—and trust that everything can change for the better when, perhaps, we’re fooling ourselves. Why wait when we can make things happen with a few simple steps? I don’t have the answer; it just seems that change only happens when you’re ready to go through it, and if you’re not prepared, it can be harder to take in.
I’ve realized that this feeling of being fed up is actually the norm for me—I get a lot more done when I’m in that mindset. It even happens with my own appearance—I’m not someone who goes to the salon very often or makes radical changes to my look, but the times I have done so were because I was fed up with always looking the same, so I changed it. It’s like shedding my skin—over time, I realize there are details that no longer fit my current personality, and I have to make a clean break to make room for something new.
You know I’ve never been a fan of change, and on top of that, I’m very patient, so I’m always putting things off or giving plenty of chances to people who maybe don’t deserve them, but I keep reaching out to them because I just can’t help myself. Until I get tired of it, and when I do, there’s no turning back—I cut it off at the root and move on to the next thing, just like that—it’s that drastic, but it’s the truth. It might take me longer than the average person to make major decisions, but once I do, I’m committed all the way through.
So, when you really think about it, it’s good to get fed up because it’s a powerful motivator that pushes you to leave places where you no longer feel comfortable and seek out new paths. I like this way of looking at it. Come to think of it, I believe that all negative emotions and feelings are what drive us most toward change—did you realize that? You don’t want to change when you’re in a safe place and feel good there, unless you’re an ambitious person always seeking more; otherwise, we tend to settle into complacency because everything is perfect just the way it is. However, when something no longer fits, when discomfort and unease set in, that’s the sign that at some point that change will come—which, forgive the redundancy, will change everything. Even if we don’t know exactly when it will happen, because it could take more or less time—it all depends.
Right now I feel uncomfortable, and I think it's time to make a change. I still have no idea what, how, or when, but I know that if I want to feel good again, I have to go through with it. I just hope it's for the better.
Well, friends, that wraps up my thoughts on this topic. I hope you enjoyed it, and I encourage all of you who are reading this to participate as well. Thank you for sticking with me this far and supporting my content. See you next time!
